So for an upcoming game of Age of Rebellion, I've decided to play a force-sensitive mechanic. However, the rest of my party is either combat classes or a grumpy old Doctor, none of which have much in the way of speaking. Hey, does anyone here want to do either of these drawing requests? Im going to post in the /tg/ drawthread too, but I figured I would ask here first.

1.A battle droid (or multiple) that has a green circle in the center of its chest like a commander, and black shoulders and lower chest like the security droids.

2. a lucrehulk droid control ship with the command sphere removed and in its place what looks like a hammerhead command deck. The coloration of the whole stations is similar to the paint job they had in the clone wars animated series, but in place of the blue it should be black, and there should be no visible CIS symbol.

Both are owned by a gang of pretty organized pirates during the rise of the empire, or I guess what nu canon is calling "The dark times" (which I think is a fine name).

Anyway, thanks a bunch in advanced guys, you are the bomb.
>>
>>47922636
I used the little plastic cases they come in, for a while. But I'm also a miniature painter, and so I like to do little customized paintjobs, or cleanup detail work, or conversions. So I empties one of my pluck-foam miniature cases (LGS sells the pluck foam trays for about $10 a piece), and I use that. It's kind of funny to have "The Waaagh!" bag filled with X-Wing miniatures.

Not really, no. I've only been doing this for a very short time with unreasonably long delays and an irregular schedule, so "outlast" would be giving me too much credit. Now, if I'd started SWTG all the way back in the early 2000s with strict weekly updates, sure, it would feel weird as hell.

Works well, only issues I've had is that sometimes (usually like every 3rd or 4th session) a player will roll but it won't register/be seen by the other players, but it's resolved pretty easily with them just closing the dice rolling extension and then re-opening it.

I should be mad about that Rick Flair joke, but I'm glad to see you put Poe into your 'continuity'.

Also, I just kinda wanted to pimp some stories that I really like which are about First Order Stormies and learning not to be slaves in all but name.

The Story of Finn
http://archiveofourown.org/works/5594782/chapters/12891928
>The only thing Stormtroopers own are stories.

Tomorrow (there'll be more of us)
http://archiveofourown.org/works/5648131
>The resistance is starting to get stormtrooper defectors. Finn helps them out.

Unfortunately, a lot of authors are more keen to give a sort of teaser quote in the description instead of an actual synopsis or summary or what-have-you, so I've actually used the last line of each of their descriptions.

BUT, that doesn't mean these stories are bad, I think they're quite good and maybe, just maybe, people who want to talk about Clones and personhood can also take some inspiration from this.

Thanks. Also, I know I've been ghosting, but I'm just not feeling the badfic right now, I'm trying to work on my own projects and I'm also GMing a Shadowrun game, so my schedule's pretty full with the addition of summer classes.

Flechettes aren't too useful, from my point of view. A regen droid on a y-wing is interesting, however I would rethink what you're doing with him. You need to use Kyle's ability constantly in order to regen, leaving your target locks for torpedoes. If Kyle is nowhere near or dies, you have to choose one or the other.

Kyle is useful with jan, but without recon specialist, you aren't getting the most out of the moldy crow.

The synergy is there, but there's an obvious chink in your armor once Kyle bites it.

Gank with Body 5 can have 8 cybernetics (2 more than a Droid, an actual mechanical being). Plug in those repulsor arms and go Pacific Rim on people.
But what specializations/talents would you pick with that? What does Body do outside of combat except the occasional Resilience test? How can this guy contribute in space combat?
>>

Brawn? It increases your wound treshold and your soak too. Having 5 brawn and a decent armor makes you FUCKING INVINCIBLE.
Skillwise, it's associated with Athletics, Resilience, some combat skills and some other ones I can't remember right now.

Ganks still have 2 in Agility so they can always be a backup gunner and their affinity with cybernetics also tends to make them good mechanics and repairmen.

Well, players quickly realise they can't do everything, however it also means being a 1-trick pony like in D&D was fine it doesn't work in Star Wars.
So he needs to have a bit of a secondary role and I reckon Bounty Hunter- Gadgeteer might be a good start by having some mechanical ability as well which is always useful on a space ship.

Its taken a while, but even my dense as fuck PC's have figured you can beat a lot of people up just by yelling at them, having sick merchant skills will actually get them the shit they want/need and running around in a technological setting without a 'Computer' skill to be seen is kind of like being kicked in the balls... every day

Alright, so I have the opportunity to fly the new Imperial veterans as a test flight against one of our store champions. I've doodled around with a couple of builds, and have settled down on two extremely similar lists.

What would you pick?

I see that, especially with focuses from the fleet officer. My problem with it is if I'm already getting focuses, I can use my action for target locks. This makes predator fairly redundant. I've also been looking for an excuse to use multiple instances of ruthlessness.

My secret wish is an imperial ship with a turret slot. Tlts with ruthlessness would be devastating.

>>47943138
You could always use multiple focus for defense, or for double modifying both attacks. Plus you can always barrel roll.

Also, hold back at actually doing unrequested modifications on other player characters. that way lies Kender territory

Doesn't mean you can't suggest it constantly, though.

Hired gun sprains his ankle during a firefight? "Hey, did you know I can install some hydraulics in there to keep it from happening again. Also, you'll be able to jump 2 meters if you let me do the other ankle. No rush, just leaving the offer out there. Don't be afraid to ask questions."

If we wanna make parallels, having Katiness' actor is a good choice since both were chosen as the face of a bloodthirsty rebellion who cared little about the plight of others as Kat was chosen as the icon of the Mockingjay rebellion and Jan's name was used for the terrorist faction who actively targeted civilians to persuade them to give up on the Empire on protecting them

Your Obligation is that you HAVE and now they're pissed with you for tinkering and fucking with stuff, like for example you might have been hired by a Hutt to upgrade some of his footsoldiers and now there's a couple of hundred combat-enhanced psychos out there looking to murder both you, the Hutt and he'd like you to un-fuck this situation asap.

anyone know how First order naming/numbering works? What do the first two letters, (FN and TK have been seen so far, according to the wook) mean, and how are they chosen?
I get that the numbers at the end are pretty much just a serial number, but it's the beginning two characters I'm curious about.
>>
>>47955352
The Wook doesn't have any info for either nucanon or Legends, as far as I know. Even the number of digits and letters is inconsistent and dependent on the author. I just assume for normal, non-reference names, one of two options:
>Start at AA-001 and work your way down, possibly reusing the designations of deceased/discharged troopers
>Someone in HR generates a randomized alphanumeric sequence and calls it a day

Designations like JB-007 and THX-1138 are obviously meant to be pop culture references and thus, unreliable indicators of naming trends.

Does anyone else think that Star Wars is kinda... repetitive?

I love the universe, but I don't like how technology, aesthetics and fashion never change through the course of thousands of years.

It's also exhausting to put up with the Jedi being ethnically cleansed every 200 years, or have the Empire and Republic play tug-o-war constantly. It's like it doesn't matter whether or not the heroes save the day or if evil takes over, because, within the next century, the other side is going to come out on top, like two kids fighting for the passenger seat in a car.

Asked the same question on /co/, they pretended non of that exists and completely gave themselves to the Disney Canon.
>>
>>47959929
Part of the appeal of Tales of the Jedi is the radically different art style from the movies.

KOTOR and Legacy Era's similarities in design and political situation are irritating for that reason The current First Order/Resistance status quo has the same problem I generally prefer to stick to Galactic Civil War stuff.

Han Solo at Stars' End.jpg
355KB, 976x1600px
Han Solo at Stars' End is pure pulp goodness. Its short, fast, and whips from action scene to action scene without any fat.

Before Yavin, Han & Chewie are bumming around the Corporate Sector, doing odd jobs and trying to stay ahead of the law. They get hired on to help find a feisty outlaw tech's missing father and get wrapped up in a larger scale conspiracy that leads to a secret CSA prison at the edge of the galaxy known as Stars' End.

Every set piece is memorable. Han & Chewie paying back Ploovo Two-For-One, the kickass dogfight between swing-wing Z-95 headhunters and Authority IRDs, the escape from the agriworld Orron III using a reprogrammed harvester droid, and the entire sequence at Stars' End culminating in Han blasting the entire tower into near-orbit is awesome.

Characters are good. Han & Chewie are spot-on. Jessa a cutie tech/pilot, the Atuarre the Trianni Ranger looking for her mate is great, Rekkon the wise black man is suitably likable so that his death has impact, and the real stars are Brobots supreme, Bollux and Blue Max. Seriously, they're great.

Like Scum & Villainy? Want to run Edge of the Empire? Read this. Top Fucking Tier that stands with the Holy Trinity of Zahn, Stackpole and Allston.

Also, Han spaces a guy from the Falcon's airlock while in hyperspace. Stone cold.

What's next on the list for reviewing?
I've been enjoying these so far
>>
>>47959929
>>47960018

Star Wars has an incredibly iconic sense of aesthetics coupled with archetypal yet compelling characters/plot that together creates something familar yet unique.

The problem is that all those elements are felt to be so essential to the image of the franchise that the in the effort to stay true to films the EU (and now the sequel trilogy) retreads the same ground time and time again.

KOTOR's setup in which the distant past 4000 before the films looks pretty damn similar to the "present" is not for any deep artistic design but because when you say STAR WARS people want/expect jedi, sith, lightsabers, superweapons and that iconic aesthetic.

Both the old EU and the ST felt the need to stick to the forumla partly because it was successful the first time around but also it's a way for the these projects to earn enough credibility as a legitimate SW product. We can hope that after TFA established it's foothold as a Star Wars film filled with Star-Warsy stuff the team will feel confident enough to branch out and explore new ground in the remaining movies but we shall have to wait and see.
>>
>>47960018
>The current First Order/Resistance status quo has the same problem

It conveys a theme we're starting to see in our own world right now, so I don't mind it.
>>
>>47959929
This annoyed me in particular with TFA. They did a lot of thing right, but it retreaded old plot points so hard it hurt. As good as Empire was, I really hope episode VIII won't repeat it as hard.

Gotta say though, I have high hopes for Rogue One.
>>
>>47960855
Currently halfway through Han Solo's Revenge, after that its going to be Han Solo and the Lost Legacy, probably Dark Empire II & Empire's End and then go from there I'm saving Rogue Squadron for after some of the eventual dogshit.

Also going through (Old) Marvel Star War, but its probably worth breaking that down into arcs.

>>47961033
Started by going "Haven't read Heir to the Empire in forever. Wonder if its still good?" Working to get onto production order, where possible.
>>
>>47961101

Ah, I was wondering, because one of the things in the EU I usually recommend to people because I always liked it when I was younger was the Han Solo Trilogy, though I'm not sure when it came out (though technically timeline wise I think the books like, encapsulate the entire Han Solo Adventures in there somewhere).

To me, all the inspiration I need for an Edge game is Paradise Snare.
>>
>>47961230
Chronologically, Han's Corporate Sector trilogy (written in 1979-1980) takes place within Rebel Dawn (1998)

Crispin's Solo Trilogy was also a favorite back in the day.
>>
>>47960018
While I liked TFA, I think more emphasis on the cold war aspects and ships that aren't just x-wings or tie fighters! would have gone a long way towards making the era stand out. Usually that's the job of the EU but it seems like nucanon is shitting the bed on that front. I'm glad they aren't wasting any time making many of the same mistakes as the old EU

>>47979299
>what reason or circumstances would dictate setback dice on social checks?
Hostility or disbelief on the part of the target of the check.

Say you've got a PC who's trying to bluff his way into convincing a grizzled Espo who's getting too old for your shit that he's not ripshit drunk, nor did he crash that airspeeder into that casino over there.

Im having trouble with my storyline, got a group of force sensitives who want to be bounty hunters, i rolled up a target who stole spice from a rival of his boss.

Now I have the person who was stolen for written up, and the other bosses encounter, who is saying that the thug doesn't work for him anymore and he doesn't know where he is.

What im stuck at is how I get the PCs to the guy now, i feel like i wrote myself into a corner, but writing myself out isnt helping. The endgoal I want is for a vehicular chase through a crowded city.

Any advice on how to get my pcs on the right track to the thug? And what I should throw at them as they look for said thug?
>>
>>47979765
Were your players smart enough to hire or befriend an information broker?
>>
>>47979765
How smart is the guy they are tracking? If he's an amateur or is scared from the pressure he might try to sell his product too early instead of lying low, or at least contact some dealers to try to move it. Maybe a local spice dealer knows him and intelligently refused, or even stupidly accepted and is in the process of making a deal. Unfortunately for your group if they've figured it out than other bounty hunters probably have too.
>>
>>47979299

Well, if it's an opposed test, anything that would normally give the other guy a blue Boost die becomes a black setback die for the roller. That'll probably be most common for Rivals and Nemeses with their own talent ranks.

Drugs, critical injuries or previous Threat on a roll might apply some black dice to any sort of check depending on when it happens.

But most common will be basically like >>47979345 said, just any kind of environmental factor. People who have no reason to like or believe you. Talking in a crowded, loud nightclub. Trying to reason with somebody who is drunk as a skunk, any kind of situational modifier the GM can think of.

So the Bomber dumps target lock and focus onto Omega, who then Randy Quaids at someone guns a'blazin?
>>
>>47983452
Looks like it. If I'm reading it right it's actually not that bad. You could trim some fat, like removing Comm Relay Evade (so long as you don't mind the lost die from Expose.)

Looks like it goes:
>Bomber greens
>Assigns target lock to Omega
>Assigns focus token to Omega
>Omega moves
>Expose
>Experimental Interface (maybe to Barrel Roll into Range 1)
>Omega Attacks
>His attack immediately deals between 3 and 4 crits, defense roll dependent
>The pair fly away, clear stress, prepare for a second attack run

I see it being very effective against large base ships with very little agility, such as the Ghost. Maybe even against some more agile pilots (3/4 guaranteed hits is nothing to sniff at, crits are even better).

List maybe needs a PS8/9 ace to help strip tokens. Yes, lots of potential actually.

I've been playing X-Wing for months, might be coming up on a year, and I feel like I'm not getting any better. I recently played Super Dash and a Lothal Rebel and lost every game. That seems particularly pathetic. I've figured out formation flying, movement and range measuring, and I'm not sure what I'm missing besides consistently rolling crap. A stupid question I'm sure, but is there some secret strategy or trick I'm missing?

Hey guys, does anyone here wanna read the prologue to my star wars fic?

The story itself is going to set up the characters introduced here as the two big bad guys, with the end of the second act be the main character stealing the Humble Herring from the shadowport.

This is a first draft, and I would appreciate any kind of help. Ive posted work of mine here before, but this is the first thing I liked enough to want to refine into a definitive part of the finished product. I guess we have to write a few Journal of the Whills before we can write any ANHs

All criticism is welcome. If you think its shit, tell my why you think its shit. If you really like an aspect of it, let me know what it was and why you liked it, either as a comment on the doc itself or in a (you) here.

This might seem silly, but a huge part of playing X-wing (at the higher competitive level) is playing the other player first, and the ship movement dice game second.

I won a game recently by tricking my opponent into chasing my ace, while my two missile boats came about in a huge, lazy circle. From his perspective he'd caught me out of position, and that's how he treated the game... Right up until his 4 and 5 forward moves overshot my ace, and my two Contracted Scouts performed a sharp right. He lost his Soontir and another Tie that turn, and after that it was a matter of minutes to mop him up.

If I'd been playing the dice-and-dial game Soontir would have shredded my ace, and probably been prepared to whether my torpedo assault. Because I played the player, I managed to catch him out of position, unprepared, and ultimately dealt him a one turn death-blow.

Check out: "A Treatise on Starfighting" - he has some great explanations of playing the psychological component of X-wing. If you play your opponent instead of his list, you can win with almost any squad.

Nah, Disney loves money too much to take any risks at all with Star Wars. 8 will be a retread of Empire Strikes Back. As a matter of fact, I'll go ahead and spoil the plot right now:

> Opening, on Not Hoth. Finn and Poe are doing protagonist things, Carrie Fisher is pretending not to be hung over.
> First Order tie fighters do a flyby. The Resistance gets worried.
> Cut to Not Dagobah. Rey is learning to be a jedi from Luke, but is held back by her anger and lack of patience. Chewbacca passes the time by diving for fish.
> Back on Not Hoth, the first order are attacking. Things seem to be going well, Leia does something badass, but then the Knights of Ren appear.
> This highly trained group of Sithaboos pause in their massacre only to plug Kylo Ren's iPod into the loudspeaker so he can blare "Crawling" by Linkin Park as they fight.
> Finn and Poe escape together, along with Leia and the rest of the Resistance. They head for a bastion of Republic control.
> Back on Not Dagobah, Rey is having visions of Kylo Ren torturing Finn by reading him his poetry.

continued...
>>
>>48000952

> Hayden Christenson makes a cameo, appearing as a force ghost to Kylo Ren and calling him a whiny little bitch. Kylo informs him that he is not his real dad. Anakin tells Kylo that he's done better force chokes on his own cock than Kylo ever has in his life. Kylo throws his Darth Revan bodypillow at Anakin's ghost and he vanishes.
> Despite Luke's advice, Rey takes off in the Millennium Falcon to rescue her friends. Luke tags along, and Chewie gives him a massive hug.
> To exactly no-one's surprise, Finn, Poe, and Leia are betrayed by a man with less than a tenth of the swave of 1980s Billy Dee Williams.
> Rey, Luke, and Chewbacca arrive to save the day. Rey upstages Luke at least once because Disney analysis predict a 2.1% increase in sales if this occurs at least once.
> Things appear to be going well, but then the Knights of Ren appear again.
> Either Luke or Leia die. Luke if the analysts decide that having a white male protagonist isn't diverse enough, Leia if her cocaine budget exceeds expectations.
> Finn is taken prisoner, and is taken away by Kylo Ren for interrogation and reconditioning. The rest of the cast escapes, watching the First Order massacre the Republic settlement.

Hey yo, I'm trying to Explain A Thing to a friend, could somebody help me out? I want to know some of the major inconsistencies between the Force in the Prequels and the Force in the OT. Not stuff like "It's way more powerful in the PT cuz they can do flips" and shit, more like differences to how it's approached, i.e. "anyone can Force" vs. "You Must Be This Force Sensitive To Get On The Ride", etc.
>>
>>48001901
What in particular are you looking for?

The best way to look at it is that everyone is connected to the Force but some people have a stronger connection which they can develop. Even without training, a Force Sensitive will be just plain better at certain activities because they're unconsciously calling upon the Force.

Pilots who are extremely dextrous with insane reflexes, mechanic capable of diagnosing machinery and fixing it with a glance, politicians who are innately able to understand people around them and subtly manipulate them, stuff like that.
>>
>>48001901
The obvious answer is "Lucas didn't have a continuity editor or Gary Kurz to say "No, George, this makes no sense."

An in-universe answer is the Jedi Order got so stifled with dogma and procedure that it couldn't see the obvious threat bearing down on it. The survivors (Ben & Yoda) realized too late that they needed reform and taught Luke a more adaptable/less rigid view of the Force that he could eventually pass on to the next generation of Jedi to try and ensure this doesn't happen.

Luke succeeded in Legends after a rocky start, and apparently failed hard in NuCanon.
>>
>>48002030
>>48002046

I'm not looking for in-universe wankery, I want to know legitimately more differences between how the Force is explained in the Prequels (Jedi are better at everything because they have a set amount of Force Points) and the Original Trilogy (People have to basically be awakened in the Force to use it well and aren't super-enhanced by it because they won the genetic lottery).
>>
>>48002204
Besides a very large number of Force abilities being displayed in the Prequels, nothing really. Unless you want to get into EU stuff.

Maybe you can make a case for Yoda being super sensitive to the future and various happenings around the Galaxy.
>>
>>48002204
Then I stand by my original statement that Lucas got carried away and didn't have anybody to reign him in. Especially as he grew enamored with how far CGI had developed since the 80s.

He also got caught up in "prophecy" and making Anakin into a very powerful Chosen One (none of that in the OT) and you had a general sort of power creep that went along with it.
>>
>>48002204
>super-enhanced by it because they won the genetic lottery
>The Force is strong in my family. My father has it. I have it. My... Sister has it.

The Force has never been consistent in any media, EU, movies, or nucanon. It is a mystery that is meant I be beyond words and explanation, and any time it's gets put in a box someone is going to sperg.

What is the optimal mercenary soldier build? Get point blank and improved field commander and cross over to tactician?
>>
>>48002732
Depends on what your overall goal is. But I'm not really sure why you'd go that route.

The main reason you'd take Mercenary Soldier is because you want that solid mix of Leadership combat related talents mixed with combat skills in a single tree. Doesn't make much sense to take the Leadership talents then jump over to Tactician where the main big talents are un-ranked ones you've already bought. Unless you just really want the Hired Gun Signature Abilities that badly.

It's not Canon.

But maybe it's a sign that things are working on a quota system? Like, for every 2 ships from Rebels and 1 from TFA and a Prequel you can have 1 Reprint and a New ship from Legends.
Or maybe 2 from legends if the Gunboat rumour is actually true. Although Huge ships tend to come in their own mini-waves so I'll beleive it when I fucking see it.

So, basically there's a ratio apparently, we just need to figure it out. WITH MATH.
>>
>>48005479

Actually, let's look at the last wave.

R2+T+P with nothing from Legend.

R=Rebels, T=The Force Unleashed and P=Prequels. But if we combine it with >>48002434 and why not toss in the gunboat as well we get:

R2+T+P = F+(HL)+L

F= Fix, H=Huge and L= Legends.

Okay, so far, so opaque. But let's factor in Wave 8.

R2+T2=L2

So, from this we can more clearly see that for every 2 Ships from Canon we get, we get one ship from Legends. Now, the wildcard is the Prequel ship. Does each prequel ship we get enable us to possibly get a huge ship? Probably not, Scum needed a huge and a Starviper fix so size probably doesn't matter to paraphase a certain green muppet.

No, not Kermit.

Of course this all assuming that we shouldn't be factoring in stuff outside of X-Wing into this as well, like the ships from Armada.

Black Sun, the crime syndicate, had its own fleet of capital ships, and starfighter squadrons during the GCW. Zann Consortium did, as well. Granted neither of those are mercenary groups. But if crime syndicates can have enough financial power to own their own fleet of outdated and open-market ships and starfighters, I see no reason why a merc group can't have a few gozantis and a corvette or 3, with a few piles of whatever starfighters they could scrounge off the black markets.

Han Solo's Revenge

Yeah, its good. More Corporate Sector shenanigans, more great action sequences, swoop bikes, disruptor pistols, Chewie making a hand glider out of a dead flying bird and a tripod rig, and Han accidentally starting up a cargo cult on a desert world by showing the locals a movie about an aquatic paradise.

Desperate for work and excitement, Han & Chewie take a job sight unseen. It turns out to be slavers, and after nearly getting killed, Han wants his 10k owed to him and starts tracking down the ring. They run into an idealistic young CSA waifu named Hart-and-Parn Gorra-Fiolla of Lorrd who's also tracking down the slavers, and a Tynnan (beaver-people) repo man named Spray. And it introduces Gallandro, the Fastest Moustache in the Corporate Sector, and Han keeps pissing the gunman off.

Its very James Bond, with the disguises and globe trekking and twists. Top tier, again.

[/spoiler]Hmm, maybe it's an opportunity for a Princess Leia pilot card. Be cool to have her be a clutch wingman that saves other pilots from being blasted just like in the comic.

Maybe give her:
'whenever an enemy within your firing arc declares an attack upon another friendly ship you may immediately perform a primary weapon attack against that ship'

Another cool thing about that ability is it would make Leia into a priority target for your opponent. Which would only make sense thematically; because if any imperial commander knew she was in the area they'd target her first.

I've not played X-wing Minis game, looks fun though, so all that speculation is lost on me.

Good work, man. I'm looking forward to running something similar once Poe 2.0 comes out.

Hmmm. Given that two of those are box sets, what's the likelyhood of the Gunboat being a two-ship box-set also?

I'm sorry, I misspoke earlier. The three options are:
>Navetta Resistenza
>XG-1 Assalto Barca Pistola
>Superori Stella Vipera

So that is: Resistance Shuttle, XG-1 Assault Gunboat, Superior StaViper. 'Protagonista Della Resistenza' is mentioned just above 'Navetta Resistenza.' Sorry for the confusion.

So I played xwing for the longest time, got out bc of funding, but now I'm back good I was thinking of getting good into armada. I've watched a bunch of plays and it seems good. Can someone give me the short list and pros and cons? And how is it for ex xwing players?

I'm italian and i almost choked myself, that's some google translate level of bad. Anyway, the names should be:

>Navetta della Resistenza
>Cannoniera d'Assalto XG-1
>Starviper Migliorata

X-wing is fast, Armada is slow
X-wing is balanced, Armada still suffers from three-build-syndrome
X-wing is immediate, Armada requires forethought
X-wing is exciting, Armada is satisfying

So quick question for a game I'm running

Lets say some imperials decide to dissapear some people because they had a rather open protest of the Empire. Lets say these Imps also were wary of rebel activity in the area and desired to store and move the prisoners secretly, and also they are aware that these miscreants may have access to their current com codes.

Where would they store these folks while still on planet? Someplace that could be obviously imperial controlled but not obviously a prison. This place could also ideally include some way to transport the prisoners, as they are eventually going to be moved off planet to an ambiguous fate that rhymes with the Rice Lines of Wessle.

And of course who might all know about a place like this, so that players can figure out who's fingers they need to break to figure out how to find them?

>Where would they store these folks while still on planet?
Imperial black sites deep in the planet's wilderness, possibly disguised as ruins/warehouses/abandoned bases/corporate compounds?

>Who might know
Major local politicians, real estate agents (look for shady land acquisitions), underworld information brokers, plainclothes ImpInt/COMPNOR agents, high-ranking members of the local constabulary (maybe), someone running an underground railroad for other undesirables, escapees, Stormtroopers who aren't painted standard Imperial white, a Rebel cell that is on the same mission but uninformed of the players' existence

How about a secure psychiatric hospital?

Take a leaf from the KGB and have the dissenters classed as dangerously insane, since anyone rebelling against the New Order must be mad.

Straightjackets, locked in a high security insane asylum (with a mix of both political prisoners and actual patients, including genuine psychopaths) and moved by secure ambulance.

Xwing is for the tactical mind, Armada is for the strategic mind.

Both games are excellent in their own way. Armada hasn't had time to flesh out either it's admirals or its ship lists really to the point where there can be the kind of diversity that exists in Xwing, but it's getting there. I play full deployment games of Xwing and Armada and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that Armada is by far a faster game to play compared to Xwing in that setting. If you're going to buy all into something, and want to go full crazy on it, Armada is an easier game to do that with.
