If you're doing Tau and what to do a lore style Cadre, would there be more Fire Warriors on the field or more Kroot Carnivores and Vespid Stingwings?

I thought Tau were usually the minority in their own Cadres, but I've recently learned they have cloning so I'm not sure anymore.

Small-scale cloning is doable for Tau and Imperium in the fluff, and the Imperium has large-scale cloning when it comes to very hi-tech worlds and background exceptions like Krieg.

Chaos can also kinda do it but its usually just Fabius Bile or Warp God shenanigans.

Depending on where the Cadre comes from, you can go for either more auxiliaries or more Tau. Most tend towards Tau soldiers with specialist Aux forces, but I'm pretty sure there's a sept out there that has a lot of aux soldiers to back them up.

Not really. That doesn't make much sense from any perspective you look at it.

From a rules perspective, Vespid are fast attack, so they're going to be a minority no matter what. Kroot are troops like Fire Warriors, but even then that's only equals.

From fluff, Kroot are mercenaries and vespid are from a single world. Not the sort of thing that can be fielded in large numbers everywhere reliably.

And from artwork, most Tau battle scenes show a lot of fire warriors in ranks, with usually only a handful of vespid or kroot.

Fire Warriors are still lthe backbone of the Tau military, even if Battlesuit spam lists with a handful of Kroot snipers is more popular.

So I'm a bit unclear on how Allies work. Do you have to take an Allied detachment to bring any allies, or can you just bring any Allied formation that's not a CAD?

For example, If I'm playing IG and decide to bring Space Marine allies, do they have to be in an Allied Detachment, or can I just bring a 1st Company Task Force?

Cloning DOES work in 40K. The only issue is that cloned humans do not have souls, and are therefore easily possessable by Daemon and other Warp-creatures (as they don't possess either a soul OR the Pariah gene).

It's not known what the Krieg actually do to replenish their numbers. All that's known is that it's so bad that Commissars keep it under wraps for morale purposes, and they themselves admit it makes them uncomfortable to know about.

Wave serpents are really good, even for their cost, but the downside is that you don't get a cheap transport option.

Now that they nerfed the serpent shield shooting, and it's no longer also the best shooting tank in the army, it fits pretty well.

They're glass cannons that are mostly glass and less cannon. Chimeras and Rhinos are better for mobile, relatively durable gun lines while Tauroxes are just Allah-Akbar cars, and they are pricey for that.

They took out the "it's dark in dere" rule, and also made ogryn take up three spots in the chim instead of two. So you can't run the five ogryn + commissar +priest meat bus, which was one of IG's more interesting gimmick units.

I mean I get that bullgryn would have been way too good if you could shove them into chims like that, but the regular ogryn weren't really good enough to justify the nerf

GK fan here, I don't care too much about winning. I just play armies for their appearance, lore, and play style - even if it's not the most effective thing in the meta.

If you aren't playing Eldar or Tau or Gladius you're pretty much mid-tier and that's fine with me. I don't really believe in trying to win in "tournament" 40k since the allies system is so fucking broken.

It was purifier spam, psybolt mortis dreads, flyers when few armies had a counter, and dreadknights when few armies could stand before them.
If the dex was exactly the same now, it would be a good dex, but would still lack the numbers and firepower that accompanies it to stand against the best.
Honestly, I loved how it could have low numbers and still punch way above it's numerical weight with good gear and strong units.

I'd say a variant Stealthsuit with a shoulder-mounted sniper rifle. Stealthy Ranged Support mirror to Shadowsun's Stealthy close-range support. The rifle itself is folder on the back and he leans, the rifle unfolds over his shoulder and grips/braces with his arms for added stability. If you're familiar with the Armored Core games, it's like when you use shoulder-mounted guns without Human+.

Make him have some synergy with other rail rifle units, like giving them an extra shot, extends their range by 12 inches or makes them twin-linked.

That conversion addresses one of the major issues I've always had with the Dreadknight aesthetics wise.

The lack of operator protection and the fact that the blade is held and not arm mounted.

Sadly the one on the left is the Sergeant, middle is just a Tac Marine, and right is my Captain. While building the Captain I was like "eh I don't like these heads so I guess I'll give him a helmet" and almost instantly regretted it. The Sergeant came with his own head so I just went with the kit, was considering giving him one of the spare Captain heads but then he'd have 3-4 centuries of experience under his belt which I thought was insane for a Sergeant. Thanks, my case for the techmarine is he packs much more punch by himself and could even repair a vehicle on the way to joining a squad.

I think with the FAQs if you put your Conclave Libs in a unit from another detachment the unit loses its Auto-Arrive shenanigans for DW and maybe even the turn 1 free jink from RW cause that Lib.

I know for sure using another Chapters Conclave and adding them to our units make them lose their chapter tactics.

What army should I play if I want to have fun in noncompetitive matches and not have my opponent roll their eyes as I deploy them or not have fun fighting my doods?

That's actually not bad advice btw, I recently (well, pre death from the skies by a week) won a 750 points per person doubles tourney with a grot CAD and the sky armada. My m8 was playing blood angels for extra laffs.

Depends on the opponent.

Necrons will almost always get eye rolls. So will Eldar.

Tau will get eye rolls no matter what. Their MCs are considered to be very strong, everyone hates marker lights, and most opponents will spit on you for avoiding melee combat. God help you if you know the name of a single anime.

IG is relatively mid-ground, has some variety of play, but many people will assume you're one of those militaryphiles that love tanks and will discuss the pros and cons of 5.56 rounds while complaining that you were born too late to assault the beaches of Normandy. These people will roll their eyes.

Space marines are the most common army, but they can be OP or weak. Most non-marine players will roll their eyes because these guys get into their army flavor even more than IG players.

Sisters have one or two strong builds that few people are prepared for, but there's not a lot of variety, but people will roll their eyes as they consider you hipster feminist and tell you how dumb boob plates and women in general are, or will discuss how hard they get fucked by Space Marines after making the sandwiches.

Dark Angels players will roll their eyes at Space Wolf players and vice versa. These guys are at their worst when up against each other.

Blood Angels, Orks, Nids, and Dark Eldar will get eye rolls from any army that was hoping for a challenging match.

So I thought of some fluff for my Alpha Louisiana Women.
No one knows when this heretical cult of ominicidal women emerged, but rumors put their emergence at the end of the Old Night or during the Great Crusade. They most certainly fought for Horus during his heresy, and vent their laments of the death of their dear Warmaster by destroying all that is related to the Imperial Cult. Their equipment ranges from Imperial weapons stolen off the battlefield, armaments forged within the Eye of Terror, or even looted alien tech when the mood strikes them. They mimic heavily armored regiments of the Imperial Guard, but almost seemingly have more in common with Orks in terms of tactics. This contrasts with their highly civilized demeanor, but that may be just a facade.

They recruit by enslaving Imperial women from raids, or by producing new recruits by means of cloning or by a ritual that requires pieces of flesh of two or more participants. The last two are preferred methods as the Alpha Louisiana Women have a vow of chasity that if broken is punishable by death, and view women who have sex to be lower than Chaos Spawn.

What? Like, you're just extrapolating on the fluff, right? I'm not sure I see why SW and DA players would have a problem with one another.

Can confirm when I bring my DA against the Space Wolves or any Astartes it is always a great fight with a lot of good fighting but tons of fluff.

RW+WS vs Dual SW = 2-2
RW+GK vs Dual SW = 3-0

There are a few other codex SM players and our BA friend has been using homebrew but we all have a great time and jest each other.

7th ed codices pre necrons were in simplification and nerfing mode and all the other space marines (bar SW in some ways) got buffs to units that blood angels commonly use, such as dreadnoughts getting their base attack stat doubled.
