Don't forget Haakon for unlimited, exile-free Unearths.
Why is this not red?
>>47755289
Making copies is more blue than red
>>47755302
Red has a bunch of copy cards
>>47755289
It doesn't have haste, nor does it come in tapped and attacking. So presumably it's more for copying an opponent's creature and killing it when it attacks on their turn
>>47753915
Secret tech for Endrek: Assault Suit. You can just choose not to pass him around and never have to sac him. Spit out Thrulls all day with no downside.

I also found Spawning Pit, to get rid of excess Thrulls.
>>47755392
Anon that wouldn't work. Once someone hits 7 Thrulls they'd have to sacrifice Endrek, but they can't because of Assault Suit, so the ability just triggers infinitely and the game never ends

>>47754050
What a coincidence, I just helped a friend build a Jor Kadeen Myr tribal as his first edh deck.
>>47755659
No.
>>47755809
Wheels and looting
Artifacts and Daretti are good too
That "exile -play until end of turn" mechanic sucks
>>47755871
Yes, actually. Unless you can pay a cost that sacs enough thrulls to put you to less than seven, the trigger will just keep going off. Check the gatherer rulings.
>>47755908
I wonder if they played around a little more with the exile-play thing it could be better. Something like exiling more cards at once but not playing all of them.
>>47755871
Yep
Unless you can bring it down to less than 7 Thrulls at instant speed in response to the trigger, it will go off forever
>>47755871
just stick with conspiracy, works better than assault armor
If you could add one color to a mono-colored Legendary creature, what would you do?
All this talk about Endrek Sahr made me think he'd fit pretty well in WB.
I have only played MTG online so far. What's the real MTG playbase like?
>>47756094
Pizza-faced Autistic Turbovirgins.
>>47755955
Well yeah, you need an out for the Thrulls or the game ends in a draw. Still saves you from needing to sac and recast your commander every other turn.
>>47756116
Wow, sounds like you have some seriously shit-tier local game stores.
>>47756061
Nefarox might make a fun Voltron general if he had White.
>>47756061
Godo would be rad in Boros. He'd be cooler if he was (not that he isn't anyway). Both colors for Samurai, two of the better artifact colors, lots more access to instant-speed removal
>>47756094
You know how you can imagine the worst about people online when you don't have to see them face to face. How you can imagine their self serving thought process through the filtered pure and direct information you get with an electronic medium?
If you've ever thought the worst about someone then just do that, but multiply it several times over. Only then will you have something approaching a standard magic player in real life.
Plus they have all the cards you can't afford.

Different anon here.
>want to run this combo in current Endrek
>don't believe anons
>look it up myself
>holy shit infinite loops with no close draw the game
Welp. I don't know what I was expecting.
Been out the card game circuit for a while now. There was a Game of Thrones card game I played a few years back where a certain deck archetype was all about resource denial: either lowering the opponent's resources to the point of making it impossible for them to play stuff, while keeping your own stuff cheap and playable, or outright stealing resources from other players to use as your own.
Is there anything that can do this in MTG/EDH? It was the biggest asshole deck in the format and it was rewarding as fuck to play. Really tough to pilot well and really fun
>>47756190
You could probably go down a few lands. Night Soil is pretty spicy though, gonna steal this idea for my own deck
>>47756669
Yes. That style of deck is quite possible in MtG. It is somewhat more difficult to pull off in EDH due to it's generally multiplayer focus but can still be done well.
This link should provide you with most of what you'll need to get started.
http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/204260-the-stax-primer
>>47756669
In M:tG it's called Stax. Stax is a polarizing strategy in some social circles because it's an example of one of the ways you can "break" EDH. EDH is wide open and the banlist is not intended to prevent every possible dick move like the way banlists from competitive formats are made. It's unquestionably effective in high-power games provided you don't get hated out.
>>47756669
grand arbiter, Augustus
I hope you die in a horrible car accident on your way to buy it.
jk
>>47755955
>>47756637
I actually like the assault suit idea as a way to force people to not cast spells lest they make the game a draw.
Sure there's going to be the duckweed that does anyway but a way in mono black to stop people from casting creatures is cute
>>47755809
Wheels are the best way to go besides Skull Clamp, which is easy to fuel with things like Kher Keep and Trading Post.
>>47755955
>>47755908
I've actually had pretty good experiences with the exile mechanic, particularly with Chandra/Outpost Siege. However, Commune with Lava is really good because it's until your NEXT turn.
>Mikaeus as my Commander
>local league starts today
>points system punishes infinite combos
I tend to play a control match and finish with some sort if drain and gain. What does /tg/ recommend for the deck to help me win without an infinite combo?
>>47755749
Let me guess - you want R/U artificer?
>>47757156
Yes
I know it's going to be underwhelming but the colors are my two favorites. Plus a proper RU artificer would be nice and not Jhoira
>>47757152
Gary and Kokopuff recursion seems like the best way to win without infinites. That said, you might just be better off going for a different commander and moving Mike to the 99 if you're just using him for value and not trying to go infinite.
>>47755363
Slap it on Zegana or E.Wit, man this card can be value I swear.
>>47756762
>>47756787
Oh yeah this looks like my shit. Choke (as it was known in AGOT) played really similar to this, and when you got going it was almost impossible to get out from. Gonna build this and draw a giant target right on my forehead when I bust it out.
>>47756841
Sry bb but I'm going in dry
>>47756061
Make Zada R/G or R/W so I can actually play funner spells.
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/anafenza-the-cutemost/
Anything I should add? I asked last thread and got a few good suggestions for wincons. Does this Abzan Goodstuff have good enough stuff? I might add Midnight Guard+Presence of Gond Combo for the sake of it, but I'm not sure that's even good enough to add.
>>47757216
I want it to, to be honest but
>Fire magic is strictly banned, and pyromancy punishable with a death sentence.
>>47757392
I have those two but you have a point. It's a recursion deck that is surprisingly hard to win with without Triskelion.
>>47757573
There were red artificers in Origins though. That one uncommon that gave artifact creatures haste was red and pretty good
>>47757573
Red isn't just fire. It's also passion and invention. Kaladesh is ripe for red creatures that show other sides to the color. Stuff like Felden of the Third Path
>>47757580
Maybe try mono Sidisi in the command slot instead. She can get you Mikaeus on curve if he's what you want, but lets you build more of a toolbox deck. Also she works great with recursion herself.
>>47757561
I made this almost exact same deck with the same support of +1/+1 counters and its really slow and easy to kill you may want stuff like fleece-mane lion and stuff like rootborn defenses and Golgari charm to keep your board safe from wraths.
Is there a way to reliably flicker Hokori during your turn so you can untap all your lands, then bring him back EOT to affect the board again?
>>47757703
Ah, golgari charm! I knew i was forgetting something obvious. Thank you for reminding me! Fleecemane Lion seems like a really solid option, too. Thanks! Does anything stand out as prime material to be cut out? I'm having a hard time seeing what is sub-par for the general strategy.
>>47757760
Eldrazi Displacer?
>>47757790
Doesn't work. Hokori will always be present for his ability to trigger.
Something that keeps things gone till end of turn would work though.
>>47757595
>>47757627
Fuck me running but you are right. Still, imo artifact creatures with devoid would be interesting
>>47757561
Unburial Rites is better than Zombify, I believe.
The same goes for Ambition's cost, unless you think opponent losing 3 life from Harrowing Journey would matter.
>>47757760
Roon might be your best bet, but I'm assuming you want Hokori as your general
Skybind could probably work if you're running some pillowfort-y stuff
>>47757848
My bad, misread Displacer. Try Flickerform then.
>>47757760
'walker Venser is entirely capable of this. Shame that there aren't many effects that have a delayed return on the flicker, but I imagine it'd be incredibly easy to abuse if they did
>>47757878
Ah, right. Ambition's Cost is much better. Unburial Rites too. Maybe add Entomb and something like Dread Return, to create a secondary Reanimator strategy that's easier to set up.
>>47755502
>>47757156
>Not wanting a red/whiteartificer
>>47757774
Daghatar is pretty mana intensive not always worth it, you could prob use forgotten ancient in that spot it that's what you want. You could prob run varolz instead of deadbridge Goliath if you really want to scavenge. I'm trying to keep this budget for ya since you I imagine you don't wanna spend much but you could use a scavenging ooze and green sun. Theirs so much you can do with Ana tho so do you man she's fucking hype I'm rebuilding her again myself .
If I sac with ashnods altar, that goes on the stack and someone uses path to exile in response, can I just trigger ashnods again to put it on the stack again to keep my creature from getting exiled or do I need a different sac outlet trigger
>>47758391
You sac your creature as a part of the cost, so it's impossible to respond.
>>47758391
Sac is part of the cost, by the time they get priority the creature is already dead.
>>47758018
Actually, I'm running one as pauper EDH commander
>>47758612
How well does it work?
>>47758652
Still working on it and making some changes but it's mainly everything with affinity for artifacts/plains, metalcraft etc
>>47758724
Do you run Atog?
>>47756669
That sounds like stax
And if you're completely new to EDH, stax might not be the best way to start. You'll draw immense hate for it. But go for it if that's what you really want to build
>>47758766
Nope - I want to use only "recent" cards because I will probably want to buy this deck on paper and local stores has not this old sets
>>47756669
>GJ Choke
>biggest asshole deck
>implying Martell Bloodthirst wasn't a million types worse
>>47758391
>>47758436
>>47758452
Also, as a general rule; mana abilities can't be responded to.
>>47755809
Targeted Cantrips
>>47757152
With a shitty rule like that I'm gonna assume it's a very casual meta. Personally I'd still use triskelion, but I wouldn't go infinite. Remove all the counters pinging things, then use him as a chump blocker. Or use him with limited sac outlets like High Market and Vampiric Rites. It's still tons of value, you just don't combo out. If anyone calls you on that shit you could act like you had no idea it could be infinite in the first place.
>>47758929
Expedite becomes "R: Creatures you control gain Haste. Draw cards equal to the number of creatures you control."
>>47754050
My Shu Yun deck has the same problem that your Atarka deck has but I enjoy it anyway
>>47756094
It varies. I've generally had good experiences with people I've met at LGSs and GPs albeit they're usually a bit spergy
>>47758929
Use this as a death-or-glory finisher
>>47759440
I personally don't like Tears for 2 reasons:
1) Fatal Frenzy is better with Zada, since it's cheaper, gives trample, and is harder to counter
2) On it's own Tears is a smaller pump than the rest of my spells, giving somewhere between 1 and 4 power. If I had other pump spells and the mana to use them along with Tears it just seems like a winmore spell with a huge downside should they have a fog. Compare it to overblaze, which is the same CMC, has splice (if your build can take advantage of it it's surprisingly relevant), does effectively the same thing with zada out, and has no downside.
Do you guys think Momir Big would be good in Newzuri. I feel like he'd be great..
Hokori stax: Y/N? That effect is crazy but mono-white is weak on its own
simic +1/+1 counters is on its way boys
What would be the best premade edh deck to pick up as my first? I generally like playing control, namely white/blue, but am open to try anything fun.
From my rather minimal experience playing I believe that I would want to build towards

Is it possible to build Briarskull on a budget?
Has anyone had success with Tazri? I love the idea of it, but my "meta" is squaring off against blue braids 1v1 most of the time, so unless it's vaguely serious, it's not even worth my time and wasted jank to proxy it.
>>47760410
Build Daretti stax like a man
>>47760410
It depends on your preferred playstyle, the 2011s are expensive now and generally not worth buying, the 2013s are average and still fairly cheap, 2014s white deck is shit and blue needs alot of work, 2015s any deck but the RW unless you think spending $40 for a sol ring and blade of selves is a good deal.
>>47754050
None of these are good by any standard.

Monogreen elves and Zegana ramp/goodstuff come to mind. If you go monogreen and like getting two bodies for one card, Kalonian Twingrove is another fatty I have been wanting to try out.
So I just discovered this guy. Apparently he's not super good but i really like the idea of making a deck around him and dictate of erebos/blood artist/ogre slumlord. Anybody ever play with or against someone using this guy? Any tips or ideas?
Also any suggestions for a blue commander good for instants and sorceries? Rise from the tides swells my pants like few other cards.
>>47761104
That actually sounds cool. Anyways, the packs I got were Journey into Nyx, Gatecrash, and Fate Reforged. I pulled:
>Skyspear Cavalry
>Blinding Flare
>Rollick of Abandon
>Hypnotic Siren
>Mardu Shadowspear
>Qarsi High Priest
>Sudden Reclamation
>Sage-Eye Avengers
>Showstopper
>Trostani's Summoner
>Putrefy
>Pontiff of Blight
Can any of these be used for any sort of deck, or are they junk cards?
>>47761152
I'd suggest Dralnu.
But Talrand, Mizzix and Melek are more traditional instant/sorcery generals.
I also can see Shu Yun running it fro late game goodies.
>>47760084
He can be strong but honestly he's better in the 99 of a GAA4 deck. Build what you want though, that's half the fun of the format
>>47761171
Definetly.
Putrefy is solid.
Trostani's Summoner for blink or token deck.
Sudden Reclamation for Sidisi or Gitrog orHua Tuo dredge.
Pontiff of Blight for goodstuff, token or big mana deck.
All other card range from meh to okay.
>>47761356

>Get a nut draw of Dermoplasm

>>47764195
Because it reeks of close minded fools, either you or your opponents, if your opponents all have only 1 deck and they all play the same color, you have a shit playgroup but I'd understand you want to run a card that is good against them
It just seems like bad card design to me, the card is either useless or perfect, depending on facts outside your control, that is not good card design
Good players play all 5 colors and good metas have balanced colors to a certain extent
>>47764318
And when I say "perfect" I mean "unfairly overpowered, a complete blowout"
It's bad design to have cards that are either useless or overpowered depending on things outside your control
Do any of you actually have fun winning that way? You only force your opponent to play a different color and make your card useless
it's different if you play edh with sideboards, then it's quite reasonable to pack these in your sideboard

>Three chances to print enemy color fetches between MM2, C15, and EMA
>>47764888
>implying C15 was a chance to print enemy fetches
They'd be charging you twice msrp at the game stores, the single copy of the enemy fetchland would take up the entire msrp on its own
>>47764935
So your LGS is shit. Mine sells everything at MSRP.
>>47764946
Mine sells most things at msrp, because wotc has the foresight to not make their products worth more than the msrp
In fact I spoke incorrectly, if fetchlands were in the C15, you wouldn't be able to buy them for any price, the stores would simply open then and take out the fetches, then sell you the individual cards

This is geared more towards 1v1 with lots of smaller guys. Otherwise if you play it as a pseudo combo deck with blinking allies to trigger their etbs.
I hate running lots of small, shitty tribal guys as it goes against everything I always say, but getting shit down early is way too important for allies so that you get the etbs rolling.

Man, Boros "blow shit up" decks are fun
>>47765615
Because they want to nickel and dime a mass circulation product with a massive print run. It's not like charging $80+ for FTV:X since it is extremely limited.
If they hypothetically do that to their product, then you hypothetically don't support it because it's asinine.
>>47765804
What's asinine about taking basically the number 1 most in demand cards in all of magic and selling them individually?
a much smaller number of people care about the commander precons than the number who care about enemy fetches, they would make way way more money by selling the fetchlands than they would by marking up the commander decks to account for $50 cards in them
And if they didn't mark them up, they'd be literally throwing away money
I'm not understanding your view here at all
In this hypothetical scenario the only asinine party would be wotc for printing $50 cards in a starter product like a commander precon meant to all for 30-40

>>47766606
How is being preferable to suicide a bad thing?
>>47765759
I usually avoid playing or advise playing all of x guys in a tribal deck, because most of them suck, see merfolk as one example, treefolk as another.
Some people when building tribal just go in magiccards.info, type in the subtype the tribe, and add all creatures of that type.
Why I'm doing this with allies, is because their synergies require you to have a good amount of allies to be really strong, whereas some of the elf or merfolk or whatever tribe don't need that many.
I like green ok
>>47766689

do you just like the art?
also, pharika has a pretty simple ability, im not sure where you're confused on what to do, when your creatures die, you turn them into deathtouch snakes
What is your favorite way to punish overextensive ramping/refusal to interact with the board? I ask because my playgroup has degenerated to cancer in the past few weeks
I'm torn EDHG. I want to build so many decks, but I don't know which to start first. I have a list if any of you want to weigh in.
Numot: Land Destruction
Oros: Deathtouch/Boardwipes/Graveyard Control
Treva: Enchantress
Skithiryx: Infect Voltron
>>47766907
armageddon, death cloud, board wipes, smokestack, winter orb, etc
>>47766907
well MLD is the traditional counter to mass land ramp
vandalblast/bane of progress for artifact mana
if your opponents are "refusing to interact" then you can punish that with infinite combos
>>47766870
Thanks, deck list looks sweet and I'll keep it in mind when I make mine
>>47766889

Basically can't stand anybody who calls their deck a "politics" deck
But I like keranos so that deck is a wash
And then the rest of the decks are fine but the fact that you already have marath and Xenagod and want to build mayael strikes me as really weird
>>47767213
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/dirty-hippie-goddess/
going through the list reminded me of how many things I've traded out of the original list when I was more serious about commander. used to have a life from the loam in there to abuse the cycle lands and just never got around to replacing it. also had a strip mine in there at one time but when I ended up in a new, significantly lower powered group I took it out
>>47767472
When I said "poliitcs" I more or less referred to how I played him. What I usually try and do is strike deals with people about who gets the lightning bolts and stuff like that if that makes sense.
As for Marath, Xenagos, and Mayael, all three have similar themes but different playstyles in my opinion. Marath is all about casting Marath for either counters or tokens, Xenagos is about doubling up creatures and making them bigger than they already are, and Mayael is leaving that shit to luck and just top decking creatures. That being said, I'm a huge fan of Green/Gruul and fat monsters so that's why I built Xenagos and Marath.
>>47767532
Marath can definitely be unique but Xenagod and mayael seem very very similar and it just seemed weird that you would build the same deck again just in a slightly diff color combo when you've already made that color combo
You do you tho, I barely find time to play all my decks anyway and I only have 4 currently, like you
>>47767568
Explain to me how Xenagos and Mayael seem very similar because I don't see it. Xenagos is all about adding multiplying counters to your already-big creatures while Mayael is just topdecking big creatures and putting as many onto the board as fast as possible. Two entirely different strats.
>>47767630
maybe they're similar in the "BIG CREATURE SMASH LITTLE MAN FACE" play style
>>47761152
Kuon?
>>47767630
This exactly
Xenophobe is ramp into fatties and turn them sideways
Mayael is "oh boy i hope i topdeck a fatty with cmc 6 or greater and put it into play" then turn them sideways
Mayael is my casual fun times multiplayer deck for when i really dont want to think
>>47767648
Ok I can see that
>>47767693
When you put it that way they are similar but I think that's just oversimplifying it. The key difference between the two imo is that Xenogos multiplies the power and toughness of a creature by putting counters on it while Mayael doesn't and just tries to amass as many biggies as she can.
>>47767806
>Xenogos multiplies the power and toughness of a creature by putting counters on it
What
>>47767864
>At the beginning of combat on your turn, another target creature you control gains haste and gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is that creature's power.

>>47753446
I actually run Geth in one of my other EDH decks and I tend to get annoyed at how stupid the other players get. Seriously. A Geth drops and suddenly everyone assumes it's there shit I want to target.
Yes, I'm planning on stealing your clone to clone the only high value creature (my Geth) when the other player has an Eternal Witness and my graveyard is full of good shit which I can get back for much cheaper.
It's not like you should hold mana open for the counterspell for the Craterhoof Behemoth you know that other guy is holding.
Seriously. It sometimes seems like in multiplayer EDH people react violently to anything that MIGHT be a threat until they're out of answers. then I die while I'm the only one dealing with actual threats. Then a random person wins because everyone fired off every answer in their hand and they had the last threat standing.
>>47766907
If theyre ramping into tooth and nails use reiterate and forks to win before it finishes casting. Ramping into fatties is punished by bribery, stolen goods ect ect. Also dumping lands for effects/mana advantage is beaten by balance and armagedon and such. Craterhoof is also busted by blind obedience and extort makes it a sweet value card on top. I guess fulminator, strip mine and wasteland get honorable mentions for blowing out specific lands.
Storytime, gather around!
>Playing Slobad Stax/MLD
>vs Zedruu
>Mull to 6, get a hand with Pithing Needle, Faithless Looting, Gilded Lotus and Sculpting Steel and some land
>T1 Pithing Needle Zedruu
>Fast forward a few turns, he drops Aggresive Mining
>I go Gilded Lotus, Tap for Sculpting Steel Lotus
>He Donates me Aggressive Mining, I sac a land eot
>Sac another land on my turn, cast faithless Looting drawing into Boom/Bust
>End up stalling a few turns getting rid of all my lands, hit Blood Moon and Lodestone Golem and cast themas well
>cast Boom/Bust after I've sacced all my lands
>Slam Winter Orb
>cast Daretti, +2 and to my dismay draw Blightsteel
>Cast Mox Opal and use it to cast Forgemaster and Lighting Greaves
>+2 Daretti, discarding Blightsteel to shuffle it away
>Forgemaster for Blightsteel and equip Greaves to it
>Swing lethal infect
The guy seemed rather new, he didn't know what some of his cards did, so after the game I explained to him how giving me Aggressive Mining broke the symmetry of MLD and let me take advantage of it. I'm actually thinking about adding it to my decklist after getting Donated it, though I don't like that once I cast it I have pretty much no way to get rid of it in mono-red. Anyone have experience running Aggressive Mining?
>>47768569
I have no experience myself with it, but I've been thinking about card draw in mono red decks and Mining + Walking Atlas seems to fit the bill.
>>47768569

I'm kind of pissed at the five signets I run in 5 color. The timing restriction of their use is more relevant than I had anticipated.
So, I'm considering replacing them with Talismans. However, with 10 shocks, City and Confluence, I've definitely hit myself for more than ten in games already.
Would I be better off adding 5 cards like Commander's Sphere and Prismatic Lens? I already run Ingot and Lantern.

I run a mostly preconstructed Roon blink shenanigans deck and for a long time ran an esper control/combo deck with merieke as commander.
I changed my Esper deck to a Zur voltron/stax deck, with more emphasis on creatures.
I use stax effects to slow the game down in my favor but don't do locks, for this reason I run about 12 creatures one of which being Bruna, just in case Zur becomes targeted too many times.
Zur decks build themselves practically but I still think that Narset builds just as bad if not worse decks and doesn't get nearly as much hate as Zur.

>>47766730
Yea, slivers are better. I just like Tazri because allies are______fun______
You can even play Sliver Queen storm/combo, whereas Tazri somewhat forces you to play Allies.
And with Slivers as you said, most are ok or good, leaving you to cut out only the jankest jank, as well as being cheap. Whereas the good Allies are highly costed, meaning you have to play the shittier Allies to trigger the Ally etb effects.
Single allies are better standalone though, Talus Paladin can grow to large sizes and still compete with the board on its own in a way Telekinetic Sliver just can't. How you get left with only one guy I don't know. Seems a bit unlikely to me.

>>47773829
the problem isn't any two card combo winning in X amount of time, I'm sorry you couldn't interpret beyond what I wrote because your intellect is inferior, the problem is gary is a brainless inclusion into any black deck that becomes a problematic game ending threat all on it's own once any type of graveyard recursion occurs, which every single Bx deck has plenty of.

Other than that, the occasional way to see someone's hand with Telepathy effects, and ways to keep fliers in control (Teferi's Moat for budget, or Moat if you have the cash).
After you've built the core, pad it out with cantrips/removal/counters and you're golden.

>brago has flying
Wow, why didn't I know that?
Thanks anon, you've given me inspiration for a very fun deck. After a quick look on edhrec, I have a lot of useful things already, like Sphinx of Evos Isles and Thunderclap Wyvern. The only thing that I'm leery of is the very specific devotion for the commander, versus the high devotion costs of some fun things I'd like to run, but that's a pretty easy problem to solve.
How is Narset in multiplayer?

Staff of Nin is value in almost any deck, but I've been having a surprising amount of success with Tamiyo's Journal and Magnifying Glass because of how little agro they draw.

you mean warden of evos isle, which is not a sphinx at all but a bird
anybody care to rate my Sedris the Traitor King deck?
before you suggest sundial of the infinite, i know of the card i just wasnt sure i wanted it before, i might add it again, but in general i'd prefer suggestions of less obvious cards

What is the problem with proxy cards? Let people play what they want, it should be more fun for everyone. Not everybody has the money to spend. Also you are not playing in a sanctioned tournament

This literally happened to me last Thursday night anon, retard used a Banishing Light and some other removal spell to kill my Geth and then we all just died to the guy dealing everyone 6 damage a turn w/ a damage doubler out.
