No. Remember, the wormhandlers are scavengers and grave robbers, who cobble thier arms and armor from the dead and whoever pays them.

Note the incongruous and patchwork appearance of the handlers, how each is unique and looks sewn together from different parts, whereas the Doroks you pictured actually have a standardized uniform that's relatively ubiquitous across their ranks, as befitting a nation of their strength and tech level.

You are probably right, but as the Doroks are still tribesmen in part I'm not 100% convinced.

Across the various pages there is always some mix of styles and we have no hint that they are not always have different colors simply by virtue of being mined from a different wreckage

We (America) didn't really allow them to have one, by definition. They were allowed a defense force, something that acted for the protection of Japanese territory. They are NOT allowed to make offensive actions. And because they acted in this portion and this portion alone--especially when paired with Japanese martial pride and pride in all that they do--they became VERY professional.

That particular term of their defeat in the Pacific War recently ended, and I think that they're allowed to be a military now. They just don't have any interest in it. Generations of people in Japan bearing the guilt for the actions of Imperial Japan has militarily neutered the idea of Japanese expansionism in the populace at large. Their JSDF is professional as fuck because they're Japanese, and being professional at whatever they do is simply a part of being Japanese.

If you mean >>47734304, then it looks like poorly-made leather or some sort of cloth vest with a series of rondels or other round armor bits sewn or bolted in. Truly, the makeshift armor of a peasant levy.

You'll be happy enough when it protects you from a slash or something because the weapon hits metal and halts, but there's a LOT of soft-spot to exploit. Well and truly the armor of someone who cannot afford better.

That appears to be an attempt at a brigandine - metal plates sewn or riveted into a backing garment. Basically the same as your second spearman (heh Wesnoth) but on the inside with weirdo extra-large rivets instead.

Yeah, that sounds about right. A rifle gets annoyingly cumbersome during long movements, the magazine well makes a convenient fulcrum, and Joe is lazy. Everybody does it.

THat picture is of Emilla Plater, of Poland. She rallied a combat unit and fought in several engagement against Russia in 1830.

There's also the Mongol princess Khutulun, who not only advised her father in war, but led armies in the field to numerous victories.
