I am now accepting applications for /tg/ FUMBBL League IV. There will be two divisions, as before.

In the Veterans league, as usual, this is completely open-weight to any returning /tg/ League teams, or anyone mad enough to want to enter a fresh team.

In the Rookies league, any coach may enter a fresh team, or a returning team from previous /tg/ Leagues under 1200 Tournament Weight (which is different to Team Value).

Each league will play six rounds, Swiss format, with the top 6 Veteran teams and top 2 Rookie teams competing in the /tg/ FUMBBL League IV Finals to decide the champion.

As usual, players may only enter one team total.

To apply, PM me on FUMBBL (user: MauledByTheTigers), stating your Team Name and which division they want to play in. Apply your team to the group, and ensure they are READY TO PLAY if not already, so you'll have to roll any skills or buy new players first.

I'll check your applications and either ACCEPT or REJECT you. I will regularly post a list of accepted signups, if you're not on it and feel you should be, PM me.

If you can't last ~6 weeks, don't apply. Stick to casual play.

At what point should a human team start picking up tackle? Like I know elves always give one Blitzer tackle as a first skill up (or almost always), undead take tackle as the first skill on wights and the second skill on ghouls (unless they still need sure hands).

Depending on the opponents you expect to play, a tackle blitzer is either high or VERY HIGH priority.

Tackle does not help much against orks, chaos, nurglers, dorfs of both kinds, norse and khemri.
For everything else, having just one tackle on your blitzer is of immense help, but you gotta position him properly so he doesnt end up tied up by some shit.

Undead, necro, and nurgle are the best because you can get racial linos so it isn't really a bad deal to get the 10 zombies you need for an undead team or the 8 or so you need for a necro (not that you would necessarily run that many, but you are running a lot of zombies for both teams)

I'm like paranoid with having enough linos for a table top set even though I know that I am not going to go over 14 players with any given team and that most teams sit at 12-13 players anyway

Thats just one starting lineup for norse. A full team is close to 2 ulfs, 2 zerks, 1-2 runners, 0-2 throwers, and fill linos to around 13 because of av7 and for fouling once a half.

How important is it to get guard for humans? Like is it worth it to get it on all 4 blitzers and the orge asap or can you get away with 2 + the ogre? I mean granted it is almost always worth getting by 51 or 76 spp because it is one of the best ST skills and one of the core 3 blitzer skills (guard, MB, Tackle) but anyone less bashy than you won't have access to S skills and anyone more bashy will out st and out guard you.

Exceptions are Zons and Norse can out guard you but can be bashed (though you humans are still faster) Dorfs will out guard you but not out st you and Undead will out ST you but not out guard you.

If you want to play Blood Bowl you have 4 options:

A) buy/pirate Blood Bowl 2, the latest cyanide blood bowl game. It has fancy graphics and it introduces Blood Bowl nicely. The downside is it has way less teams as of now (except for 'fanfic' Bretonnians which are exclusive to blood bowl 2 in vidya), is rule incomplete, is missing star player mercenaries, bugs, and multiplayer is shitty unless you find yourself a league and it costs a pretty penny if you go the buy route.

B) buy/pirate Blood Bowl Chaos Edition. The graphics aren't as fancy as blood bowl 2 and it doesn't introduce the game as well as bb2, but you get all teams (plus exclusive khorne fanfic team), rules are mostly complete, it has nice details, not sure if it misses star players. It has fewer bugs than blood bowl 2 I think, but the multiplayer is more buggy and it's probably kinda dead after blood bowl 2, you'll have to find yourself a community that still plays it.

C) play on FUMBBL. It's 100% free, has all the teams (and even more teams in stunty leeg), all the rules, all star players, only misses inducement decks, stunty leeg, it has an active non shitty community, and it's where /bbg/ mostly plays. The downsides, the graphics are pretty shit consisting of 2d sprites, it doesn't introduce blood bowl at all, it's multiplayer only, and java.

D) find people in your local area that play blood bowl and go meet them, they'll help you get started and buy yourself a team.

So my personal recommendation, is first grab the rulebook and giving a look at cknoor's tutorials would be a good idea, then if you don't have the irl option available or want to play asap, is pick either blood bowl 2 or chaos edition to ease yourself into the game, or join us on FUMBBL, or both.


Also, season 4 of our FUMBBL league is going to start very soon and currently signups are open, feel free to join. Even if you don't play, you can lurk the thread and spectate our matches to see how it is.
