Definitely the Vilderavn. They have a variety of effects that help screw over parties - for one, they can make the party waste actions because it makes them not count as allies anymore. then there's also the fact that thanks to the bleeding damage it can keep damaging people even after it changes targets, hexes which can make people waste even more actions, and it's a pretty damn good fighter on top of all this, with high quality gear.

Plus, while it's sort of edgy in fluff and appearance, the difference between it and a lot of the bullshit people try to pull of is that the vilderavn actually works it, being out and out scary in both potential and personal power. I'm the anon that put together a build that can solo linnorms, but I haven't worked out how to consistently solo a vilderavn without overwhelming firepower and surprise.

Ruining treasure makes the game unfun in a game as treasure-focused as PF.

Gear is sacred, moreso than characters. It may be "fair" but it FEELS awful from both sides of the DM screen in my experience.
>>
>>47582928
It cripples characters that rely on metal gear, which is, like, 75% of them. Even clerics tend to have some metal on them, usually in the form of a weapon and chain armor. Hell, even druids tend to have metal weapons, even if it gets subsumed by wildshaping.

I made the mistake of just playing a min-maxed-for-combat dumbass. It's a necessary role but I'm kinda tired of it, but our group is pretty attached to our party structure since everyone has well defined roles.

There are so many different builds I want to try though. How do I satisfy my urge to see them in action?

What's there to stat from Bloodborne though? Most of them are some kind of beast, which is just a mishmash of monster parts, possibly with some fleshwarping. Winter Lanterns might be fun though, they're probably some kind of Mesmerist-based thing.

Rule #1: never use your own PP if you can avoid it. Once you get to the point that you're casting almost entirely off of temporary PP, you're much safer unless you piss off whatever deity holds sway over your d20

Rule #2: Cash in early and often. In an ideal fight, you're going to hit it literally every other turn (alternating with a manifested power of choice)

Other than that, have a blast ba-dum-tish

Can a good cleric cast evil SLA? Logic would say no, but after so many errata about how SLA aren't spell... I am not so sure anymore.
>>
>>47583491
SLA are not spells. therefore, their alignment descriptors don't hit your alignment.
>>
How interested is /pfg/ in homebrew from random posters? It seems like a lot of folks simply get passed over when they post their own.
>>
>>47583521
It varies. If it's the top of a new thread it might not get as lost as if it were post 150-ish at a busy time.
>>
>>47583521
I remember postig some of mine like, a year ago. Lost to the sands of time, sadly; to be fair they probably weren't that good but still.
>>
>>47583521
Depends. I mean, it hasn't stop some people from posting, and often people have to be in the mood to look at homebrew to give feedback... Which isn't often, unless it's something /pfg/ tends to universally like like a waifu race
>>
>>47583514
They're still innately evil. Though the cleric can probably use them, too much use could cause them to fall or shift alignments. Good gods would probably frown upon the use of evil spell-like abilities.
>>
>>47583565
I just want to know whether they can use them or not. It's a simple yes or no question.

No moral/alignment argument, please.
>>
>>47583685
>Her alignment, however, may restrict her from casting certain spells opposed to her moral or ethical beliefs; see Chaotic, Evil, Good, and Lawful Spells.

>A cleric can't cast spells of an alignment opposed to her own or her deity's (if she has one). Spells associated with particular alignments are indicated by the chaotic, evil, good, and lawful descriptors in their spell descriptions.

Spell-likes aren't spells so they're, mechanically, fine to use.
>>
>>47583521
Depends on how invested people are in it, and how well you sell it.
For example, I could go
>Hey check out my fighter fix #346866 pastebin.link
which probably won't get much from you because you threw it in pastebin, when you could have thrown it in googledocs for easy commenting, and everyone's moved away from fighters onto other things by now.
Or you could be like
>Hey, check out my list of new wizard spells, to include Summon: Shotguns and Magic Missile: Nut tap, as well as some new wonderous items at docs.google.blah
And you'll probably get more hits because it's more interesting and it's in a reader/commenter friendly environment.

Singular they is valid grammar and has been for hundreds of years.

It's also something we use in everyday speech.
>>
>>47585010
Depending on the circumstance it's totally valid. In english the "correct" (quotes because grammar and linguistics are weird) for singular and unknown/no gender is either they or he (due to "proper" english grammar being based off of latin grammar which did much the same although almost exclusively using the masculine instead of the neuter).

>>47584940
It creates the weapon in perfect condition, sure.
But it doesn't create ammunition; a separate item.

Unfortunately Paizo was very deliberate in the design of 'charges', and explicitly wrote the whole thing as they did so as to fuck people out of being able to use most tech weapons.

This is why the handful of workarounds are popular fortech. Call Weapon (and, had it been melee, 'instant weapon' spell would work there too) functions on Rockets, due to the specific wording of the rocket launcher.

*that said*, a monowhip (all tech is already masterwork but does not have masterwork stat benefits; you can enchant them on the spot though) is 70 000. That's 700 batteries in cost before you start being behind on purely the purchase. Don't put more than 3 charges into it at a time, and at an average of 12 encounters (and that's PFS) per level up, you'd technically be well above level 150 by the time you paid as much as it costs to just buy the damn thing.

>A creature that takes a direct hit from a Rocket cannot attempt a saving throw to reduce the damage taken.

>>47584908
They/It can be dehumanizing, since they're usually used for objects!

There are valid arguments for a non-gendered pronoun!
>>
>>47585109
That's incorrect. "they" and "it" aren't the same.

"They" is a neutral term, it's often used for people, and not really dehumanizing.

"It" isn't neutral, it's /neuter/. It's one specific for objects, not people.

The singular they is English's non-gendered pronoun.

>>
>>47585109
"It" is dehumanizing. "They" is often used for human subjects and is the accepted standard for a gender-neutral pronoun.

Literally the only controversy surrounding the use of "they" is whether you use "themselves" (as the plural) or "themself" (which makes more sense as a singular, but means that the one word, "they" can be modified two different ways depending on context, which some language purists hate because they're sticks in the mud.)
>>
>>47584054
Just use "they" if you want to use a gender-neutral pronoun. Otherwise just write "he" on one side of a coin, "she" on the other, flip it, and stick to what it says.

Some people don't identify with either gender, and would prefer not to be associated with either. I am the creator of the archetype by the way, and don't myself. I didn't use "they" because I am somewhat of an English grognard so they as singular rather than plural bothers me... especially since its roots are masculine.
>>

I'm not dissing the way you are, but - seriously. You should change it to he or she if you don't want every discussion about the archetype to become about the pronouns instead.

Even paizo, the king of zealous SJW decisions, makes a he or she decision for each class and just runs with it.

He and They are both neutral and grammatically acceptable. The former was the accepted gender-neutral pronoun for a long time as well, only recently did a wave of "CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGE"s decide that because it can *also* refer to men it must obviously be rapetrigger rapebad.

You can even use 'one' to refer to individuals, which is damn near "royal we" in detachment. With all these options why invent new things?

Because nobody that uses those homebrew pronouns is EVER happy about anything but their own special snowflake one, because the attention is what it's all about.

If you use ze, you piss off those that want it xe. if you use xe, you piss off those that want it ve. you use ve, you piss off those that wanted hir, and so on. What you'd choose wouldn't matter, what would matter is that those people will be offended no matter what, because being offended is their goal, the only personality they've been able to come up with, and the only sexual pleasure in their life.

So... at least don't butcher the language, so at least those with other components to their self won't be confused or annoyed at new homebrew grammatical errors on your part.

Yeah, no.

"he" is not gender-neutral today, it wasn't gender-neutral five hundred years ago, and at no point in the entire intervening time period has it ever actually been gender-neutral. That (like the concomitant derogation of epicene "they") is Victorian-era bullshit, from the same puffed-up halfwits that brought you rules like "split infinitives are ungrammatical" and "don't end a sentence with a preposition"—imported directly from Latin, because they sure as hell haven't ever been rules of English.

Way to fucking lie, asshole.
While in the 1700s there was a short period where "Ou" was used as a neutral pronoun, it was for purposes of "unknown", and not "asexual". It was actually much more common, including referring to children, animals and many not-object things.

A generic 'he' was used in the middle and modern english periods for both male and female sexes, and in fact 'him' spent a long time being useless in figuring out whether one was speaking of a male or female when using it.
>>
>>47586173
How is the victorian era not english? Back then 'he' could mean women as well; it was men that basically lacked their own pronoun, since women had 'she' and subhumans had 'it'

>>47586279

>>
>>47586279
Actually that's just 'Wif' which meant "Woman", derived from Wiban (germanic). At the time, 'Wer' was man, again, used the same way for marriage.

When one said their wife (their wif) they basically meant 'their woman'. When one said their Wer, it was equally possessive; 'their man'.

Husband eventually replaced it, and basically comes from the terms for 'house' and 'dweller', not to mention some verbs regarding stewardship (as in butlers).

We were way better off with 'wer' in terms of dignity!

>Elephant Totem (Heroes of the Jade Oath): Gain +1 size bonus to CMB, CMD, determining whether an enemy creature's special attacks (improved grab, swallowed whole, etc.), as well as capable of using weapons one size larger than himself.
>Elephant Totem, Greater (Heroes of the Jade Oath): Gain a trample special attack acting one size larger than you, dealing 2d6 damage +1-1/2 (1.5?) times your strength, which has a reflex save equal to (10+1/2 Barb level + Str) for half damage.
>Boar's Charge(Blood of the Moon): When hitting with a gore as part of a charge, you automatically score a critical threat, while still needing to confirm as normal.
>Disemboweling Tusks (Blood of the Moon): Upon confirming a critical hit, deal 1d4 Con damage in addition to normal damage.
>Take Improved Natural Attack to increase the tusk damage to 2d6
>Wear Mammoth Hide Armour (Inner Sea Combat): ...grants the wearer an additional 4d6 damage to successful charge attacks.

If I'm doing the math right, during a rage at level 12, with a total of 22 Str from both rage and a +4 Belt of physical might (S/D), as a Dwarf, I'm looking at doing, as a charge:

Hey /pfg/ this is a quick reminder that casting a spell with an [Evil] Descriptor, even if it's off a spell or a wand, makes your character evil!

But don't worry! If you're sufficiently ashamed of yourself for doing such a naughty thing, then it may take more than one casting for you to become irredeemably evil.

>>
>>47587023

Casting evil spells sucks out a bit of goodness in the world. It's why they're [evil].

>>
>>47587076
you can full round action charge, and get the charge bonuses from the tusks feats for garunteed crits, or you can full round action perform a trample action in which you overrun people. There are several barbarian and a fighter variant that do bonus effects when you successfully overrun people (to add STR mod to damage) on top of doing that but you won't count as charging anymore since your trampling. you can overrun on a charge, but then you aren't trampling, which is an automatically successful overrun action. There is an argument for a combination of actions and rage powers to combine to allow you to do both but i dont think it would be rules as written correct.

as to if it does good damage, that is relative to your table and how good your table dishes out damage.
>>
>>47587055
>>47587121
FCII had the right idea about this.

Casting too many evil spells would damn you, but it was a minor evil on par with "humiliating an underling" so it'd take quite a few if that's the only evil thing you were doing. It wouldn't necessarily even cause an alignment shift, it just meant you sinned enough for the pact primeval to kick in.

Has anyone ever had a good experience being handed a premade character? It would be at level 1, and each PC would get to evolve the character as they see fit, but I'm planning a very thematic campaign and I need them all to fit in.

The campaign will be a 1-20 Adventure Path following the DOOM scenario: "The Empire" has built an impregnable fortress that is shielded by a magical Paling. Then the fortress stops responding to messages, so the PCs are sent along with an Imperial Legion to investigate. They find it open and the power out, but once they enter it locks down.

The proposed characters are:
A Human Holy-Light Paladin responding to reports that a devil-cultist escaped into the fortress with the workers.
An Oracle with the Life mystery and Wasting Disease curse that saw the empty fortress in a vision.
A Banishment Abjurer that was supposed to arrive at the fortress a few weeks before it went quiet, but was delayed because of red-tape.
An Infernal Bloodline Sorcerer seeking her true father, and the trail leads to the fortress.
A Rogue used by the Empire as an Imperial Operator spook, tasked with ensuring that any Imperial secrets in the fortress remain secure.
A retired sword-and-board Imperial veteran Fighter who's daughter was on the staff of the Arcane Laboratories.

They're all well built with good stats for their classes, but they're pretty cliche'd. I just don't know how much the average player would balk at having their creativity curbed.

Avoid Premades. But if you really need a reason for the party to roleplay specific purposes, make a "list" of possible character hooks to justify their role.

Those things you listed works - but don't restrict it by class. Just tell the players to incorporate your hooks somehow while they design their character.

I played a Premade once.

It was at a convention, which is understandable, since we had like... a few hours, and teaching people how to MAKE characters as well as play them would probably take too long, even if it was 4e.

I remember nothing about it at all. Except for the fact that I called everything that was going to happen before it happened, to the point the DM apparently would have suspected me of going to ask other people about it if I wasn't in his first group for the day.

I somehow won a plastic rock award with my name on it for that.

I have a Stalker in the middle of nowhere and want to get\make\craft\etc butterfly sword.

My level is 4, but I'm about to level up to 5.
I don't think that taking Craft skill is a wise decision at this point - Int 10, with 5 ranks I'll get +8 to check (+6 'cause "improvised tools"). Item cost = 200 sp, Craft DC = 15 (Martial), if 15 is achived, I'll make it in 1 week (15*15 = 225), but that's "if" (with +6 to check that's a big "if").
Also, there is 5 level Cleric, willing to help with spellcasting.

So, my question is - what is the easiest way to get butterfly sword in this situation?

Funny story about that; once, in a...really unusual game I was in, the GM handed me a special premade character to play that used the plural 'we' for their chosen pronoun; the other players assumed from the start it had to do with their nature as a shapeshifting construct.

It ended up getting revealed - to all of us, GM had several sealed envelopes in the packet of info he'd handed me representing 'sealed' memories - as a big-ass plot point that 'they' were in fact speaking literally by using plural terms - as in, the construct had inside itself the soul of its creator, held for safekeeping and protection; and, apparently, I'd been referring to both myself and this other soul as some sort of weird-ass hint about this.

It was...strange, but kind of cool, I guess.

Hello again /pfg. I'm bored at work today, and internal discussion made me realize that I think a section of the LotW playtest might have been missed because it's fairly small. The section in question is the spells, which currently number 4. Just wanted to see if the lack of feedback was because people felt they were fine or because people missed them completely.

Yo, while you're still here, I have an important question for you.

>>
>>47589652
I'm 9001% sure we had this conversation before, with 2hu. I'm gonna repeat what I said then: RAW there are no limits, but you should be asking your DM, not us.

Additionally, there's a vast gulf between "this library" and "the information on every monster ever." For that matter, there's a vast gulf between "this library" and "every monster under a particular Knowledge". My PERSONAL, PRIVATE-CITIZEN and UNOFFICIAL suggestion would be to do the masterwork tool bonus to one Knowledge thing that an anon suggested above.

But really, this was a question for your own table.

>>
>>47589848
>>47589852
But if you're asking, here's what I'd comment:

Lunar Vitality feels right. It's essentially refluffed Infernal Healing. Nothing wrong here.

Detect Shapeshifter is pretty standard. Nothing exceptional here.

Curse of the Beast is sorta similar to Murderous Command. I'm not sure it deserves 3rd level instead of 2nd, since this way it's pretty similar to just being a much worse Suggestion.

Greater Curse of the Beast feels ok.
>>

So the thing that I like with Curse of the Beast is that it's double sided. You can give an ally a fairly powerful template, but you risk them losing control (which can be managed through positioning).
OR you can use it on an enemy brute who hasn't moved away from his squishies. He's more likely to pass the Fort save, but also more likely to fail the Will save.
OR you can use it on an enemy caster. Generally more likely to fail the fort save, and doesn't get a ton out of a melee focused template. But if they fail the Will save, they're stuck beating on the closest person for several rounds.

Also, as a transmutation spell, it runs into a lot fewer immunities and resistances than Suggestion would. It's much more combat focused, I'll admit, but it has a nice layer of utility that made me feel 3rd was the right level for it.

>>47590039

>>
>>47590041
>is that it's double sided.
That's exactly why it should be of a lower level.
You can't reliably use it on an ally (they might end up beating the shit out of you) and you can't reliably use it on the enemy.
And even when it fully succeeds against an enemy, it's not worth being a 3rd level spell.

>>47589852

oh, of course.
The power charms can always use more (if you ever need to fill some pagespace...) given they tend to add a level or a +1 or something to a class ability.

My main complaint with them is that they're individually so forgettable... But that's also one of their biggest draws: The grand majority of them is simple, straightforward "improve X a little", and most of them improving something you can't improve elsewhere.

There's a HUGE difference in value between making a mindblade Mithral and making a mind(or soul or whatever) ARMOUR Mithral. At the same time, it should probably apply to non-skin Aegis suits.

The Wind Reader one should probably allow the Wind Reader REPLACEMENTS (like the Shroud's) to fuel it as well.

WHAT does the essence one *do*? You can't invest it, so it doesn't work on Essence Focus, it doesn't work on any receptacles (veils or items), can you even use it on a power bomb? What does it do???

Down in the refinement ones, a few more wouldn't hurt of course, but I'd especially like to see training equivalents work on the 'your weapon training'. Stuff like favored weapon, etc...

Please include a power and refinement charm in regards to kineticists; the DSP archetypes are their best versions yet, you may as well back them itemwise, anyone playing one is probably playing yours!

Firesight Eyes
Aura faint evocation; CL 1
Slot eyes; Price 45,000 gp; Weight -
DESCRIPTION
These glass lenses are tinted red, and donning them wreaths creatures in phantom fires which give away their location and highlight their weaknesses. Often worn by powerful Efreeti Sultans, these lenses reveal hidden foes and concealed enemies wherever they may hide. Wearing these lenses outlines all creatures within 60 ft. in dancing flames that only you can see. Outlined creatures do not benefit from the concealment normally provided by darkness (though a 2nd-level or higher magical darkness effect functions normally), blur, displacement, invisibility, or similar effects.

>We're tracking that, but thanks for the confirmation (and additional details). The item is on the list to be revised.
Two things I want to stress in particular:
1. Any ability that confers the equivalent of blindsight must specifically state that it is, indeed, blindsight. Since blindsight is already strong enough, but it at least has counters like Dampen Presence. Blindsight without counters is simply too strong. I already encountered this same problem with the Psionic Power Touchsight, by the way.
2. Countering all figments within 60ft is too strong for a 45k item.

>>
>>47590935
Depends on what you want.
As is, there are two options:
1. The target succeeds on the initial save, nothing happens.
2. The target fails the initial save, ability scores are swapped, 10 rounds of LITERALLY NOTHING afterwards.

Do you want some third option?
>>
>>47590967
I'm just getting feedback expanded on so the author can address it properly.
>>
>>47590935
>>47590967
I mean 60 minutes, not 10 rounds.
Misread the duration, but the point still stands.
>>
>>47590991
Okay, here's the expanded point:
As far as I understand, the implicit meaning is to allow the poison to affect the target at some point after the first save if it is successful.
As is, the wording doesn't allow that and it's an all or nothing where either the target fails the first save and gets an hour of literally nothing or target succeeds on the first save and literally nothing happens.
>>
>>47591006
From what I can see, the later saves are to swap your stats back to where they go.
>>
>>47590991
It sounds like you could use this thing right before a retraining...
Max out some easier stats, like stacking up strength through rage and mutagens, and INT it before your barbarian becomes wizard...

I'm having oodles of good times with my Hexcrafter magus so far. Thoughts on using Improved Familiar (we just hit 7) for a fey dragon (actually within theme, there's a sort of winter/fey thing going on with my character) as a wand-carrier, just for the sweet action efficiency? Obviously I'm interested in getting wands of buffs up to level 3 or so (your shield, haste, etcs), but anything else of particular note worth as a wand?
>>
>>47591033
Then that's just literally terrible.
It provides no meaningful effects in most cases, at a price of 4000gp and a low DC at that.
>>
>>47590910

Trait to ignore 1 LA is "Magical Lineage" which reduces the spell level cost by 1 when applying metamagic to a specific spell. This allows you to apply solid shadows to the shades spell.

Arcanist Fetchling FCB refers to the arcanist favored class bonus for fetchlings from Blood of Shadows (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/featured-races/arg-fetchling). It grants +2% realness (to a max of 100%) to illusion (shadow) spells.

Of course you're not going to be able to get into 120% real illusions until high level shit, that's why it's next level rules abuse. At 8th level the best you're going to get is a fetchling arcanist that can cast shadow conjuration with 56% reality.

Pointed this out to Elric a bit ago but don't know if anything's been done about it: Mithral counts as silver for overcoming DR but not for targeting silver vulnerability (you can see this when comparing its description to celestial mithral). Even with a power charm of quicksilver, Mithral Current soulknives are still out of luck.
Maybe just add 'these also count as silver for targeting vulnerability to silver'?

Also, there are two times in the doc mithral is spelled mithril.
>>
>>47591625
>I'm getting the Maneuvers using that.

Oh, then there's actually an obscure trick that makes it possible, as long as you don't want your initiation modifier to be CON.

Basically choose a discipline that gives you the initiation modifier you want (Fool's Errand for STR, Scarlet Throne for WIS, Elemental Flux for INT, etc).
This sets your initiation modifier from the feat.
Then use a martial tradition to switch out the discipline you have access to to the one you want. This does not change your initiation modifier.

It doesn't let you do stuff like get INT to climb or CHA to sense motive for skill checks, but it does everything else.

CR=APL+4 is what you usually go with if you have only one fight per day and you want it to be challenging at that.
>>
>>47592252
...That can work.

How can I get Charisma with Silver Crane using this method?
>>
>>47593295
You'd need to go for Lion, Tortoise, Seraph, or Guardian.

And the Tradition?

Empyreal Guardians, from PoW 1.

Just checked it.

Martial Training (Golden Lion) with Empyreal Guardian Tradition.

MANY thanks.

We just met up but its a continuation of an earlier campaign. Folks just call us (mostly me) "Ravnica's most Wanted"

Thanks to Fool's Errand, they're patching that rules hole. It was fine while it only let you swap what mental stat you used, and it was a little iffy but passable with the Avant Guard using it for CON to maneuvers, but with the debut of a discipline that uses STR, they decided that giving initiators STR to maneuvers was unacceptable.
>>
>>47593534
If is still valid to change Wisdom to Charisma, that's all I need.

Now my Oath of Vengeance Paladin will become a wargod.
>>
>>47593534
>Initiators could already get Dex to maneuvers
>This is somehow fine
>Initiators can now get Str to maneuvers
>This is, for some reason, heresy.

Ehhhh?
>>
>>47593643
Well, it's WAY easier to stack Strenght.
>>
>>47593643
Off the top of my head, Abyssal Bloodrager with Martial Training for the level 1 Elemental Flux stance netting you 3.5x Str to damage
>>
>>47593756
Either Urban Barb or Frenzied Slayer +Urogue 2 can also do 3.5 Dex to damage.
>>
>>47593815
*Urogue 3, but my point stands. Yes the increase in Rage bonus to Dex is delayed, but you get Dex to so many other things too.
>>
>>47593643
It's way easier to get STR to damage rather than DEX to it; weapons default to STR unless you use Dervish Dancer/Slashing or Fencing Grace/Deadly Agility, which is at least 2 feats of investment compared to the 0 of Strength.
>>
>>47593815
yes, but the abyssal bloodrager is running something like
18 base, 2 racial, 8 bloodrage, 6 belt, 5 level, 5 book, 6 abyssal bloodrage, 2 size for a net Str of 52 without getting into more than basic gear and a bloodline (not even the free spell from Bloodrage, since Abyssal gives free enlarge person). That's a Str mod of +21. x3.5 gives you about +74 per hit. I would mention a dip into alchemist, but admitedly the dex build can do that too.

Living Legend question:
The taboo on Archmage about divine abilities...
Does that include *your own* Hierophant abilities if you paired them up (effectively meaning you must not do that)? Or do the latter remain 'psionic' even if they're a domain you're copying?
>>
>>47593534
Do you have a source on that? Pretty sad news if so.
