Don't buy blue or white core, just black core
Always ask the seller for the latest batch, this is most important when you are buying sinlgles
Buying sets is obviously cheaper, and buying 4 sets could give you almost all the staples for 200 dollaridoos, but not all cards are the same quality. so be aware of that

Not the guy from above, but here's a detail of two BBs. Top one is real. The color difference does really depend on whom you order from.

On aliexpress stores:

Gathering House is shit. Plasticky poker cards, with the color either too dark (Liliana) or too light (abrupt decay). Would not use.

Liquid Cocoa Mall is shit. They send out the exact same stuff as Gathering House.

Black Lotus. Used them for their fetches, which look pretty great aside from the Onslaught ones. Nobody can quite seem to do the Onslaught fetches: they're far too dark.

Best Shopping Centre. Best product IMO. Best color, best card-feel, best thickness. I'm going to buy more from them. Fetches certainly, but also try out some Legacy stuff.

The good thing with Aliexpress is that, from my experience, if you bitch and moan enough about their product in the review of it, they will likely offer you 'a refund' which they (in their chinaman lack of precision with English) use to mean a 'partial refund'. But if you take it to arbitration, the arbiters from aliexpress side with you and give you the full refund. Make sure to keep the email trail of evidence, because you can screenshot that shit and use it as evidence.

And without sleeves.

You can still see the difference either way, but if you were playing a full playset of them, without any real ones in the mix, I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference.
>>
>>47370318
When there's that much difference you almost have to go all fakes.

>>
>>47370318

Legit magic cards can look off too so if you have one of those in a deck with 3 real ones it won't be enough to accuse you unless they force you to take the card out of the sleeve and inspect it further.
>>
>>47370521
They are. But you also learn to disregard them because that's all they do.

Should i get abzan liege/Wilted Abzan?
>>
>>47370037
Not really.

The MTG secondary market is fucked, so getting around it using proxies is easy to rationalize.

The Chinese guys who make the proxies are probably poor and do this work alongside their soul-crushing assembly line jobs, so screwing them out of a few dollars just because you're THAT cheap feels wrong.
>>
Honestly Spartz is ok, she has fine synergy with LSV.
>>
>>47370609

>>
>>47370633
>I don't sell the cards but i trade them to get what i need
That's the only thing that's actually wrong, because you're lying to other players AND taking advantage of them.
>>
>>47370674
>Is more wrong to get their cards that their money
Its a thing of perspective. i'm trading cardboard for cardboard that costed the same to produce. not cardboard for paper that has legally a value of acquisition in other context besides the hobby.
>>
>>47370700
Same argument can be said of counterfeit money
>>
>>47370700
No, it's more wrong to trade OR sell the proxies than to buy or use the proxies, you mong.

Selling fakes to people makes you worse than the Chinese. It makes you a thief.

>>
Are Villa counterfeits the best? Anyone here order dual lands from him?
>>
>>47370700
Legally the market value that you scam people of whether cardboard, plastic, dogshit willl be used to determine your punishment/crime. So just because it's cardboard for cardboard and not cardboard for money doesn't make it legally any better unless you explicitly tell them it's fake. And obviously you're already a morally bankrupt dong.
>>
>>47370700
yeah you're walking the slippery rope

if you only use fakes yourselves and get caught, you can probably get away with it

if you sell fakes to other people, you'll be a pariah and chances are charges will be pressed, because what you do is scamming.

if you want to get out, just go to everyone you traded the fakes and tell them your source of cards was getting you fakes and you discovered it only now, and then reverse the trade. it won't be pleasant, but it won't get you in jail.

Yea, I made about 3 grand selling fakes.
Using human proxies of course, at WORST you can plea ignorance.

You could probably fight it and say you sold them as real and they swapped with fakes.

There's really no way to lose. Besides maybe getting caught locally and having rep tarnished. But that still dosent stop you from selling online.
>>
>>47370936
There are no legal precedents/basis about this stuff which is always a huge risk. If shit hits the fan, I'd hate to be in your position, since you might very well walk free, but also go to jail.

Also how do you want to plea ignorance? Judge will ask how you acquired the fakes for below market price, so you could sell/trade them.

A bud of mine got caught at GP Toronto a year or two ago with fake Fulminator Mages. He feigned ignorance, and the organizers forced him to buy new ones from vendors or trade for them if he wanted to continue the tournament, which he did.

What no judge who inspected his deck caught was that all of his Lilis, Goyfs, and 90% of his manabase were all counterfeits. Walked out of there free with his DCI membership in good standing.
>>
>>47371262
How he got caught? Random deck check? How good/bad the Fulminators were? I'd imagine they had to be pretty sloppy, since it's hard to tell a double sleeved fake during a regular deckcheck.
>>
>>47370604
I think that depends on what your goals are. Do you just want a fun deck?

Do you want a second deck to beat the metawhen it adjusts, making infect bad? If thats the case, i would maybe build black green infect, as it seems better able to beat control. Or maybe Tron or Scapeshift if Jund is a problem for you.
>>
>>47370700
I would fistfuck your face if i had the chance.
>>
>>47370426
Left one is real, actually. The fakes tend to go darker—which sometimes makes them look 'better' (or at least crisper) than the real ones.

>>47370371
To be safe, for sure. But I play these in a burn deck, so I've been without incident so far with them mixed with reals. They all go to the graveyard anyways, and stack up on one another.
>>
>>47371298
They were really bad. The text was as blurry as parkinsons photography. It was actually an opponent who brought them into question.
The upside was that the judges expected all fakes to look as shitty, so the bright fetches/shocks and dark Lili/Goyfs got an instant pass.
>>
>>47371363
You can't really identify a fake only because of it's brightness, since real cards are wildly inconsistent, too. Also it's only really visible when you directly compare the cards unsleeved.

If you have decent double sleeved fakes, presumably even the matte ones, you are completely safe.
>>
What decks can you play now that you couldn't play because of Splinter Twin?
>>
>>47371778
I know you're going for the metaphorical approach, but maybe Living End since it lost its worst MU and 3 mana wraths on turn 2 seem okay in the current meta, even though it was playable with Ricochet Trap in the sb back in the day as well.
>>

Fuckin' Vintage really?, out of all cards in SoI, when shit like Traverse the Ulvenwald and Cryptolith Rite are printed and THIS is the one card that sees eternal format play?

I got a couple, what are the odds they become cash in my pockets?
>>
>>47373462

vintage is a unique format, especially for creatures

a lot of creatures suck in the context of your opponent also having multiple creatures, but if they have none, it can be vintage viable, i.e. scab clan berserker
>>
>>47373462
Uh, quite a bit is playable in Legacy.

Thing in the Ice has been doing quite well, Tireless tracker is starting to see quite a lot of play as an advantage engine for non-blue fair decks (Maverick/Nic Fit primarily), and the meme frog also sees play in Nic Fit.
>>
>>47373502
Well, fuck me in the ass with a red-hot iron if I understand the first thing about Vintage or what passes for viable in it. If anything I though those two and maybe Avacyn would be Vintage viable.

Likewise I get the feeling that Modern is full of powerhouses that never see play because they don't fit in a deck. Maybe they were standard staples back in the day, maybe they were part of a Modern deck that fell in desuse. But the more I look the more convinced am I there's lots of untapped potential in this format.

Look at the new Avacyn for example. She's all the rage in Standard for a very simple reason: the fact that she's crazy powerful and can win you games with ease. And yet, 0 Modern play.

The Gitrog monster is another case. Guy seems practically MADE for dredge and still manages to see no play.

I bet that if we started dilligently brewing we could put out one T1 Modern deck every other week.
>>
>>47373631
>Tireless tracker
That card's the shit. Got it in my Bant Clues deck and it just puts out so, so much work. Investigate is turning out to be a very fun mechanic.

>>

>>
>>47373811
My bud did make a Dredge list for Gitrog and immediately fell in love with it, so there's that.

Rattlechains is THE shit. Pure untapped potential.

Lots of tricks on their sleeves.

I won't lie, its not elves or merfolk, but mass hexproof from Drogskol Captain is a very useful tool, plus, Phantasmal Image + Aether Vial allows you to have 2 lords by turn 3.

Instant Hexproof from Rattlechains wards from Path, Bolt and the like, and its mass flash effect is great alongside Topplegeist, perhaps one of the best 1-drops ever printed. There's not many great ETB effects for this tribe though. Just a couple of good ones would make the tribe good enough for Modern.

The high number of creatures goes great with Anafenza, an excellent legendary that gives all your creatures a lot of board pressence alongside the Drogskol / Phantasmal Image combo, and if tokens are more your cup of tea the tribe has some of the best token generators out there, Spectral Procesion, Lingeribg Souls, Promise of Bunrei...

There's also Saint Traft, whose power speaks for itself. I personally don't quite think he fits in the deck, but he IS able to put the hurt on te opponent real fast.

the real seller for me is Godhead of Awe though. Most of the creatures you play have lowish P/T, so your side of the board doesn't loose much while keeping the +1/+1 effects from counters and lords. On the other side the opponent's board is left in shambles. You can't even get rid of Godhead because at that point everything has Hexproof or if not they could just play a Rattlechains.

Tribal also means the deck uses Cavern of Souls which means these fuckers can't be countered. All in all, its very hard to get rid of them other than a total boardwipe and even then the fact the deck's part blue means they'll just counter that shit.

Here's a link to the list I use

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/17-04-16-CET-spirit-tribal/
>>
>>47374538
Ayy, I remember making that with you guys. You actually built it? How does it run?
>>
>>47374538
Is the black splash really worth it? Lingering souls is a very very good card, but why are you playing a Dimir Catpurse? It's body is kinda shitty and has no evasion. Also, why Anguished Unmaking, and why are you not running a full playset of Paths? Bloodghasts I'm kinda iffy about because of the double black. I'm also failing to see the reason for the random 2 serum visions.
>>
>>47374538
Lovin' that sb
>>
>>47374538
If I use Mirror Entity's ability to buff all of my creatures, does that override Godhead of Awe's constant effect until the end of turn? If so I think I just found the perfect addition to my UW Bird Tribal deck, they were all 1/1s anyways.

>>47374769
Its quite gud. I was actually the one who got Godhead in there. Anguished Unmaking, Always Watching, Invasive Surgery and Ojutai's Command were my suggestions too.

I've also been testing some cards, like pic related in place of Serum Visions or Lingering Souls.

I've been also testing wether it'd be convenient to change the colors from Esper to Bant. There are quite a few tricky but possibly good spirits in there. A small list:

>Kodama of the Center Tree
>Kodama of the South Tree
>Lifespinner
>Loam Dweller
>Sekki, Season's Guide
>Seedborn Muse
>Windborm Muse

There's more (and the last ain't green), but I don't want to bore you. If you are interested though we could talk about possible changes to the list in a new Spirit tribal thread (wouldn't want to derail the Modern general would we?)

>>47374840
Unguished Unmaking is there for the Tron matchup.

Dimir Cutpurse I never really liked personally, but the draw bad discard ARE nice... I guess.

I do run a full set of paths, but I cannot modify that list myself.

The Bloodghasts are really good. They work great with Anafenza and give the deck both attacking power and endurance. Like Anafenza, the casting cost isn't too much of an issue because you can play it with Aether Vial.

The Serum Visions I wasn't there when they got included. Prolly would have argued against it. I think the main objective was triggering Topplegeist's delirium?, That's why I want to change them by Promise of Bunrei, which not only does that but also gives a shitload of tokens.

I've been wondering about that black splash myself, but it does give you access to a lot of cool tech. I even came to consider 4 color spirits but even I am not that ballsy.

>>47375562
I'd also perhaps would relegate Anguished Unmaking to the sideboard completely. I can see it being a reasonable tech card against Tron, but having just that 1 card in a deck of 60 cards makes it unreliable. You can't reasonably rely on it to come to your rescue if you need to exile that Karn asap. Also, is Tron really that prevalent in you meta in the first place? I'm also really iffy on the card being mainboard because of the three life loss. That is just a deathwish against burn, affinity, and other linear aggro decks.

I'm also meh about the invasive surguries, and the 1 of remand. You're deck's mainboard doesn't run any counterspells at all, so having 3 counterspells (incredibly niche ones at that) seems out of place. The reason why you see things like 2 Negates and 1 Dispels in sideboard for control decks, is to switch out their 7ish mainboard counterspells to better counter their opponent's gameplan. I would take them out entirely for something else, you're an aggro deck, not a control deck.
>>
>>47373212
>>47373227
Modern Dredge also uses it.
It has such nice synergy with Gravecrawler and Bloodghast.

>>
>>47371257

That makes a lot of sense. As for the sideboard, sideboards are generally very meta-specific, so while I did cut the counterspells, you should be making your own anyway.

>>47375701
Excuse me, the chan just decided not to work for a whole hour for me. Just when I was sending my post too.

Anyways, I have a few suggestions:

>Remove Essence Flux
They are nice tribal support, but what do they really do for the deck when everything already has Hexproof and you can just cast Rattlechains for 1 more?, If these creatures had powerful ETB effects It'd have a pass, but as it is the counter they give is just not worth it.

>Delegate Anguished Unmaking to the sideboard
>>47375973 is 100% right about this. You should up the number to at least 3 in the sideboard though, when you need it you really want to run into it and this deck doesn't have draw and can't tutor it either.

>Remove Kira, add more Kataki
Kira does jackshit, I haven't used him a single time or ran into any situation I would have wanted to cast him. Kataki on the other hand I can't even begin to describe how hard he shits on artifact-based decks, specially when he has hexproof and can't be countered. Really, he's so good that you could even take out Stony Silence for more space on the SB though you won't see me doing that because I have a particularly strong disgust for Affinity.

>Remove Ojutai's Command
A sad lone command does very little sitting on the sideboard like that.

>Add in Windborn Muse
Holy shit this spirit is stupid good. Taxing this strong is very useful and gimps Aggro and Midrange decks. Honestly I expect it to be a silver bullet against Abzan Company. Plus, it kind of combos with Promise of Bunrei since Promise is a deterrent that keeps your opponents from blocking to prevent you from putting a shitton of tokens boosted by lords while Windborn makes it so they can't take the chance to strike back effectively. At worst its prime Sideboard material.

>Add in another Anafenza
You REALLY want to see an Anafenza every game you play. After all those +1/+1 counters make possible attacking for 15 T4. She's part of the 'ideal game scenario', so to speak.

I'm not so sure this tribal wants to go full aggro. There are quite a few card in the tribe that support a more control-oriented style of play. I'd say its 60% aggro, 40% control.

Also the Invasive Surgeries were there for the Scapeshift matchup. No Scapeshift in your meta -> no Surgeries. if anything Mana Leak would be the counterspell to go with, specially with other taxing effects like Windborn Muse.

One last note on Promise of Bunrei. Like Windborn, it is great if you are playing VS aggro or something that uses boardwipes since it fiercely repopulates your board afterwards (doubly so with Lingering Souls), but VS control you might like Spectral Procession better. It only generates one token less and unlike Bunrei's they fly. The evasion really helps closing games quickly.

Also my friend suggested a little common, albeit I'm unsure about its possible inclussion. Dreamcatcher was the name. I prefer Ghost-lit Redeemer though.

Ichorid can come into play turn 2 if its in your first bazaar activation. Amalgam comes in turn 3 at the absolute earliest.

On top of that, Ichorid does not require a second creature to enter play to do something.

Ichorid is the weakest creature in the deck, I don't think Amalgam is necessary outside of pitch dredg maybe

Hey friendos, I have a question on order of things.

Let's say I have a mass of creatures and someone plays a spell that will destroy all creatures or something that does lethal damage to them.

one of my creatures allows me to sacrifice creatures to do something like gain life or draw cards.

So I choose to sacrifice all the creatures I had to draw cards, gain life, or whatever. Is this something I can do?

Is Tron the most skill-intensive deck in Modern?
>>
MM or Ravnica Bobs?
>>
>>47392369

>>
>>47392304
no, tron is a FUN deck ;^)
>>
>>47392369
MM
I like the darker tone and honestly I think the art is just silly for ravnica one
>>
>>47392304
Tron is Lucksack, The Deck. Luck alone determines whether or not you can start playing by turn 3.
>>
>>47392648
>what is the game of Magic
I'll agree that you can draw into Tron and luck is a little more relevant, but knowing the most effecient way to get to it isn't really straightforward
>>
>>47392304
It's probably one of the most anger inducing.

>>47392648
The entire deck is built around setting up tron by turn 3 or 4. It's hardly luck: that's just how the deck is built.
>>
>>47387243
and I was going to pay money to go to this, I guess I should thank work for taking me away.

GPLA meta looks nice, modern seems very open. Looking forwards to what ends up the streamlines version of Eldrazi/Tron since they seem to be merging.
>>
>>47388823
I dont see how CC is any different than Twin, can someone explain?
>both cost 4
>both 90% of the time in hand will let you combo win
>both done end step (instant/flashing in for twin on your turn)

not saying either need banning, just dont get why one was banned and the other wasnt when they end up doing the same thing
>>
>>47388876
wait for cristaline to be reprinted
>>
>>47392304
I've played pretty much everything, and Tron doesn't even come to mind as difficult.

What does come to mind:
Amulet Bloom
Norin Twin (can you play an entire event without missing a single trigger?)
Affinity (some math, deal with it)
UR Storm (to win, you have to play it perfectly)
>>
>>47392867
things that will never ever be modern legal: the post sadly
>>
>>47392833
The control elements in twin ensures they can push their combo through removal as well as slow other combo decks.

Also, Infinite life is beatable for some decks, infinite exarchs much less so.
>>
>>47392732
>>47392758
You can go 8 turns without assembling Tron, through no fault of your own. It's luck when you get it by turn 3, and it's luck when you get run over without finding it.
>>
>>47392916
No, that rarely happens on its own unless your opponent has never played tron, and thus doesn't know what hands to keep, or your opponent is directly interacting with your lands or your tutors.

12 tron lands
4 sylvan, 4 maps
8 stars

That's 28 cards, almost half your deck.
>>
>>47392883
>Affinity (some math, deal with it)

Affinity is more 'know when to mull, spew hand and hope for no sweeper/g2 sb hate'. Burn is even a more difficult deck certain match ups, just because you keep cards in-hand and have to decide if they got to face or a bird/threat.
>>
>>47392897
maybe the next legendary is a hexproof one
>>
>>47392977
But it can happen, and it does happen in major tournaments, and there's nothing the pilot can do about it.
>>
>>47392916
1. Any deck can draw that badly if god hates them. Saying "you can lose because you didnt draw your wincon" is applicable to most every deck
2. Assebling Tron turn 3 is fairly consistent, i don't know what you mean. The deck is built to do it.
>>
>>47392992
yeah but that fucker will be expensive manawise. hexproof seems too powerful without a "other slivers" wording
>>
>>47392978
>know when to mull, spew hand and hope for no sweeper/g2 sb hate
That reductionism

Burn is more 'throw your hand at your opponent's face and hope that's good enough'. See what I did there? Affinity is more difficult than you give it credit for, and if you've never played it before, please stop. Also, I've played burn since Zendikar and only recently switched to Affinity. Affinity is harder, deal with it.
>>
>>47392992
one mana of each color 7/7 or 5/5 like always
>>
>>47387243
The thousand people that dropped were the thousand that didn't stand a chance anyways.

Mayor fuckup though. I won't argue that.
>>
>>47393005
Sure it happens. Bad luck happens to every deck. Tron is not unique in this instance.

Legacy is almost non existentes where I live. I dont know, I enjoy doing deals and trading, I sold a Tooth and Nail (without lands) and an incomplete Merfolks to get an Affinity Deck. I got a playset of Wooded Foothills (plus a playset of Bloodstain Mire in LE), and had that idea, since it would cost less than 100€ to finish, but im scared I might not like it, specially when compared to Affinity.
