Plasmna Pistol
Liber Heresius
Rad Grenades
Psychotroke Grenades
3 x Servo Skulls
Power Armour
Ordo Xenos Inquisitor 28pts
1x SevoSkulls

Elites
6x Inq. Warband (6 x 65pts each = 390pts)

11 Acolytes w/Bolter (5pts each)
1 Psyker (10pts)

2x Inq Warband (2 x 235pts each = 470pts)
5 Jokaero (35pts each)
Chimera w/ Dozer Blade (60pts)

1x Inq Warband (265pts)
3 Crusader (15pts each)
4 Death Cult Assassin (15pts each)
1 Ministorum Pries (25 pts)
Valkyrie w/ Multilaser, RocketPods (135 pts)

Lords of War
1x Knight Crusader (470pts)
Avenger Gatling Cannon
Rapid fire Battle Cannon
Storm Spear Rocket Pod
Heavy Flamer
Heavy Stubber

The first 2 inquisitors would ride in the valk with the combat warband.

Would replacing the knight with an AM artillery detachment be a better use of the pts for some big guns ?

>>
How many flyers is considered reasonable in a 1500 point army? If I pull out three Vultures and two Valkyries, will people call me a WAAC fag?
>>
>>47365955
You realize that with 5 Jokaero you break the buff roll, right?
>>
>>47366017
That's a whole FUCKTON of air, at least using my local meta group as reference.
In my group 0-1 flyers are the norm. 2 is considered to be on the less fun side of things, and any more than that people won't want to play you.
>>
>>47366017
Yeah, possibly. It's kind of the same problem as knight armies, either people can hard counter you or they can't, and the game kind of sucks if the enemy has a load of basically untouchable units. Multiple vultures may not help your case either.

I'd say for planned games that's fine, but dropping that list in a pick up game is probably a dick move.
>>
>>47366116
What if it was 2 of each and my entire army was only 9 units, counting dedicated transports separately?

>>47366129
Knight armies are garbage, though. Even Orks have the advantage in an objectives game.
>>
>>47366153
>in an objectives game.
They may be able to win, but just standing on objectives taking cover save rolls isn't exactly fun.
>>
>>47366041

>>
>>47366319
So, blob squads? I'd look into Renegades and Heretics for that.
>>
>>47366379
is just that my average opponent use drop pods squads with meltas, so an average tank is destroyed in two turns

also i just hate tank only armies.
>>
>>47366395

>>
>>47366283
Intentionally bad is still bad.
>>
>>47366395

>>
>>47366434

>>
Question on coherency:
If my guys are arranged in a line, and the line is severed thanks to the death of one or more dudes, what happens to the models that aren't coherent anymore? Do they automatically move into a coherent spot?
>>
>>47366438
Noone suggested only tanks.
Tanks$Artillery with meaty bubblewrap.

Trying to blob it up is at best an admirable investment into GW stock or a gimmick hoping 6 turns won't be enough to kill all the obsec bodies planted on objectives.
>>
>>47366463
You must spend your movement phase doing it yourself
>>
>>47366501
OK - thankyou
>>
>>47366495
sso yeah, is there any list with that? im surely not going with only infantry either since they cant do shit.
>>
>>47366438
I suggested R&H because it has rules more conducive to masses of footslogging infantry. Death Korps of Krieg is pretty good for that, too.

Also, Inquisitor Coteaz in a Quad Gun is 200 points that will fuck up any Deep Strike shenanigans. It's a solid counter to any alpha strike list.
>>
>>47366515
>any Deep Strike shenanigans
within twelve inches. Someone tries that one on GK and it bounces off unless you're also sitting with plasma servitors and acolytes, in which case its even pricier. Finally, you can just pod your combimelta sternguard outside of the 12" bubble but within melta range and do it that way
>>
>>47366515
Ok, im a complete idiot that does not understand anything

now you say footslogging infantry, but chimeras and tanks can only move 6" too but im probably missing some rules since i dont have any codex
also i google for RH but cant find anything
>>
>>47366535
It's all a matter of positioning. Coteaz denies a 24" bubble, and you can use Lascannon turrets if you're afraid of Terminators.

>>47366539
Transports have smoke launchers and present a single target for templates rather than 50. They also soak up a surprising amount of damage that would otherwise murder your infantry with no saved allowed.

Renegades and Heretics is a Forgeworld faction. It's basically Chaos IG, but it's got a flavor all its own. It includes a formation specifically for infantry blobs that can bring back destroyed units on a roll of 2+.
>>
>>47366624
so i should ditch stuff like the coinscripts in favour of vets on chimeras only? right now my list is
company command squad

>company command squad: 65
>infantry platoon 2 vanilla troopers+30 conscripts: 245
>two vets on chimera with melta and plasma and a commissar for each squad 220+200
>leeman russ battle tank with lascannon and heavy bolters on the side+leeman russ exterminator (thinking about adding plasmas on the side): 310
>one priest: 25

Have a 2v2 bike game tomorrow.

3000pts per side it is my Ravenwing with a friend's White Scars against flithy Xenos bikers (Ork and Eldar)

Pretty excited because it seems like it will be fun but I don't know if carrying the Orks will be enough to slow down the Eldar.

Our only guidelines are that 1000/1500 have to be put towards bikes, no LoW/Super Heavies and no D.

Does it sound like it will be a good game or should we split up teams a different way. We already threw the Ally Table and Rules out of the window.

Hey guys. Haven't played since 5th but want to get back in. I play Blood Angel's with Dark Angel's allies (since the original 2nd ed. Angels of Death Codex). With the advent of Formations and such, I put together a theoretical list for 1850 point games.
Any thoughts or advice would be welcome. I tried for a fluffy, but hard-hitting list. I don't *think* it's a WAAC list...

Angel's Fury Spearhead Strike Force - 1080 points
-3 Storm Ravens
(TLAC, Multimelta)
-3 10 man Tactical Squads each w/
(Heavy Flamer, Melta Gun)

Ravenwing Abductor Squadron - 490 points
-1 Dark Talon
-2 Nephalem Jet Fighters

Combined Arms Detachment - 280 points
HQ - Brother Corbulo
Troops - 5 man Scout Squad
(Teleport Homer, Storm Bolter, 2 SR, H.Bolter)
Troops - 5 man Scout Squad
(Teleport Homer, Storm Bolter, 2 SR, H.Bolter)

Summary:
5 Troop Slots w/ Objective Secured
40 Models
6 Flyers
5 Heavy Weapons
5 Special Weapons

Weaknesses:
- No AP 3/2
- Warlord weak in challenge
- No hard-hitting Assault Squads

Sounds gross. To each their own I suppose. Did they change the cost of the RW fliers in that book because with the same units the Silence Squadron is 500pts.

It isn't WAAC at all, kind of looks.... not so good.
>- No AP 3/2
>>
>>47366980
The flying formation is 490 points bare.
I DO get the rift cannon.
I've got 9 rending shots a turn from the Storm Ravens so that's something. Also Corbulo has rending on his attacks so there's that too.
I'll run it and see what happens.

Anyone got games this weekend?

My friend recently started a Tau army so we are having a 750pt game this afternoon.

So far no Riptides so that is cool.

He will be bringing Crisis Suits, a Commander and a Broadside and a bunch of scattered drones. Then a single squad of (I think) Fire Warrior Breachers.

Not sure if I should take it easy on him or teach him that his army is still killable.
>>
>>47367193
I was going to have a game but I'd have to face a Knight Crusader and Grav Centurions for a fifth time so I passed. What are you using against the Tau?
>>
How viable would be a template spam AM army?
Grenade launchers, mortars, flamers, Basilisks, Wyverns, Manticores and maybe a Russ variant or two... you know, all the fun stuff.
>>
>>47367217
>What are you using against the Tau?

Depends how nice I want to be.

CAD Necrons is probably the easiest for him to deal with.

Dark Eldar may be too fragile to bring anymore. They may just flop but probably hit harder then a bunch of Necron Warriors.

Space Wolves without TWC or a minimal unit of them OR RWSF could get up in his suits face really quick.

Lastly a small IG force, but I am unsure he could deal with a single Leman Russ at 750.
>>
>>47367239
Viable enough to be a pain in casual but not so much it wouldn't get wrecked by anyone trying.
>>
>>47367243
If he's totally new and hasn't played before I'd say the Guard might be a good army to introduce with but it really depends on what Russ variant it is.

IMO the second skull cannon would do more work.
Good think you banned them but what about GCs?

Off the top of my head my cheesier 1000pt list with multiple HQs looks something like:

Interrogator Chaplin on bike with MoR - 160
Techmarine on bike with Servo Pack - 110
6 man Ravenwing Command Squad with apoth, banner and champ.
3 Grav Bikers
A double MultiMelta Landspeeder

Then the Ravenwing Support Squadron with a Darkshroud and three Double Heavy Bolter Landspeeders.

Basically the lone landspeeders and the regular bikers do their own thing but the Support Squadron follows around the Command Squad with a big ol' ball of 2+ jink and says kill this or lose.

The only way you would deal with that is if your heldrake had the baleflamer.

GCs are banned too. Second skull cannon would probably do more, only reason I'm not doing it immediately is because the majority of the club plays Space Marine variations, and many of them like to play meaty HQs. Skulltaker has an incredible track record of effortlessly taking out beefy HQs way above his points cost, but on the other hand I will need that skull cannon to deal with anything that isn't marines.

It's a spooky list, especially since our resident DA player loves his ravenwing and grav, he could very well field something similar. I need the hades autocannon though, since the heldrake is my only anti-air.

What the fuck is he doing? (He's saying it's from the new flyer book, but I can't see anything there)

What are some fun Admech lists you can think off, dosent have to be "the best" but should be fun to play with
>>
>>47368493

Why wouldnt you let him reroll it?
>>
>>47368493
Even in the most casual of games I always operate under the "phase rule," in that if a rule that should take place doesn't by the end of any particular phase, it shouldn't be redone or applied retrospectively, this does, however, include both positive and negative rules.

Does anyone else have the autism to give rules to situations like this or is it all just down to how you're feeling?

Honestly I've always loved the Cohort Mechanicus as perhaps the best formation in the entire game, not due to crunch, though. While yes it is an incredibly effective force the main reason why it's so great is it lets you pick up a bit of experience and playtime with virtually everything in the books.

Alternatively, if you're allowing FW stuff, Tech-Thralls, just loads and loads and loads and LOADS of Tech-Thralls.

The Kryptman Ultimatum / Lethal Gambit

"The task force has anticipated the arrival of the Tyranid fleet and decided to lead one enemy against the other - a dangerous underpinning indeed. Luring the Tyrants and Warrior Primes via subtle psychic-suggestion, the task force must in turn be wary of the predations of The Great Devourer.

Ally Rules: 2 units gets +1B and Preferred Enemy: Tyranids. On the last turn of the game, all units must pass a leadership test (roll individually) or make a shooting attack against their Tyranid allies.

Tyranids: Preferred enemy: Ally.
If the enemy is brought to 50% fighting effectiveness (calculate via victory points), Tyranid units will turn on their "allies". Roll a leadership test for each melee unit: for each failure, the unit must attack, (or if out of range, run) towards the nearest allied unit. Units armed with ranged weapons may elect to fire their weapon at the nearest ally or enemy unit.

Genestealer Cult: Astra Militarum

Heresy begins to stir amongst the troops. Whether they be planetary defense, a Governor's honour guard, or the grim sentinels of the penal legionnaires, few armies are safe from the clutches of The Great Devourer if a Genestealer incursion is initiated.

Dark rumours begin to circulate of treachery and betrayal at the core of the army. Troopers begin to exhibit vile mutations, officers engage in sinister cults, and rumors begin to circulate of shadowy creatures stalking the garrison...

Over time the task force is completely overrun, vile mutants appearing from the darkness to take up arms against those still loyal to the Imperium. Indoctrinated troopers turn away from the light of the Emperor, brainwashed by the horrifying mind control of the Genestealer's Kiss. Tyranid organisms begin to appear: Gargoyles swoop down over defaced Chimera transports, Lictor vanguard organisms protect bloodthirsty cultist-guardsmen, and a Commanding Magus rallies his troops towards The Great Devourer.
>>
>>47368773
It has SoBs, IGs, and Orks. Used to have Eldar.
>>
Question: someone at my table had gotten to talking about sanctioned psykers of the Imperium, and seemed convinced that the majority of them have watchers assigned specifically to them ready to blow their head off should they start showing signs of losing control. Not commissars mind you, but members of the astra telepathica assigned to the individual as a controller. Could be that I'm just gullible, but seeing as psykers are relatively rare I'm ready to believe that the organization meant to control them is ready to prepare a regular human jailer to each of their sanctions. Are there any books that confirm this? It sounds like it could be an interesting facet of lore of true.

I had a talk with people at my game store about not using formation, and got what I expected. So now the only thing left to do is to adapt. Are there any good ways for IG to beat eldar/marine armies, as those two are the most common here? I was told something about rules that come from outside GW, but are suppose to be fully legal. If those have good IG rules it would be awesome, even more if I wouldn't have to buy any new models. Ally seem to be another way, only I don't realy want to buy another codex, plus I do not know which ally are best for my army.

I have no problems with how anyone takes part in this hobby as long as they have fun and don't shit on others interests.

We have a guy at our shop who just makes terrain for us and paints the occasional model and last month some people were giving him shit for not playing but participating in discussion and I was like "Look, this man has been in the hobby for over ten years. As far as recasters go I think its fine as long as it isn't talked about in shop and thrown in a store owners face. Not everyone has the money or wants to pay GWs prices and that is fine.

>>47370022
Unfortunately, I've met people with recasters and they do brag "lol I only paid X for this, you got jew'd".

I also used to play a competative arcade game. I used to order rare cards from Japan which worked on the English version. I went into a tournament, told I could only use 5 rare cards, but when I got there, they changed the rule and allowed any number. So I'm there with a limited deck and I come 4th. I lose because the kids I'm playing all had fakes. They download the 'code', you know, like those things you scan, and put real cards over the top to make it look like legit cards. But they had insane teams.

So I'm not a fan of recasters or people who cheat. I feel like it's cheating. But that's just me. The other guy is right thou, it does tickle me as well.

>Why more Tau stuff? Fucking GWews!
>I play X and they don't get support!
>What? I don't pay Jew prices, I buy from recasters!

Etc. If they enjoy it, good. It is a game. But I'm bitter, that's all, bad experiences.

Also, those guys giving him shit are dicks. I'd love a guy like that in my FLGS.

>>47370342
since when can you wound anything out of LoS except with blasts? That's not in the BRB.

>>47370376
Since you can shoot at a unit if you see any part of it, and you can allocate wounds to the unit. If you want you can shoot Private Joe Head-poke-out and allocate the wounds to Sergeant Blaine In-Full-Cover.

You shoot at units, not models. And models out of LOS provide cover to the unit. But one model in a unit is in LOS, then the unit is still shootable, regardless of how many models are not in LOS.

Hey, can I get some feedback on a list? It's Tyrant's Legion list I whipped up in just a night, so it's probably not that great, but it's just for a quick casual game.

HQ
>Carnac Commodus - 105 pts
>4x Auxilia Bodyguards and Tribune w/ carapace armour, krak grenades and heavy weapon team - 110 pts

ELITES
>10x Retaliators w/ Rhino, meltagun and power maul - 240 pts

TROOPS
>10x Auxilia Armsmen w/ Chimera, meltagun, krak grenades and a meltabomb - 155 pts
>30x Legion Auxilia w/ x3 flamers - 115 pts
>15x Legion Space Marines w/ 2x heavy bolters

HEAVY SUPPORT
>Contemptor Dreadnought w/ Extra Armour, Heavy Flamer and Kheres Assault Cannon - 210 pts
>2x Rapier Laser Destroyers w/ Prefect - 75 pts
>2x Basilisks - 250 pts

I was thinking of getting rid of the rapiers and some other gear and go for some dedicated heavy armour instead, as this list is mostly infantry with only a few transports. Or maybe just go "fuck it" and spent it on more auxilia for maximum pink tide.

Yes. As I said, I'm bitter. Piracy allows 'try before you buy', which, despite barely any buying the game at full price once they've tried it, has at least the ability to do so.

Buying Forge World models en masse then bragging about it and their 'sekrit club' just annoyed me.

As I said anon, I'm bitter. Do whatever you want, you won't stop buying recasts or pirating shit, so why does my opinion matter?
>>
>>47369977
>when they don't even support them for the models they want.
GW can give us models, but supporting them won't fix the major issues involving the game and its internal/external balance

Lots of people do. I don't mind, it's not me doing it. Nobody gets punished for pirating. So it comes down to ''''morals''''. I don't want to pirate as I fear I'd treat games and stuff differently. If you pay for it, you're more likely to try and get the most out of it.

Very true, but unbalance like the difference of Eldar and Orks has to be intentional presuming GW isn't filled with honest to god autistic mental midgets. Blatant favoritism such as we have in this game for what ever reason it maybe is not good for anyone because it even hurts those players who play with favored armies
>>
>>47370646
I don't think so anon. If it was intentional, they would purposely make Orks better, or make one unit better, to sell it to Ork players looking for good units.

But, you might be right.

You would think but lets look at the CSM. 11% of ~750 fa/tg/uys most popular army in the pool at least collects them even though they are probably the most out of date and in a pretty shitty spot in general. Despite the old/bad rules and ancient models they still seem to sell, so does GW have any reason to fix any of the problems CSM has?
>>
>>47370826
You could choose to roll wounds individually, so you could reroll them one at a time.
>>
>>47370826
"You MAY re-roll the result"

That means you can choose whether or not you want to. Which technically means you can re-roll successful results as well if you really feel like it.

I still don't get why anybody thinks that Tau is a top army. Even at their most exploitative, kill the marker lights and assault owns them every time. Spam jump infantry and fast vehicles and they fold like a chair.

I know this because I play tau.
>>
>just now getting into 40K

>>
>>47370826
This >>47370855
Specifically batch rolling is done for convenience, it's not how the game works by default.
>>
>>47370834
Well we know CSM will be updated this year, so, look forward to that. We'll see what happens.

>>47370866
This is probably the reason.

>X guy makes X rules, which he thinks are balanced
>Y guy makes Y rules, which he thinks are balanced
>Y rules are better than X rules because the idea of balance is subjective and balance changes when put next to other rules

The only solution is to give everybody the same stats.
>>
>>47371016
It's resin, and it's expensive because people will pay for it.

Just go to china for FW stuff.
>>
>>47371016
The same reason a digital download of a video game is 60 dollars
>>
>>47371016
Because they're resin and they're for specialists. Don't like it? Buy from Ebay. Buy proxies. Buy from recasters.

Or, don't get into a hobby in the first place, video games can be pirated, but even if you buy recasts, it will cost. So don't bother until you got a good income stream.
>>
>>47371001
>Kill the Markerlights
>Assualt
Nugger, I play Tau competitively, and you're retarded. If they're assaulting you in the first place you've fucked up.
>>
>>47371016
Death Korps in particular are all resin made by a branch of GW and are markedly more expensive. That said if you really like them either try picking up a little at a time or look for deals online in places like ebay. Alternatively you can try china recasts but contact info is hard to find and quality can vary but for the most part is fine. On the other hand you'll have those little expendables forever so its not a bad investment if you're serious and have a playgroup of friends/club to frequent.

>>47370302
I believe so. You also are supposed to roll and resolve hits by weapon type, so, for example:
>Ten Guardsmen are hiding behind a chimera, one Guard with a Plasmagun popped out to get a shot off. The rest are totally hidden.
>Space Marine squad with 4 Bolters and one missile launcher fire on the squad.
>Sm player declares he will fire the Bolters first.
>Let's say three hits, two kills.
>Guard player removes the plasmagun fellow as he is closest, makes a cover save and fails for the next guy, removes another model who is closest to the firing unit but out of LOS.
>The Missile launcher now cannot fire, as no one is in LOS anymore.

Is this correct? Typing it out it seems like it isn't, but I don't have the books handy.

Hive Fleet Ultramar eats so many Marines that it begins to follow the Codex Astartes and actively seeks out other Imperium groups to be friends with.

This has caused confusion when Tyranids have arrived to third-party on battles between xenos and Imperial forces. Instead of just eating everything, they kill all of the aliens and seem to make it a goal to protect civillians.

I think the decision not to use points for Age of Sigmar was a very interesting one, but one their community was not ready for.

Right when Age of Sigmar was release people immediately found ways to "break" the game, missing the point entirely.

Age of Sigmar has its faults, but the greatest of which isn't that it is a bad product, but that it wasn't the product people wanted.

A competitive assault army will always beat Tau. Always. You're either losing to 18 drop pods or Tyranid lists spamming shrikes and CC tyrants. You'll beat some Eldar and Cron armies, but hardcore assault armies win every time.

It could, I repeat, could, be a great game. My guess is it'll fail simply because people who never played WHFB will shit on it cause they read on DakkaDakka or Whineseer to do so.

Nothing about AoS is rule heavy. The hate it gets isn't about muh netlists, or muh WAAC boogyman and points won't fix the game in my eyes.

I hate that there is next to zero wargear options or customization.
I hate that wizards have one unique spell and no way to change it.
I hate the way everything hits and wounds on the same values with zero rules interactions.
The game feels so brainless, every fight seems the same.

I used have a collection of vampires to WHFB with a ton of different weapons and gear modeled on. Now it's just hit on 4s wound on 3s.

Not gonna be a retard asking for emails, can figure that shit out on my own, but do any Chinamen do BaC recasts? I'd love a fuckton of MKIV.

The magic seems to make units more 'unique' and stop shit like Slann Lore of Life bunkers.

As for your point on hits and shit, it mathematically works out the same, I believe. It's a way of removing the SvT work out.

Ah, sorry to hear that mate. Somewhat surprised that the likes of dettol and simple green would be disallowed yet you can apparently glue the models fine.
>>
>>47372571
can you get rubbing alcohol? that and an old toothbrush won't harm plastic but will remove acrylics fine
>>
>>47372592
probably. the contact i have even has long since out of print models. Got myself a fancy DKoK commissar on horseback recently.

I could try that.

They let me glue and paint models after my physical therapist convinced them that it would be good to keep my fucked nerves from just giving up on me. Painting is very therapeutic for me, even if I'm not good.

how about Brake Fluid? I tried it for the first time yesterday myself. worked like magic after only a two hour soak.

Most people I've seen complain don't like it cause it ended WHFB fluff.

But there is options for some models. For example, my Saurus Warriors have stats for Spears or Clubs. My Kroxigors have Maces, while some can wield Moon Mauls. My Skinks can have blowpipes or javelins.

As for the hit rules, I think it's to cut out the WS v WS, S v T stuff.

But, it isn't for everybody. I don't mind too much as I collect the models for fun, not for the games. I look forward to more models regardless. The new Tower stuff looks ace.

some primers will not be removed by rubbing alcohol, but I can vouch for its ability to remove Corax White at least.

Defender of the Fourth Cipher is an alternate rank in Rogue Trader for missionary or arch-militants of rank 2+. Navis Primer has them, but they seem more like an elite group than your regular ol' psyker keeper.
