51x brand new highly detailed plastic miniatures, the quality of which there is nothing else like it on the market. Some miniatures are brand new concepts for the army, and will excite many customers! The miniatures have a dynamic single pose and will require glue and assembly (they are not push fit, however easy to put together). The miniatures can be divided into two camps:

The Warhammer Quest Heroes
6x individual Warhammer Quest heroes
Knight Questor – The Paladin (Stormcast Eternal)
Darkoeth Chieftan – The Barbarian (Free People)
Fyreslayer Doomseeker The Dwarf (Dwarf)
Excelsior War priest & Gryph Hound – The header and war priest companion (Free People)
Mistweaver Saith – Female wizad (Aelf)
Tenebrand Shard – The assassin (Aelf)

The Denizens
44x individual Warhammer Quest monsters that live in the Silver Tower. The below list of miniatures make for a great addition or a start of an original Grand Alliance Chaos army!
Gaunt Summoner
Ogroid Traumaturge
2x Skaven Deathrunners
8x Familiars
6x Tzaangors (Beastmen)
8x Kairic Acolytes
2x Pink Horrors

The text is from an announcement from GW to retailers. I thought anons who play traditional games would be interested primarily in being informed about the exclusive launch packs.

I use to play Warhammer Quest quite often growing up in the 1990s and I am excited about this release though not thrilled about the Age of Sigmar setting.
>>

>>

So how about to post in AoS thread?
>I use to play Warhammer Quest quite often growing up in the 1990s and I am excited about this release though not thrilled about the Age of Sigmar setting.
Nice try shill but you are lying, people who really play traditional games prefer Dexcent, not poor designed AoS board game.

Have they told us the MSRP yet? I have ten bucks set on 120+ USD.
>>
>>47232274

Murica MSRP is $150 USD. The box is heavy the cheapest I have been able to find it so far is $135 shipping included from www.docsgamesstore.com but they don't have the launch packs.

I am debating paying full retail at the local GW store and selling the exclusives on ebay.

So how about to post in AoS thread?

Because this is a separate distinct game set in the same universe.

Myself I´m only interested in the Tzeentch minis so I dont give a fuck about the game.

I would like more info then that. If it is because it is similiar in name only to the orginal Warhammer Quest I could live with that if its still a fun game.

The sigmarine models don't snap my rectum as much as they do for some. They look like marines, that's fine. Marines look cool.

I think the gold/bronze colour scheme is kind of boring though. Painting them up in more classical greek statue marble with aged cracks wold be a neat interpretation of the eternal warrior vibe they go for.
>>
>>47239687
There is nothing wrong with Stormcasts.
>>
>>47241014
In of themselves no, in fantasy they not only don't fit the aesthetic but the lore is super shoehorned in and is so out there it tries to over shadow everything else because they're so awesome ecksdee
>>
>>47241266
>in fantasy they not only don't fit the aesthetic

There is no Fantasy aesthetic. Each and every army has it's own look. Stormcasts have their own look.

>the lore

Has nothing to do with how they look.
Of course they received a push, they're a new army.
>>
>>47241371
Hulking armored space men with huge space mariney pauldrons don't fit with the more or less old world look. As for the lore they completely shit all over the Empire of Man and basically have them play second fiddle because Sigmar deems it.
>>
>>47241431
>Hulking armored space men with huge space mariney pauldrons don't fit with the more or less old world look.

And big aztec dinosaurs don't fit with the old world look.
And egyptian skeletons don't fit with the old world look.
And edgy elves coated with razors don't fit with the old world look.
And wildly colorful demons from beyond time and space don't fit the old world look.
And who looks more old world, crazy quilt knights or puffy pantaloon professional soldiers?

Everyone has their own aesthetic.

>As for the lore they completely shit all over the Empire

The Empire has been dead for thousands of years at this point. And again, the lore has no bearing on how they look.

New video explaining some of the rules:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRWutV-6FCA

Looks like you roll four dice, place them on the four squares on your character sheet, then spend them to activate different abilities. Basic attacks require 1+ ie. any die, but better abilities require you to spend a die with a higher number. When you take damage you place damage markers on the die squares, meaning you'll have fewer dice to choose from for your abilities.

Limited edition stuff seems to be exclusive to preordering from stores. I imagine that ordering from them will also get you the Empire Wizard hero card GW is offering.

>>47234361

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of what is in the game makes it way to clampakcs and kits in either the same form or slightly different, probably won't be for a while though.

>>47241266
>>47241431

Fantasy doesn't matter because it's for all intents and purposes a separate universe.

GW went for them because despite /tg/ liking HFY and historicals, the Empire has simply shown itself to not be a good posterboy while Warriors of Chaos and Space Marines have.

Played a game of it in store this morning with two other people and I actually had great fun. One person played the GM, one played the barbarian who is actually a warrior a chaos and I played the mist weaver mage girl.

It's got some decent rules (that are somehow have more depth than regular AoS) while still being simple enough to remember. while it was challenging at times our two characters seemed to just steam roll all the enemies without much worry, even the gaunt summoner got trashed before he got to attack. That said we didn't play to the end and it wasn't the 'real' gaunt summoner.
Not sure if there is supposed to be a GM, monster roll on a "behaviour table" to decide what they do but someone still needs to decide where they move and who to attack if between two characters as well as roll dice for them and various events.

Stone Skull Studios just had a successfull kickstarter for mini-wargaming furniture and accessories. The stuff should be available on their website sometime in the future.

And if you want to stick with the swirling portal motif.

You get little portal tokens to show the entrances to rooms. Fluffwise its because the silver tower is less actual physical rooms and hallways and more a mahical everchanging labyrinth,

What justifies the price tag for Silver Tower? Descent is like 80 bucks (RSP) and has 8 heroes, around 38 monsters and 48 dungeon map tiles, plus cards and tokens and what not.

Not trying to hate or anything, I am a huge fan of good old Heroquest
>>
>>47253295
Because the descent minis are terrible - and thats speaking from someone who really likes the series and owns most of the expansions.
>>
>>47253481
Okay, maybe I am looking at it more from the board gamer perspective.

I really enjoy dungeon crawler games (e.g. Imperial Assault, Arkadia Quest) and don't care as much about the minis involved.
>>
>>47253498
Im a boardgamer too btw. Im sure many many more people think that boardgames are overpriced compared to console games, and many more still who think thats its expensive to mobile games.

Yet we still have all 3 no?
>>

Independant, I'll take that sweet sweet 23% off
>>
>GW Store
>Their thing with the pre-orders is that pre-ordering the base game gets you the art card and a single button
>Spend $200 or more after tax to get the game marker
>Buying any one of the 4 heroes not in the box gets you that holographic card
>Buy all 4 heroes to get the full holographic pack

I guess could be worse, most other stores around me aren't doing pre-order bonuses at all, and the one that is requires you to buy the game, the heroes, a set of the bonus enemies, glue, the two White Dwarf issues, and some other shit to get the pre-order shit. I really should've just went with getting it for ~$30 off.

Besides the stuff mentioned in earlier posts, what shit are your stores doing /tg/?
>>
>>47255900
I used to sell weed to the red shirt at my local GW so i just showed up told him that i preordered online before i realized there were bonus cards and what not so he tossed a pack my way then we started talking about our bloodbowl group
>>
>>47255900
My local store did first 4 preordering after opening got a foil card and button, next 6 to order got the remaining buttons.
>>
The only thing stopping me from preordering is the horrible generic hippy trippy floor tiles that look terrible with painted minis on them
>>
>>47256223
I am fine with that because its themed around Tzeentch so I would expect it to be so.
>>
>>47256356
Is it bad that I hope this does well enough for them to do a Vermintide expansion?
>>
>>47232000
Ok, not a warhamms fan but I gotta ask - are they trying to get new players with boad games like these?

Because who the fuck is going to buy this at 150 DOLLARS other than GW fanbois? I personally wouldn't even if the minis look nice bc chances are I'd play like 5 times before never touching it again.

They should have cut cost a bit and brought it out for 60, 75 Dollars max.
>>
>>47253295
As has been stated, descent figures just don't have as much to them(Though the gameplay is probably better considering GW's track record compared to FFG). That doesn't stop the vast majority of Dungeon Crawlers from being cheaper such as Dungeon Saga and Super Dungeon Explore.

>New players
Unlikely
Fundies will gleefully pay for anything that GW makes. If they wanted it to be accessible they would have pre assembled figures like most board games have.
>>
>>47256559
People buy these because, ridiculous as it sounds, the see it as a discount. It's not a ludicrously expensive boardgame (for boardgame standards), it's actually cheaper than just buying minis from GW.

Seems like wasted potential desu. Pic related. A board game I read about a few month back and was considering getting. It seems like a way better deal for a newcomer even kf the mikniks are lower quality.
>>
>>47249498
>Not sure if there is supposed to be a GM
There is not.

The rules say that whoever is the "marked" character moves and rolls for the monsters each turn. The mark passes to the left each turn.
>>
I just played it at the GW store. It's not Warhammer Quest rules wise no campaign system to speak of. It is fun enough but not for $135 USD The cheapest I've been able to find.

The minis are too complex and easy to break but are very nice to look at and obviously will be desired for Age of Sigmar players.

I really wish a game more closely related to the orginal was coming out. I'd call the Silver Tower inspired by the orginal.
>>
>>47249523
>Thanks anon. Have you played the old Warhammer Quest? How do they compare?

The new game is much more forgiving. So long as one hero survives an encounter all the others come back to life.

The rules are mechanically quite different, mostly due to being based on AoS instead of WHFB.

The way wounds work is interesting. You normally get 4 actions, but each wound you take removes one. So as you get closer to death, you get less actions, and need to rely on the "destiny dice" (similar to the power phase) to actually do anything.

As someone who has been playing the original regularly since it came out, I enjoyed it, and am buying a copy.

I won't replace the original for me, but I think I will definately play it as well.

Bonus heroes confirmed as

>Slaughter priest
>Auric Runemaster
>Knight-Venator
>Tzeentch Sorceror Lord

>No campaign
Are you high, m8?

I want a vampire hero.

>>47255900

Honestly I'd call up GW customer service and get their take on things.

I preordered the game earlier and I got the foil card pack (Which I'm assuming contains the four extra heroes), the Tzeentch counter, and two pins. My local manager is pretty good though.

Even if GW can't or doesn't do anything, those managers don't sound like they have an attitude conducive to sales and that will probably get them thrown out on their ass.

>>47253498

Silver Tower really comes off as an attempt to bridge both worlds, being a game on its own and also being a means of getting into other games or giving the people who play the other games a reason to pick it up.

Of the four board games GW has released now, including Silver Tower, all the models have rules to use them in 40k, Horus Heresy, or AoS.

>>47256559

As I said above, I think they're attempting to. At the very least GW gets a sale out of it, better case scenario is that the person who buys Silver Tower becomes interested enough to buy further expansions and such, best case scenario is that they also get interested in AoS.

>>47256796

The minis being subpar and likely unusable with the Privateer Press's other games is likely why it's so cheap. They seemed to just being going for the board game angle.

>>47257647

They're adding around 30 heroes via the app (For a small fee of course), would be surprised if there isn't at least one vampire since they've mentioned other older models like the Dark Elf Sorceress and Goblin Shaman.
