I found the Emperor's Children

So I've been thinking of giving my Admech forces some sort of shooty deathstar. The idea is a single squad that has enough firepower to wipe out entire units at long ranges in a single shooting phase. So my idea is this
>Magos Prime Myrmidax with two weapons
>10 Myrmidon destructors all with the same weapons
The question is what weapons should I give them? Here were my ideas

>10 destructors with volkite culverins
>myrmidax with 2 photon thrusters (fuck I wish I could take two culverins)
The idea is sheer volume fire. 44 shots wound marines on a 2+, hit on a 2+, and except for the thrusters have deflagrate, preferred enemy means that before taking into account deflagrate you are killing 15 marines in 5+ cover within 48" of you. Against cataphractii terminators you are still slaughtering 8 a turn, and against militia you are liable to kill about 40ish on average after deflagrate, if they aren't in cover the casualties will probably be like 60 (didn't calculate that last one).

Much like the above but sacrificing volume fire for AP, can kill like 11 cataphractii a turn, can kill 16 marines in 5+ cover a turn. As an aside thanks to lance they can also fuck up damaged AV 14 vehicles if they don't have anything else to shoot at. 3.8 HP shot off an AV 14 vehicle a turn.

Put them in a tall building and laugh as you blow up everything that doesn't try to close in on your army with conversion beamers. 11 str 10 blasts will erase entire units with ease

Either way all of these units will cost in the neighborhood of 660-760 before including the Myrmidax so it is hardly competitive and I will only use it at 3000 points and maybe 2500 points.

You could always tone it down to 5 Myrmidon Destructors, which would further mean anti-infantry would be easier than anti-vehicle. Unless you gave them Conversion Beamers. Everything ever dies to S10 AP1. As long as you can get far away enough, that is.

Personally I used 40k terminator storm bolters, cut the muzzle in half and added a melta or a Calth plasma pistol muzzle to the front for combi-plasmas and meltas. Flamers could be done with, say, hand flamer muzzles. Grenade launchers with, say, a grenade launcher muzzle or just sticking a little rocket looking thing (such as an IG mortar) into one of the muzzles as a rifle-grenade style thing.

As for the Land Raider or Vindicator bit, all it takes is two drop pods with melta to at the very least stall both. I would drop the Vindicator to give one Dread a special dreads drop pod. That way it is a turn one threat that 1)they have to respond to 2) is actually tough to kill (they have to blow the pod first). With savings you can bulk out the vets. Will give your land raider time to flat out into their face... right as terminators drop, the OTHER dread is lumbering into range. That's a lot of target overload (results against Tau and Eldar may vary)

It depends on who you're facing. Against real armies, you need to worry about artillery so you can't leave everyone exposed. Guerillas, on the other hand, don't have the ability to fill the air with shrapnel.

In either case, infantry tend to be good against vehicles so you do want some of your own infantry to take them on. They can see and react better. But they're specially designated for that role; you don't just tell all of your mechanized infantry to sit outside and keep an eye out.

Whatever you prefer more. I don't feel like Breachers do all that much, Tacticals are cheaper out of the box. You need something to whack tanks aside from power fists, too.

Generally any respectable Legion force should have the numbers to fill out its minimum required troops with fat blocks of tacticals. That's 40 fleshy bodies as fodder.

If spread out reasonably well just about anything will have to spend a lot of time chewing through them. If you're going with other troops choices, you should get something that goes hand in hand with your legion-specific rules, rites and wargear.

Assault Cannons are fucking cute but you need more ranged anti-tank, or some shit that can get in close to rip his tanks fast. Meltabombs, chainfists, and some flashy shit with special rules for fucking things dead at range. Sicaran Venator comes to mind, but on a budget you could also stick a Laser Destroyer Array on that Vindicator and possibly get some weapon swaps for your Contemptors. Lascannons, Conversion Beamers, or be a cheap Calth fucker and leave your bitch with a plain old multimelta. I would stick your two asscans on one of them, and get something else for the other.

Not saying you have to go 200% one way or the other, just that you need something more than you already have, and can shuffle a couple things around to do so.

There's actually an alternate 30k cityfight FOC that uses infantry to protect vehicles, making them Intercept for them. because, for tax reasons, FW is not an integral part of GW. Instead, its a daughter company, where GW holds 100% of the shares. this allows them to get paid out dividents (which is better taxation wise) deduct their costs (also good) and receive free royalties because GW runs its FW through the Netherlands.

the downside is that while its a daughter firm, its required, by law, to have a management that draws up querterly reports and publish these to the shareholders. Which, usually, come together once every year to discuss the course of the company.

Played my 2nd ever 30k game tonight, my World Eaters against Imperial Fists with Dorn. My Leviathan held Dorn and his Terminator buddies in combat for 3 turns, and my Spartan exploded his Spartan. And his Sicaran Venator. Red Butchers dropped in a pod and ate his Phosphex Rapiers turn 2, and Kharn, Surlak, and 20 of their closest friends ripped apart a tactical squad and a unit of Cataphractii. Dorn got held up in combat by a 10 man bolter tac squad with an Apothecary for 2 more turns. In the end we tied. He couldn't kill a damn thing because of Gahlan Surlak and Crimson Path giving my death blob a 3+++.

It was great.

Prior to the FW books, Calth wasn't a thing - the Ultramarines were simply isolated from the rest of the Imperium and didn't actually get attacked. FW forgot to explain how the Word Bearers (and some World Eaters) got from Istvaan V to Calth so quickly.
