>want 6 int but GM won't let me

That GM thread?
>>
You tried this thread yesterday and it didn't go like you wanted.
>>
>>47176186
>want a good /tg/ but shitposters won't let me

That anon thread?
>>
>>47176186
>Want to play aspergers syndrome so I have an excuse to randomly attack NPCs and do nothing productive all evening

That Guy thread?

Seriously, if you're gonna be a retard, go buy GTA or some other shitty 'open-world' video game made for dicking around.
>>
>>47176197
Okay, so this one time, there was this guy and he posted a bad thread.

I have a feeling of déjà-vu.
Do I have psychical powers /tg/?

>>
>>47176186
Why 6 INT?
>>
>>47176221
But oh man. Remember that OTHER time?
What a time it was.
>>
Honest question here, what does 6 int and 15 wis look like? It means you're too dumb to think your way around problems but thoughtful enough to know who you can trust to figure it out, right? Doesn't that completely negate all the downsides to being unintelligent?
>>
>>47176271
So you're in a forest and you have a map. You can't tell which way is north on that map, nor can you figure out anything about it, but you're capable of finding the nearest water source via animal tracking.
>>
>>47176271
It's like an old man who knows all the ropes but doesn't understand new technology.

You would basically be a retarded feral person.

At 6 int you are Sloth level intelligent. With wisdom 15 you are observant of your surroundings and can survive well on your own (know not to touch fire, wander into the dark cave alone) but you would have a hard time with even spoken language, any kind of problem solving ie unless you have encountered the situation before you are completely stumped and probably cannot process it at all.

You would basically have Downs Syndrome but with 20/10 vision, good hearing, and the ability to find food and shelter in your home environment.
>>
>>47176533
Gump is closer to int 8. The low end of the human average. He is slow but at least understands that he is slow. 6 int is "I need a tard wrangler" level.

We have been seeing this thread allot lately.
>>
>>47176271
So what's the opposite of this question? Wis 6 and int 15?
>>
>>47176727
>Wis 6 and int 15?
Mr. Bean (not Rowan Atkinson, the character)
>>
>>47176271
Particularly stupid Buddhist monk.

He dresses like an asshole and drives a Humvee, but damn if he ain't at peace with Dharma.
>>
>>47176727
So you're in a forest and you have a map. You can interpret that map flawlessly and could devise an exit if you could figure out where you were in the forest. It all looks the same and unless you can find a major landmark you're just as lost as that other dumb guy.
>>
>>47176271
You don't know why 2+2=4, but know it to be true
>>
>>47176727

Your stereotypical absent-minded professor.
>>
>>47176727
You know why 2+2=4, but are unable to use it as analogy to point out the difference in wisdom and intelligence
>>
>>47176363
Isn't that just having knowledge of one subject, animal tracking, but no knowledge of another subject, mapreading? Do either of those things really have anything to do with wisdom or intelligence?
>>
>>47176919
Reading a map employs a number of elements, such as determining orientation, charting routes, and ultimately figuring out where you are.
In hindsight, the tracking bit may not have been the best example. The idea was that wisdom is knowing that you can find a good water source by knowing that animals will frequent that source, which means you'll also be able to easily find food and survive despite being lost.
>>
>poster has a disagreement with his GM but instead of talking to him about it decides to whine to strangers on an anonymous Laotian propane sales forum

That thread thread?
>>
>>47177045
>Knowing
But isn't knowledge more strongly associated with intelligence than with wisdom?
>>
>>47176186
>implying there is no overlap between wisdom and intelligence
>implying completely seperating the two would not destroy either concept
>implying this is not tied into to some sick and twisted downs syndrome magical realm
>>
>>47177967
To be honest, if anything, the split should be Wits (thinking on your feet) and Intellect (slow analysis).
>>
>>47177303
Yes and no.

In DnD knowing flora and fauna of a place you've never been to by reading a book would be int based.

Observing the behaviors of the environment is wisdom.

While shit thread is shit I can feel with OP. Being raised by hippy parents to question and distrust any authority makes playing an obedient, dumb as brick fighter an attractive fantasy for me. And while such a character may seem flat and one dimensional, his/her lack of flexibility and stubborn perseverance can create an interesting dynamic between said character and other, more creative and chaotic in thinking party members. One of my characters was like that and he very much became the backbone of the party. Whenever nobody had a good idea what to do they always fell back to Igor, because even if Igor was a moron he always went through whatever he had in mind, no matter what it took.

That said, I think 6 Int is a bit too tard. That is bordering with smarter animals and that isn't very much.
>>
>>47176271

Literally no memory but good instincts and hunches.

Half the time you're just staring at walls and the other half the time magic rings are taking over your mind. not even powerful magic rings either, like rings of +1 AC. Go around wrapping yourself around people in the middle of battle to protect them from attacks.
>>
>>47176271

rangers can use Handle Animal rolls to make you do stuff.
>>
>>47176186
Similar happened to me
>want to roll a retarded ork
>rolled stats
>lowest number is a 10
>8 is not retarded enough
>lower 8 to 6
>GM says no, he say I have ulterior motives and that I'm going to asking something I exchange
The funny thing is that the it was my first time in that group, and I only wanted to play potato tier bodyguard of the gnome wizard

Question for that: I let my players roll stats and I hoped everyone would have a low stat, that is maybe fun to roleplay. Well, everyone rolled 10+ except one rolling a 8 one time and also the other rolls were well over average. Would it be a shitty move from me as DM to tell them to set one stat to 6 or 8 each?
>>
>>47182139
just do low point buy, this forces them to dump stats or have an incredibly shitty character that does nothing well
>>
>>47182139
Have my retarded logic: If you are rolling 4d6 drop lowest, the average roll for that is something along the lines of 12-13 for a stat. That equals +1 to every stat, for a total of +6. If a character has more than that total, make them lower a stat until they are 'balanced' again. Now that I think about it it's a really shitty idea because you are basically punishing a player for something that is not their fault (having good luck), but hey, you asked.
>>

>Would it be a shitty move from me as DM to tell them to set one stat to 6 or 8 each?
Incredible shitty
>>
>>47182139
You're like the opposite of my last GM
>Hates dump stats
>Only allows elite array
>Complains when people have 8s
>>
>>47176186

what's the lowest int you can have before you are incapable of speaking or understanding any language?
>>
>>47182249
>>47182201
I like the concept of rolling with a bit of a unbalance between the players. And those things would destroy that. Thanks nonetheless for the ideas
>>
>>47182351

because the average DC for most fairly core skill checks is around 25 - to put that in context in D&D, that's a 1/4 chance to succeed (or 3/4, greater than half, chance to fail) for someone with 18 in a relevent attribute and 6 ranks in a relevent skill.

A GM that isn't an asshole and wants their players to be able to do anything other than bumblefuck around but also isn't aware that halving all DC that aren't taken from AC is a thing they can do (or doesn't want to do that work) really won't want you taking on a load of maluses to make things harder for yourselves.
>>
>>47182351
>Only allows elite array (15,14,13,12,10,8)

Welcome to my living hell. He's an alt GM so I only have to deal with his shit every two months or so, but every time he is objectively wrong about some ruling.
>I do 42 nonlethal damage.
That GM: Ok he'll be knocked out when you do double his HP in non-lethal damage.
>That's not how it works.
That GM: Lets talk about it after the session.
>After the Session he packs up and heads out before anyone else.

The worst part is he constantly calls me a powergamer for doing stuff like...42 damage in a charge attack at level 6. Meanwhile a wizard can fireball eight people for 25 damage a piece and he doesn't bat an eye.
>>
>>47183014

Martials being worthless to play is so prevalent that it poisoned an entire generation of players.

It's why people shit on tomb of battle just for giving martials something to do besides smack a dude and take damage.

I had to read that twice.

I play in a homebrew where a 0 score for anything is human average. Adding any points into a given category takes twice as many points as the level prior (1 is 1, 2 is 2, 3 is 4, etc) up to a max of 5 points in category (total 10 character points in category, but given only 6 total to mess with).

It makes for interesting games when your character is smarter than God himself, but otherwise a completely useless bag of meat.
>>
>>47176217
You might have ESPN.
>>
>>47182139
If you wanted them to have a low stat why didn't you just use an array?
>>
>>47182833
You can put your racial mod in the 8 :^)
