Abbadon will destroy anything he gets into melee with. The Terminators suck hard, and you have no way to actually get them to melee.

If you really want CSM, go for a Khorne lord on a juggernaut or a Nurgle lord on a bike, and give them a biker retinue. That might do something, maybe.

but charge moves are 2d6 and you only need to be 2" away from a squadmate who is in CC. This allows farsight to potentially charge enemies that would normally be out of range for his 6" movement.
He may not end up engaged in combat, but at least he's locked

That would somebody with little understanding of Necron lore would post.

The Oldcron codex was a big dumb of in-verse Admech, Inquisitorial, and Imperial navy documents and records. Several inquisitors are mentioned there including Czevak. In contrast, the 5th ED Newcron codex had like one mention of an inquisitor and the 7th ED had none. Thus the 3th ED codex is the most logical source.

Any Necron player would know this. I revoke your Necron fanboy club card and also your 40K player pass. Get out.

So, I've found a guy who sells a box of 12 Necron Warriors and 3 Canoptek Scarabs for 20€ (Bought it for himself at 30€, doesn't have the room for it anymore).
The box is still in plastic.
I'd like to buy me some small army of plastic men/robots, but have no experience in painting and the closest FLG is about an hour away. Is it worth it?

So I was wondering. If the Old Ones made the Orks, could it be possible that Gork and Mork are just some ascended god form of the one/two orkiest of Old Ones that originally created them? That the Orks in their collective WAAAGH! ability so strongly believed their creators to be gods, that they actually became gods?

The orks know who there creators are(Brain boyz or something) Gork and mork are their own creation that popped into existence because the orks worshipped them and not because of their gestalt field, thats just how warp entities/chaos gods are. Though gorkamorka may not be warp entities so maybe it WAS their gestalt field, who knows.
>>
>>47066697
I have a theory on that. Gork and Mork were the first two warbosses in existence, the Old Ones sent them and to fight, mid-way Crons threw the Orks into black holes, and the WAAGGH energy transformed the black holes into "green holes". The lesser Orks were absorbed into Gork and Mork, and the Old Ones fashioned them into new bodies. After the War in Heaven they went into the Warp looking for a good fight.

Yeah I get that much, but is it possible that maybe they so believed in Gork and Mork, that the original creators became those Old Ones, what with the Old Ones having such a powerful connection to the Warp and all; and the rest of the Old Ones that were just there being relegated to the 'brainboyz'?

So I have been getting some help on Reddddddit with my first army and this is the list that I boiled down to (compared to where I started this seems much better). However idk if it is too few models (I know RW is 'elite' so I shouldn't expect a full deployment zone)

HQ:
Techmarine - 110pts
>Bike, Servopack, Power Axe
Interrogator Chaplain - 160pts
>Bike, Mace of Redemption

ELITE:
Ravenwing Command Squad - 295pts
>6 Black Knights, Apothecary, Champion, RW Banner, 1 Grenade Launcher

FAST:
Ravenwing Bike Squad - 115pts
>2 Grav gun, Combi-Grav
Ravenwing Land Speeder - 75pts
>2 Multi-meltas

RAVENWING SUPPORT SQUADRON:
Darkshroud - 80pts
>Heavy Bolter
3 Ravenwing Landspeeders - 165pts
>2 Heavy Bolters on each

1000/1000

I guess the tactic is to group up my HQ, Elite and Formaton and hope the Grav and Melta take care of anything they can't.
Is there anything wrong with this list to start out with?

Okay so %80 of your points are tied up in some giant 2+rerollabe jink Deathstar and the other 20% are hoping to do something.
Ask yourself, does that sound cheesey?
I don't think it is unbeatable by any means, especially if you are playing any maelstrom mission but I think its a gimmick that you will grow tired of.
The core unit is extremely strong and will definitely kill a lot but it won't get much done outside that.

How good is Nurgle to build an army around?

If I have to pick up one other god what would it be?

From my understanding the warp table is the main reason mono god suffers (besides not being optimized) because one back roll can affect your whole army.

Are multiple Start Collecting Nurgles a good way to start an army?

They contain:

A Herald of Nurgle, a set of three Plague Drones, a set of three Nurglings and a set of ten Plaguebearers of Nurgle.

This would be my first army but since Nurgle is "slow" are there any Chaos Space Marine "fast" stuff I could ally in? Preferably under Nurgle's persuasion.

CSM are suppose to be one of the NPC factions your friends armies have heroic, and one sided, victories against. By choosing to play an NPC faction you are selflessly allowing your friends to have fun by crushing your army even though you tried your best. To play CSM or another NPC faction properly, you must become the anti-thatguy

Put them in cover. If you're already doing that, that just means your opponents are smart enough to actually target them.

This unfortunately. Pathfinders are T3 5+sv with no way of improving their cover saves for some fucking reason. Summon in Daemons while the Tau provide fire support.

Use Pulse carbines and photon grenqdes in order to force pinning and blind tests and allow your daemons to charge unimpeded.

Fire Warriors are comparable to humans for the most part, although even they tend to be on the short side for a human. WS2 is generally just untrained in a skill. I figure the I2 is for the poorer eyesight at close range or somesuch.

>>
>>47069848
I may be working off outdated info, so its best you look this up elsewhere to be sure.

The way I remember it, blasts have to target a specific floor, other than that, they work normally.

This means that if you split your pathfinders between the bottom two floors, they'll be safe from barrages (assuming that's still a thing) and only have half their unit getting hit by blasts.

This clearly seems to be a case where his guy were in a ruin, and nothing I can find in Stronghold Asssault, or the Barrage or Template rules indicate that models not on the top of multi-storey ruins don't get hit by Barrages.
>>
>>47069909

Depends on the model. If a model can shoot multiple weapons in shooting phase they can overwatch multiple weapons too.
>>
>>47069909
Unless the unit/model can normally fire more than one, yes.
>>
>>47069909

The exact language is:

An Overwatch attack is resolved like a normal shooting attack (albeit one resolved in the enemy’s Assault phase) and uses all the normal rules for range, line of sight, cover saves and so on.

So it depends on the overwatching unit.

>>
>>47069936
My mistake, it's not Stronghold Assault, it's Cities of Death, and the ITC FAQ. Here's the Specific wording:

> "For ease of tournament play, at this event, if a Blast or Template weapon would hit models on more than one level of a ruin, the player making the attack must choose only one of the levels to hit. Non-Torrent Template weapons can only choose one level of a ruin above/below themselves. Barrage weapons automatically hit the highest level of a ruin that is under the hole in the center of the marker. Note that wounds caused by Blast/Template weapons in this case still follow the usual rules for wound allocation and casualty removal against the entire unit. "

So wounds are still allocated normally, but you choose the floor targetted -after- rolling scatter.
>>
>>47070001

I pasted the EXACT wording. It says it is resolved like a normal shooting attack - i.e. it follows all the rules of a normal shooting attack.

Hey, a man can dream, right? I'm a big fan of swarming of dying horribly, but only after I have covered the enemy in various discharges consisting of blood, pus, sexual fluids, and the pure essence of the warp respectively. Also, I like screaming a lot.

Chaos has it kind of shit right now. Recommend you run the Cultists as your only troops and load up on your other slots. Maybe pick up some daemons to ally with, since they don't completely suck. Helldrake's a good choice if you're facing Marines a lot, but the model isn't to everyone's taste.

>What rule gives you the ability to fire two shots in the assault phase?

What rule gives you the ability to fire ANY shots in the assault phase?

Oh yeah, Overwatch. The same rule that tells you to resolve it as if it were a shooting phase attack, where you would gain multiple weapons. You can't even 'resolve' a shooting attack without picking your weapons to begin with.

Your non-argument doesn't even work as it hinges around the misinterpretation of the word "resolve".

Depends on your style of army

Number one thing:
you will want more cultists. Get them off ebay

Chosen are awesome fun, but not awesome good, especially in the loadout that is in the DV box
Deep striking terminators with combi-weapons are decent
Obliterators are decent.
Bikes are decent
Basic CSM can be useful sometimes, but you have to know what you are doing with them.
Spawn are good
Heldrakes are great
Axe Lords on juggernauts are good
dinobots can be useful sometimes

Everyone knows what comes in DV that is willing to help you probably. DA come strong comparateivly out of the box but that isn't saying much. Don't get the "expansion" boxes. Try and convice the CSM to play KDK or just ally daemons now. DA have the choice of Greenwing (not bikes and terminatrs) with a bit of support from Raven and Death or Majority Raven (or just all Raven) with a bit of Deathwing.
You will want a Black Knight box, a battleforce some scouts and a rhino for the tactical in DV. May need to order another set of DV bikes to put some HQs on them to roll with the command squad.

Eitherway it wont be cheap and shitty monopose models a re a terrible way into the hobby. Especially if they arent armies you really really want to play.

How's that reading comprehension

The "unlike a normal shooting attack is part of the next sentence that basically says "unlike a normal shooting attack the wounds you cause won't cause the charging units to take a leadership check"

First, ignore anyone stating you should buy a helldrake. They are no longer an auto take.

Chaos is difficult to play, they are lagging behind in the rules and updates and will make learning the game a little more difficult.
That being said, if you should do some research on what chaos warband you want, what units you like and how you want to play.
Then, come back an ask.

Please do not copy a list of stuff to buy and run it, you won't enjoy the game that way. You will probably just end up wasting money and time.

WAIT IT DOESN'T SAY
WHEN CAN I SHOOT IT, THE 13th OF AUGUST? AFTER 9PM? IF I'M STANDING ON ONE LEG? IF MY OPPONENT AGREES? THE PSYCHIC PHASE? WHILE FEELING A SLIGHT TWINGE IN MY LEFT ARM? IF I OWN A CAT? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!

>Cultists
>Renegade Imperial Knight
>Allied Daemons

Although it depends what points level you're both aiming at.
Play some games just with the contents of the box to get the hang of things.

If you like Khorne or Nurgle, the Start Collecting! box for the daemons of choice might not be a bad next step.

Thanks for the advice. So, the gist I got out of this: Buy a heldrake, and drown the enemy in cultists. Daemon allies for my fondling/infecting/crushing/outsmarting needs. Would including or counts-as-ing a sorcerer in be a viable choice? With base DV, you really have no access to psychic powers with the as-is chaos army.
>>
>>47070614
sorcerers are a fine choice

I also forgot about renegade knights since they are the new hotness, but if you are just starting out a big kit like that might be better to leave for later
>>
>>47070614
Sorcs are good as long as you don't mark them. The God powers are kind of shit, although Slaanesh's are alright. You'll want to get a bike/mount for the Sorc or Lord, or otherwise bury him in a mound of cultist meatshields so he doesn't get punked. The guy holding his helmet works as a good sorc out of the box.

I don't know why they are vertical rather than horizontal, but there iare two lenses.

I get this strange feeling that you've never actually played this game and never intend to.
Because if you intend to, be prepared to be disappointed.

Why do marines in DOW trailers behave like complete retards? Not even the World Eaters would do stupid shit like that. Or at least if they did, they're fucking win.

Help me out here, I'm painfully new to 40k and only barely understand the rules. Is this guy asking about whether you can only shoot one weapon per model? Or one type of weapon per unit? Are there normally cases where an infantry unit could fire off more than one weapon per model?

I'm not sure what exactly is being debated.
>>
>>47072557
Some models can shoot more that one weapon (best example is those with 2 pistols, check out the gunslinger rule), this guy is arguing that those that can would not be able to do so during overwatch.
