Sup /tg/

Playing a bit of a puzzle game with someone, and they sprung this shit on me. Anyone know what these moonrunes are saying?

There are no other samplings of this that I could find in the vicinity but I suspect it's a substitution cipher.
>>
>>46989915
It's just a pigpen cipher. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pigpen_cipher

>J H H F S M C O L

You'd have to figure out the key to use it.
>>
It looks like a variation on a U.S. civil war era prison code. Draw a tic-tac-toe board and put 2letters in each space, then draw an x and do the same between each line. The character written is the box or space with a dot if it is the second letter. If that fails, try X then tic TAC toe board.

Nice, thanks dude. Will post pics of wizards.

If anyone has anything to add to this feel free, otherwise general cipher/puzzle discussion thread I guess. Should've noted that in the OP.

I'm glad SOMEONE took the Linguist feat.

No seriously anon, that makes complete sense in the context of the game we were playing. You are a gentleman and a scholar, and would be a wizard in a fantasy setting.

I always really like substitution ciphers. hell ciphers in general. I've made fonts out of some of mine, and basically pretended they were languages.

However that said, I have a friend that does full on Constructed Languages for fun.

I always figured /tg/ of all places might be into conlangs or ciphers. you know for worldbuilding purposes.

Less worldbuilding and more in-game stuff for GMs. Like what OP is currently doing. Puzzles, ciphers, riddles... all that stuff is great fodder for GMs to throw at their players, especially if they have an interest in it already.

There've been a few worldbuilding threads here and there but I know what you mean.

I guess I was referring to conlangs for worldbuilding, separate from ciphers for puzzles, since that's like... a given.

Y'all don't mind if I hijack the topic onto conlangs now, do ya? No? Good.

I found this site here: http://www.dialectcreator.com/?nav=create and it seems rather neat in that there's about...300 or so syllables to use to construct a language. Admittedly, the limitations of only being able to use what's been given and not having any sort of "add your own syllable" feature is somewhat disappointing, but the fact that someone took the time to put a site together like that in the first place is a good enough start.

I've also thought that the average player wouldn't give two shits about huge constructed languages, but would rather just deal with simple ciphers (pic related). I've used ciphers in my games before, as I tend to be more of the old-school "here's some paper handouts, have fun" kinda DM. Only once the players found something akin to the Rosetta Stone have I handed out the actual cipher, and then they began to go over some of the old notes, put pieces together, and realize what they may have missed.

Back you guys. The BOOKSHELF was the right answer and I solved 3 more parts but the last one stumped me

(2/3) UP

Not really sure what it means, looked at ceilings and even went in the bathroom (you pee), nope, nada. I think my little scavenger hunt ends a tad early. Thanks for the help guys! Will continue posting wizards.

Forgot to mention, the ones to the left are solved; each riddle/hint leads to the next riddle/hint, and EXIT led to UP, which is the one I'm stumped on.

My bad!

Taking a wild guess here...

"2/3 UP" might mean that you only have 2/3 of the word. Have you tried that?
>>
>>46994094
>>46994200
So I'll explain this whole shebang.

I run 12 hour night shifts and it can get pretty boring. Long story short I went in a room nobody goes in and left a "Hello" on a whiteboard with a date and timestamp every week. On the 4th week I discovered a response; "Hello also". I figured out who left it by handwriting and a bit of a lightbulb moment on who would run that shift. I left another response leaving their name and then decided to be clever and made a scavenger hunt with riddles leading to more riddles and hints, eventually leading to a note that said "YOU WIN".

Well, I visited the workplace today and found the moonrunes with all my hidden riddles and hints in a bundle on the whiteboard. That's when I came here and one of you deciphered it into "BOOKSHELF" which was where the fork hint was. I then went to the kitchen and looked in the silverware drawer, and found another hint; the EXIT riddle. I looked on all the EXIT signs in the building and found the (2/3) UP riddle.

By the way, the 2/3 of the word being UP is a clever guess, but I can't figure out a 3 letter word that starts with UP that would be a location/thing in the building.

Thats a cool!

Anyways, I thought it may not start with UP and suggested CUP, hence the image. Or maybe something related to other floor in the building.

Sorry if I'm messing with the thread OP, I'm just a sucker for riddles and that kind of thing. Loved the wizards, btw.

I have tried the upstairs but one of the "implicit rules of the game was that all the riddles were on the home floor, usually in the room with the whiteboard or an adjacent room.

>>46994715
I actually didn't expect it to go the way it did and I'm super happy it turned into a game.

"CUP" is a VERY nice guess and I'll have to run in tomorrow to check something out, but it has the distinct chance of having been discovered/removed by people not in on the game if that was indeed the solution.

Keep 'em coming, because any guess is better than the blank I'm drawing.

I think I'll post landscapes/locations now.

Did you check all the exit signs, or stop once you found a note? Maybe there's two others
>>
>>46994790
I'd love to see the conclusion of this, thats for sure.

On another wild guess, I might want to take "height" into consideration. It seems to be the theme here:

"now you know how short people feel"

"a place I cannot reach, for reasons I cannot fix" (the sign being above a door, I presume)

Literally UP

Maybe I'm overthinking this, I dont know

Hilariously enough I checked all the wrong exit signs before finally stumbling across the last exit sign which had the note. I could check all of them again but I definitely got my fingers dusty by even checking the tops of all of them. Fantastic idea about there being 3 notes though! Perhaps UP forms a THIRD of a word, and is merely the center part? This might be going somewhere.

>>46995082
Height was definitely a factor in these. The bookshelf one (now you know how short people feel) was at the very bottom shelf, the fork one was at countertop height, and the EXIT one was nearly ceiling height. I'm not sure where UP would go, but there is a definite height theme, good eye!

"COUPON" is a 6 letter word that contains "UP" as the 2nd third of the word, and I definitely know where the suspect coupon might be. I may not have found the other 2 notes but this is definitely a good lead, now that I think of it!

I'm going to bed now but I'll be sure to either update this thread or make a new one tomorrow when I check the cups and the coupon out. Both make sense as answers;
>CUP; UP is 2/3 of the word
>COUPON; UP is the 2nd third of the word

Failing a discovery with those two guesses I will search more upstairs.

Pic semi-related. A bit of the conlang they've worked on.
