>>
>>46852558
That black armour is what I'd go for if I ever get some. Have a vague plan of one day making a night goblin spider riders army, and those orcs could add some much needed infantry muscle. The black armour would go well with night gobbo robes.
>>
>>46852558
I am baffled that GW went with the yellow armor. This scheme is so much better.
>>
>>46852676
It's on purpose, I think. In the stories, the Stormcast and human character comment that the Orruks armour is painted with an "ugly" yellow.
>>
>>46852701
Yeah, okay, but they still want to sell models, I assume. Those yellow models look like shit and utterly failed to make me want to buy them, Maw-Krusha aside. The black and red versions do.

Now that we've seen the scrolls what do we think? Im not sure the brutes compare to blighttkings even though I think theyre supposed to be the same level.
>>
>>46857428
"a shard of his titanic body born to ravage the Mortal Realms"

Considering the High Fantasy theme AoS has, I don't think this is a metaphor.

Also there is more lore about the guy.

>"As Sigmar has unleashed his war against the Chaos Gods and their Everchosen, so the great two-headed orruk god Gorkamorka has sent his emissary to unite the Ironjawz under one banner, the banner of Gordrakk the Fist of Gork, to lead the forces of Destruction on a Waaagh! that will drown the seas and blot out the sun, and leave naught but ruins"

>"It is said Gordrakk appeared when the brutally cunning orruk god Gork smashed his divine fist into the Chaos Dreadholds of Ghur. From the smouldering ruins strode Gordrakk, the biggest, meanest and toughest orruk to walk the Mortal Realms, who quickly earned his appellation ‘the Fist of Gork"
>>
>It’s not just the Ironjaw orruks who pay allegiance to Gordrakk, nor is it just the other, less-monstrous orruk clans. Just as the multifarious legions of Chaos are subservient to Archaon the Everchosen, and the forces of Death are in the thrall of Nagash, so too do all the forces of Destruction flock to Gordrakk’s tattered banner. Where the Ironjaw warclans lead, Destruction follows in their wake, with hordes of eager orruks, ogors and grots desperate to join in the carnage. From the lowliest Moonclan and Spiderfang grots to the mightiest Aleguzzler gargants, all of them want a place in the Fist of Gork’s Great Waaaagh!

>This is the most threatening aspect of Gordrakk, above and beyond simply being the biggest, meanest, toughest orruk on the back of the most vicious Maw-krusha in the Mortal Realms. The myriad forces of Destruction are individually dangerous, as anyone who has had to fight a raging band of Sourbreath Troggoths would attest, but they are hardly a threat to the Mortal Realms. But united under Gordrakk’s meaty fist, these hordes of savage warriors and monsters without counting are driven by a barbaric yet formidable intellect, and together they pose a greater menace to the Mortal Realms than perhaps even the legions of the Everchosen himself.

It's disgusting how much they are sucking off destruction this week.

>>
>>46858361

you could always have a fan made system of point values. sort of like how competitive pokemon has a fan made system which parallels the official system.
>>
>‘Eight weapons in all were forged by the daemon-smiths,’ he continued. ‘Two for each of the four brothers, gifts to them from the eldest and mightiest of their number, and to himself as well. But the gods soon turned their thoughts from friendship and camaraderie, and towards domination. The four brothers were ever aligned only in opposition, and when their foes fled or faded, Khorne’s boundless fury was turned upon his kinsmen.’

Not everyone follows the big guys. They are just the commanders and figureheads of their factions.

Archaon spent a lot of time fighting against Chaos forces that rebelled against him. There are stories of Chaos warlords that refused the call of Archaon. That's why Archaon has the Vanguard go around the realms to enforce his will on the unruly. Also you must remember that the Chaos Gods have bestowed their authority on Archaon. By right, every daemon and mortal are sworn to Archaon. But Chaos being Chaos, not everyone wants to be told what to do.

Going to Nagash. Did you forget that Nagash had to go around Shyish conquering both the living and undead? Not all undead serve him but being the god of death and necromancy means they live under his shadow. How could you forget that Mannfred is currently on the run from Nagash and has no intention of being his chewtoy again.

Gordrakk isn't the absolute leader of destruction yet. He goes around being the crap of other destruction warlords and recruiting them into his growing armies. He has a long way to go.

>Something growled, deep in his mind. He glanced up and then quickly back down. The shapes crouched low over the scrap-camp, leaning on their knuckles, eyes like balls of fire. They were indistinct things, more suggestions of shapes than shapes themselves, but powerful for all of that. He could feel the weight of their gaze whenever it passed over him, and he shuddered deep in his core. They were part of Gordrakk, and were attached to him in ways that Zazul did not fully understand. The orruks could not see them, he thought, but they could feel them. Sometimes, they would become agitated, and begin to brawl with insubstantial ferocity. Other times they vanished for days at a time, only to return when he least expected it.

>Whatever they were, they were unduly interested in the Howling Labyrinth. Often, he would catch sight of one or the other, leaning down as if to whisper with comedic delicacy into Gordrakk’s ear. And when they whispered, Gordrakk listened. That was dangerous.

-----------------------
>Gordrakk closed his eyes as the gods squabbled in his head.

>Gork was winning, or maybe Mork. It changed moment to moment, as did their location. He could almost see them, in his mind’s eye. He could certainly hear them. He had always been able to hear them. That was how he knew he was who he was. He was the Fist of Gork, the dead-hard boss-of-bosses. He was the first-born son of brutality and cunning, and stronger than either. That was what the gods whispered to him, and he saw no reason to doubt them.

More fluff confirming who Gordrakk is. He is the son of Gorkamorka. Their firstborn.
>>
>The orruks had made a temporary scrap-camp in the remains of the one once populated by the Black-Iron King’s warhorde. The Chaos-things made good camps, building palisades and stretching vast canvases between jutting bones to block out the harsh light of the suns above. Now, those tents were being used by his boys. Everywhere he looked, he saw Ironjawz prying armour off the bodies of Chaos worshippers or beating new weapons into shape with their fists. Black orruks watched their larger cousins enviously. They weren’t strong enough to do the same, though they sometimes tried.

Well, look at that. The anon the other day was in fact correct. Ard boyz are in fact black orcs. Ironjaws are a new breed of greenskin that the black orruks admire and wish to please.

Why is Age actively removing all female characters? The only "living" female characters right now are Neferata and Morathi, and Morathi is likely on borrowed time.

Quick question, guys.
I got another box of paladins today for a bunch of planned hero conversions. But that also means I've got another of these double-bladed axe heads usually meant for the Decimator Prime. Should I get rid of the old twin handaxes on my Prime (see pic) and replace it with a more appropriate greataxe, or should I leave it as is?
I've been sitting here for an hour, but I just can't make up my mind.

>Seker shrugged. ‘They are not a talkative folk, by and large. And there are worse voices in the dark than those of pain-addled gargants.’ His voice became soft. ‘I hear another sometimes, echoing up out of some vast, lightless chasm... A voice like a funerary bell, calling his children home.’ He shuddered slightly and shook his head. ‘I first heard him in the Gnarlwood, and have dreaded the sound of his voice ever since.’

Come home, stormcast. Come home and rest by my side where you belong.

>>
>>46862740
painting minaitures is not hard(at least, not at game level)as some people brag about.
It just requires a LOT of time. 6 hours can be hard to find when you work almost all day.
Anyway, most painting can be broke up into simple tecniques and tricks, and requires just a firm hand and a good eye(aka if you are not blind you are ok).
>>
>>46862740

You need patience, which many these days don't have.

Post your mini.
>>
>>46862667
Well, I assume that's the main source for Age of Sigmar inspiration, so, makes sense.
>>
Stupid question maybe, but is the AoS more skirmish-friendly than the old WFB? Essentially, if I buy one of those "start collecting' bundles, will I have a miserable experience and need more regiments, or will i have at least some tactics available? Obviously I don't expect as much depth as 6th edition, but will it be just random brawl withso few units?
>>
>>46862827
They're not finished yet, although I'm currently aiming on an Averland-ish army with primarily black and secondary yellow, bit of green for minor details and eventually a self-made banner for Grenzstadt.

The black and yellow have already been added though, so I don't think it will take that long. Maybe a post in a few days.
>>
>>46862925
Yes
>>
>>46862925
it definetely is.
best way to play skirmishes is with 5-6 warscrolls, 5 models max per unit, base infantry only with limitations based on good sense like: only one monster(small ones like fiends of slaanes or trolls only, limited to one model only), no big kits and heroes only within 6 wounds. Works pretty well because you have units so squishy you need to carefully plan engagments. Works great with battleplans too.
Start collecting are great but they are NOT balanced if fielded against each other(like, seraphon SC is not the same as greenskin or demon of nurgle, because thye have op great kits inside).
>>
>>46862925
>if I buy one of those "start collecting' bundles, will I have a miserable experience

Fyreslayer culture is based around the Slayers of the World-that-was and also the worship of Grimnir that dwarfen/duadrin god of vengeance.

The Fyreslayer and the rest of the daudrin are descendants of the World-That-Was dwarves.

>Fyreslayers were born when Grimnir blew up

No, the Fyreslayers were there as Grimnit's worshippers before he blew up. The whole hunt for the Ur-gold thing started after their god blew up.

The fluff states that their culture is inspired by the old world slayers. Only thing related that might be related to the Chaos dwarfs is the style of one of their character type beards.

Well, Fyreslayers have the Order keyword, so they are not that chaotic. Some of the fluff early on intimated that they would fight for anyone. Maybe that's true, but so far they seem to abhor Chaos as much as anyone else. There is the odd cosmetic homage, but overall the Fyreslayers are their own faction. Descendent perhaps from the previous lore, but they are now something new.

>>
>>46863748
Thing is, Fyreslayers are an actual race of Dwarfs who breed, live, and spread out to settle.

Slayers are Dwarfs from all other parts of Dwarf society who seek only to die. They don't breed, and aren't a race. They have no goal other than suicide by fight to the death and maybe avenge Grudges.
>>
>>46863987
I think that was solidified best in the At The Threshold battleplan, where they have to defend Fyreslayer children and civilians holed up in their lodge from a large Chaos advance

>>46864212
Nothing will ever be as good as 5th and 6th edition, but AoS is really fun. I would suggest doing battleplans and using lots of scenery with the rules for said scenery rather than just running the armies at each other as well :)
>>
>>46857898
As a Blightking-fanboy I'm pretty terrified of Brutes. They have a dangerous Champ and special weapon and the Command Abilities pump their attack counts so far up that they can plow through just about everything, never mind that they get stronger against Ogres and bigger (read: rip Bile Trolls a new asshole)

Compare that to Blightkings who are a tiny bit tougher (higher Bravery and that pseudo-Regen) and have terrifying attacks but outside the Glottkin or Orghotts have no worthwhile Command Ability that increases their killiness.

If you want to start them, get two boxes 'ardboyz so you can field 3 units of 10. Then two squads of Brutes and maybe a unit of cav. Season to taste with Heroes; I'd take a shaman, an airplane coordinator and a flying bulldog. That gets you a big army and enough units to make the Boss' Command ability worthwhile.
The special character isn't really worth it because his Command, though powerful, is one use only.

Question.

The new Orruc Wyvern looks amazing. I was thinking of buying one just for the sake of it. But does anybody know it's size? I could use it as a Squiggoth in 40k if it's big enough.

Also, what about the idea of painting it like this? Thought it'd be a great scheme.
>>
>>46864532
the base is 160mm round

a squiggoth is still bigger I think
>>
>orruk megaboss has a 60mm base
Holy shit. I wonder if the dragon skull is appropriately sized for a stardrake.
>>
>>46864212
30-40 minis is actually the "standard" size game for many. My lgs use even less, counting wounds(wich is stupid and just encourages cheesy lists from people who came from whfb).
>>46864532
then i am not the only one who tought it looked like the fat, retarded brother of the tigrex!(wich is kinda amazing, anyway).
>>46864601
160? shit, since he basically fills the whole base its going to be massive.
>>
>>46864601
Hmmm. Shame. I think it looks pretty cool. The boar warboss(?) looks ace as well. Shaman is meh. Brutes are meh (but good Mega Nobs).

My guess is, every single faction which has disappeared will return with a new look, like the Orcs are.

It seems only Lizardmen and Chaos were left untouched. Shame. I'm still pissed off every faction has a God, bar Lizardmen, and every army has a 'God Unit', you know, a super powerful unit, Lizardmen don't.

Sigmarines have Star Drakes + Celestant Prime.
Skaven have Verminlords + Skreech Verminking
Chaos have Archaon
Daemons have Greater Daemons
Undead have Nagash, Mortarchs plus great units like Archai and Terrorgiests and Zombie Dragons

Lizardmen don't really have anything. Kroak is massively outperformed by Nagash. Slann aren't anything special. Oldblood aren't great (even Dracoliths do D6 damage on a 6, Carnosaurs only do D3 normally, no D6, despite needing a 6).

Hell, even Dread Saurians are raped by shit like Abominations, Greater Daemons, Star Drakes (seriously read their rules, it's insane, especially the comet attack, which isn't magic either) and lots of other crap. It's a real shame.

14HP isn't great. Sure you heal D3, but only if you do damage, lots of other units do it too. The only thing going for it is 3+ 3+ -3 D6 attacks.
>>
>>46864651
Yeah that's what I thought when I saw it. But it's still an ace model. It fits Orcs well. Lithe and graceful things are for faggot Elves.

if you take the one with the perfectly horizzontal head, the fur looks fine.
but if you look at the other two, the fur looks like there is no gravity, its literally hard rock staying still. It doesnt even look like fur, its like it has been cemented. its a mistake so ugly it literally ruins an otherwise good kit. How they tought this was okay?
They made the cad design, than some manager tought the heads needed to be tilted and the guy they payed to modify the cad simply rotated and moved the head without fixing the fur?
thats the only explanation i can think of. And it really, really sad, because otherwise they would look really good, they are fucking wild boars on steroids.

Problem is getting more fluff. Sigmarines are the only one you could do. I suppose Fyreslayers.

It's not hard to write and the art isn't anything to worry about, you seem to think creativity is the thing needed, when it's actually people are lazy.

Also, why are you here when you don't like the thing? I don't like it that much but I've always loved seeing new shit. I find it fanscinating insight into the minds of humans when, despite not liking something, they continue to expose themselves to it and convince other people who do like it, to hate it instead.

Whatever floats your boat anon. Most people here would meme and go "autism", but they are right, sticking around to attack something despite not liking it is a sign of autism. A normal person would leave and never return.

But this is 4chan, can be both sides in one thread.

Oh k, so i got Kroak, Sunblood, one unit of Chameleon skinks, a skink priest, a box of skinks, and the stuff from the start collecting. Im thinking of getting a bastilidon next, would you agree, or should i check out something else?
>>46864740
I agree with you there. I see my Lizardmen army and what is available for them and it seems there is a lack of model(s) that i would consider being TOP tier. At least along the lines of the Celestant, Greaters Daemons, etc. Kroak can hit hard, but with the other Slann being more buff oriented, you dont have that one unit that you put out and think "Hey, maybe this will make the battle more fun" or "Maybe this will even the odds." Something that the Dread Saurian did not make me feel. Maybe i should just get 5 bastilidons flanked by Salamanders with a back up of Ripperdactyls and hope for the best.
>>
>>46873438
>Kroak
You need Saurus Astrolith Bearer.

So I'm thinking of fluffing out my skeleton/sylvan army as undead spirits from a long defeated kingdom. When their kingdom was destroyed, their king used ancient magics to bind them to the land and now they are still defending their long homes which have become over grown and taken by nature. Later the undead king managed to forge peace with nature spirits and are now united as a single force with nature spirits taking over plants and trees, while undead spirits inhabit skeletons or become new nature spirits. As time went on, man made structures started to fuse with local flora, with vines and branches making a bead curtain doors and what not.

When a skeleton is destroyed, it's spirit either goes to another skeleton, becomes a sprite or fairy.

As for metal armor and weapons, they simply loot off their enemies instead of mining/smelting new ones.

When not fighting, skeletons are either planting new trees and flowers, or watching over their lands.

I was also thinking of running lots of things like bats, wolves, and other stuff I'd find in nature.

What do you guys think? Anything I should change?
>>
>>46873955
That sounds like it would work! It makes sense. The spirits become forces of nature. Maybe is a skeleton does enough nature work, natural wood/bark grows around it and it becoems a new dryad?
>>
Other things:

Necromancers who come and try to take magic from the area are often captured and given a choice between becoming one with the forest or being executed. Those who prove loyal are mind melded with a nature spirit who keeps him in check. If he becomes a lich, his phylactery becomes a mighty tree that's tied to the forest.

After battle, the skeletons harvest dead bodies, flesh, food, and what not recycled into ash to be fed to the forest, and the bones being used as new bodies. Due to this, there are no zombies. Ghouls are kept provided they prove their loyalty. Often digging tunnels underground to guard against underground attackers and to get from one place to the other without being seen and quickly.

>>46874094
Thanks. That could work, my original idea was the spirit "ascends", leaves the skeleton and takes over some tree or something.
>>
So does anyone know GW's policy on using non-citadel miniatures if they've discontinued a model they have a warscroll for? eg tomb kings/bretonnia?

Or is it just stiff shit, can't play them?
>>
>>46874330
Potential bait but ill bite.
Tomb kings and Brettonia are supported still with rules so that they can be played in AoS, though they are discontinued.
>>
>>46874385
What I mean is, if you don't have the GW models, you can't play them- right?
>>
>>46874468
In a GW store? No. Literally everywhere else? Yes you can, unless your opponent is an asshole.

>>46874520
>In a GW store? No. Literally everywhere else? Yes you can, unless your opponent is an asshole.

Yeah that's what I mean. Everywhere except GW in my area plays 9th age including myself. Have been looking at giving AoS a go at my local GW store but a few of my key bretonnian models are third party, so I guess I'd have to use a different army :(
>>
>>46871020

>>
>>46874558
My local GW allows third party models as long as there's some form of citadel bits on them. So one guy at my store has a third party bloodthirster, but he switched out the shoulder pads, axe and wings and our rep is fine with it.
>>
>>46869582
>They don't have model ATM, that is why.
I actually did check online afterwards and see that. Makes sense given the whole no media without a model policy they seem to have now.

‘That beast isn’t natural – he’s god-forged, as much as we are. You can smell it on the air.’

-Taros Nine-strike on Gordrakk the Fist of Gork
>>
>‘Who is Archaon?’ he asked, suddenly.

>She looked at him. ‘What?’

>‘Archaon. Who is he?’

>‘Why do you ask?’

>‘When one of us dies, our fate becomes more clear. I see things, hear bits and pieces, rags and tatters of what may come to pass. When Curdak died, I heard a great voice call out a name – Archaon – and I knew... fear? And then, anticipation. Who is he?’

>‘No one,’ Sharizad said, frowning. ‘A fable. A myth.’

>‘You’re lying,’ Sardak said, softly.

>Sharizad caught him by the throat and bore him backwards. He made no sound as she pinned him against the wall. A murmur swept through her warriors, and she felt, rather than saw, Sardak’s brothers move towards her. She ignored them. They were nothing. Lesser fates. ‘He is nothing. He bears a title no one gave him, and makes demands upon his betters. You do not serve Archaon, Sardak-of-the-Nine. You serve me.’

>There was no anger in her voice, and none in her heart. Anger was useless, where the Grand Marshal of Chaos was concerned. Archaon was more myth than man, and more a force of nature than an enemy to be fought. His servants were legion and his aims simple: the complete and utter subjugation of the Mortal Realms in the name of the Ruinous Powers.

>But the Ruinous Powers already had dominion here. It had been theirs for centuries. And what good had it done them? What good was absolute control, without an enemy to test yourself against? Archaon was a raging fire that would devour everything and snuff itself in the process. ‘You... serve... me,’ she hissed.

>Sardak nodded, choking. She released him and stepped back. She turned. ‘You all serve me. Your fates are chained to mine now, as surely as those souls that I hold caged,’ she said, tapping a finger against the facets of her armour. ‘And if you test me I shall bring you to heel as I do them.’

>One by one, they dropped to their knees before her. And Sharizad smiled.

>‘The Hammer God misses his friend. He misses his brother. He misses fighting beside Gorkamorka and wishes to do so again, in the coming war,’ Zephacleas said. ‘He wishes that his warriors, and those of his brother, could march side-by-side, as we do now, to fight the Old Enemy.’

>‘Gorkamorka has been fighting them, hammer-boss,’ Gordrakk rumbled. ‘He’s been fighting them forever. But where is the Hammer God? Why has he not been fighting alongside Gorkamorka?’

>‘The Hammer God thought Gorkamorka didn’t want to fight beside him any more,’ Zephacleas said. ‘The Hammer God thought Gorkamorka had become his enemy.’

>Gordrakk laughed. ‘Yeah? So?’ He snorted and tapped the side of his head. ‘Hammer God never understood Gorkamorka, never saw. Gorkamorka wants to fight forever, but the Hammer God doesn’t. Hammer God wants to build walls and towers and castles... But what’s the point of that if you never knock them over?’ He snorted. ‘Even the Chaos-things don’t understand. They think the point is to kill everyone, but then who’d be there to fight? Nobody understands but Ironjawz, because we’re the smartest and the toughest.’

>Zephacleas stared at the orruk. Despite himself, he was beginning to comprehend how Gordrakk saw the world. For the orruks, there was no difference between an enemy and a friend. A friend was just an enemy you weren’t fighting at the moment, and an enemy was just a friend who was trying to kill you. He cocked his head, considering. Then, he said, ‘So? Why not show us?’

So how early before they are being sold are new models in the GW stores?

I've been looking at the sprues for the new orc models and it looks like you can basically assemble most of them without the armor plates attached.
That might make them somewhat salvageable.

Did anybody get to have a look in person at the models yet?

Like always the stores'll get the new stuff the coming Saturday and it's very unlikely anyone has seen them in person. Even the Blackshirts won't, because they only get major stuff like box sets early.

The painting tutorials can give you some impressions though. There's one on the Monster-Boss and on the Brutes.

As soon as they do come out, I'd like to have a looksee at the Megaboss on Crusha myself, because I wonder how much work it'd be to convert the Ork to a Nurgle general. The legs do seem like an okay fit and the arms are passable too, but the hunchback could be a problem...

Exalted Deathbringer is $28
Knight-Heraldor is $25
Stormcast upgrade packs are $12

GW stores (in the UK at least) typically get a delivery once a week on Wednesday or Thursday. They can't put the new stuff on the shelves at that point, they have to wait for Saturday to do that, so most people won't be able to get their hands on them. But, some of the keener managers may get building and painting early if it's a release that interests/excites them so a few photos may creep out.

Much as I like the idea of a Bretonnia relaunch, it doesn't seem likely given that the thing that defined them as a faction is gone. The Lady was actually an elven goddess (Lileath) who is now dead. Also, all the Bretonnians died, including those sent with Araloth into the hidden world since it was supposedly found by Chaos and destroyed.

On a side note, a lot of Bretonnians did become Vampires though, so it would be cool to see someone do an an undead Bretonnians army.

When people adopted point...well, we had south coast tournament.
>>
>>46878160

That was the intention, bute Duke Jerrod inadvertently revealed its existence to Bel'akor and later Lileath suddenly became unable to feel its presence, indicating that it was most likely found and destroyed by Chaos.

But I would also like for it to have survived. They were supposed to have created the new human and elven pantheons there.
>>
I'd love it if that patch of earth that Gilles & Abhorash, two of the most badass characters in the fluff somehow survived with their ditingent and bretonnia lives through that.

It's hugely popular at my large UK based club, 40k has gone from the most popular game to one of the least. AoS in not played at all, we had a huge fantasy following here but now it's just a few die hards playing occasionally.

Most of the X-Wing players aren't huge star wars fans, they like the setting but don't love it. The mechanics are the main reason for players moving to X-Wing at my club and that's the case to whomever I've spoken to outside of my club

The only gripe I hear is people missing modelling and painting

Actually possible. Several sources mention Sigmarines that were somehow tainted. And I for one would welcome some horn-sprouting Sigmarines with screaming faces on their shiny armor.

I enjoy AoS a lot but boy would I love points or some kind of balancing in regards of all the bullshit that is going on.

That being said GW managed to disappoint me with almost all of their actions in the last couple of years. Some rumor sips through, it sounds nice and exciting and in the end it turns out to be a total disappointment.

That's why I firmly believe it won't be points but something really dumb.

I sincerely hope that when you were playing RAW you were measuring percisely the movement of each model. No, your dragon it not allowed to turn seeing that the tip of his wing along would move for 6"!

I am kinda flabberghasted that so many people in this thread play it RAW. For me the game isn't playable in that state and most of my opponents agree seeing we always discuss a few quick houserules at the start of the match.
