Is this the right board to talk about Mahjong?
>>46740555
Yes but nobody will respond.
/jp/ has mahjong threads as far as i know
>>46741509
Why not? Does /tg/ hate Mahjong?

Less that and more mahjong doesn't really have anything for people to complain about.

Errr, Anon... Mahjong is a mess of a game with terrible mechanics. It is beaten in every way by Rummy and Rumikub.
Examples of what Mahjong does wrong that he other two don't:
-Must have 4 people.
-Convoluted system on what beats what.
-Unnecessary special tiles like winds and dragons and extra dumb rules when playing traditional people that have supersitious beliefs about them.

There's always arguing over Hong Kong or Riichi. And then laughing at that idiot who tries to defend American Mahjong.

I really wish I knew enough about mahjong to make a sarcastic response to this, but I am but a lowly pleb.

>Convoluted system on what beats what.
You've never played a game of mahjong in your life, have you? Winning beats losing and that's it. The only question is how many points you get for winning the hand.
Not as fun as pai gow desu

Mahjong is actually pretty simple, it's just a game of runs and matches. In that sense, it's basically just Poker with a different style of deck.
No, where Mahjong gets insane is the scoring system, because there's a million fucking rules involved with it, and those rules tend to vary by region. This is what creates the mess.
I know a good way to stir up some shit - arguing about Kuitan. So, open Tanyao or closed Tanyao, /tg/?

Open tanyao unless everyone is at least nidan
