Honourable mention goes to the newest addition to the party, a cat-person samurai wizard with heterochromia, the ability to make his weapon charged with elemental energy at will, a literal teleport-behind-you-and-stab-you move (also at will), and a katana that is so long that it wouldn't be physically possible to draw it from its sheathe without laying it down on the floor. Oh, and his entire personality seems to revolve around defending the honour of his noble house and being as edgy as humanly possible.

That's a possibility.. though from the first few episodes I watched of mirror-shades, her shadowrun character is actually pretty similar - edgy, vain, clad in black leather and extremely overconfident in their sex appeal.

Granted, the latter is nowhere near as bad as the former. Nightsass is cringeworthy, but nowhere near as bad as Freki.

She was also in Balance Of Power which I think you should watch as it's pretty good. It's two groups playing in the Star Wars universe at the same time, pretty interesting concept.

I watched all of Roll20: Oldschool Adventures. It was pretty great, though not as representative of how most people OSR as I'd like. I'm also watching their BW campaign, which is pretty great insofar as I've watched it. Haven't watched anything else on that channel.

I'm 99% sure she's doing it on purpose and gets a kick out of weirding chat out. Just like Steven loves to weird people out with his H. R. Giger-y gross sexual horror monsters. Adam is a great GM in the sense of being good at storytelling, but he really rarely actually uses game mechanics in his games which mostly tend to revolve around character development and narrative. I much prefer Steven's approach where mechanics are the thing that bring forth the story for the players. To Adam, it is more important to have a badass lesbian member of some ethnic minority in his campaign, for Steven it is more important to mechanize his game in a way which lets the rolls of the players weave a narrative.

As for Kaitlyn - she does make obnoxious characters, but they are fun and bring an element of chaos to the table which draws GMs out of their comfort zones, forcing them to improvise.

Fucking egregious or plain lazy? I've encountered scores of both in my time spent in Forum RP.

Probably the worst in either case were a psionic purple dragon with a shitload of magical enchantments that prevented them from being harmed in any way. Pretty much every player called this out, but the person providing the character repeatedly replied along the lines of, "No you guys, he's not overpowered, he totally has weaknesses you just have to figure them out :^)"

Laziest character was "Ing," a character so flat and uninteresting that I could only describe him as 0-dimensional. It was a multiverse RP, populated by such characters as Dio Brando and Godzilla. "Ing" was an Imperial Guardsman with no backstory or personality to speak of. The icing on the cake was that his character art was pic related, presented in complete seriousness.

Dude loves mechanics, and basically wants to do everything with mechanics. Mechanics facilitate story, and if there aren't mechanics for what he wants to do, he tries to make some up.

As for his inclusiveness of the kinds of characters he puts in his campaigns, I can't really say. I've only watched Swan Song and some Mirrorshades, both of which aren't very restrictive when it comes to ethnicities or orientations.

Players (and the GM) just got burnt out on it and Rollplay in general had into something too big for certain people to be comfortable with, or something they felt they could live up to.

So they stopped making new episodes. The group was just not having fun anymore.

the original rollplay started as an open-ended thing (mostly because JP's character smashed the GM's plot device in the second episode) that eventually evolved into an arc about stopping an evil priest who was resurrecting and using dragons to take over the world. the rules are modified (mostly simplified) 2nd edition, and the players are completely new to rollplaying.

rollplay: solum (part 1) is set like forty years after the first campaign or something, where the evil priest has taken over like half the world; the good gods bless a baby to destroy the evil priest and the party has to protect it. uses the standard 2nd edition rules for the most part. mostly notable for the GM constantly setting up tough (but fair) encounters and the party bumbling through them head-on and coming out okay through sheer luck.

rollplay: solum (part 1.5) is when the baby gets handed off to the good kingdom and the party goes off to do other stuff to stop the armies/generals of the evil priest, who has died of natural causes by this point.

rollplay: solum (part 2) is set like 300 years before the original campaign, and didn't have an overall plot before it was cancelled.

So imagine any setting where mystery is pretty much the crux of it, where you might externally know things but the fun exists in having characters discover things; Fallen London, CoC, etc.

Now imagine someone whose entire gimmick is straight-up "I know all the lore. I know what's rumor and half-truth and can separate it from the CORRECT lore, which I know entirely and by heart."

It's the most annoying fucking thing in the world to encounter and a real bitch to deal with.

I had a player play a pony named twilight sparkleshy in a game I ran.
I thought it was hardcore red light but decided it might shake things up a bit. We were playing Anomalous Subsurface Environment and the pony actually added a bit of fun to things. The whole party were a bunch of murderhoboes, a human fighter, mutant thief, human magic user and fairy magic user. In the dungeon, the pony kept trying to be friend these horrific monsters and win encounters through the power of friendship. It made for some pretty fun roleplay.

Although despite all the min maxing going on, no one helped me actually make my first character. I picked ranger because TWO SWORDS, but no one thought to tell me using charisma as a dump stat was a bad idea. Too caught up in themselves to care I guess. They we're all way older than me too. I was like 16, and they were all like 25, excluding second player. She was like 18.

I spent 8 months with that group every week in a tiny trailer in a trailer park, with no AC, in Southern California. Even worse was it was the DM's dad's place, and like 7 people were living there, and shouting at each other constantly. DM never showered either, and was pushing 250lbs.

It was a dark part of my life.
