We all know that spoiler isn't going to happen. This has a much bigger chance of being true though:

She's probably gonna be Leia's daughter, thus the connection between the lightsaber, and why she was able to read Kylo's mind so easily. Leia probably got freaky with some nobody to forget about Han leaving her, ended up pregnant and dumped Rey on her dad to not cause a political scandal that would unravel the fragile New Republic. Rey's dad was probably a prospector on Jakku and died out in the dunes away from her. That's why she wants to go back. Because she thinks her dad is still alive on Jakku and looking for her

I honestly have no idea how force powers work in the FFG games. I have the F&D pdf open infront of me and it's waffling about making a force power check using a number of die, but nowhere does it seem to say what this pool is based off? It seems logical to assume it'd be the PCs force rating, but you can apparently add that many die to the pool so it isn't that. What am I missing?

So a bunch of idiots at moviepilot or whatever are plugging this theory Snoke is Darth Plagueis. And he created Rey in the same way he created Anakin, effectively making Rey Anakin's half sister and an honorary Skywalker. Which is why Anakin's lightsaber called to her.

These same people also believe Ben is a double agent trying to destroy the Order from the inside and never killed the other Jedi trainees. Apparently, that was on Luke, who got "too powerful" and accidentally had a Force Fart or some shit which is what actually killed his students.

Needless to say, I do not like any of these theories.
>>
>>46526318
You roll Force Dice equal to the PCs Force Rating which gives you a certain number of points to use on Powers.

It's very suboptimal and inefficient. I was thinking of making some house rules for it.
>>
>>46526337
I can accept the First one, barely.

That second one is stupid to the extreme.
>>
>>46526375
thank you so much. It says the player rolls a die pool that usually is just force die, but doesn't tell you how you get to that conclusion, unless it's a combined force check. raaaaaaa
>>
>>46526402

>thinking anything involving Plagueis is even close to acceptable.

A lot of the stuff in the Prequels is bad, but Anakin's existence being the result of an alien necromancer impregnating a rando with magic is one of the dumbest things George pulled.

The only way the Plagueis stuff isn't bad is if you just pretend Sheev is talking out his ass to get Anakin's attention.
>>
>>46525996
WHERE WERE THE FUCKING BOTHANS?
>>
>>46526495

Um, the Bothans were involved in the SECOND Death Star act, not the first.
>>
>>46526337
>Which is why Anakin's lightsaber called to her.
Wouldn't the simpler explanation be that Rey is the daughter of Luke and *name to be determined*? and that Luke left her on Jakku to keep her safe from a rampaging Kylo & Snoke? (since that actually worked for Luke)
>>
>>46526410
Yeah, it's weird.

Here's a House rule though:

When using a Force Power, can choose to get Force Points up to their Force Rating but take an equivalent amount of Strain or just roll Force Dice Equal to their Rating to get Points.

Alternatively, they get Force Points Equal to their Rating and can spend those points to roll a Force die to get more Points. They can only do this as many times as they have Force Rating and have to pay Strain each time.

The latter rule seems like a dark side thing more, a gamble as it were.

Just checking I understand the force rules however:
players roll die pool equal to their force rating (unless the power they're activating is a skill test one like enhance), any light die give them a point, dark give nothing unless they're a dark side user.
Players can then spend these points on their unlocked powers and power upgrades, with 1 light side point activating the base power and any further points on unlocked upgrades such as strength and magnitude.
The half-moon symbol represents a single force die result, but not necessarily the amount of points generated by the result.

Is that right? It's very jarring compared to the relative simplicity and ease of the rest of the system.
>>
>>46526595

How hard can that be?

My preferred explanation for the lightsaber is it didn't have anything to do with Rey's parentage at all. We already know places and things can have a presence in the Force. Maybe by this point, the Skywalker lightsaber has been in the center of so much pain, conflict, and change it has more than a sizable footprint. I guess it's kind of like the cave in Empire, but on a smaller scale.

So the lightsaber and what Rey brought with her (pain at being left behind) meshed well, and that vision she had was her version of what Luke saw on Dagobah.
>>
>>46526851
sounds reasonable (for Star Wars at least) I probably won't adopt that theory but will respect it.

Still, I have one lingering question, How did Maz get that thing in the first place?
>>

>Still, I have one lingering question, How did Maz get that thing in the first place?

I actually don't think Maz uncovered it from Cloud City or even got it from someone who did.

Why? Because Ben recognized it.

Now, unless Uncle Luke had a bunch of Polaroids of grandpa using it or he actually took time to explain what it looked like in great detail, Ben would have no idea it was Anakin's. That leads me to believe Luke himself actually recovered it and gave it to Ben, explaining it was Anakin's.

Now I don't know how Ben lost it. I don't think he threw it away because was earnestly interested in taking it from Finn.

>>46527098

Eh, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. At the end of the day, it's still just a lightsaber. It's not like it does more damage or is stronger than any other lightsaber. *Maybe* they'd try to take it away because then Ben would have no lightsaber at all, but that seems like a lot of effort for something which would basically just inconvenience him.

One thing I realized though is maybe Ben recognized it through the Force. Like, even though he'd never seen it before, he just knew it was used by grandpa.

Of course, that wouldn't explain why Luke didn't recognize it when Obi-wan first gave it to him. But remember Luke didn't know about the Force then. Ben does. And so does Rey.
>>

I ran the first session last week. The players were intercepted after successfully procuring a stash of ancient stone tablets containing jedi lore. The Inquisitor and 4 storm troopers boarded the ship, I'd intended it to be a bit of a dramatic entrance to announce that this was the big bad guy. It ended with one of the players having a broken leg, a dead storm trooper, an ewok being set on fire in the vents and the players blowing the airlock of their ship and making a jump to hyperspace.

So I guess Team rocket sorta? The Inquisitor will be picked up from hard vacuum and restored to a somewhat workable state, perhaps as you said this is a good time to introduce her agents instead of her.

Of Course, this wouldn't be the last they saw of him as the heavy decided to claim he was a Jedi master to the Inquisitor (he has no force powers whatsoever).

even planned it so that they would have a show-down with the Darktrooper on Taloraan but the group fell apart just before

Take a page from Vader's book in Rebels--just because your players run into the BBEG doesn't mean she's going to try and erase them on the spot.

Have her toy with them, wound them, and chase them to gauge their limits. Have her do it because she finds it entertaining. Have her do it because she has some other objective to fulfill and allowing the players to escape does that.

Update on MIND QUAD

I ran it last night in a 3 way game and it was really impressive. Despite being caught in the middle and taking modest fire for a few rounds, I only lost Kaa'to and had a lot of fun. My opponents were genuinely impressed with how effectively I could TL+F with most of my ships. However, I believe there are tweaks to be made.

>>
>>46530310
No, that's not how it works, not in real life anyway.
How do I know this?
because of a simple bit of natural conditioning found in humans, namely, we are pre-programed not to find people we grew up with (i.e. lived with since prepubescence) sexually attractive. It's why, for normal people, they don't see their relatives that way and don't have anything resembling those kinds of feelings for them. Or in simpler terms why you don't think your sister is hot even if everyone else keeps suggesting the contrary. Think of it as a biological fail-safe to ensure genetic diversity. For incest to occur, someone in the relationship has to be so emotionally fucked-up that those biological fail-safes no longer work. Which, for the rest of us, makes this whole display seem as equally disconcerting as it is unnatural; because it is all those things.

2. They aren't really acting right. The "Main" one is the only one really attacking the heroes. Only the far right one also fires shots and it doesn't even come close.

3. The heroes don't really look like they're reacting to getting shot at by the AT-AT's. They're running like they're being shot by a bunch of smaller lasers, not a few big ones.

let's just make a blanket statement of "ANY work that romanticizes incest needs to fucking stop!"

>>
>>46531487

That's exactly why it's so romantic. If it was normal, it wouldn't be special, and there wouldn't be societal pressure to keep the people apart.

Prince marrying a commoner woman is like the textbook example of what's romantic. The prince didn't care about what the kig thought, he loved her so much that none of it mattered.

So instead of a prince and a commoner we have siblings, and instead of a king we have the society and biology.

You know, one of the old Charms of Yoda was that he was this annoying little troll so you'd never peg him as a jedi master. I am sad that in the prequels they over-emphasized his "wise jedi master" traits and completely dropped his "annoying and muppet-like" quirks.

Question I was pondering today after playing Rogue Squadron-how the FUCK did the rebellion manage to inflict such massive damage on the Imperial fleet during the Battle of Endor? From everything we saw in the movie, they had a laughably small number of capital ships(two of which were destroyed by the Death Star) and their fighters were getting destroyed before they closed in with the star destroyers. But not only did they manage to outright destroy several ISDs, the puny rebel fleet managed to weaken the Executor's shields enough to make the bridge generators vulnerable to fighters!

I know Sheev's battle meditation got cut out after his death, but how the fuck did the fleet even survive before that happened?
>>
>>46533966
Couple things. One, a lot of the GR-75s you saw at Endor were basically kamikazes loaded full of high explosives and run straight into Star Destroyers. The other is that, though they lost a lot of them, the Rebellion's fighters are still really good at taking down cap ships, especially Y and B-wings. Proton torpedoes are downright devastating in the right place.

B-Wings are a hell of a drug. A shame they were too thin and complicated to bluescreen properly

Also, I was always under the impression that the Rebel Fleet wasn't puny, it just took a long ass time to pool resources from Yavin to Endor and come up with a plan.
>>
>>46533966

I imagine that the rebels were bringing in ships from all over, and they probably didn't get their arrival times properly synched up. Reinforcements kept coming throughout the battle. Combine that with a too-tight formation of imperial ships trying to dodge city-sized debris from a blowed-up death star and you get a recipe for collisions and panic.
>>
>>46534092
>>46534061
Oh yeah, I've heard about the fire ship transports. I remember there was one of those in Rogue Squadron III during the level where you take out the prototype SSD. Come to think of it, that level was like, exactly like the Endor plan.

Also, in the film there really aren't many ships, and it seems inconsistent. We see two Mon Calamari ships warp in from hyperspace, two get blown up(apparently there was an offscreen third cruiser), and then they go in to fight the star destroyers.
>>
>>46534166
I was thinking that too actually. Like rebel squadrons warping in after the core alliance fleet, seeing everything went to shit, and joining the action anyway. It would make sense that they'd stagger their arrival, and that some elements would be late.
>>
>>46534168
I'd chalk up the inconsistencies in fleet size up to the complexity of the miniatures effects. Yavin was fairly small scale and Hoth was even smaller (though with stop motion walkers). Compared to them, Endor had a hell of a lot more going on, relatively speaking.
>>
>>46531707
What about step-siblings who did not grow up together?
>>
>>46533966
Eventually the imps just bailed. The flagship was gone, the Death Star was gone, their command system was fucked as a result.

The rebels were getting their shit kicked in.

Watch admiral Ackbar closely after the executor, and how he was like "nigga wat" when Lando suggested moving closer.

The imps lost because they panicked and bailed.

When in doubt, fall back and regroup.

The Rebel Fleet wasn't that small.
In Jedi, when Han and Leia were breaking into the shield control center, there's this screen there showing the Rebel fleet on its way. Each of those little blips is a ship.
Granted, a much smaller and weaker ship than the Star Destroyers, but the Rebs also had more fighters that could penetrate capital ship shields.

Of course, the Imperial fleet was nothing to scoff at. I count 34 Star Destroyers in this shot, not including the Executor.
>>
>>46534626
Da fuck? Star Wars is THE fucking franchise to do huge space battles with.
The prequels were a failure for many reasons, but the huge space battle at the beginning of Episode III was not one of them. At least not the fact that it was a large space battle.
Also, Ender's Game failed because it was a mediocre movie that was afraid to even use the term "Buggers" and overall, a piss-poor adaptation of the book.
>>
>>46534992
One thing that occurs to me is that the fleet was nothing but ISDs, with no smaller escort craft that might have more point defense weapons, which probably let fighters do more damage.

The trouble with them is that they are challenging for animators. Despite having physically humanoid shape, they move in ways that are fucking bonkers to animate convincingly. And there's nothing that really moves like them in nature to be used as a reference. You could make a human fake it, or maybe study how legless beggers push themselves on a dolly or skateboard, but that's about as much reference as you get.

I'd love to fucking see one wielding a lightsaber. It's got the potential to be gorgeous and unique, but I don't think most animators can even comprehend how to make one move without resorting to shit-lame Yoda flips or switching to a more conventional "upper/locomotive limb" grip. That's why the Rebels show just had them using lame-ass single-motion spear jabs and ground stabs.

I call bullshit. In the OT, TIEs required multiple hits to kill Rebel craft while at Yavin, Wedge and Luke both splashed TIEs with one or two individual laser bolts.

Torps, astromechs, more guns per capita, and smart flying. If you're turn-fighting a TIE without an A-wing, you don't deserve your wings.

It isn't a ship built around one purpose, it's a glorified torpedo boat.

If you striped all of it's countermeasures, reduced it's crew to about one to two pilots, put all of that extra energy and space saved into promoting it's primary weapon system. Then making it a dedicated ground support aircraft.
Then you have BRRRT.

>Torps, astromechs, more guns per capita, and smart flying.

These aren't atmospheric craft, things that provide advantages against turn fighters: like climb speed, stall speed and operational ceilings don't exist. So energy fighting doesn't exist and flight speed is the absolute measure of whether you get the drop on your opponent or not.

Astromechs and turrets exist because targeting systems in things like missile systems and torps are worthless thanks to ECM (which is why they dogfight in the first place).
You can also ask any WW2 pilot how well their tail gunners worked to stave off enemy fighter craft. It's less of a deterrence and more of a psychological comfort the 18 men aboard have that it's not completely chance they burn to death in a fiery wreck.

> In the OT, TIEs required multiple hits to kill Rebel craft while at Yavin

I don't remember that at all, I remember 3 fighters tearing through a whole battle group because they can't break formation and still make it to the target. One to two volleys and they go up just as readily as soon as they're hit.

>targeting systems in things like missile systems and torps are worthless thanks to ECM
BVR is worthless. WVR ordnance targeting works just fine, as we see numerous times in the flight sims and novels. Astromechs are more than cute missile guidance systems, too. They provide repairs, computer assistance, math calculations, astrogation, flight assistance, and datalinks, as well as an extra pair of optics. They bring plenty of utility to a fight.

The flight sims and novels also show lots of TIEs going down to torps and missiles. No matter how good your ECM is, if a squadron of Rebel fighters lets off an alpha strike, some of your guys will go down. Xs, Ys, and Bs also carry more guns per capita than the TIE/LN. Rebel craft also have the minor advantage of superior cockpit and canopy design. With some smart maneuvering and baiting, Rebel craft are perfectly capable of standing up to TIEs.

>multiple hits
Vader held down the trigger. You can clearly see multiple twin-linked shots hitting the trench runners before they go down. TIEs still have a stupidly fast rate of fire, but their individual lasers aren't explicitly more powerful than the Rebels'.

>tail gunners
How many of those guys had computer assistance, an astromech, and unlimited ammo?

There's most likely a lot of HUD stuff going on that we don't see, yeah. X-Wing/TIE Fighter/XWA threw in HUD elements like two sensor screens that covered your twelve and your six, for instance.

Still, I don't think any amount of HUD could save the TIE Predator. No fucking clue how anybody thought the stunner shades viewport was a good idea.
>>
>>46536639
When it comes to shit like that I personally prefer to interpret it in a sort of Gundam-esque "there are screens on your front, left, above, right, and rear that give you a pretty good view."

Combine that with the HUD things that surely must be there, and I imagine it's a decent enough way of protecting while giving view. I mean, not having a propery canopy means that if your shit gets ionized, you're pretty much blind unless your HUD is still fine and your cams didn't get hit.
>>
>>46536700
not having a proper canopy, rather. Fucking hell, it's late.
>>
>>46536580
All ordinance in Star Wars is fire by sight, most "guided" systems are just precision fired and calculated via targeting computer.

To say that you can't get hit by them is retarded, however they have very minimal use against smaller, faster targets like fighters. Anything that can change trajectory very quickly is like treading a needle, 100 m away, with a nail gun.

And, yes astromechs are great... they take a load off of the pilot but aren't much different than a crewmate or co pilot to divide workload.
On board repairs are great too but, again, I don't see them coming up all that often because damage should probably either be too severe for them to assist or too trivial to matter 99% of the time.
>>

>very minimal use against smaller, faster targets like fighters
Except that's proven wrong by the novels and flight sims. Concussion missiles work just fine against TIEs, as do torpedoes. Hell, the Redemption Run is even rendered trivial by knowing which TIEs to torp and when. In Chapter 9 of Wraith Squadron, five of the Wraiths fire torpedoes at an incoming formation of Interceptors and splash four of them with that volley. Torpedoes are also responsible for a fuckton of starfighter kills in the Rogue Squadron books and comics. And before you underestimate the maneuverability of torpedoes, look back at Yavin. It wasn't just Luke's Force hax. Red Leader's shot was a very near miss. The Rogue Squadron games' guided missiles basically guaranteed kills, too.

>astromechs
Again, play the flight sims. Astromechs are a godsend. In longer missions, it's a big help since most of your deaths and score resets will be caused by a buildup of damaged subsystems (broken shield readout, broken eject system, broken power readout, etc.). An astromech can often get those back in working condition in seconds. Astromech datalinks are also great for setting up torpedo shots from wingmen.
>>
>>46537156
Strong shame some of the games don't do a good job of reflecting that. I've learned that, with little exception, you're better off treating some of the torps and concs like Vietnam-era missiles. Unreliable at best, only saved for punching the hard targets. Doesn't help that in the system my group uses, d6, they're effectively a third the range of blasters for locking and firing on ANY target unless your GM is willing to houserule with you.
>>
>>46536177

Their dials a knife-fighting dial, and their aces are really good, but expensive and fragile (low agility). But goddamned if they can't deliver a fuckton of firepower or ordnance or both. Plus Keyan with Advanced Sensors and Stay on Target is 33pts of tight-turning murder.
>>
>>46537228
Synergy.
Keep B-Wings protected by X-Wings for that valuable Escort buff.
Also, Y-Wings are generally considered better armored than B-Wings, the B's just have tougher shields. Yes, this is hard to show on a larger scale like Armada than it is in X-Wing(the game).
But if you use them right, they can punish the largest enemy ships.
>>
>>46537228
>B-Wings sucking so bad in Armada are PRECISELY why I don't play it. It's cute and all, giving them a little bit extra punch vs capitals... But jeezus if they're that fucking slow, have less hits than Y squadrons, and can't fight their way out of a paper-bag, then fuck the whole goddamned system.

I dunno. They might not be tourney-level-competetive (as in, I have no idea), but they're functional enough. The extra die against both squadrons and ships feels like a fair tradeoff against the Y's extra hit point and movement.

I wish there was a high-quality model I could buy that I didn't have to assemble and fuck up myself

the new-ish Bandai kit is pretty damn good for being just like 20-25 bucks. Bandai kits are nearly foolproof and don't need any glue, and this pic is it with absolutely no painting, just stickers and some light panel-lining with a gundam marker.

Of course, it would look better with some weathering but its up to you if you want to attempt that. It isn't as hard as it seems, and there is a lot of nice documentation on model painting online.

More to the point, I specified stealthy A-Wings. External munitions are a no-no.

Huh. I always imagined the B-Wing would be built with extra repulsors along all three wings to give it extra maneuverability and thus an edge against point defenses.

This is what I get for giving my waifu headcanon abilities, I suppose.

When she was introduced I described 'it' as wearing black polished armour and a smooth, bowl like helm that was utterly opaque. And a big black billowly cape that the PCs set on fire. But there is some damn fine inspiration now that I have time to plan and consider what I'm doing, ta anon.
