in the meantime, how hard should I run this civ?
>>
>>46509208

Hardcore ones are fun. It'd be ironic if we mammoth folk were in the stone age.
>>
Your people arived by boats, at first there were dozens of you. Fleeing the ravaged land of your home. The flames lit the night sky for days after you fled, proud monuments lost in the sudden violent upheval.
Now you find yourself on an unfamilular grey shore. The ground here is hard, unforgiving stone. Mountains stand before you to the west, towering in their stand against the crashing waves and gusting wind.
Looking around your people are far fewer than when you left, only 2 ships made the long journey. Only one is still whole and intact, the other's sail is shorn and ripped. Its mast cracked and poorly held in place.

While the sun is weakly struggling to break through the clouds and the wind whips the smooth stone shore you gather your people and march north. Thunder cracks overhead and soon the ground is slick with warm rain, your people gather what they can and drink. Still hunger pangs your people, leaving many weak. The rain continues for hours until finally the sun burns away the clouds. In the new light one of your people spots a split in the mountains further to the north. At its mouth a shallow stream runs forth.

A small cave near the stream offers refuge for some of your people but your large size makes it impossible to shelter any more than 4.

A few of the tribe are sent out in search for food. While they lack any tools to hunt with they know they can rely on their large bulk and powerful bodies to take down any large prey.

While they are gone a few of the tribe spend their time searching the local area, most of the mountain base is smooth with age and the stream snakes into them. Still the area seems relatively livable for your people, despite a scarceness of food.

Your hunters return, most are empty handed but three of them carry armfuls of seals. They tell of a large group of them further up the coast, but warm about further hunting. Stating that their bull is truly colossal, larger and more fierce than any they have seen before.

The need for shelter is becoming more and more apparent as the days go by. Several of your people take to the search, plundering into dark caves and scouring the stone shores only to return empty handed save for a few sharp stones.

A few sails can be seen out at sea. The tribe is unsure who they belong to but keep a steady watch of them until they sail out of sight to the south.

A few more adventurous tribesmen return with several bundles of pale wood. They claim to have marched upstream and found a thin forest on its other side. The lumber is soft, but sturdy enough for tools.

Why aren't Loxodon in the civ chart to begin with? Walking elephants? Can it get more badass?

>>46510674
Wow, our morales piss poor. With everyone dreary and lost, even the most mundane tasks seem harder to do, with unease scratching at the back of our minds.

What can we do to inspire our people? To give them hope? Any ideas, my Loxodons?
>>
>>46510748
Maybe one big long house? A communal home to house everyone away from the elements until we find more.

We definitely need to build some housing. Longhouse sounds cool. Maybe we should also cover it with soil a bit like picrel so we could blend with it into terrain and hide from those unknown ships?

If I had to put them in, I'd give them

>Loxodon
>Breeding: struggle
>Melee: Specialist
>Ranged: Abysmal
>Magic: Average
>Technology: Exceptional
>Diplomacy: Struggle

>+Natural Armor (Small weapon resistance due to thick, tough skin)
>+Trample (Can trample smaller creatures for automatic bonus damage)
>+-Eidetic Memory (Bonus when researching or crafting; minor diplomatic penalty for condescending nature of Loxodons
>>
>>46511998
You wouldn't switch values for tech with ranged? Can't really walk off getting impaled by a javelin the size of a tree. Herbivore and hunger could add an extra dynamic that makes sense.
>>
Is OP kill?
>>
>>46512654
I googled elephant eyesight and it says they can't see over 25 feet, so I put them down for no range to make them somewhat balanced

would this make sense?

>+-Voracious Herbivore (Can survive off almost any vegetation, although requiring huge quantities)

>>46512680
shame, if OP would've gave a little notice I could've took over an hour ago and got us an extra two hours if before he got back
>>
>>46512879

Loxo will be added to the chart though, so something good's coming out of it I guess. Can we discuss the addition of naked mole rat-folk to the chart while we're at it?
>>
>>46512879
>>46512928
>>46512050
>>46512429
So, Scorpionmen, Loxos and Naked Mole Ratfolk, anything else?
>>
>>46512928

my bad, rechecked and it said 20 meters

Well, I guess I'll entertain it. What makes Naked mole rat-folk unique?
>>
>>46512981

Lets see:

They're highly resistant to pain.

They live their whole lives underground.

They have a designated queen, and are thus the only mammalian hivemind.

If skaven were humans, they'd be orcs.
>>
>>46512879
>>46512981

Huh. The more I know. Really wouldn't have guessed since they have forward facing eyes and tall stature. I like that voracious herbivore though.
>>
>>46512966

I can't find the thread right now, but there was consideration over a boar-folk race that would have its own special voting roll to decide what type of pig it was, and a hornet-folk.
>>
>>46511521

We're witnessing civ history.
>>
>>46513056
>+Pain Tolerance (Resistance to minor wounds, combat bonus)

>+-Subterranean Heritage (Adept at mining and excavating; inept at most surface activities

>+-Matriarchal (Unwaveringly obedient to a given Matriarch; lack of self awareness hinders creativity, penalty towards attempts of subterfuge)
