Behind one door is a lady.
Behind another door is a tiger.
Behind two other doors is a goat.

Your lover signals one of the doors, and you head towards it.
Before you get there, Monty Hall appears and opens one of the other doors, revealing a goat.

You still have time to switch doors.

There's two doors: one leads to certain death, the other to safety. In front of them are two guards, who you may ask two questions. One of the guards always tells the truth. The other guard does not know which door is which, but will say whatever it takes to prevent you from knowing he's full of it.
>>
>>46436843
I break one of the guards arms and ask the other one if his fellow guards arm is broken.

>>
>>46436168
This one is actually solvable. Assuming the speed thing means Blue hits 4x to every 5x red hits, it depends on the HP of the monsters you're going to fight the most often. Red is better against monsters with 1-80 HP, because you kill them faster. Blue is better for health values of 81-100, because Red would have to swing twice. Similarly, Red is better 101-160, Blue 161-200, Red 201-240 Blue 241-300, and Red 301-320. 321 to 400 there's no difference. For HP above 400, just subtract multiples of 400 until you get the appropriate number.

Assuming random distribution of monster HP, Red is easily the better choice - it's the better sword 50% of the time, while Blue is only better 30% of the time. But if enemies tend to have HP divisible by 100, or otherwise fall into the Blue ranges, then go for Blue instead.
>>
>>46437780
Four.

It's not "truth guy" vs "guy who can't add."
>>
>>46436843
I ask the first guard which door is safe, then I ask the second guard.

1 - The first guard is the truth guy. The second guard now knows which door is safe, and tells me that one. The guards agree.
2a - The first guard is bullshit guy. He guesses the door and gets it right. The second guard, being the truth guy, also says that door. The guards agree.
2b - The first guard is bullshit guy. He guesses the door and gets it wrong. The truth guy disagrees, and picks the other door. This is the only case where the guards disagree, and I go with what the second guard says.
>>
>>46436168

Kill man, dual wield swords.
>>
>>46438048
1b - The second guard doesn't want to just agree with the first guard— that'd make him look like a copycat faker, so he picks the other door. The guards disagree.

>>46438113
Thankfully the man is smarter than you.

>Random distribution

He means Uniform Distribution, everyone.

"Random" doesn't really mean anything.

You're talking about the difference between uniform vs exponential vs normal vs poisson... and so on.
>>
>>46438773
True. If it's a non-uniform distribution, then it depends on the number it's distributed around. E.g., if numbers tend towards 200 but can range from 100 to 300 with lower probability as you get closer to those outliers, the two are basically equal.
>>
>>46437795
Your evaluation of speed ignores actual time.

Assuming at speed 100 it hits at every 5 beats while at speed 80 it hits 20% slower, or at 6 beats, that puts the blue sword at an advantage in damage through the first hits at beat 6, the second hits at beat 12 (b200>r160), the third hits at beat 18 (b300>r240), the fourth hit at beat 24 (b400>r320), and it's only at the fifth red hit at beat 25 (b400=r400) that they tie.
>>
>>46439881
I'm assuming 5 hits vs 4 hits, you're assuming 6 hits vs 5 hits. So I'm assuming Red hits every 4, Blue hits every 5. You also appear to assume both will hit on Beat 0 instead of getting heir first hits on 4 or 5, respectively.

Anyway, in the scenario I described, 1-80 die on beat 4 or 5, 81-100 die on beat 8 or 5, 101-160 die on beat 8 or 10, and so on. In all the cases where I say Red wine, Red will kill the monster on an earlier beat than blue.

>>46439881
Hey, sissies.
Argue about some REAL swords.
>>
>>46440051
I'm not assuming 6 vs. 5, I'm calculating at what time (let's just use seconds instead of beats) the attacks are made.

5sec
r80^, b0
6sec
r80, b100^
10sec
r160^, b100
12 sec
r160, b200^
15 sec
r240^, b200
18sec
r240,b300^
20sec
r320^, b300
24 sec
r320, b400^
25 sec
r400, b400

While red is getting the hits earlier, the blue hits are coming with only small delays afterwards, and hitting considerably harder. The value of damage compared to the amount of time between attacks actually places the blue sword as superior when the HP is this low, since either sword will kill an 80hp enemy at 6 seconds, but only the blue can kill a 100HP enemy at that point. While the red sword has the advantage of killing an 80hp enemy at 5 seconds, a single second delay is not really that significant, and as that delay increase as time progresses, the kill range between the two swords also increases.

Ultimately, however, the final answer is simply that no, with only the fragment of information provided, it is not solvable, since either sword could be superior depending on any number of factors not present.

>>46436168
Attacking is an event, it's value some indicator of how powerful it is, let's call it damage.
Speed must then be the frequency of an event, suppose it is in Hz.

Hence it makes sense to calculate
Attack*Speed = damage/attack *attack/second
= 800 damage/second for both blades.

Both are equally good in terms of DPS. What's so hard about this

>The short story takes place in a land ruled by a semi-barbaric king. Some of the king's ideas were progressive, but others caused people to suffer. One of the king’s ideas was a public arena using a trial by ordeal as an agent of poetic justice. Either crime was punished or innocence was decided by the result of chance. When a person was accused of a crime, his future would be judged in the public arena before two doors. Behind one door is a lady whom the king has deemed an appropriate match for the accused; behind the other is a fierce, hungry tiger. The accused is compelled to select a door. If he chooses the door with the lady behind it, he is innocent and must immediately marry the woman, but if he chooses the door with the tiger behind it, he is deemed guilty and is immediately devoured by the tiger.

>The king learns that his daughter has a lover, a handsome and brave youth who is of lower status than the princess. The king does not shirk from his duty to hold a tribunal, and the princess' lover is thrown into prison to await his trial in the arena. The princess, meanwhile, through intrigue and influence, discovers which door conceals the lady and which door conceals the tiger. Once in the arena, the accused looks to the princess for help, and she discreetly signals for him to choose the door on the right, which he does. However, it is unclear whether she has sent him to his death or to a marriage with a woman she resents as a rival.

>The author then departs from the narration, summarizing for the reader various facts about the princess' state of mind and her attitude towards the woman the king chose for the arena's door, and challenges the reader to decide which door the princess indicated for her lover. The story ends with the famous quotation: "And so I leave it with all of you: Which came out of the opened door – the lady, or the tiger?"

I used to plan out an entire dungeon with lots of extra alternate paths and shit for the first dungeon of each campaign. The players would explore some, not others. Then all the side paths of each subsequent dungeon would be harvested from the ones they missed in the previous dungeon.

I should have just done it your way.

curse + blood, within 2 or 3 hits it wouldn't matter how much more powerful the enemy was.

Only thing that could save you when that couldn't is judgement and potentially anyone that allows you to strike first, but curse + blood is the safer bet.

If curse doesn't stack I'd switch it for frost.

I'm still going with one of the Judgement combos, but I just realized that Hell + Poison is killer. The extra damage from Poison is delayed so Hell doesn't get weaker as fast. And your first strike does effectively triple damage, that's nice.

Assuming the guards know each other's natures then this can be answered in one question.
>>
>>46450583
How? Both will tell you the other guy is full of shit
>>
>>46450232
That's putting way too much effort into problem solving. What you do is threaten the guards at sword point and make them have sex right there in front of the doors. In the midst of the deed order them to call each other little girls. Whichever one can't do it is obviously the truth guard.

If it turns out they both ARE actually little girls then you've done a really bad terrible no good thing and you are going straight to jail. And should. Burn the entire place down and call a mulligan on the whole affair. Move to the next kingdom over and change your names.
