It seems like the Imperial Guard are the least popular race, and personally my least favorite. Simple design, boring lore, predictable battle strategy and what not.
If there are any Imperial Guard lovers here, tell me, what is it that you like about them. I'm genuinely interested.

thin line holding humanity aloft in a galaxy where everyone wants to kill them.
Average men and women who rise to the occasion in a world where everything has gone wrong and keep fighting the good fight.
Fear not the alien for they are weak.

They used to be popular when they were overpowered.
They're also pretty interesting because they let you do historical/modern military style scale modeling in 40k, especially with models like FW's EDT and DKoK, or Steel Legion. Tallarn and Vostroyan are also very flavorful.
The rivety WWII style tanks are also charming. Especially the FW ones.

You literally posted this but with Imperial Guard replaced with Tau yesterday...

Part of it is the whole 'common people holding the line against a galaxy of horrors' thing.
But really, I like that you can have a bunch of utterly different cultures and militaries from multiple eras stand alongside each other, and it doesn't look out of place.

shut up and post Guardsman Joe
Look at the failings of the xenos and pass the ammo.
I disagree that they are boring to play.
They are so much more easy to relate to than a space marine and definitely more so than a xeno.
The army has far more tactics than just castling up and if you are just playing against guard players that do that i can see why you think they are boring. Movement is key in 40k.
You are defending a humanity from the unknown horrors of the universe. I always imagine myself leading my men when i play a game. You are the emperors hammer.

Someone post the 40k IG HF that is a guardsmen's reply to being called "just s man". That was great.
The Guard in general are awesome, Chaos Guard even better.

>Chaos Guard even better.
I think you've made a mistake, lets call the commissar.
