Pic related.
Yes, that's a fat elf. Elves are naturally very thin and gracile and this girl would be positively elephant-like by elven standards.
It just so happens that clumsy and fat elves are considered perfectly proportioned and thin child bearers by human standards.

Elves are an entirely different species. They aren't immortal humans.

And yes, this means that hentai Orcs are chubby chasers and the elves that are being raped there get mind broken into cock worship because they have low self-esteem.

I'm on my phone so I can't immediately see the filename, and I still recognised the artist immediately. I think I've been here too long.

Too bad he doesn't draw much after getting an actual non-fetish book deal. Guy's got a really bad habit of starting something and dropping it when he gets bored or busy. He's started and dropped three different webcomics.

>an actual non-fetish book deal
Really? Huh.
Apparently there's a patreon, because that's basically mandatory for content producers on the internet now. I didn't know about the third webcomic, doesn't look that good.
>>
>>46287642
Yeah, he's drawn a couple of published comic books. Pretty much the same style, both art and plot-wise than his webcomics, but with less instances of girls stuffing themselves.

He's done three webcomics: Muertitos (got bored of writing and stopped when he finished the current story arc), Pretty Princess Creamy Beamy (started working on his next comic while doing the final chapter, didn't have much time so took ages to update; think he eventually rushed out a half-assed ending) and Intragalactic (stopped in the middle of an arc due to the book deal; a shame because I actually thought this was actually a pretty good comic).
>>
>>46286349
I don't know if voluptious pirates really qualifies as a fetish.
>>
>>46288026
I hadn't seen Muertitos. The other two are kind of fun though, and I know that there's been a few of his pieces in various anthologies, leaning towards the more fetish side of things (hell, that's where that elf is from).

>>
>>46288672
Because one of the core traits of elves is that they're beautiful and perfect-looking. Plus being thin and lithe is as much a part of standard elven appearance than being short and bearded is for dwarves.

"Why not fat elves?" is still a valid question, though, in the sense that there must be some reason why elves are always physically perfect looking. Maybe they're like the Lorwyn elvens in MTG and execute anybody they consider imperfect, or they have a fast enough metabolism that it's virtually impossible for them to get fat. Or they're just all very concious of their appearance and spend a lot of time ensuring they don't look bad or eat unhealthy food and so on.
>>
>>46289292
Or they have magical fat reserves.
Instead of building up fat, they build up mana.
This means that their body is reliant on magic to work and also gets a more natural interaction with magical energies.
This explains both their thinness (this kind of elf would need to have no fat whatsoever and muscle instead, though) and their natural affinity for magic.
Having a partially magical metabolism might also explain their immortality.
>>
>>46289292

>>46289407
Would that mean that elves could cast a lot more/more powerful spells than human mages (who presumably don't have similar stores of mana to draw on), but at the risk of dying of starvation due to burning all their reserves? And that they'd have to eat to restore their mana? Would there be a limit on how much aman they could store, or could some elf just spend a century not casting spells and using as little energy as possible, and then use all the stored mana to nuke something from the orbit?

How would human (and other non-elf) mages work then, if they lack a natural "mana pool" like elves have? Would they carry around sources of mana (like crystals or something with mana stored in them) that they'd have to drain mana from to cast spells, or would they have to channel naturally occurring mana into spells, preventing them from casting any spells with a mana cost higher than the value of the "background mana field" in a given location?

You know, that could be a pretty interesting dynamic for a magic system. Casting spells would be a lot easier for elves than anybody else, but they'd effectively "cast from hit points" and risk weakening or killing themselves for overusing their magic.
>>
>>46289998

all three of those elf grills are basically white chicks.
>>
>>46290008
It would splendidly explain as to why human mages are rare and scholars - Making your mana storage gems is fucking hard work.

Elves, on the other hand, might have interesting variations in lifestyles. Wood elves might consider magic to be something to be used sparingly, as casting more magic means hunting more animals.
Meanwhile, High Elves would gorge themselves with food and show off spectacular examples of magical might.

Dwarves could have collective magic. They use the power of the soil around them, which absorbs the natural ambient mana that seeps down from living beings on the surface.
There are priests who cast magic, but only when strictly necessary, to not deplete their habitat's mana reserves. Any dwarf can tap this power, but anyone who's not a priest is forbidden from doing so on threat of death.
This means they have exceedingly refined craftsmen, as they cannot just use magic to reshape gems and rocks and shit.
Dwarves under elf settlements get more mana to work with, which causes a lot of salt between the two species.

Normally, if you run out of fat, your internal organs are used to keep you alive.
I think it would suit elves more to go into torpor instead. This means there are apparently dead elves lying around and not decaying, with humans having no idea what the fuck is going on.

Also, the magical metabolism would explain shit like having dirt actively repelled by their skin and having better cold tolerance. Shit like this would also be a kind of passive mana drain.

Fat elves could be hated because they are less magical, as their metabolism is more mundane than usual.

This sounds a lot like it's favoring elves, but that's mostly because I'm focusing on magic. Other things can balance this out.
>>
>>46286380
...Bobbeh?
>>
>>46289957
>bitching about Pugmire

Well someone isn't a Good Dog.
>>
>>46290293
That is pretty neat, and I'm now tempted to include something like that to my homebrew setting. I've already established elves being more "attuned" to magic than other mortals, but not really what that implies aside from them making better mages. Having them be the only race with a natural "mp pool" could way to represent that in a way that actually is a big deal in the setting.

It would actually thematically fit pretty well with the ideas I already had for magic, in that the "ambient" amount of mana would be a theoretical limiting factor in spellcasting. In my current version that would only really be on a very large scale, but some of the fluff I've written would actually make more sense if it was an actual issue instead of a largely theoretical one (one of the big things that the ancient elven empire did is supposed to be the creation of a device that bypassed that limitation, which ended up biting them in the ass).
Would also justify DnD-style spell slot mechanics despite the way magic works in the setting not being at all Vancian (I'm writing the stuff for a campaign setting so I expect it to get played using DnD). Just reflavor and slightly change the mechanic to represent the mana crystals the wizard is carrying. Higher level spells would require crystals that can store more mana, hence why a wizard could cast, say one 3rd level spell and five 1st level ones before resting (and refilling his crystals), and cantrips don't use slots because they're spells that can be cast using the ambient mana.
>>
>>46290008
>>46290293
It also allows you to have cute elf girls who eat a lot but don't get fat, whcih I approve of.
>>
>>46291895
Except they won't be cute with just muscle on them. Zero fat face would look like shit.
>>
>>46292100
True.
The anorexic look might be pushing it.
But then again, why the fuck would elves be attractive to another species?

>>46291895
Instead, we'll just the half-magical elves that gain actual fat.
Prettier for humans, ugly as shit for elves and tend to be outcasts in the elven population.
>>
>>46292100
>>46292835
Personally I'd just keep the elves looking like how elves normally look (because that's what people expect elves to look like), so they still have bodyfat (bodyfat actually serves useful biological functions, and it would ensure that if they blow off all their mana casting spells they don't immediately start suffering from starvation), but mostly conver excess energy into mana and thus are very thin.

Although making elves more alient-looking and turning them into creepy anorectic-looking dudes/gals is cool as well if you want to make different fantasy races more unique than the standard "short beardy human, pointy-eared human, angry green human" look.
>>
>>46292998
Yeah, both have merit.

How about having them all in the setting?
There'd be elf settlements that live closer to humanity and thus have a bit of cross-breeding going on, which makes them more humanly proportioned.
Wood elves look like classical elves, as their inherent magic is an important thing to make their lifestyle viable - They may not use magic more than necessary, but shit like a magically enhanced immune system or quasy-immunity to infection is very useful in the jungle.
High elves are also quite classical, to give off the noble pompous asshat vibe.
And then there's a group that's actually zero fat and looks down on all other elves, has selective breeding programs to make sure that fat never enters the population and shit.

>(bodyfat actually serves useful biological functions, and it would ensure that if they blow off all their mana casting spells they don't immediately start suffering from starvation)
I actually worked with the assumption that mana replicates all functions of fat. Basically, their energy is stored in non-physical form, which coincidentally can be used for more than just the usual biological stuff.
It would also reduce their weight, but make it impossible for them to swim, if they had all fat transferred into mana. But then there's the question if mana is less efficient as an energy carrier than ordinary fat, due to transferring fat -> mana -> fat with losses.
>>
>>46293135
IIRC fat actually has other uses than just energy reserves. I'm not a biologist, but I remember reading somewhere that not having any bodyfat will (aside from the obvious problem of having no energy reserves) also mess up your hormonal balance and the like.
