SPOOPY PUPPER
I like it. What's the best way to take advantage of doublestrike? Does trample work with it, or do you still not get the second attack if it's blocked?
>>
>>46194856
FIFTH FOR

THROAT WOLF
>>
>>46194958
Trample lets the second strike deal damage to the player if the creature 'dies' from the first one, yes.
>>
>>46194958
Trample does indeed work with double strike.

If you block my Spoop Pup 2/2 with a 1/1, and he has double strike, he tramples over you for 1 in the first damage phase, and still hits you for 2 in the second.
>>
>>46194920
I'd say mono-red Aggro. Other than being a wolf, there isn't much to make it work with the current support.

You could just as easily argue it's supposed to work with The Thing in the Ice, since it's a Horror.
>>
>>46194856
Alright, now how do we get this guy out on T2 with Haste and Delirium active?
>>
>>46195002
It gains double strike once your Goblin Guide dies in Modern.

Learn to read mang

>>46195176
That's actually pretty smart desu, but your going to need more enchantments to be consistent. Actually with the way delirium is worded, you are really onto something
>>
>>46195267
Doesn't Tribal count as well? It might be useful for Triggering Delirium.
>>
>>46195310
You dont need an enchantment if you ave a land, a creature, a sorcery, and an instant
>>
>>46195310
Look at the original method >>46195028

The fetchland goes to the grave. That's 1 card type, Land. You cast an Instant and Sorcery spell turn 3, which is the first time you can attack with the Wolf. That's 2 and 3, Instant and Sorcery.

Then, he's counting on Goblin Guide dying during those first two turns. That's 4, creature.

You don't need an Enchantment at all. In fact, if one of those Instant or Sorcery spells is Tribal, you're not even relying on the Goblin dying.
>>
>>46195314
Tribal is not a type or supertype. It's weird.

>>46195334

>>46195334

>>
>>46195416
>>46195432
Would Faithless looting be a good call for this? It could be an easy way to drop Eidolon into the grave in order to trigger Delerium, and with a land or any other instant that gives you 4.
>>
>>46195478
No, Faithless Looting is card disadvantage.

You desperately need every card you have to push for th final damage.

The point would be to fit it into the deck naturally without crippling yourself.

For example, Eidolon would fit in easily. Tarfire would involve making a sub-par addition (instead of 3 damage for R spells available) but isn't too much of a stretch from 2 damage.

Faithless just does nothing to further your goal while aiding a single piece in your deck. Furthermore, you don't WANT to discard eidolon...
>>
>>46195522
Fair point.

I suppose Eidolon also gives you a good 2 drop when you don't have the pieces in hand to trigger your wolf, or don't draw the wolf at all.

What if the angels aren't actually crazy and everyone on Innistrad is corrupted? Tamiyo asked why a Shepherd would turn on its flock... that would be when the flock is made of wolves in sheep's clothing, right? I'm guessing humanity on Innistrad was tainted to begin with and the angels and maybe Nahiri have just figured that out somehow. Sorin might even be aware of this if my theory is true

we don't know totally, but shortly before Avacyn went crazy her vision went double then she saw a bunch of floating stone obelisks with intricate runes carved on them, floating in concert. I doubt anyone else is swinging lithomancy around, so it kinda looks like Nahiri was the reason.

A pounding ache ran through her head and she dropped to the ground, crumpled in pain. A field of white flashed through her eyes, followed by an image of many floating stone obelisks with intricate runes carved into their sides, moving in concert with each other...and then a normal scene resumed in front of her.

>an image of many floating stone obelisks with intricate runes carved into their sides, moving in concert with each other

>floating stone obelisks with intricate runes carved into their sides

GEE I WONDER WHAT THOSE ARE
SURELY THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH NAHIRI
DEFINITELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ELDRAZI
>>
>>46195837
Its so nice that we were introduced to nahiri in c14 so that she can make her debut in a standard set. I feel like spoiling who nahiri is early kinda ruined the mystery somewhat.
>>
>>46195825
I'd love for it to be G/B, but Innistrad isn't a multi-colorful set. As I said the only enemy-colored cards we've seen so far are the figures who are the main focus of the set: Sorin, Nahiri, and Avacyn (Who I forgot about in my previous post). With the way the land base is going to be for standard, I don't think they're going to include too many multi-color cards.

But this is all just speculation. There's just as much of a chance that I'm totally wrong. Hell, he could be bant colors and be the lord-high-god of clue decks for all I know.

It is a type, and it has to be a type for it to work the way its intended. A common misconception is that it is a supertype, and indeed when it was revealed people where wondering why it was a type rather than a supertype.

The thing is, only types can have subtypes. Since they wanted noncreature spells to be able to have creature types in Lorwyn block they had to invent a new type which could share subtypes with the creature type. Because, you can't have it work just one way. If you decide that noncreature spells can have creature subtypes then that also means that Creatures can have noncreature subtypes so that effects that allow you to change creature types would also allow you to choose Arcane and Shrine, for example.

I understand that this is the way it works but I still think it's fucking bullshit. It's really counter-intuitive that Tribal is a card type. They have rules lawyers, they could've just changed the rules so that it works as a supertype. They could write a new rule that's like xxx.xx: Tribal is a supertype that appears on noncreature cards and grants them creature types. This is an exception to the rule that says noncreature cards can't have creature types.

Would that have been so difficult?
>>

Tribal only feels stupid and unintuitive because it more often than not has fuckall synergy with anything in the game. The only reason most people even know it exists is because of Goyf. We need more cards that actually care if you're going to be casting a noncreature treefolk/fairy/goblin/merfolk/etc spell. The rules for Tribal make sense from a programmer's perspective but not from a gameplay perspective.
>>
>>46196462
So huh I don't understand. You guys don't like free 3/3's or something?

I mean in Legacy of course it doesn't matter, you have completly gross cards like Ichorid that will completly annihilate your opponent, but in Modern dredge this could be a potential contender for a more consisten version of the deck.

I mean come on, getting Bloodghasts and this dude for free ( even though it's at end step, but oh well ... ) is nothing to scoff at. I personally think that at least some people will try to make a more aggroish version of Dredge with this on the table.

That said, completly bonkers in limited if you play UB zombies. Not sure for standard but that could be neat.

Relentless Dead chumping or paired with any sac outlet. You do need another zombie in the yard though.
>>
>>46197367
That's adorable.
>>
>>46197488
I'm going to admit I didn't see much of Modern Dredge, but from my side of things, I've seen them having trouble getting some comboes going. They need some bloodghasts and stuff to activate things like Vengevine and sometimes they just do absolutly nothing the whole game due to either lack of mana of any board presence, really.

But this card could maybe reinforce the deck, in a sense that it could be good in conjunction with Vengevine? Again, a 3/3 doesn't seem impressive, but for a deck that will constantly get it back, it can be super good.
>>
>>46197571
>Vengevine
>>
>>46197585

There's two dredge decks in modern, Dredgevine and Zombie Infestation. Infestation is better right now, but this new zombie could work out pretty well in the Vengevine decks.

By turn four, assuming you've enabled delirium, it's entirely possible your opponents can block and kill a 3/3. So you've essential worked the perfect hand for a tapped 3/3 token and three life off your opponents total, assuming he didn't also kill the token.
I guess it's okay for standard(?), but I doubt it's going to shake up any eternal formats. Still, I guess I should be happy for ANY ooze. Cool creatures.

You're forgetting how inconvenient delirium is. I don't know why you're all assuming you'll have it turn 2, 4 at the very latest, and that nothing will ever disrupt that.

"Its for limited" is not a viable excuse. "Its for EDH" is not a viable excuse. The limited focused products are for limited and the EDH products are for EDH. Main sets should primarily focus on standard then secondarily on modern. Legacy and vintage should see at least one card aimed at doing SOMETHING to those formats. Good EDH and limited cards should be a happy coincidence and nothing more.
>>
>>46196462
>Use Relentless Dead as a blocker or sac it on your opponent's turn with some mana spare.

>Untaps at the beginning of your upkeep, no summoning sickness

I don't see the problem? It's pretty easy to trigger on your opponent's turn if you've got a Relentless Dead out.
>>
>>46198617
you can't really give cards for Vintage without them being fundamentally broken in standard.
>>
>>46198664
That is not a valid reason to ignore them. I also said "Something" for a reason. Be it a card the opens gateways to no tactics or whatnot. It does not have to actually impact the formats but it should try to.
>>
>>46198664
>Treasure Cruise
>See the unwritten
>>
>>46198701
treasure cruise is just a power 9 in disguise, and even in standard it functioned that way, just later on in the game than in vintage.

it was a design failure of a card and a mechanic, and we all suffered under its big brother Dig Through Time.
>>
>>46198357
It won't be in the graveyard to see itself entering the battlefield. When an ability says "from the graveyard" it only notices stuff while it's in the graveyard.
>>
>>46198715
No we didn't, it was a completely fine mechanic for blue doing what it was supposed to do.
>>
>>46198664
That is a straight up lie.

Off the top of my head you could print like a 1 mana RiP which would have major impact in Vintage, Legacy and even Modern but not really matter in standard. Or hate cards aside you can print cards whose power rely on the power of the cards around it, so cards that get better the more back (format wise) you go.
>>
>>46198745
>blue with its ole graveyard manipulation

it was piggy back riding on black, because Sultai is green black blue, so all 3 colors got access to the mechanic.

its clear Delve was highly, highly under-valued in development, or Cruise and Dig would never exist, and Cruise sure as FUCK wouldn't be a common.
>>
>>46198745
Cruise was the best common printed in a decade.

in all formats it was a Power 9, the only format it was fine in was standard because it lacked cohesive ways to dump early.

it was never fine, it was a mythic level power card in a common body, and one that would never exist if anyone payed attention.

as with all of the delve cards you just put your thumb over the generic casting cost and realize that by turn 4ish you pay it for that.
>>
>>46198800
>mythic level
>Higher rarity means/should mean higher power
When will this meme die?
>>
>>46198825
never because its almost always been true beyond the "LOL SO WACKY" mythics.

its a "rare" then, whatever, whining about about specifics when you know exactly what I mean is the height of fucking smug douchebaggery.
>>
>>46198761
>>46198800
Yet we didn't see standard breaking. My point is it's the negation of the "you can't really give cards for Vintage without them being fundamentally broken in standard." argument. In standard it was a good mechanic, with some nice interactions but didn't come even close to warping the format.
>>
>>46195002
Back in my day standard two drops had 3 power and haste.
>>
>>46195746
Green and Blue, not Green and Black as everybody says.

Was Ruse Cruise a card you would gladly run 2-3 of in Limited? Because I don't remember it being a common ruining anything.
>>
>>46198536
No, it's a toad.
>>
>>46198629
Yeah, it ain't that bad. There's the issue that casting Relentless Dead T2 and Prized Amalgam T3 you need a very specific sequence of land drops, but eh.

The most interesting trait of Prized Amalgam is that your opponent returning a creature to the field from the 'yard triggers the ability, so its actually a pretty great card against other graveyard-shenanigans-based decks.
>>
>>46198923

Like, if it was a 2/2 that cantripped or froze a guy or something.

Then I'd run it in EDH. It just isn't good in a format with 40 life. It doesn't do enough.
>>
>>46199021
I was trying to think of monored cards. My bad. That saw Standard play?
>>
>>46199080
Actually, not that much. Aggro decks back then were either monored or naya, i dont recall many aggresive lists running BR, at least when RTR block was still kind of fresh.
>>
>>46199080
BR aggro decks were an outsider in RTR-THS standard. Sadly it couldn't punch through mono U even when your entire board got intimidate because two of mono U's creatures were ACCIDENTALLY black and red, and intimidate is useless against mono B. And Thoughtseize just guts your curve. UWx control was a pretty good matchup for the deck. I played it exclusively at FNM and it came to be known as the best deck to never come 1st. Came 2nd like 10 times though.

No, probably as with most vampires, he is an individual they considered exceptional.

>Only the gifted. Who do vampires choose to sire? Because vampires believe they are humanity's saviors, and because of their own decadence and hedonism, only the cream of the human crop is fit for siring. A vampire might decide to sire a human because of the human's beauty, charisma, intelligence, or talent, for example. In short, only the most remarkable humans become vampires.

Limited far and away makes them the most money. After that, it's kitchen table players who don't give a fuck and actually buy packs.

Secondary market fags (99% of serious constructed players) will never matter to wizards beyond marketing. So enjoy your deluge of garbage cards from now til the game finally dies.
