I don't think they can adapt around cybernetic implants.
Here's my reasoning. The take the xenomorphs as-is, right? Facehugger mouth-rapes some motherfucker, standard procedure. Then they collect the xenomorph that pops out of his chest later, before it grows to become a threat, and set up enough solid containment and isolated procedures to keep it from getting away.
Then they stick in the implants.
Then they feed it and let it grow.
No room for adaptation. Any implants are included post-birth.

>>46169519 is mostly right, but misses some subtle nuances. David Mamet's writing has a couple big points to it that are all almost the exact opposite of how Shakespeare wrote:
Mamet's characters talk quickly, with functionally minimal exposition, a LOT of vagueness/semantics, and, most noted in jokes about him, a lot of profanity. Like, this wouldn't be an unusual Mamet Exchange.
"Is that it?"
"Yeah, it's it."
"Like, IT, it?"
"Well, not exactly.."
"Not exactly? Then what the fuck is it?
" I couldn't GET 'it', so it's what I could get."
"That's great, it's what you could get. Awesome."
"Well fuck you, it's what we've got."
Shakespeare, on the other hand, wrote in rhythmic patterns (though not nearly as strictly as people think. Some of the most famous speeches in Shakespeare openly tweak iambic pentameter.) with a much bigger focus on wordplay AND a lot of exposition and recapping because they tended to have more going on. There's also a lot of subtleties that modern readers miss because they're no longer familiar with the then-prominent classics, or the grammar rules of the time. If Shakespeare wrote a similar passage to the above, it would go something like:
A:"But hark, here comes the knave! Is it with thee?"
"Ay, but, not as we could wish it so."
"Fie!
And if this is so, not as we would wish,
Then why bring it to me, this time and place?
I sent thee for a swan, and thou bringest
me crow!"
"Well then, my lord, if thy palate is so
offended by this bird, thou canst serve thyself!
In an humorous mix, given that much of Shakespeare's speech is so high because it was the manner of the time, there are several texts that recommend reading his work like a Mamet play.

it's clearly not a credible weapon to use against an actual military presence. It works decently on civilian populaces, but we've been amazing at wrecking those since at least the 1940s. They should have that shit down to an art by now.

>they realized that the only way to fix all the shit baked into the system from day 1 was the gut it down to the d20 and rebuild from scratch.
Yes, it's not like there aren't multiple perfectly functional and generally well liked systems out there that are heavily based on it...
Go whine about your increasingly irrelevant edition somewhere else.

There are a bunch of systems that use d20s well, but the number of the OGL systems that are actually good can be counted on one hand, out of literally hundreds of attempts. Not even that anon, but you clearly don't know shit.
4e saw that shitshow and took the 'let's try something else' path.

On the surface, they're an ideal bio-weapon: they reproduce by using humans as incubators, which kills them. They also can't reproduce without host bodies. Scatter some facehugger eggs across a crowded civilian area, cause something else as a diversion and to increase chaos, and then boom- you have a Xenomorph hive wreaking havoc across your target area.
Give it some time and manage to isolate it, they run out of hosts and food, the hive can no longer sustain growth, and likely hibernates while waiting for more hosts. Then, you eliminate them with some chemical agent you've no doubt formulated to target their biology, and the area is now entirely sterilized of Xenomorphs.
Of course, other bioweapons are probably a lot more useful and, like you said, we've been able to cause similar devastation since the 1940's. Xenomorphs likely have certain terror/psy-ops aspect that over weapons wouldn't, but that's about it.

>I have to wonder why vampires are even a credible threat at all. I mean they always seem to die in the end and all they do is fuck around and mess with a few people.
>I mean these people don't even usually know about vampires, and they wreck them! Vampires are clearly not an effective tool created by Satan to wreak havoc on the godfearing.
>Why didn't Satan just make super cancer or some shit? There's no cure to that, I mean you can't cure cancer because it's a part of people but what was my point again?
...
>I have to wonder why werewolves even try...
Lets just take a step back. If you're still asking these questions after realizing these are works of fiction, you're probably fucking stupid, but we're on 4chan so whatever, we're all stupid here.
1. Total war. The xenos aren't a tool to fight wars with, they're a tool to remove a fucking populace. They're an anitbody to the disease that is any race the xeno creator's deem a danger.
2. Abandoned Rifle. The encounters with xenos people have had in the movies amount to basically a gang of children discovering a father's gun. These xenos we encounter are not being used like a weapon, they're just sitting around, and yet they STILL are a fucking problem that requires rigid discipline to face, and in the end the victories are pyrrhic.
3. Proper setting. The aliens aren't meant to be activated on quiet, lonely space ships. They're not meant to find small isolated mining settlements on harsh planets with little to no life. They're meant to be sent into a populated area. Alien Isolation is the best case for how the aliens would have been used against an enemy. You have no idea what's going on, only that people are missing. Once the cause is identified, it's too late. The only option is full attrition in the vague hope it stops there and doesn't chain. Honestly the xenos ARE a disease. The comparison you make to smallpox is ironic because what cure is there to vet your populace of a xeno outbreak?

>what cure is there to vet your populace of a xeno outbreak?
Directional blades implanted inside the throat. Won't stop the adults from ripping the shit out of you but will stop the reproductive cycle.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
