Yeah all those settings are very different, but there's an overarching theme of "light-heartedness" and less serious sci-fi. Settings like blindsight, hyperion, and halo are more hard-sf and can be somewhat daunting to those unfamiliar with the ridiculous amount of tech they contain.

Seconding Slipstream. It basically feels like a Flash Gordon RPG. All the campiness and narm that you would expect from 60's Sci-Fi in one book.
