Cool land vehicle thread?
>>46095987
How's this for a firetruck?
>>46096021
While those things work, I can't help but think they were made only because someone thought it would be cool and that they could get away with it.
>>46096064
As far as I remember, "Big Wind" is the only one that was ever built. It was specifically designed to fight oil fires.

>>46096343
Imagine if that got carjacked.
>>46096131
There were earlier versions that were just with a truck, big wind just happens to be big enough to carry two engines for it and not blow itself over.
>>46096269
>armored siege tower
>exposed tracks and engines
>almost no cover from any direction.
>nowhere for troops to run off and storm an enemy wall
2/10 it's a cannon on a stick
>>46096443
This picture embodies everything that I hate about modern sci-fi design.
>>46096131
Weren't multiples of those built to clean up after the Americans in Iraq?
>>46096480
Have some classic sci-fi, anon.
>>46096443
This forklift proposes a future in which a really wierd pallet standard has won.
>>46096540
>gonna die historic on the fury road
>>46096502
Russia has smaller ones build from repurposed MiG engines to clear airports in the winter.
>>46096203
Good taste anon. Have a full view of the bagger 288.

Like land trains, you'd like the Amtrak Wars by Patrick Tilley
>>46096540
Anyone have the webm of the railgun bikes in Venus Wars?
>>46096594
>yfw when they actually sent this to Antarctica
>>46096561
A forklift for hover-pallets.
>>46096637
Not gonna lie, that summary made it look ultra-rad.
>>46096712
Is this thing supposed to quickly lay down makeshift roads for a base or something?
>>46096064
Well it is Russian.
>>46096802
Hopefully just itself a la Inverted World.
I love these classic futurecars.
Why?
This is not the future I asked for.
>>46096862
Pfft, needing 2 tracks
jetways are technically "vehicles" since they have a motorized truck
>>46096750
Its pretty 80's 'cold war apocalypse fiction' as fuck, but I think that's why I liked it
>>46097011
How does that thing turn?
>>46097054
Better hope you don't have to go under any bridges.

Sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire.
>>46097076
I went on one of those. It was pretty fun.
The next day a kid my age fell down a crack in the glacier and died. That was not so fun.
>>46097075
Probably terribly
>>46096802
No for bases but to help other vehicles cross muddy or sandy terrain that they might otherwise just sink into or get stuck in.

That is the coolest beetle/buggy mod i've seen in years. I'll take five!
Something about those old Soviet cosmonaut recovery vehicles strikes me as a bit screwy.

>filename isn't METAL_BAWKSES
Anon, you disappoint me.
>>46096617
These would be more fun and make more sense if their artists dressed them up as utility vehicles.
Like this one. No need to make it a tank when you can make it an amp.
>>46097304
That is not real metal bawks, this is
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PEU_201IfI
>>46097302
I found them when I was a kid in one of those 80s books on robotics. Intrigued me ever sense.
>>46097352
That's impressive. I wonder how much customization went into it.

>>46097664
That looks horrendously dangerous, incredibly hard to control and very fun.
Who made it?
This is basically a done-up truck chassis, but it does actually drive - it's got a massive dragster engine, but no suspension

>>46097739
A bunch of students at San Jose State.
>>46097802
How many of them died when they took it for a test-drive?
>>46097838
Not enough, I can tell you that much.
>>46096480
What's wrong with it?
>>46096599
shit russia, fucking calm down

>>46097194
Hmmmmmmm...
>>46096399
those training wheels
This is a cool car, but what's cooler is that it's from 1938 and has a top speed of over 100mph.

That's adorable, especially surrounded by all the big business-looking war machines
>>46096189
What is it (for)?
>>46097867
That thing? Wasn't that the tank that, when all guns gave a broadside to one side, always tipped over?
>>46098571
It's just a render.
>>46096594
How would the plane land?
>>46097802
Really? I'm from San Jose, and I have to tell you, SJSU is like the biggest degaffer school around.
>>46096962
What's the point of this?
>>46096021
Wasn't there a tank that used a jet engine for mine clearing too?
>>46097075
You don't, just go through whatever's in your way.
>>46098681
For when you want to jog but classic running is too mainstream.
>>46098701
WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!
>>46097123
I know why it was designed, so people don't fuck up the turf, but the biggest flaw is that you have to play golf with assholes using loud as fuck fans everywhere.
0/10, dude think this shit through.
>>46098618
It likely weighs fuckall, you land it on the snow and use a winch or something to put it back on the roof
>>46098579
I don't think so, it looks pretty wide
>>46098780
I SAID I'D REALLY LIKE TO SEE THIS IN ACTION!
>>46097148
Well. Shit.
Can anyone translate russian?

Can't really beat the classics.
The AT-AT scene in Empire Strikes Back really is what got me into sci-fi when I was 7 years old. I thought they were the most terrifying and awesome things ever.
>>46097350
I know they did In The Hunt, as well, but are there more artists that did this kinda thing, or did they go on to do other more awesome stuff?
>>46096605
Played in the hole made by these things as a kid , fun times.
>>46096300

>muh Bagger 288
Okay, two things.
One. The Bagger 288 hasn't been the heaviest land vehicle since 1995, when its heavier little brother Bagger 293 was built.
Two. Neither of them is really even a fucking vehicle, since they rely on an external power source.
They literally cannot move under their own power.
THIS is what you should be impressed by. NASA's Crawler-Transporter. The heaviest self-propelled land vehicle on the planet. The Marion Power Shovel Company built TWO of these bigass mother fuckers back in 1965, and NASA used them to carry the Saturn V.
What's the Saturn V? It's the tallest, heaviest, most powerful rocket EVER brought to full operational status. It holds the records for heaviest payload ever brought to orbit, AND highest payload capacity to LEO. It is the ONLY launch vehicle ever built able to carry humans beyond low earth orbit.
>>46098147
anime?
>>46100578
"Venus Wars". The Manga was bretty good.
>>46099344
that's nice, when I was a kid we only get to play in ordinary holes
>>46096477
A cannon on a stick sounds fucking sick to me

Didn't they also have to redo the transmission literally every day, because it's actually inefficient as fuck?
>>46096477
you didn't mention
>easily toppled over
>small turret with half its LoS blocked by the big turret's blast shield
>concentration of weight would crush it into the ground in the forest setting it is painted for
>main turret only aimable by moving the whole thing
>quaking in terror before a single infantryman
>no lights or mirrors
>probably no safety belts
0/10 not my next family vehicle.
>>46101737
My sides, dear god my sides
>>46098120
Loved the planes in that movie.
>>46097301
Well yeah, like everything in the movie, cause, you know, it was actually shot, not half cgi-ed. From what I've read even the guitar was a working thing, though they re-recorded it cause the sound was too bad
