Being evil in Ravenloft is dangerous for your character.
Dangerous in the sense that it corrupts, but gives you power too. If you get too corrupted, you become an NPC, possibly even the Lord of a domain.

I guess it doesn't need to be, but the inferiority is what? Weight, which nobody tracks, martial proficiency, which limits who can use it but not how powerful it is while they are, and cost. There is no need for them to be classes, it forces characters into roles that they shouldn't need to be in. A Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee style Martial Artist or a wrestling master or an unarmed fighter of any sort shouldn't have to be an esoteric master of ki and spiritual energy. A person who amplifies their combat ability with a special trance doesn't need to be unarmored or have any connection to wildlife.
Make Martial Artist/Unarmed Fighter or whatever a class, make Rage and Ki feats or archetypes.

Wizards have their spells, figthers just want to have a fucking reason to wield a mace over a quarterstaff. its not simulationist.

in fairness, it would look odd to an outsider that modern civilization can fly to the moon or transplant a heart, but can't cure the common cold. without knowing exactly how arcane magic works (and i mean exactly) it's impossible to say exactly what can and can't be done. the only rule that really decides whether a particular spell makes it into the book is tradition and game design, not whether or not it makes sense according to rules we don't know. and it will continue to be that way until they explain exactly how magic works in specific detail (eg. never).

You're forgetting the part where it says that you can prepare spells that you have available slots for. Since the multiclassing rules say you prepare spells as if you only have levels in that one class, you aren't looking at your total number of spell slots, just the spell slots a 1st level wizard has. Bear in mind that if you were in a raging frenzy you could get getting three attacks with the main end of your weapon (two from "extra attack" class feature, one from "frenzy" class feature for a berserker) with full strength bonus to damage, rage bonus to damage, and the great weapon mastery to boot. With advantage. You'll get a level of exhaustion for using the frenzy, but that's an available option in any given fight.

To your second part; yes you can apply GWM to all of your attacks, including the bonus action attack from Polearm Mastery.
So it's 2 x (1d10+Str+10) + (1d4+Str+10), all with -5 to hit.
You don't get advantage from the strength check thing, but you can get it from the savage attacks class feature.

To be specific, you only get feats when your class tells you that you do. For MOST classes, that's 4th level, 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th. Fighter is an exception in that it gets them at 4th, 6th, 8th, 12th, 14th, 16th, and 19th. Note: You can get a feet OR a stat boost at each of those levels, but not both. Also if multi-class, it is possible to never get a single feat or stat boost if you never take a class beyond 3rd level and just keep taking new classes.

For great weapon mastery, You can apply it to any melee weapon attack with a heavy weapon, at your option. So if you are a fighter with 4 attacks, you can have 3 of them be boosted, and 1 not, or 2 and 2, or 1 and 4, or none, or all.

As for the other part, rage does -not- give you advantage on attack roles. It gives you advantage on strength -saves- and strength -checks-. So basically skills and saves.

They're separated into categories that don't necessarily have any relevance to one another.

What's the difference between a spear and a trident? Mechanically, the trident is martial and more expensive, and weighs more.

There is no other difference. I'm fine with weight being individual to the weapon, no one tracks that anyway.

But why isn't there some standardization as far as properties, and damage?

Martial weapons should be 1d6 for a light one, 1d8 for one with no particular special properties, 1d10 for a heavy weapon with reach, and 2d6/1d12 (allow player to choose) for heavy with no reach.

This kind of thing would be very helpful. In this way, martial weapons can be superior to simple weapons (as they should be, the name implies they're meant to be specialized tools of war, not just a wooden stick), but not inherently inferior to other martial weapons. A trident is simply worse than a spear in the PHB, and you can always just fluff that you're using a trident, making it irrelevant.

The reason for different weapon types would be the damage type. Ever since the OG Greyhawk supplement came out, Thief has been a conceptual shitshow. Basically it's the class that does all the stuff that everybody was already doing before that class existed. You know, skulking around, bypassing traps, attacking foes from advantageous positions, trying to be clever. Stuff any Fighting-Man, Priest, or Magic-User that wants to survive to see level two should already be doing.

Because they're trying to get away from "magic keyword" thinking. To me the problem is that they half-assed it by putting any magic keywords onto any of the equipment (thrown, versatile, heavy, and finesse) come to mind. D&D works best when the players and DM are making reasonable assessments of the situation at hand, and sometimes having the appearance of overly-specific rules can really fuck up the flow of play.

You need like 4 extra crit dice for greataxe to have higher average damage than maul/greatsword, with advantage on every single attack you still need 3 to have .1 more damage in average, and it's also unreliable burst which is worse than solid damage or reliable burst.

Maybe my numbers aren't entirely correct but you need at least 2 for it to be worth it at all mechanically (sacrificing .5 damage for fluff is fine ofc).

Sometimes it happens. Our group of 5 (none of which were clerics, but we did have 2 paladins) managed to escape without anyone dying. We did not kill the mound but the fighter and paladin tanked it while the other paladin and warlock worked on escaping. I was a wizard providing ranged damage. I think as a whole we knocked it down to roughly half HP before we all ran out of the room and it went back to sleep. We then managed to basically blaze a trail through the house, using the now brittle walls as doors and dispatching the swarms that emerged from the holes we made. Honestly Death house is the best expedition I have ever played as of thus far.

two ranged attacks with a antimatter rifle, which means twice your ability score modifier (+5), plus twice the damage bonus from the fighting style-thing (+2), and then twice the bonus from sharpshooter (+10), which makes 36, plus the damage of a cantrip at level 17+, which in the case of firebolt/poison spray is 4d12.

The second one is just the damage of two of those spells, so 8d12.

Elemental Adept is always good for a specialty caster. War Caster is great if you need to get up and personal, but not strictly necessary.
