Sleepover: Snacks, comfy pajamas, nobody has to end the session early because they have to get home

Sleepover. If the pool is involved, time will(and should) be spent on that instead.

Sleepover D&D, that was my favorite DM, that ran games in her bed in a pillow/blanket fort and then we'd all snuggle and fall asleep together after.

Sleepover+D&D is definitely the best. You can keep going and going till 3 AM and nobody needs to leave. Also helps that my friends regularly shower so we don't stink.

Lots of game sessions ran late enough that people crashed wherever they could find space so sleepover was SOP.

Sevetal of us had pools but one friend had a pool and often invited us over to use it all day, bbq for dinner, then retire to the game room to game until 2 or 3am. I love swimming and goofing off in the pool but GM'img after was tough because after a few hours of that and sun followed by a big meal, I'd be super tired.

Pool party was definitely more fun overall but the gaming was more enjoyable, considered on its own, at the sleepover sessions.
