Best portrayal of Colossus by far. Deadpool may be one of the most loyal comic book movies with how they did deadpool, colossus, and warhead. None of that brian singer bullshit
>>

Isn't Negasonic Teenage Warhead nothing like she was in the comics?

Powerwise 100%, personality meh, she was like in two issues died, came back in necrosha and did nothing, so maybe.
>>
>>45588388
She's nothing like her comic counterpart, but comic NTW was basically nothing, so it doesn't really matter. I just thought it was neat she was in the movie since she's a reference to one of my favorite bands
>>
>>45588388
Negasonic Teenage Warhead was supposed to be a different mutant (Cannonball I think?) but they changed it because they liked the name better
>>
>>45588388
She was supposed to be Cannonball, thus the powers.

They picked her solely on the name, because they wanted it in the movie.

It's as good of a reason as anything.
>>
>>45588356
Every scene with Colossus was amazing.

Honestly, his speech at the end is one of the funniest parts of the movie, just for the visual joke.

Also, Bob showing up was gold. And in the best way possible.

Wait. Who is bob? I watched he movie but all I can hunk of is that one mercenary dead pool knew and nearly killed and the taxi driver.
>>
>>45588547
That was the guy he recognized while taking on the guards right? Was that a reference to something because i did not recognize it. But it was still funny as shit.
>>
>>45588589
In the beginning parts of the movie they mentioned his track record and time in the special forces. They had a TGI Friday in like Pittsburgh or something and that's how he knew bob.
>>
>>45588589
>>45588585
To not know of Bob, Agent of HYDRA is to not know true pleasure.

He's basically Deadpool's sidekick/pet/minion in the comics, a random Hydra minion who manages to not get murdered by Deadpool and ends up going on adventures with him. Deadpool pretty much treats him exactly the same way he does in the movie.
>>
>>45588356
Colossus was great but the Deadpool portrayal was pretty crap.
>>
>>45588654
nigga you smoking. that was deadpool to a T. A 4th wall breaking sarcastic hilarious asshole.
>>
>>45588654
Not really. I mean, Deadpools goes all over the place, but his early stuff(where the movie was focused) was far too out of character with how well known he is now. They could hardly have him lock a blind old lady in a small room full of sharp objects.

And he hits all the right elements of the character, overall. I mean, maybe not as frantic as he usually is, but that's a matter of medium.

Or are you talking about his origin story? Because fuck you if you think they should have included the original one.
>>
>>45588645
I'd like to see that in the actual comics. Think you can find a excerpt? All Google is giving me is screenshots of the movie scene.

>>

I wouldn't ask /co/, actually. It's the equivalent of asking /a/ where they watch their anime, or /tv/ where they find streams of new episodes as they air.

You're just going to be called a newfag and booed out the door.
>>
>>45588970
He had cancer, like the movie, and wound up in Weapon X (the same organization that "created" Wolverine). Weapon X, pronounced X but spun off from the Weapon Plus program's Weapon X (roman numeral 10) was designed around weaponizing mutants, though it did other things. Deadpool isn't technically a mutant. He and his fellow subjects/victims were put through experiments to create superpowers like in the movie, though just a general thing. It was he and the other inmates who had come up with the dead pool, not his fellow mercs.

The screwy bit? The more they experimented on him, the closer he got to Death. The actual, feminine personification of Death. Now as some fans may be aware, Thanos, the Dark Titan and general cosmic bad dude, has a total thing for Death. They're practically dating. And for some disease riddled, torture-attracting HUMAN to be wooing her? Well that's just unacceptable.

So Thanos made Wade Wilson immortal. Having beat the dead pool, he named himself Deadpool, and turned into the 4th-wall-breaking nutjob we all know and sometimes love.
>>
>>45589124
Don't forget the fact that Deadpool's primary nemesis for a long time was T-Rey, a zombie magician who claims that he's in fact Wade Wilson, and that Deadpool was a man he and his wife rescued and Deadpool then murdered.

Deadpool's own memories in the comic were dodgy at best, so he can't outright deny this(though he remembers being the one to rescue the dude who murdered his wife and tried to kill him), and it jumps back and forth on who's possibly right.

And yea, Deadpool has a thing for Death, and Death has a thing for him. One of the great ironies of the whole thing is that Deadpool would be well and truly happy if he ever managed to die for real, because Death is waiting for him to be together forever with.

I can sort of see why. More niche hobbies can afford to be friendlier since the number of questioners is not a frequent. As something becomes more popular that number can go up, and patience wears thin.
>>
>>45590365
I can understand WHY some people try to keep newfags out of anime and vidya and stuff as it doesn't take as much effort to get into things but comics are pretty goddamn obscure. On top of that the way big two works you don't just have say Berserk, or Jojo or X-files or whatever the fuck to watch. You need to find a specific run by a specific writer and possibly a specific artist.

it's a real pain in the ass even if you actually know what you're doing.
>>
>>45590412
Yeah, which is why I can see how /co/ developed a more tolerant culture, and that might be changing as comics get more mainstream.

The big 2 are pretty much done making worthwhile comics anyway, with some brainless drones who are afraid of the number 30 running things and the company as a whole devoted almost 100% to the much more lucrative films, they're not only driving away customers with their terrible tactics, but writers as well. Don't worry though, Dan Slott is still ruining Spiderman. Read older stuff or read non-cape comics.
>>
>>45590450
comics honestly aren't getting that mainstream. The comics are being farmed out to movies and marvel has the most successful movies, for whatever reason a lot of REALLY REALLY bad writers have been given free reign on the marvel comics and both companies are trying really hard to push the destructive "6 months sales boost" culture that they've been engaging in ever since they started engaging in annual crisis events.

DC is doing better on the comics front but they have mouth breating retards in charge of their movies.

comics won't go mainstream until floppies die and they start pushing trades like Manga companies do in america.
>>
>>45590534

A good trade is fantastic. I rarely pick up comics individually as the are too easy to damage/lose but I can put a trade in one of my bookshelves.
>>
>>45590613
yeah same here, I own all the IDW ghost busters trades, that shit is my jam.
>>
>>45590534
DC isn't even worth buying in issue form since they've changed their format from ads taking up one page at a time to taking up THE BOTTOM HALF OF TWO PAGES ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME. It's unreadable.
>>
>>45590650

...eww. That's god awful.

You can easily skip one page of ads but that just sounds like it's distracting and really breaks the flow.

>>45590534

I'm not 100% sure I'd call DC better on the comics front so much as 'Fucking up in different ways'.

Both of them really need to sit down with their owners and go 'Hey, we need to do what the Marvel movies are doing and get some people on the job of KEEPING CANON STRAIGHT and vetting new storylines for toxic stupid'.
>>
>>45590826
point, one of the largest issues facing their movies is trying to turn every superhero into batman and that's leaking into the comics.

There is that.

They are trying to recapture the magic completely they got with the first set of batman movies rather than going 'Let's try something new and see if it works out'.

Ant Man was never going to be on par with Iron Man but at least Marvel is trying something to get the movies with their own identity. Supes...doesn't really have identity and I doubt Wondy will have much of one either.

The only way they could be doing this worse is if they gave them to Frank Millar.

>>
>>45592029

Dammit. I always mess up Miller and Millar. Sorry about that.

I meant Frank Miller. I don't have a whole heap of respect for him these days and wasn't a big fan of his Dark Knight Returns/Strikes Again stuff even before that.

I'd much rather see something more...All Star Superman in a superman movie. Go in there and sell us on a being of great power and the best of humanity. That would actually be something different and set it apart from the Marvel movies.

Right now the Vision is a better Superman depiction than actual superman.

>>
>>45588356
Yeah, so far Deadpool may be my favourite marvel superhero movie from among the whole recent slew. The best part was that they kept the scale small and manageable. It was mostly just Deadpool, a few friends, and a motherfucker who needed killing. None of the usual "we have to do this or the world as we know it will end" stupidity, which tends to make the stakes feel unreal and unimportant. The movie knew exactly what it was going for and didn't try to overreach. They kept the origin-story relatively compact and manageable, fired off the jokes rapid-fire without lingering on them so it didn't matter much when they didn't really land, and, perhaps my personal favourite, actually dared to have an unironic thoroughly happy ending.
