You are a celestial being, a shard of a god that has been flung across the universe. Along with other shards, you have been chosen to seed planets in your god’s name, converting them into bastions of light.

You have been chosen to lead fellow shards in this mission. You are now positioned just above a planet’s atmosphere. It is your duty to ‘guide’ this planet and your comrades. The process to do this is to plant the seeds of faith among the planet’s natives, slowing converting them into zealots who will worship you, love you and die for you.

As you have been explicitly created for this purpose, you do not understand why it is necessary to do this nor do you know anything about the god who created you. You have only been given enough knowledge to understand your mission and how to accomplish it. While you shove these thoughts of doubt into the back of your mind, you cannot help but wonder about the bigger picture.

To play the game is simple. Choose a location from which to begin converting the natives. As a celestial being, you may appear as any form you desire to the natives and absorb elements native to the location you start from, so that you may seem more ‘worldly’ to the inhabitants. For example, you may assume the form of a water elemental in a coastal town, or appear as a dragon to more primitive tribes. Once you have chosen your location, what happens next will be up to you. As long as they worship you and your kingdom grows, that is all that matters.

So, you shall begin your mission at:

>A coastal village - A tribe of humans worship primitive idols and have a multitude of pagan gods they offer sacrifices to. You could easily appear to them as their gods, or you may destroy their old gods and offer yourself as their new ones. Only a handful of them appear to know magic, meaning they would offer little resistance to a hostile takeover. However, their village is also isolated, meaning it may be difficult to spread from there without a lot of work.

>A desert trading post - While seeming a poor choice at first, this outpost sits in a key location for travelers, meaning a lot of people travel through here. While small, it is wealthy and it could easily grow into a sprawling metropolis. Due to the sheer number of different ethnicities wandering through this outpost, getting them to agree on anything would be difficult, however. Merchants only truly worship money as well, so you would have a difficult time actually getting them to believe in you, rather than rely on lip service.

>A mage’s guild - Located in the middle of a gigantic urban environment, a mage’s guild would seem like a poor place to start a religion. Mages, for all of their logic and study, can be highly receptive to promises of power or bargains. While this is not necessarily worship or faith, making pacts with them would greatly increase your own strength. However, you will have to be careful, as if they turned on you, they’re more than capable of doing lasting harm. Due to being in an urban environment, you would have an easy time spreading and acquiring materials.
>>
>>45491778
>A wandering warband - Throughout the ages, perhaps the greatest means of convincing others to follow your way of thinking is to test their beliefs with an axe. This vicious warband, although small, have been marauding through the countryside of a prosperous kingdom for some time. None of them believe in any particular gods, but they are highly superstitious. They seem to read ‘omens’ in nature and their surroundings. With a little manipulation, you could probably get them to believe in you and allow them to spread your faith through war.

>A necropolis - Undead sit in a strange place. Neither quite dead or quite alive, it can be maddening to be stuck between two worlds. It may seem ridiculous to think that they could be converted, but undead are drawn to sources of life or things which they perceive may bring them peace. As a divine being, their tormented souls would be naturally drawn to you, begging you to grant them salvation. Nigh invulnerable, undying servants who willingly give you their complete obedience would be highly useful. However, they would not have much free will, nor would they be able to perform complex tasks without your input. There are many necromancers wandering this place as well. Since they use death magic, they could very well injure, or even kill, a celestial being. Most established kingdoms also have means of dealing with undead incursions.

>Other - Please specify.

First location to get three votes is where we will start the game from. Most importantly, have fun!
>>
Coastal village and usurp their idols. Gonna get our Deep Ones on.
>>
>>45491810
One vote for coastal village!
>>
>>45491810
I'll second this.
>>
>>45491845
Two votes! One more and we'll get ready to ursurp a couple of eldritch horrors.
>>
A vote for the necropolis for me! Playing angels and semi-benevolent undead are two things I find pretty nifty. I want them to have flowers and birds nest's and beehives in their hollow ribcages.
>>
>>45491912
Looks like we have another contender here. One vote for the necropolis, two votes for coastal village.

If we haven't reached a consensus by the next three votes, I will pick whatever has the most votes. If we have multiple options tied for the most votes, I'll roll dice until one emerges the victor.
>>
>>45491930
Evening it out with a vote for the Necropolis
>>
>>45491967
Two necropolis, two coastal village. We're going to need a tie breaker here.

Gonna vote coastal village.

Coastal village wins. Other locations may be visited in the future, so don't worry!

You begin searing through the atmosphere, plummeting towards the earth. Behind you, a golden streak of light illuminates the sky, making your entry plainly visible to any observers. You have been gifted with senses appropriate for experiencing this world’s atmosphere, thankfully. It’s best to see things through the eyes of those who you wish to convert.

The atmosphere around you is humid. So humid that you can almost feel it weighing down on you. Thick, green vegetation erupts from every patch of earth. The land here is succulent with life and natural abundance. Not a bad location to start an empire from. As you look out towards the coastline, you can see your target.

They wear little clothing, seemingly not ashamed of their bodies. They lazily cast out nets woven from plant fibers from small fishing boats, fully reaping the sea’s bounty. Currently, they cannot see you, allowing you time to observe them and their habits. As you look back towards the primitive huts near the coastline, you see a tall, carved totem ominously looking over the village. Something about it makes you feel… uneasy?

So this will be the place that your faith springs from. A tribe of savages. But their minds would be receptive to your ideas. That would make them easy targets, provided that you can do something about their idol worship.

What should we look at first?

>Observe the fishermen
>Have a closer look at the totem
>Further inspect the environment, determine what resources are available

>Observe the fishermen
Getting an idea about any distinguishing marks on their bodies which could signify rank or such could prove useful.

Then
>Further inspect the environment, determine what resources are available

>>45491985
It is a given that we will work to earn these people's worship, we should first attempt to determine the best way to make use of this land now and in the future.
>>
>>45492003
>>45492025
>>45492030
Looking more closely at the totem, it has been carved very roughly. Its surface is uneven, giving the exaggerated faces and engravings on it an even more unwholesome look. Something feels… sinister. You cannot quite explain it, but even for a divine being, there is something at work which makes you uneasy.

Moving on from the totem, you begin to look more closely at the environment. Abundant trees, perfect for cutting timber. Many bushes bearing fruit. It looks like this location has a lot of rainfall too, meaning that there is bound to be growth. There appears to be bogs located further inland, meaning it may be possible to acquire bog iron. Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a lot of ore or natural minerals to harvest via mining. You will have to think about what you can do about this.

You decide to look back at the fishermen. One of them is currently hauling a massive catch into his boat. Eagerly, he pulls out a knife and… makes a small cut on his forearm? Observing more closely, you can see more cuts like it. Perhaps this is some sort of measure of how many successful catches a fisherman has? It would seem that way.

He begins to pour his catch inside a small bucket. It must be for observing the fish more closely. As he pulls one out, his face suddenly becomes frozen with horror.

The fish… does not seem wholesome. Hideous flaps of skin barely cover two, gigantic eyes which roll around in their sockets. Its flesh seems to be rotten as well, falling off in scaly, thin pieces. The fisherman is panicking, trying his best to grab it and throw it back into the ocean. The other fishermen are immediately leaving him behind, desperately paddling towards dry land.

It’s then that you see a dark shape lurking in the otherwise pristine water.
>>
>>45491985
I say we further inspect the environment, the local flora and fauna specifically. It may give us inspiration as to what forms we might take to become more relatable to them.
>>
>>45492080
Before anyone can react, a gigantic maw filled with pustules and teeth swallows his fishing boat whole, quickly disappearing back into the black ocean lying beyond the coastline. You look back at the totem and the faces on it are… angry? They’re contorted with rage, and appear to be moving their mouths without speaking a single word.

The villagers surround the totem, throwing their hard earned catches to it, desperately pleading and bowing before it, seemingly begging it for mercy. After some time, the totem seems to return to its usual, grotesque appearance.

There is something darker at work here. Undoing their idol worship is not going to be a simple task.

>Observe more? If so, what should we observe?
>Begin to form a plan to counter this idol, whatever it is?

I'm enjoying your writing OP, better quality than most civ/quest threads that happen to pop up. Keep it up!

This idol obviously has these people at its mercy - likely polluting the seas around the village with its foul horrors. It must be displaced, naturally. We may be as a beacon of hope to this beleaguered populace.
>>
>>45492105
>Observe more? If so, what should we observe?
Gather more info on these underwater horrors

I'm also thinking we could use a long range attack to destroy the totem and see how the monsters respond. Possibly saving the villagers afterward
>>
>>45492105
Although unfortunate, we need to continue observing the people and their ways, as well as how this new threat affects their lives.

We can't go about interfering with this little to move on.
>>
>>45492105
>Begin to form a plan

If I had to guess, whatever 'deity' presides over this island holds that kind of fish in a high regard, and doesn't want it hurt. If it were just a poor offering, the fisherman wouldn't have panicked and just refrained from keeping it in his haul. If we want to keep the villagers from offering tribute to this monster, we should do what we can to keep them from capturing these fish.

My plan? Consider taking the forms of sea creatures. Something very visible, very pristine and elegant looking. Create a visual association in-between us and the benevolence of sea-life. In this form, we can guide fisherman away from these devil-fish, or guide the devil-fish away from them. We could also save some of the villagers from drowning, or guide fish (the good eating kind) to their nets.
>>
>>45492164
>>45492179
Growing curious about the fish that the fisherman caught, you decide that you need to understand what exactly it is you're dealing with before you attempt any course of action. While what they are enduring is horrific, you would only make things worse if you made any sudden course of action.

You draw to the water's surface, your footsteps barely making a ripple across its surface. What is curious is that there are patches of murky, dark water which seemingly dart around in the otherwise crystal clear water.

Little can hide from your sight. Within the darkness, you can see that same, hideous fish. You reach below the surface and grab one when it draws too close. Upon seizing it, you can feel the same presence which infects the idol. This fish is a direct product of the idol's meddling. Opening its jaw, you can see the same pustules and a similar row of teeth of the thing that ate the fishermen.

Judging by this fish's condition, it is some kind of spawn or minion of the idol. While it starts off small, it can grow into something massive. It is not a wonder that the fisherman was so desperate to get rid of it. Catching that fish, let alone handling it, must have been akin to blasphemy towards the idol.
>>
>>45492128
>>45492185
You throw the fish back into the water. Whatever this totem is, it is aboherent and obviously something which cannot be tolerated. These are your chosen people and they will carry your light to every corner of this world. Being the slaves of this thing is not the fate you intend for them at all.

The idol has grown still again, and the villagers begin to move away from it, returning to their everyday lives. It seems as though not a single thought has been given for the fisherman’s fate. Whatever foul thing consumed him… it seems that no one here has any desire to fight it.

The best course of action is to sow a seed of faith when their spirits are at their lowest. While you would prefer to take some more time to understand your enemy, there might not be worshippers left to save if something is not done soon. However, you cannot just simply appear and burn the totem down. If this idol is a product of faith, then all it will need is faith to return. You must break their belief, you must remove their fear.

How should we approach the villagers? What would be the best way to appear non-threatening, yet demanding of worship?

>Consider taking the forms of sea creatures. Something very visible, very pristine and elegant looking. Create a visual association in-between us and the benevolence of sea-life. In this form, we can guide fisherman away from these devil-fish, or guide the devil-fish away from them. We could also save some of the villagers from drowning, or guide fish (the good eating kind) to their nets.

I will go with this plan unless we have more suggestions.

>>45492215
Perhaps something reminiscent of these people. Merpeople of sugar, spice, and everything nice.
>>
>>45492215
Imbue a hero with a portion of our power. A promising fisherman, with a fondness for harpoons. If a devil-fish can be slain, then the idol can be defied.
>>
>>45492242
The answer comes to you soon after. These villagers absolutely love the pristine looking, shimmering fish which they catch by the dozen. It’s obviously a sign of abundance and of joy to them. The idol is also something very strange and alien to them, not to mention completely indifferent to their suffering or demise. What you need to do is appear as something which is exactly the opposite of this thing. A symbol of hope to counter the gloom and despair this idol has sown.

And so, your form is chosen. You are a merman of shimmering scales. Your lower body is just like that of their beloved fish. Your upper body is that of a tanned, grinning titan of a man. In this form, you radiate prosperity and friendliness.

Now, there is just the matter of knowing the right time to appear to these people. The sun is setting soon, and you cannot help but notice that the idol’s shape is beginning to change.

Should you wait until nightfall, and see what the idol does during the dark hours?

Or should we make an appearance, even if it's a brief one?
>>
>>45492242
>Perhaps something reminiscent of these people. Merpeople of sugar, spice, and everything nice.
Or a sea slug with humanoid features. The look would not be too alien to tropical folk.
>>
>>45492243
You consider that you will need to choose a champion to represent your cause. Tying in with your previous observations from >>45492277, what would be the best time for the people to have a hero? While the sun is still in the sky, should you choose your champion? Or will you wait until you see what happens during the night?
>>
>>45492215
I was thinking of our angels taking the form of white sea-serpents when I originally came up with the plan. Not kaiju sized (yet) obviously, but about longboat sized, and with scales that shone prismatically in the light. They'll need some teeth, naturally; we'll come into conflict with the demon-fish eventually, and we want to be able to accept tribute from the villagers (which is likely going to be in the form of fish and/or other consumable items).

We'd be more distinct and effective if we travelled in packs, like a school of fish. That way, we could take on larger specimens of the corpse-things, or disorient them via quick maneuvering. IF NECESSARY, we'd be able to evoke fear of our own, if we're establishing some sort of dogma.
>>
>>45492298
Let's wait through the night and enact the plan at dawn
>>
>>45492303
While your current form will be fine when you want more personal interaction with the villagers, perhaps it is not quite commanding of awe as you would need to really earn their respect.

You look up to the sky and call your brethren waiting in the sky. They appear before you, numbering seven in total. With unspoken words, all of them nod and agree with your current plan.

They take on the form of large, scaled serpents which shimmer in the sunlight. The idol is obviously not going to let go of its worshippers so easily, so you are going to need appropriate forms for combating the devil fish lurking in the dark waters beneath. The villagers would also be able to understand how to offer you worship and sacrifice in these forms.

>>45492310
They stand idly, as you prepare for nightfall.
>>
>>45492343
For now, you have elected to remain in your invisible, celestial form. The shifting faces on the idol seem to be... grinning? Their eyes are all staring towards where the sun is setting. The villagers are practically shivering in front of the idol, huddling around a tiny fire which barely illuminates the darkness.

As the last light of the sun disappears, you begin to hear noises emerge from the water. Loud splashes can be heard, the gnashing of unholy teeth. But, what is worse is the sound of something emerging from the water.

Gurgling, dripping, sloshing... Something in the darkness is emerging from the sea. The idol's faces are twisted with wicked delight. It seems the darkness is truly their time.

The thing emerging from the sea has a human face. But that is where the similarities end. The campfire barely shows its form, but even for a divine being, what you see is... unwholesome.

Rotten, sickly scales cover most of its form. Sharp hooks, bits of driftwood and barnacles stick out all across the surface of its dark flesh. It grins at the villagers, twisting its mouth in a way that would make a human's face split in half.

"Sacrifice." Is the only word it says. It is spoken in a language you remember all too well. Abyssal.
>>
>>45492364
A single, older man steps forward, bowing his head before the walking, disgusting thing.

It's then that the flames of the fire goes out, and a brief scream is heard.

When the sun rises again, the idol is covered with black, encrusted blood. It is still smiling.

You have seen enough. You know what is at work here. Although you do not quite remember what the Abyssal are, you know that your top priority should be to remove them immediately.

So what is our course of action?
>>
>>45492378
>So what is our course of action?

Make contact with the village leader?
>>
>>45492378
Reveal ourselves to the villiage
>>
>>45492378
Reveal ourselves to some fishermen after they've gone for their morning run, and perhaps make something of a show of keeping the devil-fish away.
>>
>>45492378
These abominations have the village people in a vice. We are going to have to play the long game, even if that means that some of the villagers are going to be sacrificed in the meantime.

I suggest we start out by helping one, though, particularly one that's in the presence of others. If he's drowning, we could nudge him to land. If there are few fish in his/their spot, we could wrangle them in their direction so that we have their attention. If the villager is at risk of catching a abysall-fish, turn him away; jump out at the fisherman, bump his boat, kill the fish if our chances are good. If it's a larger one? We should just talk about that when it comes to it.

We want them to love us more and fear them less. In time, we can bolster them into fighting back against a very much weakened demon.
>>
>>45492408
>>45492419
>>45492432
>>45492433

Your form has been chosen. Now it is the time to reveal yourself. Your fellow angels are waiting for your orders.

The villagers are returning to the coastline, trying their best not to look back at the idol. Its eyes are currently closed. You can only presume that this means that it is currently asleep.

Another older man just sits by the water's edge and weeps into his hands. He appears to have many marks on one his arms, suggesting that he was a very prominent fisherman. He appears to have an air of authority to him as well.

Now is as good a time as any to reveal yourself. Emerging silently from the water, you grab a pristine fish and throw it at him. It lands on his lap. For a moment, he is confused and looks down at the fish.

He then sees you. For a moment, he rubs his eyes and looks again, uncertain of what he is seeing. A few other fishermen seem to notice you as well, forming a small crowd around you.

Using your humanoid form, you give them a friendly, sincere smile. While they seem uneasy, they smile back, in an awkward way. You throw another pristine fish to one of them, letting him catch it.

It's then that you hear the water behind you begin to shift.
>>
>>45492454
The idol is aware of you, it seems. A massive devil fish, somehow sporting limbs pesudo-suitable for walking on land, opens its gigantic maw to swallow you whole. The look on the older man's face turns to despair as he stares down into the blackness of its mouth.

You speak celestial words, calling for the aid of your comrades. Shimmering serpents erupt from the water, glistening in the morning sun. The devilfish is far larger than you expecting, thrashing angrily and snapping its massive jaws at your comrades. Although it manages to wound one or two of them, it is simply far too outnumbered to inflict serious damage.

The serpents coil around it, akin to a snake. With a crushing vice, the fish explodes in a shower of rotten meat and bile.

The villagers just stare at the scene in front of them, unsure of what to make of it. The entire village is now aware of your existence. You look back at the older man and give him another friendly smile.

He falls to his knees and bows before you. Although other villagers are reluctant, they seem to do the same, following his lead.

You now have their faith, if only a small amount of it. Many of the villagers look back at the totem in fear, trying their best to not notice you.

Although they are still fearful, you have struck your first blow against the idol. You have listened to them enough to know their language now.

Do you have any words you wish to say to them? Shall you make this older man your champion? Or have you decided on another course of action?
>>
>>45492491
Whisper into their minds, free yourselves

>>45492491
He would be better served as a prophet - one who would convince his peers to turn away from their foul idol. After all, this old man has authority and commands the respect of his peers.

"Have you not had enough of this?" You ask of the older man. He seems surprised that you are speaking his language.

"There are too few of us left. The idol seeks to consume us all. Of course we're sick of this." He looks out towards the coastline.

"The idol has been consuming tribes since our people came here. It is the idol of the accursed sea god. We have been at its mercy since it appeared in our village." He speaks sadly.

"Then come with me. I will provide you with light and abundance, where this idol only gives you darkness and decay."

"You have killed its devilfish, but there are endless numbers of them out there. I do not know what you are, but... I want to believe that this nightmare is finally over. I am probably going mad and seeing things I just want to, but... I want to believe anyway." You hold out your hand to him. Reluctantly, he offers his, and you shake hands with him.

He seems surprised when he looks back into his hand. A single, glowing scale seemingly made of gold.

"That is my mark. You will be my prophet to bring salvation to these lands."

"But... Am I worthy to do such a thing? I am just a fisherman..."

"All of you here are fishermen, but only you carry the authority to be a leader."
>>
>>45492491
"From on high, your suffering has been witnessed. From on high, your cries for deliverance from suffering have been heard. From the waters, the tides shall finally turn against evil. Now is the time to fight.
>>
>>45492570
Smile to the others, tear down that old evil idol, prep the most primitive firm of warding runes, we must ward this place up before we can build. Maybe they can wear some kind of charm while fishing that scares away the devilishly?
>>
>>45492570
Turning away from him, you look at the other villagers.

"Your fear makes the idol stronger. Your faith in me will give you the weapon you need to destroy it once and for all. It will be by their own bite that the devilfish fall." Seizing one of the teeth from the fallen devilfish, you offer it to your prophet.

>>45492579

"From on high, your suffering has been witnessed. From on high, your cries for deliverance from suffering have been heard. From the waters, the tides shall finally turn against evil. From this land, and those beyond we call for you. Heed our words, children of the earth, and know our virtue. It is then, that your deliverance will come." Raising one fist to the sky, you give them your proclamation.

"Now is the time to fight." The villagers begin to rally to you, cheering and cursing the idol. You can feel their faith in you grow and grow.

After taking on appropriately humanoid legs to walk onto the coastline, you approach the idol.

Its eyes remain closed and it's still smiling. The accursed god of the sea must be asleep, content with its sacrifice.

>>45492598
You are uncertain about what you should do with the idol right now. It may be a good idea to leave it alone, as the idol is not aware of the growing rebellion around it.

Should you wait and prepare, or should you strike it down now when it is vulnerable?

I like the idea of getting some sort of primitive warding going. Maybe we could give the prophet yet another gift, and show him how to make some simple wards to protect themselves from devil-fish -- or even to call one of our serpents for aide?

I assume our power grows as our worship increases, so it'd probably be best to bide our time for now!

Pondering on it, waking up the idol now when you can take preparations to ensure your absolute victory would be best. As it is, the idol is unaware that you're here.

You wander over to a tree, peeling a scrap of bark from it. Your prophet looks on curiously as you begin to scribe letters on it with your magic.

"What is it you're writing? I have never seen anything like it before..."

"These are the holy rune words. They will seal evil away and ensure that you will be safe when night comes." Taking the bark when you're done writing, you attach it to a stick with some plant fibers, creating a small, fragile looking totem.

"Place your hand on the bark, my prophet." Reluctantly, he places his hand on it. The golden scale he's holding reacts immediately. His eyes glaze over, golden light radiating from them. When the light stops, he takes a few moments to catch his breath.

"What... What was that..."

"I have given you my wisdom. As my prophet, I grant you the right to invoke my holy words. Together, we will ensure the safety of your people."

He picks up on how to use the writing fairly fast. But fast compared to what? There... There is a memory there, but you can't quite pick up on it. The language becomes second nature to him.

He begins to make talismans which bear words of your faith. Bit by bit, he spreads them among the villagers. You head out back to sea and bring back a small devilfish with you.

"Watch now, as the thing you fear most..." You throw the fish at the ward you set up near the idol. An unholy screech echoes through the air as the creature is turned into fine, illuminant dust.

"... Becomes little more than dust on the wind."

With that display, everyone eagerly takes your talismans. More and more, their faith grows.

I think we may have just introduced writing to them, too. It'd be funny if their alphabet/writing system was based on the runes we first taught them for defense.

From here, I think it best to give the villagers some time to dwell upon their options. We should maintain a careful vigil, however, in the event of another attempt at sacrifice by our rival here. It's important to prevent a similar display, lest all our work be for naught.

Also, keep an eye out for a potential champion.

Does our prophet have a name?

After everyone who is still alive has something to ward against the devilfish, you take a moment to sit down and discuss things with your prophet.

"When does the god wake up?"

"Normally it would be content with that sacrifice, but it will demand another one tonight. Even if it looks content, some of the faces are frowning." Sure enough, looking more closely, the faces on the idol are doing just that.

"That means our sacrifice was not enough and it will demand more tonight." Not good news, to say the least. You do not have much more time until the idol wakes up.

"Do you have any weapons? Spears? Anything?"

"Nothing more than some knives and spears. Not enough to arm everyone."

"Then get your fittest men ready. Anyone capable of wielding a spear at all will be at the forefront of the coastline. Anyone who is vulnerable will need to be moved further in-land." Your prophet nods.

"I will make the preparations. We can have everyone ready just before nightfall." You nod, content with the plan you have made.

"Make sure to hold onto the charms. They will protect you from the worst of it."

Your prophet sits down and thinks about something.

"Your holy words can affect anything they inscribe, correct?"

"Yes. No matter what it is."

He picks up a conch shell and begins to use a knife to inscribe rune words into it.

The words read "thunder", "breath", "cleanse", "wrath."

"Let's see how those damned fish like this."

I'm not sure how long it's going to take, but if we have holy writings/symbols now, it would be a great time to have the village people inscribe them onto weapons. Spears preferably, a encompassing both utility (for sea-folk) and militarism.

Something like that. Carving wood or stone statues with wards. Maybe when the sacrifice comes within melee range of the monster, he will then shove a rune up his face.
>>
>>45492749
Maybe just carve the word "light" onto them. I say we name our prophet Awari is my vote as a scale bearer he gets a title befitting his life so "First Scale" can be his.
>>
>>45492730
Our prophet is yet unnamed. It is tradition for celestial beings to name their prophet, as it shows abandoning their old ways for the new ones you are teaching.

We have yet to find a suitable champion. Perhaps now is not the time to look.

For now, you should give your prophet a name. Once you have settled on that, your next move will be to wait until nightfall.

>>45492749
Currently, the only one who knows how to inscribe words is the prophet, so it is not a viable option. Few people can survive having the words directly imprinted onto their minds, so we cannot make it go much faster.

>>45492753
You will, however, ask him to inscribe one knife with the holy words.

"Are you sure about this?"

"If my words are imbedded in that thing's flesh, then they will burn with the fury of the sun. Even if the sacrifice dies, it will not be in vain."

So, what name shall our prophet bear? Once it is decided, nightfall will come.

"My prophet, I have a favour to ask you."

"Yes?" He seems a bit puzzled.

"I care not for what name you beared in the past. As my prophet, I give you a new name." Standing up, you motion for the villagers to gather around.

"Behold your prophet, Vakea Marama! He will lead you towards the light!"

"All hail Vakea Marama!" The villagers echo after you.

Vakea simply stands there. He lets out a small laugh.

"This is not how I was expecting this day to turn out. Vakea Marama is not a bad name, either."

The preparations have been made. It is now time for nightfall.

Since my internet's unstable right now, I'm going to call it here for now. Same time as next week sound good to everyone?
