My DM was running a 5e game and I showed up with a CE fiend bladelock. My DM was really opposed to the chaotic evil part, but he's my friend and he let me.
I played it just like a sith apprentice who sometimes got a message from his fiendish lord via the medieval equivalent of holograms. I didn't dick over my teammates which was especially easy since they always play nonlawful neutrals, and I played it like an explosively emotional, vindictive, but loyal teammate.
Summoning my bladepact saber and shooting force lighting eldritch blast all the live long day.

But that job can't use swords or heavy armor.
You didn't play that if you made that.
>>44854239
YOU!... I like you...
>>44854336
>implying Nox's armor is 'heavy'
>implying Time Mages couldn't get Equip Sword
>implying a character couldn't be 'made' a Time Mage, master it, and then be 'played' as a Knight/Time Mage
>implying the traditional game in which this was played had the same limitations as the video game
>implying there's any way it wasn't a traditional game due to the presence of the 'DM'

So you made a fighter who was a woman, the GM thought of a magical realm character but you played a highly-optimized combat monster with lotsa damage?
>>44854977
So you were pic related?

I always appreciate when these have more than one photo for each category. I barely understand the posts with a single photo for each.
>>44855030
lol, actually no, I was horrible in combat and spent my time making predictions and and calculating/communing with kami in character. I don't think I had a single kill to my name.
I tried to make a shugenja that could use a sword, failed, and ended up just being the party's follower, honor bound to quest with them, In the last session, I ended up leaving them for dead in the shadowlands to live happily ever after with my husband in the imperial city.

>not EDGY

I think it's best when it's only single pictures, but being fair, those single pictures need to be well chosen. Too many pictures either tells too much or is just sporadic.
>>44855158
Their is a limit to how much you can put without becoming that guy.
>>44854139
What the DM saw and what you played are the same thing.
>>44858452
I'm not sure which would be more fun to play, Crichton or Stark.
I need to make more of these for other characters someday.

That's not how you're supposed to bard.
>>44858770
feels good when you can pretty much make your team do whatever you want.
>>44858770
Never played ttrpg how do i play bard.
can i be a battle bard?
>>44858863
Well 5e bards are literally everything, so you can be a battle bard, or any kind of bard or not even a bard for that matter and still be viable
>>44858802
>>44858863
This is how you bard.
And also
>feels good when you can pretty much make your team do whatever you want.
I really hope the team is on board with you on this one. I would leave, if that happened to me all the time.

You. I like you.

This was a Magical Burst game, so I made a character who would strive to be a noble knight but was held back by being kind of a ditzy high school girl. The GM saw her stats and my description of her as "clumsy" and assumed she was an idiot, and her stupidity kind of got dialed up as the campaign went on well beyond what I intended.
The plot of the campaign ended up being so complicated and full of references to Asian religions and philosophies that nobody had any idea what was going on, so my character was mostly just confused about what was happening and spent most of her time dating another one of the PCs. Her magical girl powers revolved around metal so by the end of the campaign she was able to summon a bunch of weapons Gate of Babylon-style.
This was a Burst game, so the campaign was full of suffering - my character's girlfriend was slowly going insane, one of the other girls was forced to murder her own father, transformations were screwing up everyone's personal lives, there was an insane magical girl stalking us and murdering people, and a kaiju-sized witch was hanging out a few miles outside town ready to attack at pretty much any moment.

What do you do when you deal with someone who can cast Mind Blank?
How do you know what the DM saw?
A passing comment?
>>44854139
cropping isn't my strong suit
>>44859238
There is literally an auto-crop option in GIMP.
>>44858945
Exactly which class would Joe fit into?
>rolling up a new character now and I'm thinking of switching from deranged psycho to lovable tag-along for the sake of full party participation.

>anno domini 2016
>not using MS paint for all online tasks
It's like you're trying to be normie or something.
>>44858977
Sounds fun as fuck, like a good animoo.
>>44854411
Not him, but
>implying Time Mages need heavy armor or swords to do anything
The Time Mage in my current game can kick ass with the best of them using nothing but a staff, due to a quirk in the game which makes attacks with staves scale to your magic stat as opposed to your strength stat.
>>44859349
GM of that game here, it was terrible and I feel ashamed.
>>44859483
What was the kaiju witch a reference to?
>>44859592
Huge monster coming out of a fault and attacking at the Golden Gate Bridge.
>>44859751
So a bar-BEAR-ian.
>>44859483
>>44859751
I don't know if I would say it was terrible. It was weird though.
>>44859592
I didn't even mention the part where we went inside the kaiju witch and found a multi-level city with each level representing various sins. And honestly even after it was all over I still have no idea what the fuck was going on there.
>>44859306
Dunno. It was a GURPS superheroes game.
Basically I just hammed it up while the rest were trying to be the "ordinary superhumans" sort of cast that Heroes had.
Totally befriended the fuck out of the moody antihero too.
Turns out IotSFV is a pretty effective class.
Without context, this makes so little sense. And I don't even care.
Made a commissar, GM expected it to be like my last one- loud, angry, shot first and didn't ask questions. Instead I played a friendly one who was a father to his men.
GM was not happy when I had the ability to inspire 500 guardsmen in a single turn with a +90 modifier.

Dr. Doppler is badass as fuck.
>>44858163
I would disagree. It seems like it was played with more of a character than lolrandomevildemonmagicxD
