Would it be inappropriate to use Annah as she looked in Planescape:Torment as a PC or NPC portrait today? I only ask because D&D art has gotten a lot less "weird" since the end of 3rd edition and the death of the "dungeonpunk" aesthetic. I really love the Planescape stuff from 2E, but it feels like 4e and 5e have changed gears on what D&D looks like.

No tumblr/SJW debate please.
>>
>>44560038
>inappropriate
Yes, 90s CG looks weird by today's standards.
>>
>>44560038
No it wouldn't. Hannah is a pretty good character. Maybe a tad cliché, but far above "Pyromaniac" Ignus or "Lawful Stupid" Vhailor.
>>
>>44560038
>dungeonpunk
Stop. Just stop.

I'd say the quality of the computer model is more of an issue than the design. I'd probably give her another pass but I think it's generally pretty sound.

The thing is, even though the look presented in the books has changed your group is still free to have their game look and feel however they want. I think it's just a matter of making sure she fits in with the specific game you're playing. If everyone's on the same page, it should be fine. DiTerlizzi looking worlds remain pretty popular even if you're not seeing them in D&D books. That said, no, I would not recommend using her for a random pick up game. There's a good chance she won't fit in.

>>44560038
>>
>>44560038
I'd avoid using well known characters if I were you. It tends to make people think of the source character too much and default to it for any information they don't have on the character being played.

It just pollutes your character concept in other people's minds. If you want to say "They look like this <picture 1> and are wearing this <picture 2> while wielding this <picture 3>" then that's probably fine. But straight up "My character looks like this one from 'pop culture reference'." is both a poor idea and lazy.

Hey, they haven't shown up yet. I interpreted it as a genuine attempt to avoid the shitstorm that discussion of clothes and use of the word, "appropriate," sometimes invite.
>>
>>44560440
Maybe you can stop being so paranoid about the evil SJW bogeyman threat that doesn't actually exist.
>>
>>44560173
Ignus and Vhailor had a ying-yang thing i think that they were preatty good characters. They were very basic but there was a good reason for their obsesion about one thing
>>
>>44560038
i dont see anything wrong with her aside from the choice of clothing. There was a good reason for how she looked and how most people in sigil looked, i'd say that you shold change it around a bit unless you want to be acused of creating fetish fuel (maybe move aways from the one piece swim suit and into the very short pants on a one piece swim suit). Annah was a good character and i see no problem with someone basing his PC or NPC off her. Learn from the best and such
>>
>>44560453
It's them I'm worried about. It's the people paranoid about their existence.
>>
>>44560453
>that doesn't actually exist
LMAO wait until your game books get censored bitchboy, then you'll wish you sided with Gamergate and got angry with the rest of us.
>>
>In the game, Annah's sole deformity is her tail. In the book, however, Annah is described as having beige skin, six functional fingers on each hand, thin black lips that barely frame her wide mouth (which is filled with a chaotic jumble of squared-off teeth and pointed fangs), white hair that covers her head like lamb's fleece in inch-thick curls, and slits of skin instead of ears. She also wears a tightly laced dark-purple bodysuit instead of the mismatching scraps she wears in the game.
>>
>>44560548
Well, she does have beige skin but I can't tell if that intentional. Is the book good?
>>
>>44560529
>>44560453

>>
>>44560476

They were explicitly to show that even if TNO dies, there are things he's done that will live on beyond him just as they have lived beyond the incarnations that caused them, things neither just nor good whose ripples may spread to unimaginable extents, chains that can only be broken by death itself, holes in the very planes that may never mend, justice that strives beyond life itself and which can never be sated.

Also Black Lives Matters when they're the shades of your innumerable deaths
>>
>>44560555
book is shit, play the game, dont read the books. The fuck up the canon
>>

That's what I figured. That's why I've never picked it up in all these years. Thanks for the tip.

Naw, you're fine.

Yeah none of the novelizations are any good whatsoever. The Baldur's gate ones are total shit too, they fuck Minsc up.
>>
>>44560548
That's the original concept from the pitch. No wonder they changed it into hot Annah we all faped too.
>>
>>44562350

Thank god they changed it.

I'm pretty okay with non-practical armor but that is a straight up slut suit.

>>
>>44564180

Actually it was all the of the Hive's hedge wizards and low level mages together that opened a portal to the elemental plane of fire inside him.

In a disturbingly /tg/ twist though, it turned out that was his fetish and so it mostly just caused him to get stunned into a state of permanent pyrogasmic bliss/agony
>>
>>44562909
And yet, somehow, they are what is considered canon.
>>
>>44564041
Holy shit so did I, so many times. It was the closest thing to a free Penthouse magazine in those days.
>>
>>44564041
I did too.

In hindsight, not my greatest moment.
>>
>>44560038

No. No reason it would. Sigil is a city of exotic looks and fashion, it should never be just another D&D western fantasy city. Annah looks exotic partly by heritage and partly by choice, she fits in fine.

>>
>>44567416
She was a lawful, non-evil succubus. That can't be easy.
>>
Too low-key, if anything. You've got motherfucking demon goat people and motherfucking dragon people, and whatever the fuck >>44562225 is.
And what she got? A tail? Are you serious?
>>
So, if i rent a house at somewhere in the Cage, i'll pay rent to somebody i guess? But what happens if i suddenly stop paying the rent? Who comes and evicts me? Is it the Harmonium or what?
>>
>>44569153

Usually yes, that is a Harmonium duty. Though in Sigil, your landlord might be a cornugon and he can evict you without anybody's help.
>>
>>44567450
Because everyone and their hamster has seen it a gazillion times already, give it a rest.

I personally don't see what's the big deal with hot female characters dressing like they know it. Just look at real life, there are people flaunting their assets everywhere. Tons of people make a living being hot and scantily clad.
>>
>>44560038

I don't think the style would change much. Planescape was always intended to run directly counter to typical fantasy. They had the freedom to run wild with building a society from the ground up, with no basis in earth culture.
>>
>>44567416

Okay so she was sold to the baatezu by her an'arri mother, and so she's an innately chaotic creature who took very well to lawfulness which she used to win her freedom from the baatezu, and now the ta'anari all reject her because they assume the baatezu must still own her but is secretly a spy pretending to not be owned because they don't quite grasp the concept of lawful evil.

>>44569153

Harmonium will evict you but they'll need to have a writ of eviction from the guvnors so a canny basher can stall these things for a while if they have enough money spare or an advocate owns them a big enough favor.

More likely they'll just pay some cutters from the nearest bar to remove you and grab anything you own to sell off.

Note that if the harmonium are involved, that's actually more of a problem because debts can be paid as money, or the harmonium will take you before the guvnor's and the mercykillers will sell you at the slave's market to make good on the debt in terms of both the sale and in terms of you working off your debt and court fees. And any landlord who's taking it to the Guvnor's will likely want to recoup their money from the court case.
>>
>>44571393
>she's an innately chaotic creature who took very well to lawfulness which she used to win her freedom from the baatezu
Not exactly. She hated being a slave and the experience basically broke her and turned her into what she is when TNO meets her. It was actually her chaotic nature which allowed her to outsmart her Baatezu owners and win her freedom in a contract, not her ability to adapt and become lawful.
>>
>>44573526

Also TNO is probably her father
>>
>>44573664
What makes you think that?

One of my theories is that most of the public sensory stones in the Civic Festhall are actually memories from TNO's different incarnations. One of them is a guy who has sex with a succubus and then dies.

Has anyone else played or seen a character based on one of the PCs in Torment? Guys like Vhailor and Ignus are hard to pull off (both rules wise and otherwise) but I think they'd be a blast to play.
>>
>>44580499
Yeah, I've seen a Vhailor expy. He was pretty good.
>>
>>44575675
Annah-of-the-Shadows, obviously. I have no idea why anyone would love Fall-From-Grace.
>>
Btw, who built the first building in the Hive? Like, are they built by the Dabuses or did people just arrive there and start building their houses.

I mean, what sort of right to they have to the ground they stand on?
>>
>>44560038

Those cutouts on her swimsuit change it from acceptable to way too porny.
>>
