OP here. Lets continue lizards.

Last time we went on a raid with our centaur allies against the elves to disturb their settlement protecting enchantment, set their node ablaze, slaughtered about 80 elves of which about half of them armed while enduring 6 losses, made some survivors prisoners, interrogated one of them on the whereabouts of their settlement and sent scavengers to loot it.

The battle we took part was fairly noteworthy. By what name should it be remembered?

We survived 5 winters so far.
Besides the leader, our current population is 214 lizardmen (61m/62f/91ch; 1ch blind) , 8 giant lizards (f/7ch; being tamed;) , 12 constrictor snakes (12ch; being tamed), 1 humans (f), 7 elves (4m/3f; prisoners)

1 sage
1 shaman
1 captain spearzard
7 spearzards (2 wounded)
36 hunters
10 scavengers
10 tanners
10 armorers
8 tamers
10 leatherworkers
10 construction workers (building school)
2 idlers defaulting to hunting

We decide to loot:
silver dagger
elvish clothes (dozens)
barrels (rainwater and elvish wine)
books, scrolls, paper, ink
two longbows
two full quivers

We left behind:
delicate large wooden musical instrument
delicate glassware
furniture, fruits, etc

Should we burn down the Eneren settlement?

We've considered sacrificing the elf Galador to the fire god; we still have 3 more male elves prisoners and 3 female elves prisoners (1 young male captured by infiltrator, 5 civilian prisoners from the last battle). There was talk of sacrificing the remaining males to the fire god and giving the females to the centaurs if they want them for slaves. Should we do it?

Our females lay 310 eggs.

It's early summer.

What should we do next?

*21 idlers defaulting to hunting
>>
>>44521782
The Battle Shall be named 'The First Beastmen Raid'
Because it will be the first of many.

sacrifice the males to the Fire gods, accept for Galador. Keep him to the children. Thats much more funny for a noble warrior to be eaten by children.
Figure out which of the females has useful skills, and give the other two to the Centaurs.

Go back and loot the the rest of the stuff from the Elf place, then burn it down. Make it look like it was never there. Give the fruits to the Centaur, but keep a little bit for Xholotta and maybe the rats.

Patch up our warriors that were wounded, give the ones that died a proper Lizard funeral. and take 5 of the idlers to be trained as warriors to make up for those that died.

The battle in which we crushed the Eneren elves and defeated its allies from Oriamas go down in history as "The First Beastmen Raid".

We decide to sacrifice all males to the Fire god except for Galador; we keep him alive to be eaten by our children. Despite having broke several of his bones to make him less of a threat to our children, he survived for a couple days then somehow got free; stole a knife; destroyed 135 eggs, killed 35 children, 8 females and 2 male scavengers; at some point he stole a sword; tried to convince Witha to leave with him, was stabbed in the back and broke her right wrist; wounded 2 warriors, 8 hunters, and 2 scavengers; freed the three female elves; attempted to set our winter shelter on fire but failed; one of the female elves was killed by one of our warriors while they attempted to escape; another female was seriously wounded; he managed to flee with the wounded and the other females; our warriors tracked him; the wounded female body was found recosted to a tree in the forest; they lost the trail. Our shaman is convinced the elf was able to perform a magic ritual of some sort in order to heal his wounds and enhance his combat capabilities.

The high priest arrive with an entourage of
4 shamans
5 giant lizards
10 spearzards
10 hunters

He seems pleased with our progress and fixing our ways; impressed with the First Beastmen Raid; shocked with the recent spree killing we endured.
Overall he's willing to put a good word for us with the king. What do we manifest interest in?
> More learned lizards
> More beasts of burden
> More military wizards
> More workers
> A different assignment
> Other (specify)

The centaurs contact us; game is getting scarce and they'll move south next summer. They're thankful for our help with the elves, claim to have 20 warriors available for a raid until next spring and have located another node

More military. Some raw materials would help too.

Let's say we get somewhere around 10 spearzards and a big lizard packed with wood and other stuff?

Well, somewhat dead. That, and the various troll/golem/other unliving is why I'm hesitant to start a thread.

I'd love to play a EU civ with living creatures, if there were more than 2 people interested.
>>
>>44526977

Expand on this, anon.
>>
>>44527126

What is there to expand on? I don't like unliving things, or things with weird living mechanics (see demons, partially vamps, golems, elementals). The day-to-day life is important. Hells, the civ I liked the most, was 4 different threads over on /b/, that was mostly focusing on the day-to-day survival of centaurs in the desert.

As for more than 2 people, I like to have more than just 2 people, so it doesn't feel like a simple soundboard, but also enough people to get through disagreements.

Fearing a military response from the elves now that they potentially know where we live, we ask the high priest for more military lizards; the high priest says he'll have the king hear about it.

We remember what the centaur shaman told us about an evil priest being able to conspurcate a node and ask the high priest about it; he says the ritual is extremelly complex would take him and his apprentices a fortnight. He doesn't consider the node location safe enough for that. He says he could get the king Prince Mundi-ahnn a new assignment as leader of another expedition for the construction of a new outpost in the forest if he so desires; although free to pick a personal entourage to go with him on the next assignment, he'd have to surrender the current outpost to an administrator approved by the king. He says our sage, our shaman and our captain of the guard are adequate choices and would probably be approved, being raised to a position of nobility; or we could ask for a competent civilian administrator from one of the noble houses to be sent from home. Since we're food stable and have adequate winter survivability, the administration of this settlement would be trivial to a competent admnistrator. The settlement would generate surplus, most probably preserved food, to be redirected to the capital or to the new settlement; would train and maintain its own military, under authority of the war council; and would have a vote in the war council, proportional to the amount of warriors and resources it contributes to the lizard kingdom. That's something to consider.

We decide to train more warriors to replace our losses; warriors are a privilege class, should we handle it the same as last time sending hunters on a pride hunting?
We have our shaman start making more firebombs; he decide to undergo military training.

What should we do next?

I say no to the out post. Not now anyway, we haven't really consolidated anything here more than a hole in the ground....
About the troops, yeah, let;s send them on a honor hunt. Another thing, we could probably use the hunters in war as irregulars. They should have spears right?

We decide that meddling with the lizard kingdom politics at large might not be in your best interest at the moment so we dismiss the outpost branching proposal forwarded by the high priest; he packs up and leaves with his entourage back to the lizard underground capital, promising troops before winter.

We spend most of the rest of the year hunting to stock up for the winter and preparing for war; we send our hunters on an honor hunt and they bring back corpses of wolves and crocodiles. We elevate the 5 best to the status of warriors, and outfit them with default spearzard gear.

We assign some extra hunters and workers.

Our soldiers figured out effective ways to use swords in combat, we could outfit swordslizards if we so desire.

Our two wounded soldiers recover from their burns. We immobilize Witha arm with a splint, she should recover in a season or two.

The school is up and running! How should we handle education?
> Teach the basics of the sacred writ to as many as possible
> Pick many of those who seems talented and instruct them throughly
> Pick a few apprentices to teach the whole of tradition
> Don't bother teaching, research advance topics instead
> Other (specify)

Advanced topics available for study: smelting, fortifications, animal husbandry, giant lizard riding, combat magic, rituals, decipher elvish scrolls, psychology (human, elvish, centaur, other), religious lore (fire god, earth god, ancestors, wyvern totem, other), other(specify)

We might have enough construction material to block one of the larger tunnels.

Our scavengers report sighting several humanoid figures covered in dark cloaks watching from afar while they chop wood at the forest; they flee towards the ruins when given chase. Should we send our military to track them? How many?

Humans are sighted reconstructing a tower in a privileged high position amidst the ruins.

It's late summer.

What should we do next?
>specify

>>44528865
Start learning fortifications.

We should go out searching for the flying things in the ruins. Equip some swordzards and make them our bodyguards

As for education I would say
> Pick many of those who seems talented and instruct them throughly
>>
>>44528865
Teach the kiddies about Combat Magic.

Send 3 seasoned warriors to track the hooded figures.

How are Witha and Eyeless doing?

Use our resources to build a gate on what ever large tunnel we use to get to the surface. Establish a guard rotation on it.

Our sage tries to divide his efforts amongst studying fortifications, instructing promising children and attempting to teach combat magic as he researches it; one lizard can only do so much though.

We consider sending some warriors to look for the flying creatures we saw in the ruins a few years ago; should we do it? How many warriors should we send?

We consider sending emissaries to look for the dragon known to live in the swamps, as some think any help we could get from such a creature would be more significant than the threat that such contact would pose to our sovereignty. Should we do it? Who should we send to seek an audience with the dragon? How many warriors should we send to escort?

We decide to send our 3 veterans from the beastmen raid to track the hooded figures that were seen stalking our scavengers while they gathered wood; they left footprints alright, but it seems they're fond of jumping unnaturally long distances. The tracks lead to the barricaded section of the ruins near the church. Should our 3 warriors break in?

The humans finished restoring the tower at the ruins; they installed a ballista on top of it. Dozens of soldiers divided in several patrols can be seen in and around the tower at any time of the day or the night, all of them with at least a dog, a crossbowmen and a couple spearmen, but up to twice that plus a few swordsmen. Most of the ruins between us are within their line of sight now, getting in and out unseen might prove trick. Should we tell our scavengers to avoid the ruin sectors around the tower?

We consider the idea of building a gate on the north tunnel; our experience with construction amounts to dumping stones and bricks to obstruct a path and constructing haphazard walls our of debris, sticks and mud four our winter shelter, shrine, barracks and school; our working knowledge on mechanisms is fairly limited. Should we try to figure out something anyway?

What should we do next?
>specify
>>
>>44530286
I continue to work with the children until they've learned more about magic and combat I'll go with the warriors to the dragon when their ready.
>>
>>44530223
We are already slaves to Winters and fear.

>>44530226
Have the sage focus on teaching for now.

We should lunch a raid on this tower so we can move about freely. Ask the Centuars for help before they leave. This will be a chance to test the mettle of our new warriors. Its the only

Have the warriors come home and

since we can't build a gate, build a barricade on the north tunnel up in a way in which we can still get in and out of the tunnel, while still having it reasonably defended.
>>
>>44530286
I'll focus on teaching, having my apprentice eyeless be my learning assistant.
>>
>>44530581
I'm still not willing to vote for that.
>>44530286
We should send about 2 spearzards and 5 hunters to look for the flying thing.

No dragon for me. Tell the scavengers to avoid it untill we can mount an attack. Let's npt build the gate untill we've got an idea but the wall could prove usefull anyway
>>
>>44530638
You are right. Going after the dragon right now isn't safe Between the humans and elves

which is why we need to get rid of that tower.
>>
>>44530755
And what if we lose? who is gonna defend our people? I'm alright with attacking it if we've got a chance. Ask the centaurs about it then.
>>
>>44530286
oh and follow the tracks. If the 'ummies are scared of them they might prove usefull
>>44530755
>>44530880
we've got sneks right? How could we use them? Let's devise a plan to attack that tower. But let's try and leave the ballista intact. If all goees well we could have a permanent, heavily defended base right there
>>
>>44530880
well the last raid went well.
All we need are some more fine bombs.

>>44530931
I like the way you think.
>>
>>44530958
Bombs could burn the ballista. What I'm thinking is to make a distraction with the centaurs and maybe some of our big lizards, who will charge form one direction, and we simply swarm them from behind? We could even use the bigzards to trample some of the troops. I DO expect some losses but if we win and keep the thing intact, we're set.

And I'm the same guy in both of the responses
>>
>>44531006
I just had a thought. We wouldn't be able to man the ballista all year round. We'd have to retreat in the winter. so the 'ummies could just come and re-man it in winter.
What if we used our big lizards to knock the tower down, and dragged the remains of the ballista back to base.
>>
>>44531064
Destruction of the tower is the only way to ensure the safe passage for our people.
>>
>>44531064
>>44531129
Yeah, i guess you're right. I dunno, couldn't we do it like at The Wall? with fires going on the top and heavy clothes? What do you say op? could we survive there during the winter?

Oh and who knows who the flying geeks are. Maybe they could man it during the winter

Our shaman managed to make 5 more firebombs; should he stop making firebombs and help the sage with teaching?

The sage decides to focus his research solely on combat magic and starts testing the kids looking for attuned ones. He found out the eyeless one is attuned to Spirits - sometimes the dead whisper things to him, of events near and far. The path of Spirit magic is a hard and dark one, closely connected with necromancy and demonology; at lower levels it's not as useful in combat as elemental magic though. His skill level could be described as dabbling at best. Witha is attuned to Blood, and could become a blood mage with proper training; blood mages are known for boiling the blood of their enemies in combat, inducing battle rages, crippling or causing heart attacks through blood clots, and making elaborate rituals to reshape the body of creatures. It might be used to heal and cure poisoning. Its an attunement usually associated with vampires; closely linked with shapeshifting, making flesh golems and demonology. Her skill level could be described as dabbling at best.

Our warriors pry open a window at the barricade we tracked as the hooded figures hiding spot; they enter and find an empty room. The door on the empty room is also boarded; prying it open leads to a long corridor with boarded doors. As our lizards attempt to pry another boarded door they trigger some sort of trap; one of them is hit with an iron tipped crossbow bolt in the upper chest. They decide to leave the place and take the wounded back home for treatment.

We consider raiding the humans. Should we send a diplomatic mission to the centaurs to invite them on the raid and discuss tactics?

We start barricading the north tunnel entrance; there's little hope of finishing it before winter.

What should we do next?
>specify
>>
>>44531791

How many fire bombs do we have in total?
If we have at least 10, then he can start helping the Sage. How ever our Prince guy, what ever his name is, should work with the Sage to teach the kiddies as well.

Continue teaching the children combat magic. Maybe we can make Eyeless into a Necromancer. Or is that forbidden among our people? And Witha could become a blood mage. Make her start taking classes as well.

How is her son doing, btw? Well, I hope.

Tend to the wounded warriors (again). Scold them for not being more careful.

Invite the Centuars to a meeting about raiding the human tower.

Make sure we are fully prepared for winter. We don't want an elf raid catching us off guard.

Also,
>>
>>44531791
>>44531791
Send a diplomatic envoy to the centaurs. Keep training Blindy and Bitch-face in their respective magics. See if you can catch a dude and dump him in the ruins with the flying things as an offering. Prefferably alive...

All else should continue as planned until we get that tower
