Frame the centaurs for the missing patrols
When the humans attack them we roll in and save them
Big hereos, they side with us
>>
>>44437146
unless this back fires, both sides find out we played them and team up to exterminate us.
>>
>>44437146
This is a terrible idea. The centaurs are our only ally in an ocean of enemies.
>>
>>44437208
lets just ask them if they want to engage is a jolly old raid on the soft skin-two legs
also, Search the tunnels for ways into the city.
>>
>>44437102
Get some Civilians to develop Oil Pots that ignite on impact
Order hunters to collect animal fat for Oil
>>
>>44437208
Agree with this. We should not forfeit an ally for MAYBE getting another one
>>
We realize we're not yet ready to attack the humans and decide to search for other entrances to the human city in the expansive tunnel system that we could use as escape routes.

We loosen up the bars under a place we believe to be within the central area of the human town and gain entrance; turns out those are the sewage pipes under the cellar of some kind of food distribution building of the humans.
Should we steal human food from this building's cellar?

We also have our shaman start rendering fat from rats to make oil. The shaman says the rats we usually catch are too lean, to make lots of good quality oil we'd want the massive rats that dwell right under the human town. There's the problem of them being massive, extremelly aggressive, stranded in a deep pit and constantly surrounded by thousands of other rats in a disturbing swirling squeaking mass. How should we go about capturing them?
We could also hunt larger animals for their fat, although the centaurs are hogging the best hunting spots outside for the time being.

We consider ambushing another human patrol and framing the centaurs, in hopes the humans would attack them so that the centaurs would be forced to fight. How should we go about framing the centaurs?
> Kidnap and murder a centaur with human weapons, leave the dead centaur in the ambush site
> Steal centaur weapons, use them to kill humans
> Kill humans and dump their corpses near the centaur encampment

Use a big net to catch the rats
And could we not use a mix of all three to frame both sides?
>>
>>44437528
Why are we going with the framing option? It sounds like a terrible idea. I thought the majority didn't want to risk losing our only ally.
>>
>>44437528
First off, no framing the centaurs or humans. If anything, we should ask the centaurs to trade some animal fat.

OR HOW ABOUT WE ASK THEM if they want to join us on our raid.

besides that, offer Wicka a youngling to raise. So she'll feel more like part of the tribe.
>>
>>44437528
No Framing anyone, Ask to trade with the Centaurs.
Steal food from the cellar
>>
>>44437528
Don't frame. Poison the human's food supply and maybe even a well if they have one. Won't kill everyone, but will surely kill a lot, especially with winter coming.

There is nothing bold about it. All it would serve to do is weaken our only ally. It's a terrible idea. We are better off asking for help and building up trust rather than backstabbing the minotaurs for our own potential (keyword: potential) gain.

We decide to steal food from the human building. Many of the barrels contained no food at all; humans for some reason store lots of rotten fruit juice and rotten grass tea in large barrels. There are also lots of beverages with weird tastes in glass bottles. They're some weak kind of poison. We also find lots of shiny baubles and trinkets and an awful lot of human clothing.

We decide to use a big net to catch the rats. We assign rope makers who work for weeks making a sturdy need to retrieve a large amount of really fat rats.
It works alright the first couple times, but then the rats just gnawed the net. Still, we managed to get enough fat rats to render appreciable amounts of fat. Our shaman prepares lots of lamp oil and store them in some of the glass bottles we looted. We could stick a piece of cloth or rope in the glass bottle, light it on fire and throw at things we want to catch on fire. We have maybe a dozen of those. We accidentally discover that the weird human beverages are mildly flamable. Why would they drink fuel diluted in water we're not sure. Do they eat wood too? Maybe that's why their blood is hot? We really dont know.

We end up deciding to reconsider framing humans or centaurs to generate strife.

We give our human Witha a youngling to raise so she can feel more like part of our tribe. She asks for access to the weird human beveraged "booze" she calls it. We're not really using it for anything so we give her two barrels of the stuff. We also give her most of the clothes we acquire from the humans, as they're not hot enough for winter and most of our people prefer to walk around naked anyway. She seems to enjoy wearing different clothes everyday even if its not winter and wearing lots of shiny trinkets. Apparently in human society only powerful people are allowed to wear those shiny things so she is happy that she gets to do it. Silly humans.

What should we do now?
>specify
>>
>>44438190
Improve the nets so rats cant knaw through them, maybe turn that place into a permanent rat farm?
Also trade with the centaurs, ask them to teach us how they make goods and how they fight.
>>
>>44438231
This. Let's try to get a renewable source of rats for food, fat, clothing, etc.
>>
>>44438190
Trade some of this "Booze" with the Centaurs for some more supplies
Use what we dont trade off for fire throwers
>>
Also, just out of curiousity, is there anyway we could SCIENCE a race of semi intelligent rat people to work as a slave caste for us.
Obviously not yet but in the near future?
>>
>>44438231
Second this.
>>44438260
and this

also, how is the 'teach everyone how to fight' plan going?

and how is Young Eyeless? Doing well, I hope.
>>
>>44438190
Catch some of the more "docile" fat rats for a rat farm, get some idlers to help keep them out of trouble.
Use some brick and planks to make some sort of pen?
>>
>>44438231
>>44438260
>>44438274
>>44438298 unlikely but maybe
>>44438301

We're growing dissatisfied with having to walk several hours to the immediations of the rat pit under the human town to catch some rats; we decide to make a permanent rat farm near our home. We don't need to look very far to find a suitable tunnel section nearby with a suitably large smooth stone pit and start throwing rats there, you have no idea why there are so many deep smooth stone pits all over the place but there are plenty; the fatter the rat the less likely it can get out. There's the issue of what to feed the rats; the ones under the human city eat the rejects that humans throw away in the sewer everyday.
What should we throw in our private rat pit to feed them?

We consider weaponizing the "booze" but it seems to be only mildly flammable at best - after we set it on fire the flames flickle and go off after awhile, leaving fueless liquid behind, some don't even catch on fire properly. We wonder if it might be worth trading some of this "booze" with the centaurs.

Our hunters report weird noises coming from the tunnels under the human town. Should we send the military to investigate?

It will be winter soon. We're mostly set but we could use more wood, our scavengers aren't finding much more broken furniture lately. Should we start picking clean of wooden objects an as yet unexplored part of the ruins above?

What should we do next?

we have axes right? Well, lets start cutting down some trees on the outside for fuel, as well as picking through unexplored ruins. Teach the scavers how to fight, and send them out with protection.

Use the great lizards to transport large amounts of wood from the forest.

And for the love of all that is holy in this world, have them COVER THEIR TRAPS

We decide to allow our scavengers to go the unexplored parts of the ruins seeking more broken furniture that we could use as fuel.
We get lucky and find some kind of abandoned temple from which we haul dozens of very long wooden benches.

For now we're feeding whatever refuse we can find around to our rats in a pit; it's not particularly hard to find refuse when you live in a large sewer so we keep them well fed.

We decide to send the military to check on the weird noises reported by the hunters; we find the bodies of a dead human squad in one of the tunnels. Upon close examination, their tongues are purple and bloated - seems like they died from poisoning. Your men are unable to find any signal of who was responsible for those kills.
You don't think their meat is good to eat now.
Should we loot the corpses?

Some want to use the large lizard to haul wood from the forest, but with the approaching winter we decide to postpone it.

Winter is upon us, but we're prepared for it. Our winter retreat is insulated, has plenty of food, winter clothes and fuel. The gods aren't displeased.
The first moon was amene.
The second moon was harsh.
6 children got frostbytes
One shaman treats 3 children
The third moon was amene
2 children got frostbytes

By the end of the season our shaman treats the remaining 3 children with frostbytes.

Winter was unable to claim any lives this year. Spring finds us healthy. This was a good year.

22 children are initiated into adulthood (9m/13f)

Start gathering wood for next winter, loot the corpses, have bear killer the hunter try with a unit of spear lizards find the thing that killed those humans. Start building a school for the kids have the sage and witha teach as well as having hunters help to teach the kids basic survival skills along with the sage and witha's knowledge of the world. Ask the centaur chief if he knows of any fey clans, courts whatever that live nearby.

Let's do this
>>
Hey OP can we get yearly updates on Wicka and Eyeless?
And we should send a letter to the main lizard fortress that we are doing well now and have gone back to tradition.
Also I remember the Sage didn't like us
Have our actions made him happy?
>>
I guess OP left :(
>>
Just give him a second
>>
We should kidnap a tailor when we raid the town. Someone who can make winter jackets and what not.
And a black smith to make us weapons.
Kidnapping is a great way to get things.
>>
The thing with kidnapping is that our people need to learn these skills instead of us just living off of slave labor.
>>
>>44445539
You're late to the show.
We already agreed we'd take human slaves.
>>
SLAVEEEEESSSS bump

We still gotta learn stuff tho
>>
Right but slaves are for when we know how to do this basic civilization building.
>>
>>44446426
We can have our guests teach us.

Then let them go
Unless they cant be trusted. Or they want to stay.
>>
I'm cool with that idea
>>
If nothing else we have sacrifices for the Gods.

Hope OP comes back soon
>>
OP will return, also what should we do with eyeless since he's becoming a strong warrior and a learned one at that? Do we make him a head warrior after a challenge do we have him mate this mating season? Or do we simply tell him to continue his studies?
>>
>>44446762
He could become a sage. The smartest of us all.
Then we find the smartest female, and they shall mate.
>>
That could work still then the question is how do we determine the smartest female? And how do we prevent the other females from killing her?
>>
>>44446833
Good question.
Not sure.
I'm sure we will think of something.
>>
We could come up with the story that eyeless is meant to breed with one female and only one aa declared by the gods. So from there we could have a contest to see what female is worthy of him?
>>
>>44446998
a fuckin' exam kek.
>>
>>44447024
What if we breed him with a strong female
Get someone whose smart and strong.
>>
I mean that's what I think most of us want to do. The problem is how do we find out what female is the strongest without blood being shed or any of the females dying. Hence the exam to figure out what female is the strongest and smartest or just one of the two.
>>
We need to have OP tell us where Eyeless is in his developement
>>
>>44447088
Find the heaviest rock, and see who can lift it?
>>
That'll work for strength sure now how do we determine intelligence by knowing a different language and all that or by survival skills and stuff that's important to lizardpeople.
>>
>>44447201
Thats... actually a really good idea. Given our culture.
>>
Okay op isn't coming back

We decide to loot the dead human corpses we found in the sewers. They're wearing standard human patrol equipment, 1 had a crossbow, 1 had a sword, 2 had spears. We burn the poisoned human bodies, as they don't seem edible. The humans seem to have blocked the tunnel we used to go up last time; sounds of ongoing construction work come from the area.

We have our scavengers focus on gathering broken furniture. There was still plenty of wood at the abandoned church we started looting last year. One of our scavenger groups report sighting a humanoid creature wearing a cloak running near the church; they were carrying a large bench and had no military escort so they didn't give chase. Should we tell them to avoid the place? Should we send the military to investigate?

We have our tamers attempt domesticating rats. We don't traditionally keep pets, have essentially no experience raising anything non-lizard and the rats seem instinctivelly fearful of our tamers, but might be worth a try. Assign a group of full time rat tamers?

We decide to start construction of barracks and a school. They should be done by winter.
Should we send a gift of booze to the centaurs?

What should we do next?

Besides our leader, our current population is 223 lizardmen (58m/54f/111ch; 1ch blind) , 8 giant lizards (f/7ch; being tamed;) , 1 humans (f)

thus occupied

1 sage
1 shaman
1 captain spearzard
13 spearzards
26 hunters
10 scavengers
10 tanners
10 armorers
8 tamers
10 leatherworkers
20 construction workers (making barracks and school)
2 idlers defaulting to hunting

We produce food for about 140 and consume food for 191.
We need about 10 more hunters. Should we drop one of the construction jobs and assign more hunters?

Winter preparations:
We have less than 150 sets of winter cloth of less than 200 needed. Our leatherworkers should be able to make more than needed before winter.
Scrapping our rat pit could feed less than 50 lizards during winter. We consumed the last of our preserved food last winter. We're not producing surplus.
We have less than enough fuel for keeping the fire going for one moon. Our scavengers found and should be able to retrieve enough fuel for three moons before winter.
Our communal winter shelter is adequatelly insulated and has enough room for less than 300. We currently need room for less than 200.

Our hunters currently catch rats simply by grabbing them or throwing bricks at them. The only weapon they consistently carry is the knife we recently issued to all civilians. Should we have our hunters carry weapons?

We decide to send a gift of booze to the centaurs. We pack six booze barrels in our giant lizard and head towards the centaur camp. We send our sage, our captain, and our military. They come back unharmed three days later, bearing an exceptionally crafted iron spear. Here's what the sage report:

Upon arrival at the centaur camp we find them packing up; many of the centaur warriors are bandaged. We can hear the thunderous voice of their leader coming from one of the larger tents. Upon receiving word of our presence he comes to us. He seems tired and angry at something. He treats us with courtesy and invites us to stay the night. Later that night we talk in sylvan. Upon inquired about the wounded centaurs he uncomfortably says they had a hunting accident. He's seems to hiding something. We don't press the matter. Upon gifted the booze he seems ecstatic and express surprise about our booze making capability. Once informed about the source of the booze he just laughs. Once asked to join us in a raid against the humans he assertivelly refuse saying "We came in peace and we're luck to be able to get out in peace. We're not about to poke that hornet nest of a human city". One of the young centaur warriors watching the meeting says "What is in it for us? You surely don't expect us to just throw our lives away for no good reason"; their leader says "Excuse my son, he's young and perhaps too spoiled, seems that he haven't learned the difference between the time to listen and time to talk". He says his word on the subject is final and summer won't find his centaurs in this region. He gifts us an exceptionally crafted iron spear, probably of dwarven making. He send us on our way. Once we are out of sight of their camp a young centaur comes to us and tell many warriors are disatisfied with Gorga leadership. He propose meeting with our leader near a ruined tower in one part of the ruins we haven't explored yet.

Should we agree to meet him?

What now?

>>44451169 Will take 2-3 more years for him to reach adult age. By leader orders age teaches him languages, shaman teaches him lore of our people; captain teaches him how to fight when he's around but it is not easy; eyeless can't really parry or throw effectivelly, so he's mostly inept for usual lizard military tactics, he is trying to figure out some other way. He uses a large stick to help with navigation. Other lizard children don't like him. He spends most of his time in the fire shrine.

After the military returns we assign them to escort our scavengers retrieving wood from the church section at the ruins.

We decide that we don't have enough hunters as is, and we should drop one of our construction projects in favor of the more pressing need of not starving. Which one should we drop, the barracks or the school?

We decide that carrying knives suffice as weapons for our hunters and don't assign them any other weapons; we consider that it shouldn't pose a problem since they mainly kill rats, and they can do it even unarmed.

We still have a dozen barrels of booze. Should we see if we can trade it for some extra food with the centaurs before they leave?

Leader considers meeting the centaur rebel. We'll need the sage for translation. Should we send an escort?

Prince Mundi-ahn himself agree to meet the centaur rebel; leaving the sewers for the first time in years he travels with the sage and a token escort consisting of the captain of the spearzards and one more soldier chosen by him. The remaining military is dispatched in advanced to scout that area in the ruins, with orders to remain hidden.

The meeting site is easy to find, a large ruined tower on the outskirts of the ruins that seems to have been part of some sort of gate; several rusty metal chains are laying about. There's also some old furniture laying about. Seems like a good place to send scavengers later.

After waiting for a few hours, we hear the hooves sounds. Three centaurs show up, two males and a female. They're carrying longbows and swords. They look fairly young. Amongst them is the young male our sage met. He steps forward and begin speaking in sylvan.
"Many of the centaur warrior are unhappy with the rule of Gorga. It's said so many years as a leader have made him an uncentaurlike skittish coward who have us travel as convenient to flee from his many enemies. Before coming to this region we fled from a secluded valley with only some halfling neighbours where game was aplenty upon hunters sighting a few undeads near an old temple, and abandoned a lush forest with only a secluded tribe a trolls whom we traded on occasio to giant insects we might as well have hunted for their meat. He had us go through a swamp, where many were cripple by crocodiled and snake bites. Now he wants to flee this region after a small skirmish with elves, one in which none of our warrior even died. He wants us to through fey territory to the norheast to some place in the frozen dwarven lands, where he says he has friends, even though we fled to the halfling lands coming from the dwarven lands to begin with."
>>
>>44452724

"I have plenty of loyal hunter and warrior friends and gauged enough support within the council for a claim of seccession, but we need an ally to strengthen our position in this region. We propose a military alliance between our people, one in which we come to each other's aid in times of war. What do you say?"

How should our leader answer to the young centaur?

Meanwhile we called off the construction of the school and assigned ten more hunters.
The barracks should be done before winter, and although we're getting enough food to get by we don't have much of a surplus to preserve and stockpile. That might prove problematic.

It's early summer.

Our leader seems pleased with the idea of forming an alliance. Some particulars go through his mind.

He asks if the centaurs intend to settle permanently. The young centaur reply they'll stay as long as game is plentiful then move south.

We ask him if he'd be willing to join our council. He says our domestic affairs are our own concern, but we can hold meetings in a war council in times of war, in a tent above ground as the centaurs can't really enter the sewers (we access it through manhole like entrances).

Our leader considers asking for some food tribute as a token of the centaurs good will. Should he do it?

After that we deem the meeting finished and go back home.

What should we do next?

Of course we should it's our deal our support for more food and if we still have boozes then we'll throw that into it as well. We should ask him when the young rebel plans on overthrowing the old chief so that we can prepare as its important for us to psychical be there in support.

Our leader ended up requesting a gift of food from the centaurs as a token of good will. The young centaur rebel considers this demand fair enough and will gift us some food before winter.

We also discuss about how to contact each other. The centaurs dismiss the idea of leaving a permanent diplomat with us in the inacessible sewers. They say we can send a permanent diplomat to live with them in the forest if we want. Currently only our sage speaks sylvan. We could also entrust some of our children to them, to be taught sylvan. They'll accept if we feel the need to send a token military force escorting our chosen ambassadors.
Should we send the sage to live with the centaurs?
Should we send none, five or ten children to be taught sylvan by the centaurs?
Should we send none, two or five spearzards as permanent escorts for our chosen ambassadors?

Centaur relations with the humans is Unseen. Ours is Tense.
Centaur relations with the elves is Tense. Ours is Unseen.
Centaur relations with the fey is Neutral. Ours is Unseen.

The centaur tribe council met and the seccession proposal was approved. The tribe splits; the largest group lead by Gorga departs north. A group of about a hundred centaurs, maily hunters and warriors, under the leadership of the young rebel named "Gotho" stays behind and form a new tribe. Their warrior chief is a male named "Senu". Their hunter chief is a female named "Caisa". They have a young female shaman named "Finwe", who enjoys no political power. They name their tribe in sylvan as something that translates roughly into "Thunder Hooves" with some aliterations. Their totem is a Wyvern skull. They are our allies.
We decide to keep exploring the sewer tunnels.
Should we send our military to explore the main tunnels S, N, W or E?
Or the smaller tunnels SW, SE, NE or NW?
Should we send our military down the sinkhole into caves we found south?

clarification on the state of our underground exploration so far.

The sewer system sprawls for miles in all directions. Our scavengers frequently and our tanners sometimes use the north tunnel for access through hole in the ground, walking a few miles back and forth to the ruins for furniture, rocks and bricks, or to the forest east to scrap some tanbark from trees. Our hunters frequently use the south tunnel under the human town as there are plenty of rats there. Our tanners often use the west tunnel for a section of it drains salt water from somewhere. We barely explored the east tunnel at all and so far nobody found a good reason to go there with any frequency.

Here's the current status of our exploration of the sewers:

Sewer - N (partially explored exits to surface), S (mostly unexplored under human town, large rat breeding chamber, rain water source, partially explored surface ruin exits, large sinkhole leading into caves, unexplored caves), W (mostly unexplored salt water source), E (mostly unexplored)

The smaller laterals tunnels remain essentially unexplored, we just sealed the exits at and near the large central chamber we chose to live at. The four cardinal direction tunnels are ridiculously spacious and would take a few years to block each.
Even the lateral tunnels are large enough for
Our winter shelter is in one of the larger blocked lateral tunnels branching from to the northwest. There's space for at least three more similarly sized shelters if needed, we can also come up with alternative shelter solutions.

We decide to send five children with a token escort of two spearzards to live with the centaurs and learn sylvan. We send a proposal to our centaur allies of embarking on a raid to forge our bond in the fires of war. They invite our leader for a war meeting at their new settlement in the forest to discuss tactics.

Should we send leader, sage, and token force of captain and one soldier with the remaining military hiding nearby like last time? Should this be the default force sent to diplomatic meetings?

In the mean time we dispatched our military to finish exploring the north tunnels.

The main tunnel goes on for several miles; we notice we're heading slightly downwards. The main tunnel end abruptelly at an expansive large cave, piecing it close to the ceiling. A solid latticed iron metal grate smeared in sludge blocks access; one can barely fit an arm through it. Near the tunnel end a lateral tunnel leads to an spiral staircase going up and down. At the top of the staircase there's an iron manhole cover; pushing it aside your soldiers find themselves at the base of a mountain further north than the abandoned fortress you came from. Going down the staircase your soldiers find it to be flooded; one of your soldiers decide to check it out and swim down, it keeps winding about underwater. Took him about five minutes to swim to the bottom; it opens to the caves that can be seem from the tunnel above. Swimming up for a few more minutes he finds the caves are flooded; he couldn't feel current so it doesn't seem to drain anywhere. There are some sparse spots of dry rock. The ceiling is irregular. This cave seems to stretch for many miles in all directions. The water is surprisingly clean. One or more kinds of shelled creatures lives in the water, our soldier brought a sample of small blind cave crabs.

What now?

>>
>>44455270
Send some men but dont have them hide, we would look untrustworthy.
I think we need to find some way of boosting the population so we can inhabit all these areas.
As for the rest i have no idea

>Should we send leader, sage, and token force of captain and one soldier with the remaining military hiding nearby like last time? Should this be the default force sent to diplomatic meetings?
Yes, but send two soldiers and have the Eyeless shadow the sage. Yes.
Can we farm crabs?

Also, we should see about looting that tower the we were at. Maybe it has some goodies.

We could pray to the fertility god for a more bountiful mating season. The crabs could provide an easier source of food so it's less dangerous so send some hunters to bring back the crab meat.

>>
>>44455342 once we resolve the proposed raid can just skip some time
>>44455480 sure
>>44455522 it's unknown at the moment
>>44455689 we actually reproduce fairly quickly. the way we chose to handle mating produces an awful lot of weakling though.

We are curious about the small blind cave crab; it doesn't that bad at all, although it doesn't have much meat. Some wonder if we could farm them. Some wonder whether there are fish in that large cave. We could reassign some idlers and tamers as fisherlizards and send them to the north caves to try catching more cave crab and check if there are any fish. Should we do it?

We decide to send the leader, sage, captain, two soldiers and the eyeless child for the diplomatic meeting. We leave the remaining military at the settlement. We decide this should be our default force to be sent to future diplomatic meetings. The shaman is left in charge while the military leaders are out.
In the strategy meeting with the centaurs we learn that:
Our allies have 30 talented warriors. Most of their remaining adult population are hunter, and those are competent warriors in their own right.
The elves live in small communities scattered through the forest, each led by some sort of noble and protected by enchantments to obfuscate their position.
You can't reach an enchanted elvish settlement without magic of some kind.
The elves need to renew the obfuscation enchantment at least once per year, that needs to be done in specific nodes that enhance their powers, otherwise their settlements will be exposed.
Fairies use those same nodes for their own purposes one or more times every year.
The nodes are at their most powerful only four days every year, once per season.
There are at least three nearby small elvish settlements.
There is at least one confirmed node nearby.
That is what we learned from our allies.
>>
I mean sure we can celebrate her loyalty after winter or well after all the important stuff is done
>>
>>44456132
So we do take down the nodes and the centaurs charge in, while we follow behind?
Could we camp out near the node to capture an elven mage?
>>
Mess up the node enough to where a mage will show take the mage and kill him in a manner to appease the fire god for a benefit. But first talk to the fey as to the purpose of these nodes and there feelings about elves.
>>
>>44456027
>>44456130

Witha is raising a young lizard; she named him "Tuomas" after a human boy she liked when she was younger. She was seem at least once dabbling in swinging a sword around, but she lacks technique. She fashioned herself a few pair of knitting needles, she is not bad. She is teaching the young lizard embroidery and traditional human songs. She spends most of her time in a corner of the winter shelter where she store her clothes, even when its not winter; she sometimes go to the surface with the tanners and gather fruits when they're out picking tanbark.

>>44456132
>>44456281
>>44456132

The centaurs say they're not furtive enough to keep watch of the nodes and the elves keep patrols near the nodes all year long. If a node is being watched they'll either just use a different one or prepare an ambush. They say that if we could sneak some of our mean near the confirmed node and keep watch we might be able to find the elves when they come out to prepare for the ritual; they will be vulnerable during the ritual and at least for a whole season if we manage to disturb them while they do it.

Upon inquired about whether there's something we could do to mess up these nodes the young centaur shaman boot in in the conversation and says:
"W-well t-there's this one thing you see... I don't know how it works in detail but nodes are sort of a temple of nature, evil priests should be able to do their thing in some large evil ritual of sorts and conspurcate a node. That's bound to get the nature goddess very unhappy though."

We have 9 warriors without full time assignments.

Should we send a group of spearzards to watch the node? How many?
Our soldiers can remain still in place for about three days before becoming overtaken by hunger. They could carry food to extend deployment time but the smell might make them easier to detect.
How much food should they carry?
Should we rotate patrols? How often?

It's early fall.

What should we do next?

Let me see...
We survived 4 winters so far.

Our current population is still the same as in this post >>44450562, except 10 more hunters and 10 less workers.
Preparations for winter are nearing completion. We're currently building barracks at our base; should be finished in time. Our food supplies for the winter are inadequate at best; we're expecting some extra food from the centaurs.

We're allied with a new small tribe of about a hundred centaurs. We have 2 spearzards stationary at the centaur tribe and 5 children learning sylvan. Our leader, the sage, the captain and 2 spearzards are currently in a diplomatic meeting with the centaurs at their tribe, discussing strategy on raiding elves.

Our general diplomatic stance is still this one >>44454121

>>
Assign all able bodied men and women to hunt rats and crabs as well as sending some of our hunters or gathers to take up anything of use from that run down tower where we met the new centaur chief Gogtha I think was his name.
>>
>>44468228
>>44468306 we lack information about whether nodes can be moved; the centaurs describe the confirmed node as a glade in the middle of the forest in which elves were sighted by a patrol while preparing for rituals last spring and a ranged skirmish ensued, at the time the elves were better prepared and the centaur patrol was forced to retreat.
>>44468464

We decide to postpone the raid until after the winter so our warriors may stalk the elves without freezing.

We've had enough bad experiences trying to hunt while snow falls to know better than rely on the sewer bounties during winter. We suspend most of our usual activities and scourge the sewers of rats; we even send some of our most experienced hunters to try catching wild game in the forests.
We find and kill a large constrictor snake that was digesting a young deer and dig out its nest getting about a dozen living young snakes; our hunters killed a silver fox and half a dozen wolves.

We spend the late fall preparing the meat we got. As we were worrying we might not be able to store enough food it comes to our attention the centaurs brought a large gift of smoked boar meat; we should have plenty food for winter.

Winter is upon us, but we're fully prepared! Stocked with fuel, food and winter clothes we confine ourselves into our winter shelter.
The first moon is harsh.

By the end of the winter our shaman treats 1 more adult and 8 more children.

It's now early spring!

Our barracks are up and running! Our warriors start focusing their training in parrying and spear throws in their spare time.
Should we train our civilians in the art of war?
We current know the combat doctrines of Unarmed combat, Knife fight, Knife throw, Spear fight, Spear throw, and Parrying.
We have equipment we're unfamiliar with in our stocks:
Chain mails, Swords, Crossbows.
Should we assign soldiers to develop a new combat doctrine?

3 of the children don't heal properly and become crippled for life. The eyeless one was amongst the sick children who got sick, but he managed to recover.

The young constrictor snakes survive the winter. Should we have our tamers start training them?

As our workers resume their activities, we find out a section of ruins where we looted from a church last year has had a whole block of buildings heavily barricaded during the winter. Should we send some lizards to pry the barricades open?
Should we send our warriors to investigate?

We consider chopping wood at the forest using our giant lizard and its young at the surface to help hauling logs. The adult female is massive; juvenile giant lizards will take a few more years until they reach full size, but they're already larger than adult lizardmen. They're a sight to behold. So far we've only took our giant lizard outside in rare occasions hauling good to the centaur settlement. Should we use our giant lizards on a daily basis to haul logs from outside?

It is now mating season! How do we handle it?
> Mate traditionally, males pick mates and fight till death for each other's harem

> Tell the females to pick a different male each

Get eyeless a mate, start training our civilians in our traditional ways of combat and then have our warriors learn to master armor training, swords, and crossbows. Yes to taming the snake no to using our giant lizards freely to haul logs we can't draw human attention yet. Have the cripples fight one another to the death to see who will be the next eyeless. Throw Witha a celebration because she's been with us for this long. Keep our traditional mating ways.

We decide to train the civilians in the arts of war; they're undergoing training to fight with spear and cut with a knife. Their skill should improve over time.
We decide to have some soldiers develop new combat doctrines on the exotic equipments we have; they're learning to use chainmails and swords. Their skill should improve over time.

We remember our promise for a traditional mating season this; all warriors and most hunters claimed several females. 4 males were killed. Most young males were too scared of the older warriors to claim females at all.

We have our tamers start training snakes.
We decide to use giant lizards to help hauling logs; we fashion several hand axes and start felling trees. We now have a constant presence in the forest; try as we might to hide our trails, someone wandering the area during certain times of the day will find unerring indicators of presence and direction.
We start building a school. Should be done until winter.
We decide to sacrifice the crippled children to the fire god.

We hold a celebration to name Witha as an honorary lizard. What should be her honorary lizard name?

17 children are initiated into adulthood.

We decide to dispatch an emissary back to the place we came from with news of our prosperity and a welcoming word for visitors.

We're ready to set ambush for the elves. The centaurs keep hunters roaming around the forest waiting for our signal; he'll have about 20 warriors available once the signal is given.
What signal should be? Shouting, smoke from burning trees, other (specify)?
How many infiltrators? Two, five, ten?
How many warriors wait signal? We have 13 total.
How much food they take? None, a week, two weeks?
How long before the solstice our warriors hide? A day, three days, a week, two weeks?
Warriors take a bottle of flamable oil each? We have 12 available.
When our warriors give the signal? On approach, preparation, during ceremony or as elves disperse?

What should we do next?
>specify
>>
>>44470431
The signal to attack shall be the burning of trees.
We shall have 5 infiltrators and 5 warriors (we need to work on training more)
We should take take a weeks worth of food
We warriors shall hide for 3 before the solstice
Each warrior shall take 2 flame bottles
our warriors will give the signal during the the preparation of the ceremony.

That sound good to everyone?

Oh, also
Withas new Lizard name shall be Xholotta

We decided that the signal to attack will be the burning of trees; that we'll divide our warriors in a group of five infiltrators who will sneak by until they have a hiding spot with a clear view of the node and five warriors waiting for the signal; that the warriors will take 2 bottles of oil each - leaving the five infiltrators with only two bottles to share amongst themselves.
We instruct our infiltrators to wait until they can see elves preparing for the ceremony to give the signal. We dispatch our infiltrators with a week worth of food each three days before solstice.

Our first infiltrator went past a distracted young elf taking a nap on top of a tree! He couldn't help himself on seizing the opportunity to kidnap the elf and abandoned his mission.
Our second infiltrator was unable to find a hiding spot with clear sight of the glade, but hid nearby anyway.
Our third infiltrator carry a bottle of oil; he was unable to find a proper hiding spot and remained a little exposed.
Our fourth infiltrator carry a bottle of oil; he found a suitable spot with clear sight of the glade.
Our fifth infiltrator found a prime hiding spot within earshot of the glade.

On the second day hiding our third infiltrator was exposed and killed by a patrol of elves.

On the day before the solstice the area was swarming with elven patrols! About 27 elves, most of them carrying longbows were sighted. Our second infiltrator was exposed and killed by a patrol of elves.

On the solstice day about 84 elves were present at the site, with a heavy military presence of 43 elves wielding longbows, 14 also equipped with iron long swords. Our fourth infiltrator managed to light his bottle of oil and throw it at the elves! 10 elves were caught within the flames blast radius and caught on fire. Our fourth infiltrator was killed.

As the elves tried to get rid of the flames at their node, our 5 lizardmen warriors became aware of the signal.

Our 5 spearzards arrive and throw their bottles of oil at the flaming glade; the fireball rages consuming 35 more elves. The remaining elves run into all directions, unorganized and confused.

Our warriors throw their last salvo of oil botles; the elves, no longer clustered, are harder target; still about 16 elves are caught in flames.

Before our warrior draw their weapons, 61 of the 84 elves present were caught in the flames and were either cosumed by them or were struggling to put them off. 12 remaining elvish longbowmen remained combat worthy after the initial carnage

As our warriors draw their spears the fifth infiltrator leaves his hiding place amidst the raging fireball, piercing the hearth of an elvish archer that was taking aim at one of our warriors from behind.

The remaining longbowmen were unaware of our infiltrator and take shots against our warriors: our warriors duck down behind the trees, avoiding most of the shots. One of the arrows hit one of warriors in the left upper leg and he falls on the ground from the pain. Another arrow hit this same warrior on the back of his upper chest, piercing his left lung. He has trouble breathing. One arrow hits one of our warriors through the left eye, piercing his brain. He dies almost instantly.

Our remaining three standing warriors decide to charge and bridge the small distance between them and the elvish archers; one of them trip on the lizard who had been shot twice and tumble down amidst the flames, burning himself. Even ablaze still manages to throw a spear at one of the elves, but he miss. The second remaining lizard manages to get close enough to attack one of the elves with his spear; he pierces the elf guts and upper left leg. The elf faints from blood loss. The third remaining lizard jumps on top of three of the elves bringing them down into the blazing fuel. The four of them catch on fire. He bites off a chunk of one of the elves necks. The elf falls unconscious from trauma.

The fifth infiltrator let go of his spear as it got stuck in the ribcage of the dead elf; he gashes the neck of two elvish longbowmen at once with his claws. One of the elves faint from blood loss. The other elf draws and swing a longsword at our lizard, but he parries it with his buckler. The remaining longbowelves are now aware of his presence.

18 centaur warriors show up at the site of this fiery carnage; they start pelting the survivors elves with arrows, civilians and longbowelves indiscriminatelly. They put down 2 longbowelves, one with a shot in the neck, another with a shot in the guts.

The two elves tangled in a brawl ablaze faint from the heat.

There are 5 longbowelves still standing. They return fire at the centaurs;
two of them manage to hit the same exposed centaur; one shot ruptures a tendon in his left front leg, another shot hits him in the guts. The centaur fails to remain standing and tumbles into the flames, being set ablaze.

Our remaining 3 warriors and infiltrator charge at the 5 remaining longbowmen; two of the elves drop their bows and draw swords. Our warriors attack the swordselves with spears, but the elves deflect the blows with their swords.

The centaurs keep slaughtering the civilians. One elf wearing a red robe steps into the glade and casts a chain lightning spell! About a dozen centaurs are zapped, six fall to the ground paralysed. One of the centaurs react fast and shoots the elf in the guts. Two clearly female elves in green dresses drag him away.

The elves with swords attack our lizards; one of the elves manages to land a clean cut on one of our spearzards right arm, severing it below the elbow. Our spearzard reacts fast, tumbles towards the elf and bites the elf in the neck. They both fall in the flames. The elf faints from blood loss.

The three remaining elves with longbows try to run away but are killed by the centaurs.

Our 3 last spearlizards capture the last swordself. Crippled ones die from blood loss

The two surviving warriors and the last infiltrator capture five civilian elves. The fight subsides as the centaurs keep slaughtering fleeing elvish civilians.

The warriors take the prisoner's back home and report the results of the battle.

Two of the three surviving warriors suffered severe burns, but they will live.

We promptly dispatch our people to loot the dead elves corpses and equipments.
Most of the longbows and clothes were ruined by the flames, but we recover 14 exceptionally crafted iron long swords in prime condition. None of the elves were wearing armor.

We recover 73 corpses total, most of them partially carbonized. Those that are too burned to eat are given as sacrifice to the fire god. They should make good food for the winter. We were unable to locate the elf in red robes or the two females elves in green dresses.

We captured 1 swordself and 5 elvish civilians (2m/3f), they watch in horror as we prepare the meat of their fallen breathen, some of them vomitting and/or fainting at such sights.

The swordself refuses to talk to us even after we break a couple of his fingers; it's not until we menace one of the female elves that he starts to talk.
He calls himself "Galador"; he says he came from a settlement of about 25 elves called "Eneren", lead by the wizard "Oror", the elf in red robes we saw earlier. Their settlement was the smallest in the region and so they asked for help from another nearby settlement called "Oriamas", the largest in the region, of about 200 elves, led by a council of nine druids, two of which were seem dragging Oror away during the battle. Most longbowmen came from Oriamas. He seems to consider us evil monsters for killing his family, friends and most people he ever knew in life for no reason. Upon asked the way to Eneren he said why bother, everyone who lived there is dead; questioned further he says it's not far from the glade and without the enchantment shouldn't be hard to find. Upon asked the way to Oriamas he says it's no use for the settlement is enchanted. He's filled with murderous rage. He seems very loyal to his fellow elves. He doesn't seem to be lying. Should we kill him?

What now?
>specify
>>
>>44473597
We should go to Eneren and loot the place, since its empty.

anyway this 'Galador' doesn't seem very useful. We should sacrifice him to the Fire God. Or better yet, let the younglings eat him! It'll be much funnier to watch this proud warrior elf be slowly eaten by children!
Take the other elves back to base, see if they know any useful skills they might be able to teach out people. Maybe we can indoctrinate them.

Once all the looting is said and done, throw a big party with the Centaurs to celebrate our crushing victory over the elves.

But this isn't the end. The elves are going to want blood for this. We need to stay prepared encase of retaliation.
>>
Sacrifice him and any of the remaining male elves to the fire god. The females will be given to the centaurs if they want them for slaves.
>>

We send a group of 5 scavengers to look for and loot this "Eneren" place since it's devoid of life.
We have little trouble finding it, it's less than one hour away from the glade on foot and two large tree houses and a watchtower can be seen from a distance.

Upon closer examination besides those three construction's there are four more smaller treehouses.
The small tree houses are furnished with hammocks, chairs, chests and tables. Inside the chests there are some cooking utensils and some trinkets, mostly wooden and feathery. One has a silver dagger. They have lots of fruits inside, one of them have a pile of used clothes in one corner. Should we loot any of this stuff?

One of the larger treehouses have several barrels filled with some kind of beverage made out of honey and wild fruits; about a dozen barrels of rainwater; and a few dozen elvish clothes neatly folded in a large pile. Should we loot any of this stuff?

The other larger treehouse have a bookcase packed with books and scrolls, most of them written in sylvan, a few in human, dwarvish and draconic.
Should we loot this stuff?

A large wooden device is assembled in a corner, we determine it's purpose is to make noise once some parts of it are pressed. Maybe some sort of musical instrument? We're not sure how to disassemble it, we'd probably break it/ Should we loot it anyway?

There's also a large table with paper, black ink and several flasks with colorful liquid connected to each other in an intricated way. Moving it would probably break whatever it is. Should we loot it anyway?

Inside the watchtower above the treetops there are several birds nests, our scavengers promptly ate the few eggs there; a couple of mastefully crafted wooden longbows and two quivers filled with 25 fire hardened wooden arrows each. Should we loot this stuff?

There doesn't seems to be anything more particularly valuable or interesting.

What should we do next?

>>
Don't loot the instrument loot everything else.

Take the wood, dagger and clothes from the first house.

Take the barrels.

Take the scrolls, we can learn shit.

Take it, why not?

Take the bows and arrows.
>>
I think we can use it to ambush other elven forces by playing it loudly.
