Has a character of yours ever had a romance with an NPC? How did it go?
>>
Dwarven cavalry, last son of a lost clan. The GM was using down-season rules circa Pendragon, I ended up rolling a courtship. Jouri wedded a moneychanger's daughter, and lost her in the spring to a wasting fever.

Further proof the gods hate him.
>>
Yeah, when they were staying in some village out in nowhere over the winter in order to investigate and get rid of unidentified mysterious supernatural phenomenon. He shacked up with a villager. She was mostly just a convenient tool for communicating the village's attitude towards the group as the time went by and not much was accomplished. When the group left the village she stayed, no drama involved or anything. Never really had a character and NPC grow close outside of that.
>>
Me personally neverwith an NPC, always with other PCs (which is obviously somewhat out of scope) but I have played in games where it happened. Like, one of my character's best friend ended up marrying his cousin.

And it really varies but what it definitely does is give the GM more opportunities to fuck with your character.
>>
My Halfling Swashbuckler had a fling with a Dwarven innkeeper. It slowly developed into a more long-term thing, with her planning for them to get married once he strikes it rich so they can open a place together, and him being torn on giving up the sea & adventure for a woman he loves.
>>
>>44468908
Yes. Black Crusade witch. She ended up becoming a PC.
>>
>>44468908
Yep, cranky Mandalorian captain. Wound up marrying her and having three kids. It was the one good thing that happened to that character over about fifty years
>>

>Nat 20, got it in
>Nat 1 after we finished
>Told her all my dead Dwarven kin could have fucked better
>Later Nat 20 in dark tent with same female, Orc female, and Orc male
I'd say decent...

I want to hear more about this.

My character is currently in a complicated relationship with a powerful forest spirit, from which he had a daughter that is currently the motivation for his adventuring.

We're planning to reunite with the forest spirit and daughter this February, which is pretty exciting for me since I've never actually interacted with either of them outside of backstory.

I have, however, wound up bedding two barmaids at the same time and a maid for the noble we're serving, two of them are pregnant but we don't know that yet.
>>
>>44468908
Yes. We fell in love shortly before I was turned into a vampire. She helped me get away from sabbat shovelheads, that´s how we met. With her agreement, I made her my ghoul so we could be together forever (my character was a low generation Toreador) Miraculously, she fell pregnant, which we had to keep a secret, since it s a sign of the Gehenna and all.

One day, I managed to trigger my clan curse real bad and got super stuck in a nearby gallery. In the meantime, my "colleagues" (bunch of classless ventrues, who were all about quick buck and egomania) came looking for me. When they couldnt get into my haven, they, in their ludicrous stupidity, didnt know any better than to get in by force.

When they broke in, she reacted like anybody would. She took one of my guns from the safe and held them at the trigger, telling them to stand back. Unfortunately, Mr. Sterling, whose player was about as retarded as he was, thought it would be a good idea to use his celerity (he was already almost an ancilae, if you can believe that, and had a whole bunch of disciplines) to close the gap between them and punch her until she dropped.

His other colleague was a tiny bit brighter, and realised that basically killing my ghoul and her baby would have catastrophic results if the prince learns about it, so he persuaded Mr. Sterling to cover it all up, set my place on fire and dump my ghoul in a nearby park.

Continue?
>>
>>44468908
The last time I remember having a character in a romantic relationship with an NPC, he was involved with a pair of identical twins.

They were French mime women, and members of an underground Parisian resistance movement.

That was a weird game.

Well now I need to know if she (and the baby) survived, so sure.

It took a few days until anybody figured out what happened. A fellow toreador investigator (played by my crush at the time) used her Auspex to scan the ruins of my haven and learned everything. This information took was initially handled stealthily. She went to the sheneshal, who was the sire of Mr. Sterling, and pretty much prepared a massive shiststorm for him. I was the last to learn anything, as the primogen feared that I would flip out and murder Sterling (althoug my character was not a fighter, he was known for improvising some pretty deadly traps)

Eventually, all three of us were brought before the Seneshal, who told me everything. He offered to literally buy the head of Mr. Sterling, which in his opinion was my rightful property, with pretty much anything I wanted. My first request (after resisting frenzy for abotu the fifth time that day) was of course for her to be immediately returned. This is when we all learnt that Sterling dumped her in the park next to the local hospital.

At this point, the Seneshal basically fenzied. Later, the Toreador investigator was able to locate her. She was found by a henchman of the local Giovanni. They were very interested in the nature of her baby, and so they put much of their resources into nursing her to health and saving the baby.

At this point, my character was basically broken. The Seneshal basically gave me half of his city domain and a massive amount of money just so that I wouldnt go complain to the prince about the whole ordeal.

The prince probably knew, but, as we learnt later, was busy covering up the fact that he stealthily murdered one of the primogen council behind the scenes.

It was especially cruel for my character, because he was kept in the dark up until the point the Toreador investigator brought his sweetheart back.

Later in the story, I managed to eliminate Sterling. Not sure if anybody wants to know how. It wasnt too hard.
>>
I was playing a post-apocalypse campaign with some friends last year where I ended up in a romance. I played the standard gruff survivalist out to make ends meet. We had a handful of party NPCs that we enjoyed keeping around, one of which was essentially a wasteland ninja. My character and her ended up having a lot of chemistry so the DM started subtly pushing them together after I gave him the go ahead. It ended up working out in more ways than one. That amongst a few other things pushed my character into the role of unfortunate diplomat and leader. It hasn't happened since then but I did enjoy it.

>>
>>44468908
Sure yeah. We've been roleplaying for years. We've done it all. PC/PC, PC/NPC, setting up NPC/NPC, they've dated, they've flirted, they've married, they've divorced, they've adopted, they've had kids, they've lost kids or kids lost them, it's gone all over the place. It's just a natural part of whatever adventure we're up to. My latest PC didn't have a romance, but she did have a hell of a lot of tension with her superhuman superior, some older dude, one of her working pals, she had an ex-girl out there somewhere, though most of it was just platonic passion and devotion with her coworkers.

I actually played a character who was married before the game even started as a point of fact.
They were both pretty happy with the marriage despite it mostly being arranged beforehand, but they rarely got a chance to see each other because both of their duties involved traveling a lot.
>>
>>44470448
You're the one that equated romance with ERPs dumbass
Romance does not imply rolling to see if you can fuck the barmaid, in fact I'd argue rolling to fuck a barmaid excludes romance
>>

As far as I am concerned, Edward is a very confused changeling, or a Malkavian elder with a three page long list of derrangements and ludicrous Dementation levels.
>>
>>44468908
A few times.

In the first major homebrew game I played, my character ended up marrying a major local fire goddess and having a daughter with her. She took the form of a kitsune, since spirits tend to take the form of whatever animal the local culture considers most related to said element, in this case a fox. They're both effectively immortal, and have made tiny cameos in campaigns set further down the timeline in that reality,

In the Exalted game I'm currently playing in, my Zenith pirate queen got involved with the groups Moonshadow that was pretending to be an Eclipse. They're happily in love with each other, and are putting their mutual social prowess to work to take control of the West.
>>
>>44470545
I don't do DMPCs, unless you count every single NPC I have. I always open up a slot in the party to bring along any one NPC of their choice if they need them for something, but that's always optional and the players love to have a guest star or two along to see get into trouble. If they meet NPCs in the wild, no matter their power, if they're neutral or allies they're going to be sideliners with support magic at best.

What is a MVPC?
>>
>>44470559
Worst book/movies ever.

And that is a well defended title.
>>
That feel when you have a true love Merit in VtM, and the GM decides to get his friend to play your sweetheart. And the friend is m o r b i d l y o b e s e
>>
>>44470547
Kinda?
The marriage was arranged for semi-politicial reasons (and both wanted to just get married so they wouldn't have to deal with it anymore), but both if what they do involve a great deal of travel and study so they're hardly living and working together since they don't even study the same kind of subjects.
She was more powerful then he was to an almost absurd degree. We had to limit her appearances in the game because she massively unbalanced conflicts in our favor to the point of being actually not fun anymore for us.

They were actually pretty fond of each other as people though and genuinely trusted each other; they were just both very practical people so in a lot of ways their marriage was more one of function then of romance.

It's a bit cheesy to be frank, but it ended up between a Night Lord and a Chaos witch. The witch started out as an escort mission, but ended up developing into a bigger character. The Night Lord was falling down the same abyss as Curze and most of the Legion, becoming obsessed with the idea of using terror to control, only to degenerate into terror for terror's sake and thus losing all purpose in life, ending up in a nihilistic outlook towards his own life. Corruption getting dangerous, and his sense of self preservation deteriorating. Her escort mission to a Black Legion Chaos Lord to be used as a scryer gave him a bit more purpose in life, and he ended up getting shanked by a Nurglite plague blade which infected him with a cocktail of horrible infections. She stayed by his bedside and used biomancy to fight the infection, ultimately curing and saving the Chaos Space Marine's life, but nearly killing her in the process as she went a week without food or drink and subsisted on warp energies.

The party decided to screw the the mission and keep her on as a medic. The Black Legionaire didn't take kindly to this however, and eventually caught up with our ship, boarded, and took his bounty.

My Night Lord went full fucking batman at that point and rallied the rest of the party to board the enemy vessel to get the medic back, although his motive at the time was mostly due to the concept of a blood debt. Some points were burned as the group shot their way through some Veterans of the Long War, then they cornered the Black Legion Chaos Lord on the bridge with the psyker. My Night Lord challenged him to a duel, but ended up getting his ass kicked in the process thanks to wearing power armor against a guy with a dark halo and terminator armor.

But then the witch struck again and dropped the Chaos Lord's shield with a shitload of biomancy powers, and I burned an Infamy Point to embed a lightning claw in the asshole's face.
>>
>>44471548
'Cont'd

Not too much to note after the main meetup with the witch NPC, but she tried flirting with the Night Lord sometimes between missions with him being largely oblivious, but eventually the two bonded with the Night Lord bonding mainly because she gave him a reason to come back with his head attached to his shoulders.

I guess though she'd occupy a place between an NPC and a DM PC- she wasn't a real PC, but she was more fluffed out than the hordes of NPC's controlled by the DM on our Cobra.

Well I guess I had a seventh sea character who was running from his depressing marital situation while still trying to support his wife. He eventually got vamped and went back and tried to care for her which involved him killing those who took her in after his death out of jealousy. I'm not sure *why* we played out that session, but it was one of the most awful roleplaying experiences I've had in a long time.
>>
I related this in an old thread about characters' first kiss. My paladin's first kiss was from the chieftess of a tribe barbarians who guarded the frozen north. The kiss came at the end of a dual between the two to see if he would be allowed to wield a magical blade belonging to the tribe's fore-bearers. After losing her spear and tackling him to the ground she kissed him and declared him her consort, after which he was hauled off to her quarters to spend the night with her. She's the first woman he's met who's more physically imposing than him and since he was a bit of a bumpkin before becoming a paladin he had no real clue what being a consort entailed. They were only able to spend a few days together before our group had to travel south to gain the support of another group of warriors but she was leading her people to his homeland to aid them in a war effort when they parted. When we next get back to that game there's a good chance she'll be there when the party is magically teleported back to their homeland. He's not sure how he feels about her, she's a beautiful, powerful woman and he certainly enjoyed their time together but he doesn't know if their duties and obligations will allow them to be together as he would like. Deep down he's also concerned that it might be a political maneuver to help get her tribe recognized as a true order of knights. My paladin is also hoping to get his eldest sister married off to a knight he was able to convince to join their war effort, his motive being that if he should ever fall there will still be someone to look after his other siblings.

Our sixty year old wizard is currently spaghetti-ing hardcore over this one older seeress. Very May-December, though, as she's at least 1000 years older than him.
They met at a forum on ancient mysticism, and became sort-of "study buddies," with him going to her whenever he ran into some ancient scribble that he couldn't decipher. She's taught him several old languages, some Darkness magic, and a few tricks to ease artifact creation.
She finds his recent shift from colleague to stuttering schoolboy actually amusing, and the party in general very interesting, considering them to be capable of changing fate itself, possibly(In other words, being PCs).
His face when he finds out her real name is Manah Razz, a name he knows and fears, should be fucking priceless.
Anima fags should recognize that name easily enough. She's in Those Who Walked.

Had a long and convoluted romance during a Dark Heresy game between my psyker and another one from a different inquisitorial retinue. Went back and forth for ages, saving the Galaxy, serving the Emperor, all the good stuff. Game went all the way up to Ascension level stuff. Finally got enough clout/power/favors to actually get officially released from the retinue (more like just got my own less dangerous assignment). Planning to retire character by getting him married to the girl, who he literally faced the worst the warp could throw at the party just to get back to. Get all ready for the moment, find her, propose to her. She says "I really love you so yes, but I want it to be an open marriage with this younger arbite from my group cause I'm in love with him too."
Psyker just said fuck that, and went back to the library he'd been working in when the game started.

Like I said, the DM is a friend, but that was the closest I'd ever come to seriously getting angry over a game.

One of my players romanced an NPC once.
3.5 DnD, I put a diviner in my game as a plot point and decided to make her borderline retarded with social anxiety when it came to anything but providing fortune telling services.
Our asshole mage who kept getting into the stupidest situations decided that he liked her and proceeded to pursue an awkward romance where he eventually broke past her fear and complete inability to connect with other people and became the first and only person that she trusted or cared about.

Eventually he became a lich and mind controlled her and their children, then took them and fucked off to live on a floating island for thousands of years while they all died because they were mortal.
>>
>>44468908
My character hit it off with one of the court wizards while she was assigned to guard the palace library. Since she was stationed right outside his office anyway, they kind of got to talking, and even after she was reassigned elsewhere she would still drop by when her shift was over.

He was assassinated before any actual development could happen because the DM wanted to incite drama, but as it turns out, blew his narrative load way too early for it to have any real impact.

He basically does this with every NPC the party tries to connect with, and then he wonders why people started just playing murderhobos.
>>
>>44473684
Yeah, basically.
He'd been through a lot of shit, was old and tired. Sure, he could have stayed in and if the inquis had asked or ordered him, he would have (assuming she wasn't busy getting knocked up by the party guardsman - the DM was big on party relationships). But mostly he was tired, feeling betrayed and just done with it all. Honestly, if I really cared to take it further, and his other character trait hadn't been an absolutely unshakable faith in the Emperor (part of why the inquisition trusted him enough to give him a long leash), it would have been a nice twist to have the whole thing flip him over to chaos.
>>
My Rogue Trader had a long term relationship, as in it was part of the story since character creation, with the NPC first mate (she was the one who took care of the ship and all that shit when we were off gallivanting).

It wasn't out in the open much, when they were on the clock it seemed like they were just a very good command team, but off the clock she was the only one he was close to in any real way. They were very private about it, but it was there.

She was a former officer of Battlefleet Calixis. During a patrol her ship was overwhelmed by pirates and she was the only survivor, having been badly wounded and knocked unconcious in the boarding action and forgotten about under a pile of bodies.

My RT responded to the salvation beacon and found her, nursed her back to health and they fell in love. She was reported dead with the rest of the crew, adopted a new name and became his first officer.

That was the only time my PC had a stable, healthy relationship. Hell they were going to have kids until..well until he died in a last stand with the arch militant protecting a bomb they used to destroy a planet that was slowly becoming a daemon world (its complicated)

the epilogue revealed she was pregnant and that the future of his Dynasty was safe after all.

Most Valuable Player Character.
>>
>>44468908
Yes. My current cleric character in a 3.5 campaign has a relationship with a female goliath fighter named Bertha that he picked up at a tavern. He probably would have been rejected by her with his poor dice roll and normal sized drink he offered but his barbarian buddy wing manned him and slammed a barrel of beer on the table for her to drink giving him a thumbs up.

The other party members had gotten companions for a night but we ended up convincing some to stay in our castle while we're on adventures. For the most part she's just been living at the castle as a cook and a guard with the other girls. The other two girls are a lvl 6 rogue and a librarian NPC.

Bertha hates both of them. She hates the librarian because she is constantly talking about books. And she hates the rogue because one of our members made her leader of the guard. Bertha knows the rogue's inferior and unfit for the job and hates taking orders from her but does so reluctantly.

For some reason the DM thought she was illiterate like a barbarian or forgot she could read later in the campaign. Last time she saw my character she was pretty peeved because he was gone for months and she couldn't read the letter he wrote her and she'd be damned to ask the girl who doesn't shut up about books reading her personal business. The next letter he writes will include poorly drawn pictures of the party's actions while they were away in case she didn't take his advice to ask the librarian to teach her how to read.

He met her when he was level 5 and the random roll had her generated as a level 17 character. My character's currently at 14 so she's still a little stronger. Considering how our DM doesn't allow level adjustment buy out, I've been wondering if she's actually more leveled up than she already is. If that's the case she would have been a ECL 34 when he first met her at level 5. Makes me wonder what she saw in him to stick around for so long.

To answer your question though OP, yes. Between adventures, we'd stop back at the home of one of the player characters, where his mother and sister lived.

My bard did the usual bard thing with the sister, but ended up genuinely becoming romantically interested in the sister.

Eventually sister joins the group as an NPC ally, they had a fade to black, and after the campaign settled down together. A few campaigns with the same group later, and I'm playing his and her kid, a ditzy wizard girl. 's fun stuff.

>Eventually propose to her there, give her a fancy shiny ring I bought with my adventuring money
>Happily married with merchant girl, still going on adventures.
>All of them still thank us from saving them from a life of slavery, but they're the ones that managed to give us a greater purpose.

I played a Prostitute once, who ended up getting some extra money from some fade to black scenarios, and then got involved in a lesbian romance with a fellow PCs.

I'm Bi, the other dude claimed to be straight, but I don't know what his excuse was cuz that whole thing was gay as fuck. We kept it tasteful at the table, though there was some 1 on 1 stuff online.

Oh I know. It's a shame he's in denial about it he was adorable.

Oh also playing a common settler game, my character has a few orc spouses. We sort of captured a ton of them by accident, and out of necessity banded together to survive. I think at least part of the reason they ended up accepting things even if they don't care to admit, is we take care of things better than their tribe used to.

Kind of a weird game situation, and the only time I've actually roleplayed in detail a serious relationship for a character, at the DM's recommendation. If nothing else, it puts a good bit of meat on the game's bones in having to try and manage an odd family situation like this. The other players are dealing with similar issues.

Not mine, but one of my current party mates had one

>character is a Goliath Fighter manwhore
>generally rolls terribly on flirting but never stops trying
>eventually ends up bedding an elf in some village
>nat 20s on CON check, but so does the elf
>eventually leaves to continue adventures
>lucks out in some other village with another woman
>returns to first village many sessions later
>lots of townsfolk look at him with contempt
>party cleric rolls high enough on insight to understand what's going on, Goliath does not
>eventually have to deal with a horde of hellhounds in the middle of the night
>everyone is gathered outside of town as it burns
>Goliath finds his old flame
>only then, after more or less saving the village, finds out she's pregnant
>player abandons the Goliath character to raise his half elf son, rolls new character

The night he found out about the pregnancy was probably the best night I've had in all my years of D&D.

I hate to disappoint you, but the context here involves one player making a joke about having his sorceress fuck the cleric's NPC son. (Who is a strapping young man, sorry /tv/)

My 5e wizard bonded with his wizard mentor waifu over the fact that, as fellow wizards, neither of them have a sense of right and wrong and both enjoy using magic to be total dicks. The whole romance thing was actually the DM's idea, he kind of hinted that she liked me over the late stages of the campaign and I finally went with it in the last session because it made sense and it made for a good epilogue.

Krogan soldier. Asari engineer. In hindsight, he never quite caught on to all her flirtation thanks to his own stunted ideas of how such things are handled. If it didn't involve guns, he wasn't very good at it. Plus, he had a lot of baggage after his first wife's death and his missing daughter. But they sort of... just made it work. Things only got serious after all our NPCs were nearly killed because we didn't leave anyone to guard the ship. It was entirely our own fault and we should have seen it coming. The attitude shifted tangibly after that session and their weird romance picked up steam. They're still together, as far as I'm concerned.

Was an aspiring monarch and decent artificer posing as a mage of great power. Met an actual mage of great power, who was fascinated by the illusion of capability my character exuded, and through inadvertently being saved on several occasions, the aforementioned mage was wooed. The illusion was preserved right up until my character hastily abandoned her, thoroughly uncomfortable with the idea of someone feeling genuine affection for them.

There was a kind of budding affection between my Fey Warlock that used to be an assassin and his adorable sprite, but that only culminated in spending a lovely night together in the Feywilds to act out fairytales and play around in childlike wonder of the world, permitted and made possible by his Fey Patron. So, no actual romance, this is the closest.

Once had my character in DH accidentally flirt with the ships navigator while the party was being ferried to the objective. And by "accidentally flirted", I mean "critical a blather role and amused her". Played as a reptilian paladin who worshipped pelor and tried to keep his morals in check all the time.

DM wanted to kill me off in game to kick me out of group so he sent the group on a quest to some village that hated reptilians. They kidnap us one night and try to burn us at the stake. I fail my morality roll and go insane, breaking free and slaughtering all I could get my hands on.

The group burns at the stake while I round up the rest of the villagers and ritually begin to rape and slaughter the rest. Because of the way I did things, I summon the elder succubus that was bound beneath the village. So impressed with my work, she offers me a place in her new coterie and we make love on the pile of bloody corpses.

Not my PC, unfortunately. Our GM is currently running a campaign where the party's best fighter has a vampiress (Japanese-style, basically shorthand for 'magical being') in a urban fantasy campaign crushing on him.

It's really fun, because she's an actual Princess and noblewoman. So she's not 'all over him' as much as she's flirting with him and subtly trolling him at the same time. It all started because she kissed him as a reward for rescuing her from assassins, and after that became quite attached to him. That's how she got the party seconded to them as her liaison with the government agency they all work for.

It's probably something you need to be there to fully appreciate, but it's hilarious. There's the time she needed an escort when she was visiting...A theme park, so she was basically asking him to be her date, and they took photos together and otherwise did all the 'couple' stuff. It was especially funny when somehow who recognized her saw them, and he had to literally scoop her up in his arms and run off while she cooed that he was "So daring~!"

The fun started when her sister got into it. She was a little jealous: not romantically jealous, but jealous in "Wow, my sister is really working on this guy, and she seems to be having a lot of fun. I wonder if...?"

When they were traveling by armored limousine, the vampiress's sister asked him to sit him with her. They passed the first few moments in awkward silence with the girl not-so-subtly sizing him up, then she promptly opened up the conversation with:

> "...So, you're the one who kissed my sister."

(One of the players actually shot Coke out his nose at this point.)

When the PC was trying to deny it, she giggled and went "You're cute when you're flustered, you know." while resting a hand on his knee, and leaning close so she could whisper into his ear. Then she added:

> "Still, I'm really curious. I wonder what she sees in you?"

Of course, when the car hit a bump, she promptly went "Kyaaa!" and fell against him, then took her time getting up. At this point, she's basically tracing his chest with her fingers now. He's trying to do the right thing and go "Please return to your seat, Ma'am", when she settles herself on his lap with a "I don't feel like it. Besides, I'm safer here, r-i-g-h-t?"

I could go on, but those are the highlights so far. At this point, they're just fucking with him, and it's funny as hell, and pretty arousing too.

My wizard had a quirk page which specified that he was attracted by "muscular women" and "women of nobility". It was entirely meant for humor and in the first session a female NPC knight joined us. We were escorting a trading caravan, and the wagon a head of us had some pretty hot twins selling furs. Our fighter managed to have sex with them only to realize that they were doppelgangers after the fact when they tried to kill him in an assassination attempt. We now call him the Dopplebanger.

Depending on how things fall out, he might have fathered the apocalypse in his backstory.
Also, he married an NPC bard, gave her twins, and dropped out of the PC career to take up leading an army and possible future boss shenanigans.

Wouldn't call it a romance, per se, but I have a bit of a story along those lines.

>Online GURPS game
>Space Opera
>Playing the 3'6" space rat pilot of the ship
>Fancies himself a dashing hero
>More or less the party rogue
>Plot happens
>End up rescuing a space princess
>She's on the run from Evil Vizier #4098
>She wanders into the cockpit one night
>Point out the stars to her
>She worries she'll never see the stars of home again
>Promise her that we'll stop the Vizier and bring her home safe
>Because I'm AWESOME
>She blushes

>More plot happens
>Princess receives message from vizier
>If she surrenders, nothing bad will happen to her people
>Basically DARVOs the shit out of her
>Party tells him to get fucked, but princess is quiet
>Late that night
>Wake up when I hear a noise
>Find the princess trying to take a shuttlecraft
>Apparently wanted to surrender herself for the good of her people
>Point out that I made a promise
>A promise we'd kick this guy's ass and get her home safe
>Take her hand with my grimy little paw
>And I'm damn well going to keep it
>Because I'm AWESOME
>She blushes again

>Final climactic struggle
>Team is on the ground while I provide close air support
>Ship gets clipped by superweapon
>I bail, just barely survive the crash
>Neither the team nor the enemy know this
>Battle continues
>Princess gets captured
>Wounded Evil Lieutenant #6703440 is dragging her to his ship
>"Leaving so soon?"
>He turns around
>Sees a singed space rat
>Pulls the princess in front of him as a human shield
>"Why won't you bastards just DIE?" He snarls
>Reaches for his blaster
>Quick-Draw roll and aim for his face
>Success on both
>He drops to the ground, a sizzling hole in his head
>"Because..."
>Flourish my blaster pistol before holstering it
>"I'm AWESOME."
>Rest of party take down the vizier and his giant mecha
>Victory

>We meet back up
>Medals for everyone
>Princess gives me mine
>And gives me a kiss on the cheek
>Because I'm awesome, she whispers

I have to admit I did this once. I had two girls who were supposed to show up for a Vampire game I ran way back in the day. One was delayed, so it was just th eother girl and I in my dorm.

9/10 goth girl. Damn she was fucking amazing. We sat out on the quad talking and watching for hot girls (she was bi and had a high sex drive). Finally, the rest of the group shows up. Ran a steamy sex scene (she was a vampire and wanted to RP out the way she seduced him).

Midway into the game, she gets paged. Takes the call, comes back into the room, and is like "yeah this hot guy I know called asking for sex." She literally chants, "I'm gonna get laaaaiiid!" while bouncing happily.

We finish the game and they immediately leave. Right up to that call I'd been working up the courage to ask her out. Holy shit she was hot.

I never saw her again. Found out later through mutual friends she was a stripper. She later got into drugs, didn't age well, lost touch.

MFW.

But yeah I tried to use the in-game romance to spark something OOC. Never again. I was pretty awkward with girls in those days, but the only way to learn is to practice.
>>
>>44468908
I always interact "passively" with npcs but if they get flirty then I consider the relationship when I have something to gain besides getting my PCs dick wet.

Possible incentives to put time into this is if the NPC is particularly wealthy or influential. If not then I use them as a vehicle for extra sidequests. Depending on the GM they may target your waifu so theres extra exp from your team for the 1~2 times bowser kidnaps her in exchange for the occasional extra 5 min dialogue whenever you visit town.
>>
>>44483796
One time our warlock got "impregnated" with some evil spawn when failed to beat a demon. The player rolled a different character afterwards, and we ended up fighting a parasitic child living inside the previous character's body some time later.
>>
You say NPC, does that mean lacking independent decision making?
>>
>>44468908
The only romance in my old party was between PCs.

The DM had a nasty habit of introducing NPC romances but he also habitually murdered them in increasingly unpleasant ways to generate drama.

Eventually the party just stopped paying attention and he didn't seem to understand why.
>>
>>44468908
No. No one in my group either. Thank fuck for that.
>>
>>44480379
Aren't you supposed to look after loved ones? Ah well wouldn't be accidents if harm is intentional. Unless you're a spy. Stay away from my socks (no, really safety isn't guaranteed).
>>
In the campaign I'm DMing, I introduced an NPC family whose patriarch had been killed by the villain's henchmen. I never really described the rest of the family beyond what was needed for the quest they featured in, which is long finished. For some reason, one of my players has become infatuated with the grieving widow, to the extent that he's putting off quests and ditching the rest of the party to spend time with her. I don't know if I should be creeped out, or take it as a compliment of my storytelling skills.
>>
I guess lots of DMs kill family members off

>Party is a rogue and two fighters
>Bodies everywhere
>New player joins
>Rolls a rogue
>Party diversity is kind of screwed at this point
>Finish liberating town from dragon
>Two years pass
>DM goes on to tell one of our fighters that he got married and was about to have a child when a complication killed both the mother and the child
>says it's so that fighter will become a paladin, but needs to go through being a drunk first
>For the next 10 sessions party remains the same except for the addition of a bard and a cleric
>Fighter destined to be paladin dies (instadetath from DM)
>Has fighter meet family in heaven
>Fighter finds dragon god
>Dragon god revives him on the terms that he will be his paladin
>>
>>44486288
Killing off family members without a chance to save them is something I promised myself I would never do as a DM.

My old DM went down the list of his players one by one session after session destroying their entire backstory without anyone being able to save them, no matter how well you rolled or what you did he would always DM fiat into you just barely not being able to save them.

It's terrible watching a good DM go downhill so far.
>>
>>44486288
I mean "two years later" in game. If that wasn't clear
>>

In a game I'm running, a Half Elf Fighter walked into a bar and claimed he could take one of the guardswomen upstairs due to having a really high charisma. So I let him go up, the bartender magically soundproofed the room and fade to black. After rolling a d100 in secret, I determined that she might, in fact, be pregnant.

Due to circumstance however the entire town has disappeared. The party doesn't know where, but I've decided they've disappeared into the hands of our resident god of Greed. Since time flows faster on his plane, I can't wait to see what happens when the fighter finally gets the town back and comes face to face with his 20 year old son that he didn't even know he had.
>>
>>44486339
I've never killed off a family member of a PC (mostly because I've never had PCs make backstories with families involved and present enough to be affected), but I might have to kill one of my player's mothers soon.

>She is sick with some undetermined illness that keeps her bedridden.
>She's staying at a hospice where basically all they can do (since the PC can't afford high-level healing magic) is use restoration spells to keep her from getting worse.
>A huge plague-disease is about to hit the city and kill thousands of people.

I don't think there's gonna be much of a way for her to make it through that. I just have to find a way to make it serve a purpose.

Holy shit dude. If a player gets invested in an NPC, take that shit and RUN. It is incredibly hard to piece the cold dead heart of the modern murderhobo, so them actually getting intrigued and wanting to spend time with an NPC instead of assuming they just fade out of existence when their quest line is over is a great roleplaying experience.

If you're just constantly introducing characters only for them to come out, say their line, hand the party their reward then fade from existence. You're not roleplaying, you're playing an MMO. You've successfully gotten 10 of the rotted badger heads, and now its time to never interact with that NPC ever again unless some other fuck points you that way.
>>
>>44486910
I gave him a couple of follow-up quests involving his waifu and I'm trying to make her a more prominent character in the story by tying her into other plot lines. Problem is, I'm running out of sidequest ideas that can involve the rest of the party, and I'm concerned that they'll be getting bored.

Me and my group had gotten to a town with a worshipper of a some goddess of luck. My character had horrible luck so far ( I rolled a lot of ones) and he went to the priest and talk to them about how it seemed as if her god hated me. Now this became our hub town so I would see the character a lot. My PC began to get some better luck and followed the priest's teaching. When I got the chance for some banter I took it and started to romance the girl. She was not very respondent at first because of her duties and not having time for such things. Well the bard in my group loved this whole thing. For a few weeks while we went and fought a wizard as well, I and the bard would play music for her at night. She decides that she will give it a shot because of how I would clear my schedule for her she could try and worm some for me. After we killed the wizard I used my money to buy wine for me and her. She got knocked up and we got married. Kinda glad because it led to many funny moments from my socially awkward elf boy who was raised by animals. The bard had good jokes to go a long with it

My current one

Female combat pilot (me) - male combat pilot (NPC)
In the middle of a war when any sortie could be the last one and surrendering is a bad option, the NPC once had his parachuted strafed) there is a lot of stress and anxiety with a good dose of adrenaline from the constant dog-fighting and attack runs, sex seems like something mundane, I mean you can fuck several times but you only die once. But on the other side nothing says "I love you" like shooting directly to the cockpit of the plane that is chasing you
Despite been on different units we always try to flight together and what a great pair we are

Ran a game for my gf, she played a beautiful elven princess.

Over the course of the campaign, she performed magical genetic reingennering on the elven populations to make them even more beautiful and powerful and lead magical initiatives to surge the populations of cute fairys, lots and lots of nymphs, dryads, unicorns and other creatures she deemed pretty or cute.

She also set up churches in or near human population areas, promising a beautiful new life to any who worshiped her as a goddess, using magic to transform humans, especially women, into elves and then removing them from the human lands and placing them on a reservation so that she would stiffle the human population growth and gain worshippers.

However, for the evil races, she could not bring herself to risk her own beautiful creatures in war, so instead, she went to find the perfect person for it.

A deathknight, fallen paladin, who fell because he failed his absolute oath to defend his home and family. Since he could not die, she slowly began to seduce him, allowing his dead heart to yearn for the first time in hundreds of years for the possibility that someone would care and be able to fill his life with something other than despair.

she would call on him periodically to ask for his assistance with threats where she or her species seemed to be the victims, not bringing to his attention any matters where the opposite was true.

One romantic night, she got him to swear an oath to her that he would do everything he can to protect her. A little while later, she found an artifact, armor that would make someone an unkillable juggernaut for one battle, but then die after its conclusion.

So she buried the armor in a tome, summoned some creatures, and made a mini adventure for the death knight and her to go obtain the armor, so that he could have it, but also she could say "Please, never use this"

After that, she worked hard to lose battles without many losses to goad her true enemy, all the yucky evil orcs goblins, ogres and other creatures into one final battle, when they were to attack her capital. The Death knight was obviously there, and even though he asked her not to, she showed up to battle and pretended to "die" in full view of him, convincing him he had failed to protect her. So the death knight went enraged, put on the armor, and proceed to slaughter the enemies. She with drew her pretty forces so that they wouldn't have to fight, as she watched the death knight kill over and over.

Finally after the battle was over, she sent sages to tell him that there might be a way to ressurect her, if he was able to kill the orc species from the realm since then his battle would not be over yet.

And so, with her sages to guide him, he went and do so, only for her to miraculously be revived and the armor finally to fulfill its affect. As he died, he saw her ressurected, and finally was brought to peace.

she rewarded him by using one of her wish items to actually resurrect him, but only with some gaes in place, to ensure he always loved her.

Allright.

Those were the major highlights, but it was the little things. Like whenever she came to the human areas, she brought festivals. One of her favorite events was storytelling to children. Where she would tell stories of her wonderful fae like home, and if ever they wanted to visit, they could, most of them who choose to, never decided to come back, strangely enough... but then she would always say "Though I can't imagine why anyone would want to go back~"
The children would come and be absolutely enthralled by her. She gave them gifts, lots of gifts, especially the girls, who many of them would receive minor blessings, an enchantment ritual to give them small bonuses to charisma and luck. making them feel better, easing them into worshipping her since they got tangle benefits, luck and being prettier and people liking them more.

The churches themselves had heavy enchantments to make the humans love her. and with the final induction to elfhood, came a permenant gaes to be fully devoted to her and her laws.

she even had elvish pastries filled with delicious and addicting substances that smelled so good so people would come, so when local business failed because of food availabilty and listening to enchanting nymphs, they would spend more time at her church, spend more time being inducted, and then realize they have nothing left to go back to anyways.

kind of.

The elven god was irratated since she was drawing focus away from him, so he did the only thing he could to actually stop her. Promoted her. Now she is a goddess, lawful evil, has her own realm and everything, but is bound by the same rules other gods are, which is no direct interference.

Ages later, she is seen as a dark, fae like diety by the humans, but she has many many fae, elf, sylvan and human worshipers and is one of the more prominent deities in my ongoing game world. The orc and goblin genocide remained in affect though.

My dwarven fighter randomly starts hitting on a Valkyrie. DM makes me roll, fully expecting failure. That ANon was saying that his character might not have realised the woman was a navigator. 40k Navigators have a "third-eye" in their forehead that assists with long-distance space travel, but if a normal human looks at it straight they get mindfucked or paralysed, etc. So the Navigators usually wear a bandanna/headband to cover the eye so it doesn't mindfuck people who are friendly to them.

My character, whose name evoked over the course of the campaign and and currently is known as "2nd Major Blizzard the Sometimes Slizzard War Lizard: Poundtown King." Barbarian with an interesting style of fighting. Taught many a student in the art of war.

One student decides to join said barbarian and his group on their adventures. From there things sort of took off. We died together in the last act of the campaign, where the party finally nailed down the BBEG who had been damaging us since the beginning of said campaign. It was glorious, and I dont think I could ever ask for a better end.

On another note, we had this one guy who charmed an emperor class titan.

Yeah.

Things went really weird after that.
