Figured as much, given the blade and the fact that the hilt looks to be fucking plastic, but I was wondering more about whatever it might be based on. Supposedly its some kind of Vietnamese sword similar to the nagamaki.

They're probably referring to the Montagnard-style Dha. Pic related

Montaganard is a French term for various ethnic groups living in the mountains in various parts of Southeast Asia, the main area being between Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia, though you also see Thai and Burmese examples (all of them having their own regional influences).

Main one is http://histfenc.com/

Decent enough Longsword sparring gloves that are only huge, as opposed to SPES heavy gloves, which are HUUUUGE: http://sparringglove.com/

Mask and plastic chest protector (if you think one will be needed) can be picked up at any "normal fencing" store, I got mine from the local Allstar importer.

I've heard that this one's good: http://pbthistoricalfencing.com/products/#throat-protector

I'd never buy shoes without trying them on, so your local sports store for that. heavily built-up shos with lots of support and impact-absorbing soles... are probably not what we want here, since the footwork was designed for simpler things. I went with indoor football shoes.

>>44458044
As heavily decorated as it is, odds are that they started out with a good, solid and high-quality helmet to apply the decorations too, and their presence probably won't harm performance to nay greater degree, so such a helmet could be used to keep your skull intact, in war or tournament. War was no excuse for being unfashionable, you should always be dressed according to your station.

Pic is a tournament helmet, with some scars from use.

Looks like one of Cold Steel's specialized machetes. They make a galdius and kopis too. They're actually pretty durable and fun if you just want a cheap sword to beat the fuck out of shit with without feeling guilty.

>I've heard that this one's good: http://pbthistoricalfencing.com/products/#throat-protector

well, opinions are actually vary about that throat protector, some says it gets in the way too much

Although I can vouch for PBT stuff as generally good, got a 1600N fencing mask from there, the "beard" part protected me from several stabs so far without any problem

I have a pair for technique drills, saber and S&B. They do the job there, mostly. I wouldn't trust them for full speed longsword though. A bit light to begin with, and things like the gaps between the pads lining up over the knuckles (or just plain the gaps at the sides) could potentially get painful.

>>44462797
They certainly enjoyed their shock cavalry charge against the Swedes in the 17th century (and when that didn't win the day, well, then they had a problem) and at Vienna.

The schilts suggests that the swords are feders, and as such, could it be that we're not seeing scabbards, but simply the rounded edges of such?
>>
>>44463975
"Fünf personnen mit swertern in den schaidten vber die Achseln. Item die personen alle sollen die lobkrenntzle aufhaben." sounds like clear enough instructions to me.

There's five of them with sheathed swords on their shoulders and all of them do wear victory wreaths. And yes, those are feathers. They're part of the "Fencers" group.
Plus in the other cases, he explicitly ordered the artists to draw them to carrying the weapons unsheated.

Nah, they're generally getting ripped off by corruption to the point where they join local resistance movements, I think.

They're sword like objects, not swords. Tough and fun to beat with, but they're machetes through and through.

Cable-backed bows used by Inuits.

The cable allowed them to use shit-tier wood to make serviceable bows.

How interesting, I just read this in the Osprey book Sarmatians 600 BC- 450 AD. Heavy Polish scale armors were intended to emulate ancient Sarmatian armors, the idea being that while Western Europe claimed the Roman Empire as their descendants, the Polish claimed the Sarmatians as their supposed predecessors.

Inuits don't get enough credit in general. Spearheads cold-hammered from meteoric iron? All-leather suits of armor? Those funky ass visors to prevent snowblindness? Really shows human intuition and creativity pulled to the max.

Polish hussars are kewl.

Was imagining a fantasy setting where there were some non flying winged humanoids that looked like winged hussars. So real wings.
Thought it would be kewler.

I think they were sold to private collectors and I found the images on the page of the company that sold them. They're Moro armour from the Philippines. The lot should be from the 18th century earliest. They're kinda wierd globally as they stylistically seemed to belong the the Turco-Russian fold of armour design while being situated at the crossroads of China and Indio-Persia, in a region that apparently used to b big on Chinese-inspired dress before they switched to more SE-Asian cuts of clothes.

But then again, we also have examples of armour that resembles Dendra cuirass to a T from non-Han chinese people.

Have some tube&yoke-armour.
