Scarlet Heroes is a development of a brief, free Labyrinth Lord supplement that's meant for running single characters through classic D&D modules without having to adjust shit to account for there just being one or two dudes. It won't run the game for you - although Scarlet Heroes has a lot of helpful stuff, including some material on GMless play - but if you like D&D, it's excellent shit.

Also, pick up a set of Rory's Story Cubes in whichever variety appeals to you, they're great little randomisers. They're dice with symbols on all the sides, with base sets of 9 dice and mini-expansions with 3. If I came to an dead end in an adventure with dinosaurs, for instance, I might grab one or two dice from the Prehistorica mini-expansion... or just roll all three and get "erupting volcano," "some kind of swamp," and "triceratops." Well, shit, going to be hard to escape the eruption in this kind of terrain, especially if the dino's angry... but maybe it could be harnessed and/or ridden to safety? The main sets are less specific, with more general results themed around journeys or whatever. Except the licensed Batman and Moomin sets...

No, I don't have a PDF. They're physical dice. Excellent play-aids for solo games though.

Thank you so much for telling me! I bought it when it first came out, but for so long it was a bit clunky and just the core set. They didn't update it, so eventually I forgot to transfer it to a new phone. I'm glad they sorted it out. Pricing seems more than reasonable, although I'm probably buying more real dice soon.

Actually, on playing about it still has a few issues. Can't pick and choose which dice you get, and can't pick, say, three from clues and one from core. You can just adjust which sets are in and how many total dice, and it seems to default to the first three being from clues when I use both? Also, nit-picking, you can roll a single die as hard as you like but it'll never actually roll - they only change facing when they impact other dice.

It's still pretty OK, but not as big an improvement as I was hoping for. Back to the real dice, but I'll keep it on my phone just in case I need it.

Traveller 5 has a weapon creation system IIRC, but it's... just don't. Back in the olden days there was a system-neutral(?) thing called Guns Guns Guns or G3 that had all sorts of tables for coming up with custom guns. Do you mean realistic-ish firepower, or wacky SF shit like Borderlands, though? Just want a book full of guns with some customisation options, or something approaching GURPS 3e Vehicles territory?

I'm looking for a game I saw someone share on /tg/ some time ago.
Basically players would share control over a single person, and every player had a goal they needed to accomplish. It was mostly about accomplishing simple everyday task IIRC.

I've been reading Quick Start!! and I'm extremely depressed about the fact that there isn't a translation for it yet.

Are there any systems out there that are similar to it? High fantasy and sci-fi elements, very simple rolls and rules backed up by a complex character creation that doesn't go overboard into pathfinder levels? I have Double Cross, but I was hoping for something a little more level/class based as opposed to something that feels Call of Cthulhu-ish.

Get the core rulebook and read it well. CoC is very different from your typical combat oriented fantasy RPG so it requires a very different mindset. You really need to *get* the setting to be able to run a succesful game.

Tip: forced combat situations in CoC should be VERY rare. Adventures with lots of combat completely miss the point of the game. The game is not about fighting or combat so just don't do it.
