I think the sisters could be made into a really interesting army. As long as some changes are made, and they aren't just retarded female marines. They should just be turned into the private army of the ecclesiarchy, less focussed around the main two orders, and have different orders on every shrine world.

Nah, I would put money on the fact that management don't want to spend money on revitalising a line that won't sell as much as space marines because Sisters don't appeal to the core audience of 12-14 year old boys enough. They'll keep Sisters in the background just long enough to keep the IP in their mitts but no more.

Raging Heroes are coming out with Not-Sisters from their recent kickstarter soon. It could take a while, but probably not as long as waiting for official models will take. Unless GW are spiteful enough to do what they did to the Mycetic Spore and the other models that non-GW companies were making and remove them from the game completely to invalidate them.

I've only done two so far, and its not perfect, but I generally start by taking a Dark Eldar's torso and legs (female, of course), and shaving/filing all the spiky bits off.

I try to go for the legs with no loincloth or a loincloth without chains and other odd bits. The loincloths with spikes/teeth/whatever they are pinned through them can generally be filed down so it looks like they have scrolls pinned through them instead.

I then cut the Dark Eldar dagger from the back of the legs off and put something more Imperial from my bits box over the stump it leaves.

For the back-mounted power plant (or whatever its called), I take one of the Skitarii backpacks and cut off all the loose wires and the light so that it looks more like it would belong on an SoB.
Then, if I can, I cover up the dials and switches and whatnot with something that looks more Imperial but won't bulk out the shape too much. Generally this tends to be an insignia or an Inquisitorial sign of some sort.

For the weapon, I can't be certain yet, but in all likelihood I'll end up having to keep the Skitarii weapons because fiddling about with the arms too much might just lead to bits of the models falling off in future.

I can post one of my more successful prototypes if people want me to. Its a lot of work to get right, which is why this is only really practical for a few models, and not an army.

That and something that rather stuck with me from the books about SOB is Marines are individual warriors of great power. Sisters are a coordinated, well oiled machine that works together with precision that shocked the Marines watching that humans could manage it.

They had the various fireteams almost instinctively moving together to provide covering fire and bring the right weapons to bear against each target.

Really, just expanding on acts of faith to be larger or more frequent effects would help.

Like, make each unit generate faith points, and then spend them squad-by-squad for individual acts of faith specific to those units, or spend a larger number for a global one that affects all your units and makes them work better in tandem.

Actually, giving them some more stuff to work together might be enough. Say if they took the Bolter, Flamer, Melra thing and made it a tactics all combo, like firing one makes the next more effective against the same unit. Like firing your flamer on a squad can make your bolters ignore cover, or using a melta before a flamer will boost its AP.

If they can't get their hands on a bolter but there is an IG supply depot near by, then she's going to flashlight her way to victory.
Hell, the Sisters minis all have a small holstler at their waist, that contains a laspistol as an emergency back-up weapon. Rules wise, they don't exist but lore wise they do have them.

If a force of SoBs were caught without a supply line but had AM on hand, offering them supplies they'd take it.

Shrine world got fucked up a few centuries back and the Admech just happened to be in the neighborhood and Skitarii helped them purge some xenos and/or heretics before deciding, "hey this would be a great planet to build a brand new manufactorum." And the Sisters left over were cool with it out of gratitude and the Ecclesiarchy was like "we don't really want to rebuild that shit hole, but please let our Emperor-fearing shrines remain alongside your factories so the civilians don't suddenly have to fill their wardrobe with red robes." And the AdMech and Sisters built it up as this weird manufactorum/shrine world hybrid and the Sisters remain defenders of the planet/purgers of heresy as an auxiliary force of the main Skitarii military of the world, and get nice AdMech weapons from the alliance.

I remember playing a game in a big tourney where my store needed me to be the ringer. my first match was vs the guy who wins best overall most of the time.

Played some cheesy as shit death star unit... But he did not know what penitent engines did (or most of my sisters stuff for that matter) and made the mistake of charging his big deathstar unit forward and killing a blob of 20 sisters in a single turn.

But the thing about that blob? There were 6 fucking penitent engines behind it...

After my turn of heavy flamering his shit to bejesus and back i got to charge into combat with 6 fresh penitent engines... It was magnificent. That single round of combat is still talked about to this day at my store.

And the bitching and moaning about how OP Sisters are that guy was whining about for the rest of the day was music to my ears. He was a power gaming dickbag and noone enjoys playing him. To this day i will not make a SOB army of 1500 points or more with a squad of 3 penitent engines.

Or repentia for that matter. I ended up tabling that guy after his win botton got curb stomped... i had 2 squads of repentia running around and he figured they were Int 1 and only T3 so he would deal with them in CC...

The best way to tell what army is the most OP is to go to Adepticon and the nova open.

I remember over the years seeing 1/2 the armies there composed of... Bugzilla, Demon bomb, IG parking lots, Loota Spam ect ect. All over the years.

I stoped caring a few years back when the adepticon bits guy flat out cheated and won best overall in the team tourney.

I sat back in shock and just hung around his table while he pulled his bullshit and the judges gave 0 fucks.

That's why I prefer BAO/LVO/ITC over Adepticon and NOVA. I'm surprised it only took 2 years or so to completely overtake the two largest events in popularity.

ITC never felt as "official" or "prestigious" unlike, say, NOVA Invitational, but they know how to run a good event and they give the people what they want, and give players a voice.

Adepticon was not too bad in the days of 3rd and 4th.

But with the shift to 5th and TLOS, Wound allocation and just plain bad wirting in codex books it became bad.

There is always a bunch of different armies and types of people there. But if you want to have a good time your best bet is to loose your first game badly to tank your score.

I stoped playing 40k there for the most part. the 30k crowd is bro tier.

There is an "In" club with the 40k team tourney and champs. I wander around snaping pics and evesdrop on the top tables when i can to see lists and battle planes used. More then once i have overheard some of the big names such as tony kopech and his ilk talking the other guy into giving them a win because

Eh, I actually argue they help more than they hurt. Not only do some of them look nice, they cost a decent chunk of points.

Of course Fantasy's army building requirements hamstrung you from really taking them since you'd could only take 25 or 50% of the total game points worth in your army, after you had taken a Lord or Hero and spent at least 25% of your available points on Core, plus the extra points to allow your core to do something besides getting wrecked.

They literally had to change the Lords and Heros allow to 50% in the first End Times book, otherwise you'd only be able to field Nagash in games of 4000 points or more since he costs 1000.

I like their place in the fluff though. Elite warriors and bodyguards, fairly skilled even when comparing them to Space Marines, the unofficial military arm of the Ordo Hereticus....and honestly I feel like right now they could represent some other factions that don't get much love in 40k, like the Arbites. The Sisters were folded into the Hereticus for Codex: Witch Hunters as GW was wary of releasing another Marine dex and Sisters still hadn't gotten a codex, that killed two birds with one stone.

Since then GW has retconned Witch Hunters and now the Hereticus just has no army.

Honestly, it's the quality of the picture. Its primed black, painted Boltgun, highlighted mythril, washed with badab, and then touched up. The robes are mechrite, washed Baal, and highlighted with blood.

As an army no. As a unit yes. Rule wise Sydonian Dragoons are pretty bad but sells wise they are doing great. So if I look at tournament armies very few people will be using them but if I am playing a friendly game or looking at project blogs I will see these things everywhere.

St. Katherine's armour, what became St. Celestine's armour, was described as being gold and red in one source. Can't remember which.
That is the only description we have of what their potential colour scheme would have been.
Personally I imagine it was gold armour and white robes. The armour being repainted black but the robes left alone.

You can assemble an Immolator from the Exorcist, with the exception of the windshield. They've slowly been dropping things like this over the years. Assembly instructions, transfer sheets, etc.
