Armor bonus: Divide the armor bonus by 2, round to nearest whole. If its heavy armor add +1 to this result. Increase Max Dex Bonus by 2
Arcane Spell Failure: The arcane spell failure chance is reduced by 15%, as bikini armor is less restrictive
Armor check penalty: Reduce by one for light, two for medium, three for heavy
Donning: Donning light bikini armor takes 1 rounds, or move action to don hastily. Medium and heavy bikini armor takes 4 rounds to don, 2 rounds to don hastily.
Removing: All Bikini Armor can be removed as a move action.
Weight: The base armor’s weight is reduced to 1/5th of normal weight, but does not count as a lighter armor type.
Hit Points: Bikini Armor has one-fifth the hit points of the base armor.
Special:
Due to the nature of its construction, Bikini armor can be manipulated very easy. As such any Combat maneuver that effects the armor specifically (Sunder, disarm, steal) is subject to a +2 Circumstance bonus. In addition, Bikini armor has the Fragile Quality.

I'm tempted to set campaigns in environments like deserts, swamps, and tropical islands so that outfits like this become halfway practical. The PCs may find ways to cover up without any real penalty, but the King's Guard wear only loincloths not just to show off their perfect physiques but also because it's the only way to avoid heat stroke on a 12-hour vigil of the royal estate. Scouts patrol the mire barefoot because they know there is no boot in existence that won't be soiled by the muck, silt getting in and rubbing their skin raw. Dragonborn and lizardfolk spurning armor because they know only steel is better protection than their own scales, and they also know steel will turn hot enough to sear flesh under the noonday Sun.

It still seems like loose fitting but covered clothing would be better than a bikini in most instances.

In a desert to stave off sunburn at least and to my knowledge the desert doesn't retain heat that easily during the night so at least having something which can be moderately warm in a pinch could be useful if you plan on not wandering the desert only during the day.
You'll also heat up less quickly if you wear loose clothing as opposed to just wearing nothing.
Fabric can also be white which is decent at reflecting light.
I have no idea about tropical areas and swamps though. The high humidity is going to mess you up just because you can't actually ever sweat with success, so I don't know how much worse loose clothing will be than just naked skin.
It might be half decent at keeping away bugs though.

Something approaching uncovered plate or mail would be totally fucked though because the heat capacity of those is very low and in the case of moisture it's going to quickly accumulate it. It's also not the best at ventilation either.

The ancient Egyptians and their contemporaries went mostly naked in the Sahara. As do many African tribes.

Yes it is a good idea to cover up in a sandstorm, but not all deserts are sandstorms 24/7. It's perfectly feasible to wear almost nothing in a hot dry environment provided you are used to it. The fact that middle easterners all cover up today has more to do with culture than anything else.

Australian aborigines also routinely went naked in one of the worst deserts known to man.

We as a civilization wear clothes because we were raised being taught that you have to wear clothes, and as a result our bodies became used to clothes and never developed protection against hostile environments.

Because clothes were created by the same civilizations that managed to conquer the world, they became associated with modernity, and many civilizations who had previously been totally fine being naked, suddenly wanted to dress up like the people who were ruling over them. Eventually their children grew up having never walked around naked and kept their soft skin.

Now, in places like a jungle (or a beach) no amount of civilization is going to make wearing heavy wet clothes a good idea. In those parts of the world people continue to wear a minimum of clothing, only swimsuits and athletic wear remain capable of withstanding the elements (and even then you could just as easily go naked if you weren't so obsessed with looking "civilized")
As a result, we associate nudity with heat and humidity, and think clothing is necessary everywhere else, but really, the only places where it is absolutely necessary is extreme cold. Even then the Celts were just find running around naked on the frosty moors.

The only real explanation you need for bikini armor, is just that the successful empires which everyone compares themselves against happened to not be from somewhere with a cold climate, and never had any sort of religion which considered nudity to be taboo. If those people walk around half naked, then people will associate nudity with civilization. If their warriors fight in metal bikinis, then people will associate metal bikinis with being a warrior.

Guess who used to live in those muddy English countrysides.

Modern clothes-wearers are just too soft and prudish. I think the Arctic is just about the only place people haven't historically ran around naked in at some point. I blame Christianity/Islam for telling people that they are going to hell if they don't cover up. Before that, even the civilizations that did wear clothes regularly, had no problem with nudity in practice.
>>
>>44305213
I can see the logic behind it. Those white guys with guns wear shoes. They always seem to win.

It's incorrect of course, but shit like that is a lot of the reason we think you have to wear clothes. History's winners co-incidentally wore clothes, so people think dressing like them will make you like them.

Of course the real reasons had more to do with Smallpox, advanced technology, the organization that comes from having a written language and a religion that tells you that you are supposed to conquer the world and force everyone to dress like you. But those are harder to explain.

You can even have the same dynamics as regular clothing.

The fussy rich caster is afraid of getting her lace all muddy, she spent a lot of money on it. The Barbarian laughs at this and tells her that she must have gotten ripped off paying that much for clothing that fragile.

The PCs won't be allowed into court unless they are wearing at least 1000gp of body jewelry, and if they wear the wrong kind of nipple ring, people won't take them seriously.

After the PCs save the village, more and more kids start wanting to wear bikinis instead of sarongs. The former looking more heroic and less pesanty. Particularly for women, a bikini top means they can be more active without having to deal with bounce.

We have actual historical evidence of what the Celts wore for everyday clothing, tunics, trousers, and cloaks, dating back to at least the Roman Republic era with limited examples of clothing from pre-Roman contact.

A bunch of factors come into play regarding what clothes were worn. In my area, the local native tribes wore breechclothes, pants, skirts, blouses, and moccasins. Going nude might work during the warm months when you're staying in a settlement, but a terrible idea when you're moving through underbrush full of biting insects.

It depends on who's drawing him. He wore actual armor more often than not in the books. But at any rate, if the pop culture image of Conan is a man in a loincloth, than Red Sonja is equivalent.

People were more relaxed about fantasy nudity in the 70s. It was really the 80s that fucked everything up. Aids epidemic killed the sexual revolution, and the satanic panic made fantasy all self conscious. Bikini armor didn't go away, but it made it the domain of lonely nerds, you wouldn't airbrush it on the side of a van anymore.

We have some evidence of armor dating back to the La Tene era. It was exclusive to nobility, but it was there; commoners fought unarmored.

And I'd totally brush a fantasy nude on the side of a van. I'd also make an argument that a bigger reason was that fantasy was a recurring theme in 70s and early 80s rock, but disappeared by the mid-80s with the rise of hair metal.

AIDs didn't lead to the development of antibiotic-resistant STDs. There's also still herpes and genital warts. The sexual revolution, like a lot of things from the 60s, was already burning out by the late 70s. You're always going to see a moderation or backlash when the first group of people mature and reflect and reconsider what they did. It's why the wild groupie scene of the 70s and 80s died out, everyone had kids and wouldn't let them be as stupid as they were.

Yes, but Aids in particular is specifically horrific because of the stigma it causes, and the fact that it's completely fatal. You 'survive' aids by dying of something else first, and you carry it for your entire life. Not only does it make people have sex less, it also makes them less trusting. It's the perfect disease for conservatism. You avoid it by never having any fun, and making sure nobody else has any fun either. Any STD will have this effect to a lesser extent, but Aids is the worst.

Yeah, they probably thought of their "cool" parents as deadbeat losers with a bleeding heart. The quest for a generation deciding to forge their own identity can have people come up with some pretty shallow ideals.

A lot of the things we think of awesome in this generation will be viewed as cringeworthy by our children and they will decide that they are gonna "fix" whatever we have created.

Sure, but every generation wants to make a cool thing their own. There are notorious classics like Shakespeare that wont be going anywhere anytime soon.

Nostalgia waves like the neo 80's thing are typically not an accurate representation of a time period either. It's what people like to pretend the 80's was.

The reason sex disappeared from (a specific segment of) fantasy gaming is that it became mainstream enough that people distilled it all into boring fantasy goop that could be marketed to kids.
Do you think it's a coincidence that D&D players are such a bunch of talibans who like to cry magical realm at everything?
They've grown up with games based on books based on games that needed to be child safe.
If you look at fantasy literature it's sexier than ever, same goes for rpgs that are popular outside the united states.

This is just another one of those things that people think is an all-encompassing phenomena because the only fantasy they've been in touch with for the last fifteen years had "wizards of the coast" on it.
>>
My favorite idea is when a character or characters from a generic dull western fantasy area end up somewhere where the standard is swimsuit armor, and skimpy casual outfits. Seeing them change and adapt is the cutest part.
>>
>>44307560
>Adapting.
>Not sticking to functional, all-covering armour, conquering the loincloth barbarians and stealing all their bikini amazons.

Pleb.
>>
>>44307502
The thing is though, in the 70s you could get away with a lot of sexual stuff and still be relatively mainstream. And that's still true in parts of Europe/japan. I do in fact prefer fantasy that dosn't have "wizards of the cost" on it, I'm complaining that wizards of the coast doesn't have more tits.

I don't want my culture to be a sub culture which needs to hide from normies, I want my culture to exert external force and make normies like the things I like, not the other way around.
Some people say that normies liking things will dumb it down, but that only happens if your culture is unable to exert external force. Don't dumb yourselves down for mass consumption, make the masses rise to your level. If this weren't possible culture would never be able to change. I want t win the culture wars, not hide from them.

Get a load of this faggot. Implying the bikini amazons want to fuck a tin can.

>"I like big tits"

You're one of the good guys, Anon.

The shit that really annoys me with these subgroups are tits vs ass vs hips people that thinks you gotta pick one.

A scholar and a saint.
>>
>>44307902
I was mostly saying that wanting to sexualize DnD because you like it that way was the same thing.
>>
>>44307926
Not him, but I'm under the opinion that DnDat this point doesn't have to be presented in just one way.
>>
One of the best things about being a GM is that you know that all the elves are in bikini armor, and no one can tell you otherwise.
>image limit reached
Should we have another thread? I have Sonja to share.
>>
>>44307981
Not any of those guys, but no shit. It's collaborative storytelling, and by definition this shit is different for every group, every campaign. All the That Guys of the world have no problem sexing up DnD, even when nobody at the table wants it to happen. Most normal groups acknowledge Sword & Sorcery tropes, and many base campaigns around them. I did so, myself, with a togue in cheek Conan campaign. It was fun. And we did have a blonde slut characters acting like a dominatrix. Not the best character, but perfectly suited for the world and the game's tone. We also had two Barbarians constantly trying to upstage one another and getting into antics like "Barbarian first aid", because neither had ranks in Heal, but they still insisted on helping each other after the inevitable incurring of wounds. For the record, "Barbarian first aid" is punching the wounds until they go away.

Just make a thread on /aco/
>>
>>44308077
I've got some stuff to dump if we get another thread rolling.
>>
>>44308077
Sure, just remember to link to this thread.
>>
>>44307981
You can do whatever you want with your own group, but overtly sexualizing the base DnD just for the sake of it just takes away from the quality of the game in general.
>>
Really, bikini armor has never done anything for me. Its not arousing, or cool looking, and never well done. Its especially not distracting or intimidating.
>>
>>44308077
Yes

>>44308133
Cheesecake =/= porn anon, and besides, character art is always welcome on /tg/
>>
>>44308133
Why not both?
>>
A thread on /aco/ would allow us to post more stuff that we couldn't post here.
>>
>>44308421
Maybe some of us don't want to visit /aco/.

Myself not included

>>44308133
>>44308421
>finally a good thread with mature discussion about an old Fantasy trope
>HUR DUR TAKE IT TO THE PORN BOARD

How about you fuck off, Anon?
>>
>>44308502
Hey, I'm just sayin there is more bikini armor pictures that I can't post here. I wish I could keep it in /tg/ but I don't make the rules.

I'm not saying "Take it to the porn board." I'm saying "Lets continue what we are doing somewhere we won't get in trouble for it."
>>
>>44308570
Linking NSFW stuff is always okay by the rules
Plus /aco/ doesn't have a large population of fa/tg/uys to talk about fantasy tropes with a thread here will attract more of them for the discussion
>>
>>44308421
But then we will just get someone posting shitty western porn or futa in them.
>>
>>44308648
>Linking NSFW stuff is always okay by the rules
And I fuck up my post again

What I meant is
>Linking on topic NSFW stuff is always okay by the rules
>>
>>44308671
>>44308648
These are good points, I concede.
>>
>>44307673
If you want to 'win the culture wars', then do something about it rather than complaining on the internet about your lack of cultural utopia.
>>
>>44308570
Don't police yourself because some mods are autists. /tg/ is the best place for Fantasy discussion, and the chainmail bikini trope is part of Fantasy. There will be no discussion in /aco/, just empty, joyless porn-posting.

Personally, I really dislike the rigid, self-imposed "standards" people like to keep boards to. Especially considering all the SHIT that gets a free pass. I mean, take CYOA threads. Fuck that shit. Nothing /tg/ about them, take it to /b/, it might make the place more interesting. Couple that with a puritan attitude that's afraid of everything that they think is porn, and you've got shit moderating.

A population that does not feel like they can opnly talk about the stuff they're here to talk about will not provide meaningful content. And for every thread they don't make, there will be another caster spremacy bait thread, or another "think of your last character" thread.

This sort of bullshit censorship will kill a board. And not in the dramatic, Nazi way. But in the boring way, where there's simply not anything interesting going on, because anything racy enough to be interesting is either immediately banned or shouted down by idiots.

>>44307673
>not using your all-encompassing armor as ablative armor, shedding each piece in battle until you stand victorious among the bikini amazons in naught but your plate codpiece and gold-spurred sabatons which you will use to trample the jeweled thrones of Earth

New bread.
>>
>>44308793
>Don't police yourself because some mods are autists.
This is still a blue board no matter what mod is around. /aco/ gives more freedom to post risque stuff and outright porn. This isn't fucking Braveheart where you're fighting for your FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM
>>
>>44309137
The problem is what if I just want nipples, but don't want them to also be shitting dicknipples. Not having to get stuck in with a bunch of fags who don't even /tg/ is a legit concern.

Also, I'd appreciate it if this argument stayed here so the new thread can stick to just cool pictures. That would be nice.
>>
>>44309220
>The problem is what if I just want nipples, but don't want them to also be shitting dicknipples
You're confusing /aco/ with /d/
>>
>people gets mad on naked fantasy characters
young people today is fucking embarassing. no wonder niggers and analphabets from sahara countries use you as ladders.
>>
>>44309137
If you want porn, go to /aco/. If you want Fantasy discussion, stay here. You can even do both. But there is no need to pack up our bags and move to /aco/ because one autistic faggot thinks he's the board police.
>>
>>44309246
>You're confusing /aco/ with /d/
yeah I think the faggots who post there do that as well, which is his point

Specifically, the second anthology in the series, "Chicks 'n Chained Males," where the stories focus on proactive women rescuing men in peril.

What are you on about, mate? You must be used to unrealistic depictions of the female form. This Red Sonja is quite healthy.
