In a recent game the DM had a recurring team of happy high-spirited optimistic BBEG henchmen that kept harassing us and trying to provoke a fight, always with a genuine smile on their faces and always in a way that would make us look like the asshole bad guys if we responded in the way they wanted. They'd do shit like show up after we lost a fight and were near death, and just run and dance around us shouting motivational things and cracking terrible jokes, patting us on the backs and trying to help us to our feet and such, painting us with the colors of their organization and giving us memorabilia, and playing instruments right in our faces. Like, while we're bleeding out on the ground and there are very likely more enemies and monsters nearby. One time in particular without us knowing, they ran through a dungeon stirring up a ton of enemies, ran back to us leading them with a little headstart, did their typical song and dance routine, and then fled the scene leaving us to fight the horde the amassed. Probably the worst was stuff out of combat they did though, like renting rooms next to ours in inns and making tons of loud noise and music all night, or buying out all the supplies of something we might be looking for or needing and setting up a stall selling them at huge prices while treating them like worthless trash.

They even had their own "entrance" theme with showy stuff like lights, smoke and pyrotechnics.

That's fucking great lol. I'm the only faggot in my group of pals that watches wrasslin', so I'll throw in a wrestler character every once in a while. Never thought of basing a group of henchmen off of New Day yet, though I should. Back when Zeke and Kozlov were a thing I made two barbarians with grappling builds based off of them as my BBEG's top soldiers. They absolutely wiped the floor with the party during their first encounter, so much so that they started competing with each other to see who could slam and toss the party around more. Players were so goddamn scared anytime they'd show up.

There wasn't any 500,000 casualty estimate. A combined invasion of Kyushu and the Tokyo Plains would have had more combats deaths, but way less would have been civvies.

The emperor (indirectly) and a large part of the Japanese cabinet (the civilians, who comprised 50%) had been trying to force the war party into peace since May, when you began firebombing every city in Japan. (Literally every single one) The Empire was aware of this due to tapping the phone lines of their Tau allies, who the Eldar (sorry, Japs) sent a messenger to in the hope the Taummunists would intercede on their behalf to open negotiations. However, Emperor Truman refused to settle for anything less than Unconditional Surrender (so in the end, he refused the only serious Jap demand - keeping the Emperor - and then after they surrendered granted it back to them for fun. He did this because of electoral pressure in the US being connected to their unconditional surrender propaganda btw) and instead decided on a nuke. The USAF then flew over 350 more missions in the next 5 days (even though this would clearly make no difference to the surrender) just for fun, because FUCK JAPS.

Reading Oppenheimer's memoirs, it becomes clear that since 1943 the bomb had been intended for immediate use; the Army was upset they didn't have enough of them to use more, and even more upset they came up too late to nuke Germany a bunch of times. The initial reports prepared by Stimson wanted to nuke a bunch of civilians, with the caveat that they should "try to minimize casualties." Then they launched two bombs for fun instead of just saying "that was one, surrender or there's more."

(btw the Emperor decided to surrender after the first one but it took a few days for the cabinet to agree. They agreed BEFORE the second nuke but there wasn't enough time to say so to the Americans, who had put nuke launch command in the hands of some generals on an island who decided to launch the second one since a storm was rolling in and they wouldn't be able to kill hundreds of thousands of civilians for a few days)

Hopping is pretty good for the +3 movement speed but I think the chipmunk is better if you do the math. The Hoard of Infinite Nuts is pretty good if you're running a class with a light encumberance, like tree archers or anti-siege acorn droppers. Plus you can hide everywhere without rolling and you get Forest as a favored terrain so basically it's pretty OP.

I don't think you quite realize the stupidity you posted. There were a couple conditions that the Japanese wanted if they were going to surrender. Hirohito would still have his "Imperial Prerogative", they would hold their own war crimes tribunal, and if I remember properly, no occupation. What those three really do, is turn unconditional surrender into a ceasefire.
The "Imperial Prerogative", would have a simple yet, kind of important effect, the emperor still holds political power. When the entire war is for a regime change, keeping the leader in power is kind of, you know, counter productive.
The war crimes tribunal bit has the same effect, where you don't remove the military leadership. They aren't executed for the crimes against humanity that they just committed during the war, they just get a formal slap on the wrist, and then you have a military leadership still intact and pissy for being the first to surrender in known history to an outside force.
The no occupation is also kind of relevant, and obviously a bad idea. I can't comment on this because I am not 100% this was a condition.
Even still, the other two pretty much invalidated the whole point of surrender.

Nah, a succesful military invasion on North American soil isn't feasible. The problem with that statement is that China doesn't want foreign, overseas holdings. They never want it. They just want local control and dominance, making everyone around them into tributaries and military buffers, and dominance of world trade. So no, they wouldn't conquer the West Coast. The nationalist socialists are the most willing to play ball across the political spectrum though, so long as they get what they want. The hippie commie vegans and the nationalist socialists FUCKING hate each other, except when it comes to the EU, whom they both hate with a burning passion.

Almost forgot, we also have the conservatives. They generally make themselves known by being conservative while drinking and coming up with weird pipe dream schemes for reasing money in whatever community they come from.
