Live by a strict code.

Punish EVERYONE who doesn't conform to your views.

Plot twist - your views have nothing to do with alignment, but involve minor things like, tying your shoe laces left over right instead of right over left. Or making sure beggars eat a whole loaf of bread before you finally leave them alone. Even if they aren't hungry.

Or giving exactly 7 gold pieces, 32 silver pieces, and 80 copper to religious temples. Any less and they can't operate. Anymore and they start becoming wealthy and invite greed and avarice into their temple to pollute their sacred teachings.

Focus on the innocent of the conflict. Whoever is against them/harms them, even if it's inadvertently, needs to be punished.
