Super Soldier 1.jpg
4MB, 1600x3864px
I've got to say, I've been really enjoying Super Soldier ever since it was posted a few threads back. I can't think of a time I've ever made three builds for one CYOA back to back since I first found out they were a thing.

Origin - Innate

Form - Metahuman or Inhuman - Enormous guy that can partially transform into a mammoth

Faction - Rogue Agents. Our powers are derived from a source outside our world, and we are loyal to it above all others.

Abilities:

Strength 3
Endurance 3
Durability 3
Natural Weapon 3 - Mammoth transformation
Immunity 2
Regeneration 2
Unarmed Mastery 3
Power Burst 3
Training 3
Overcharge 3

Perks:

Transport - Giant mastodon, a supersoldier undergoing the same modification that went too right
Authority
Squad
(Defector)
Signing Bonus

Drawbacks:

Hated

Allies:

Max (now the giant mastodon transport)
Satan - the origin of our motivation
The Prototype - Most powerful and dangerous modification, our leader-by-example

Foes:

Bubbles - Renegade gorilla dude giving out our secrets

We're mostly just out for destruction. Anything the voice of our Benefactor tells us to ruin, we ruin.

>>44247829
Yeah, I find it's a lot easier to do villains than heroes with it. I make characters that would make interesting challenges for heroes or a team of dudes in a strategy game. A lot of those options, allies, perks, and the artwork were made for/suggest it.
>>
>>44247953

Yeah, villains can be just as fun as heroes. You're character would definitely be a challenge since it looks like he's basically indestructible and can overpower most things. If we met, I'd be happy I can fly.

Thanks! Anything to do with mobility and airgame is this guy's one big weakness actually. The best he could do is stand on the back of Max the Mastodon and attempt to swat your dood, unless the Prototype can leap or something.

My fella and his cohort see themselves as a living natural disaster - they grind and rampage through an area and lay waste to anything valuable that's bolted down and can't run. Bait for a plotmeister.

What't the point of Social Enhancer when there's Mind Reading and Control?
Mind Control 3 also seems superior to many combat abilities, you can simply make any foe without Focus 3 suicide. The only downside is that the enemy must be unaware of you, but that means stealthy builds are op.
I also don't understand Training, it makes your abilities weaker and you need decades to make it better. sound outright a complication than benefit.
It's origin specific, but Self Improvement sounds better than Overcharge, it can boost any ability at no cost other than time to activate while Overchange actively hurts you and can only improve physical abilities.

Of the four, I'd have to go with the Violet Power Ring. It's the only one that doesn't ruin the entire world for everyone forever.

Seriously. If an asteroid were headed towards any of the other world/scenarios there, I would be rooting for the asteroid. If humanity's that deep in the hole, extinction would be better than the eternities promised in these scenarios.
>>
>>44244772
Water; pressure, blood, elemental form.
Cut them with pressurised water, then immediately enter their body as an elemental. You could go around cutting people with spouts of blood and growing an army of "followers". If their bodies are destroyed, you unleash your final form - the gigantic blood golem, capable of transforming into a razor sharp bloodnado, slicing into victims and taking control of their blood.

Just try to find an edgier wizard.
>>
>>44251577
OR you turn the bodies into a giant throbbing magic penis, and use your razorbloodcum to amass more victims.
>>
>>44251574
To expand on this, if I saw any chance of the situation ever getting better, any chance of rebellion ever working? I wouldn't have so much of a problem. Any indignity can be weathered so long as you have even the chance to reclaim your sovereignty later on.

But the scenarios presented here have absolutely no chance of getting better ever.

Quiet's CYOA is kinda like that, just with a more horror feel to it, though the horror is more hinted at and can be ignored..
>>

>>44252300
But your mind and memories are erased the "new" you wouldn't feel any pain or respite at all.

>>44252449

The Violet ring is the only good option. I mean, sure, it turns you into a woman. But you don't have to deal with weird womanly things, via Ring hax, including the able to shift your shape and become a different person. It should also be mentioned that there's nothing actually wrong with men in the Violet corp, it's just that only Kyle, I think it was, was inducted.
>>
>>44252462
It isn't horrifying if it's your choice.
>>
>>44252462
Anon you must be horrified all the fucking time then.

Because I bet you anything you can't remember exactly what you did 4 years ago, 2 months, 6 hours, 34 minutes and 15 seconds from the date of this post.

You just forgot a fraction of your memories, that means a part of you just died.

There's a continuity of information and experience between now and four years ago. Not so if all of it was suddenly destroyed all at once.

But do you ever think back to the mentality you were as a child and compared that to the mentality that you have now?

>>
>>44252618
>>44252703
Your subjectivity, or consciousness, is independent of your memories and mind. It is possible to clone your memories and mind but your subjectivity is bound to you exclusively by the very nature of it. You aren't the person you think you are, you're the subjectivity observing that person.
>>
>>44249274
I guess Mind Reader requires close proximity, and gives raw data that needs interpreting rather than an immediate intuition "this guy is a liar". Control meanwhile lets you puppet people, you can't pick their brings.

I'll happily admit MC 3 is very strong. I don't take those powers because I find them uninteresting, but if I did I would want them nerfed for balance's sake.

Training needs a tweak. A name that's better than Training would be a start, it's so unnexciting for it's effect. I reckon it shouldn't weaken the user if taken.

Self Improvement is only for one ability at a time. Overcharge is everything, unless I misread. Both of those and Power Burst are variations on the same concept, which is fair because they play upon different styles.

>>44250120

>>44252851

>>
>>44252999
>This sounds like some new age or religious nonsense.
It's just the truth, friendo. It's the reason that you're still you despite not sharing any physical or mental qualities with future or past versions of the person you claim to be. Because you're not that person, that person is a construct you're imposing on your observation of reality.
>>
>>44252999
>I remember the continuity

And you aren't horrified how much your mentality deviated and changed over the course of your lifetime?

Why would a person who has given consent to have his mind and memories erased be horrified when your own mind and consciousness naturally changes over time, sometimes so radically that it does not one bit resemble the child's mind it grew from?

You got to understand some people are horrified by the continuity itself, due to being unable to gain control over their own lives.
>>
>>44253103
No, because there is a connection, and a line. I know who I was, and who I am. I know what events lead from one to the other. If my entire mind is erased, I will know none of this. Your own mind does not naturally dump its entire contents all at once, things are slowly changed over time, piece by piece. It has continuity.
>>
>>44253220
I get you dude. I noped the fuck out of Quiet on the last page. Ruined a cool as hell cyoa for me.
>>
>>44253220
All I am saying is there are people that are horrified by that continuity because they have absolutely no control over that entire transition due to psychological and traumatic issues.

To such people, dumping the entire contents would be liberating they can start over on a clean state without any clinging stigma and bias from their old horrible existence.
>>
>>44244772

>>44253103
>And you aren't horrified how much your mentality deviated and changed over the course of your lifetime?
Nope, it's life. I grow older and more experienced which in turn shapes my conscience, a nice gradual and continuous process. The other anon worded it much better >>44253220

>Why would a person who has given consent to have his mind and memories erased be horrified when your own mind and consciousness naturally changes over time, sometimes so radically that it does not one bit resemble the child's mind it grew from?
I'm not sure where you're getting this consenting person from. They can't be horrified after since they're completely reset and the new person that will emerge eventually isn't the same as the previous one. Therefore they have to be horrified before, in which case they probably wouldn't give consent.

>You got to understand some people are horrified by the continuity itself, due to being unable to gain control over their own lives.
So you're saying some people are suicidal? I had no idea.
>>
>>44253373
People that want themselves to die are suicidal, and we don't consider this healthy thinking.
>>
>>44253431
>Do you have any actual scientific studies to back any of this up?
No, and that isn't something that could possibly be useful. The philosophy of the mind is a metaphysical question, and science has no means to address metaphysical questions.

Just ask yourself how the fuck you would go about creating a scientific study to determine whether what I said is true or false.

>>
>>44253512
He's right, but it is a pretty difficult point to explain. Science requires you to observe something from the outside, but consciousness can only be observed subjectively. Therefore, there is very little if anything that science can say about consciousness.

You know the classic stoner question "What if the color you see when you look at something red is different from the color I see, but we both just call it red because that's just what we've learned to call that color?" The light waves are obviously the same for both observers, and presumably the brain functions. The difference they are describing is a difference of what it is like to experience a particular color.

Consciousness is the sum total of what it is like to be a specific person. Since "what it is like to be a certain person" is not observable objectively, it necessarily falls outside of the scope of science. That doesn't make feelsy mumbo-jumbo any more valid, it means that the idea can only be presently explored through deductive reasoning (logic), not inductive reasoning (science).
>>
>>44253502
So you're just saying that it's both true and unprovable, and that I should believe it because you say so?
Can you propose an alternative method by which it's correctness can be deduced?

>>44253571
>People that have done the Quiet cyoa and had their minds and memories erased.
Read the rest of the paragraph, if they did it they clearly weren't horrified of it.

>If all your choices, thoughts and feelings were dictated by a outside power and you had to live through whatever consequences those decisions entailed, did you live at all or are you simply already dead inside?
It would make literally no difference, but you're probably looking for a philosophical debate rather than a practical one.
>>
>>44253827
There's nothing supernatural about metaphysics. Arrogant scientists often forget, but the starting point of all knowledge is 'Cogito ergo sum'.
>>
>>44253877
>correctness
Fuck, that was supposed to be objective correctness.
>>
>>44253877
>Can you propose an alternative method by which it's correctness can be deduced?
Through the process of deduction.

1. I am.
2. All of my physical and mental qualities are different from all past and future alternatives to myself.
3. Yet, I am.
4. Physical and mental qualities are not essential to me.
>>
>>44253877
But anon it has always been a philosophical debate because you're dealing with concepts about the mind and the consciousness.

From all the people have argued against me, you just assumed that consciousness cannot exist without the mind and the continuity of memories that arises. I can't really prove or disprove this assumption because I don't possess the academic background.

If you want a more practical debate fine, if teleportation technology becomes sufficiently advanced as depicted in Star Trek and humans who are teleported have their entire original being utterly destroyed and every aspect of their identity, physiology mind, memories and consciousness perfectly replicated to the teleported location, did the original person cease to exist?
>>
>>44253895
Don't you have a tree to hug, new age?
>>
>>44253987
Maybe deduce wasn't the correct word, I probably meant determine.

>2. All of my physical and mental qualities are different from all past and future alternatives to myself.
>all
I don't think you put much thought into that.

>>44254095
>I don't possess the academic background.
Neither do I.

>But anon it has always been a philosophical debate because you're dealing with concepts about the mind and the consciousness.
I just consider it practical as long as it's observable. Which the mind and consciousness might not be, but it's effects on the way a person acts is, which is good enough for me.

>you just assumed that consciousness cannot exist without the mind and the continuity of memories that arises
You must've misunderstood me, I only said continuity in mind and memory is required for there to be continuity in consciousness.

>I can't really prove or disprove this assumption
Which is exactly why I dislike philosophical debates: we can't prove shit.

>teleportation
Sorry mate, I have no idea. It completely depends on whether there is continuity or not. I'd say the original person still exists if there is continuity, otherwise it doesn't.

>>
>>44254497
>2. All of my physical and mental qualities are different from all past and future alternatives to myself.

>I don't think you put much thought into that.

Rather, I'm being more exacting with the situation than you expect from a layman's point of view. My physical qualities include such factors as the position of every atomic and subatomic particle in my "body" at any given moment, my mental qualities include such factors as the focus of my internal monologue at any given moment. These are always different between any two single points in time, but I am not, therefore they are not essential to my being.
>>
>>44254696
That's certainly true, but in my experience it rarely 'only' lasts for a thread, especially if it's a brand new CYOA. Artifex certainly didn't get posted once, get some relaxed multiplayer action and then quiet down by the next thread.
>>
>>44252462
I have to agree with you anon. The fact that some new being is created doesn't reduce any of the terribleness that I die.

>>44252563
>Anon you must be horrified all the fucking time then.
Try to start by imagining that even though the person you're talking to believes differently than you, they are at least of average intelligence. When you say stuff like this, it makes it sound like you have some sort of mental issue that prevents you from basic comprehension of foreign concepts. I'm sure that you're not actually dumb though, so if you thought for a second you'd realize that there's a consistent and non-silly opinion in there, even if it's not one you hold.
Personally, I'd ask are you horrified by the constant and continuous death and replacement of your body's cells? That's a kind of small death. The fact that a person changes and forgets little details doesn't change the fact that the core self is formed by a continuity of memories and attitudes.

Well to be frank it's not a question of whether I mind it or not since that's not an autonomous capacity of mine. Likes, dislikes, feelings, thoughts, and of course all physical sensations are no more mine than the body they inform. At the level of what I actually am, considerations like preference cease to have meaning. I am a subjectivity, not a mind or a body. And of course there's just the determined fact of what those things will, and must be - I don't have a choice to think or feel (more properly understood as experience the thoughts and feelings of the person I believe myself to be) in a way differently from what causality has determined "I" will think and feel. My only autonomy lies in a genuine awareness of my own nature, which includes awareness of the fact that the mind and body, as well as secondary features such as memory, are not essential to my being.

I think that comes up to matter of opinion anon.
Some people like small three choice cyoa.
Some like larger ones, Traveller comes in at the far end of all that, so much so its as much a setting as a cyoa. That said I'll just wait for the next version just to see what Highlander does with it, I don't see much reason going over a version he said was just an intermediate clusterfuck.

>>44261260

Necromancer calls to you

Personally o think that's an awful argument. Despite space refuge having a full page for planets, I couldn't find one that fit. Despite three pages of companions, I couldn't find enough that fit.
Just because there were options, didn't mean there were options I wanted.
One guy complained about slut life trying to cater to so many fetishes it just became a clusterfuck.
Many choises in a CYOA =/= a good cyoa.

I find traveller allows all kinds of builds, Your mages, Your tech-heads, Samurais, Knights, Archers, Wizards, Goddamn near anything. If none of the origins appeal to you, You can be a watcher, If none of the locations or groups appeal to you, homelandd/freelancer/whatever all exist
Theres also custom weapons/armor that are just as good.
>>
>>44261310
>So you think it's good solely because it's long?

No, but some people like lots of choice if it is executed well, Necromancer, Spess Refugee, Stardust and Traveller at the far end of the spectrum may not be universally liked but people do enjoy them because of the choice they offer, to say nothing of their artistic makeup, structure and everything else.

There's also something different about Traveller, it's essentially as big of a clusterfuck as you'd expect from a bunch of ptsd time travellers who are fucking around waiting for round two with Azathoth's grandparents.

It's the only CYOA you can raid Commodus' Rome with Copernicus and Vikings using your Terracota Warriors.
There's so many interesting choices in this CYOA I can't even. There's 40 pages of companions, about 3 to 4 each page, and you can still pick one randomly and it will be a interesting one.
There are some flaws though. For example, Cedril Vibration Dispenser, the book doesn't describe how it looks, woks and what it can exactly do beyond "it's very useful".

I think this is a naturalistic fallacy. Left to their own devices a thread will devolve into shitposting, no different to how a board with little rules will devolve into sharing porn and whining. People can become used to unmoderated norms. But natural =/= good and shitposting interferes with sharing, using and discussing content. Threads which take an effort to punish shitposting, for all the petty arguments that such punishment generates, flow better and more productively than ones where it launches unbridling into flamewars.

/tg/'s native comparison is the difference between 40K and 30K general. The level of memes, people who can't read and jumping straight to calling others retards without explanation are possibly infinitely higher in the former than the latter, and it's because the latter tells people off for giddy idiot behaviour without fault.

can anyone post cyoas that make you think about your build? The cyoas that you really like, the ones that lead to posts that aren't just "I pick a, b and c"?

The only one I feel has done that recently, was RWBY.
I'm having trouble making a CYOA that does just that, that gets posted more than once.

An ex-college student, he was kidnapped and used as a host to be possessed by a demon. Something happened during the ritual and instead of simply being possessed his soul merged with that of the demon, becoming a new being. He is extremely intelligent and have acquired so far deep knowledge regarding various religions and mythologies, philosophy (in special ethics) and psychology. He also has mystical control of his body and soul which permits him living without requiring any basic needs such as eating and breathing, peak human physique, endure many harmful forces and defy gravity. His most prominent feature, though, is his third eye which not only is fully functional but also capable of seeing through minds and far away locations. It can also channel his life force as a harmful beam, but he much prefers fighting his enemies with his mind instead. Using his vast knowledge in combination with what he saw with the third eye, he is capable of both manipulation and destruction of mind through words.
He is magically bound to obey the cult who kidnapped(summoned) him and work for them, but is also disappointed by their petty mundane actions and objectives.

Regardless of the absurd soul argument I think identity death is something you should just be able to get over.
It's part of the premise that the new character is somehow you, so you should make your choices according to that and give them the life you'd prefer.

Good sense of humor is all you need really. And emotional stability will take care of a lot of "female personality problems", but yeah the CYOA is not perfect.

>>44262105
Wel, there were tiny pictures of a cum covered face and a blurry bbc picture where you only see a bit of shape of his balls from behind.
>>
>>44263012
I always think of choices in a CYOA as if what i would choose if i was offered it in real life. Not as some unrelated character who can make self-destructing choices for the sake of fun all day long.
>>
>>44263156
And so do I.
The key difference is I don't have autism and I can complete a CYOA even if it says "you are dead" or "your memories are erased". I don't cry and bitch and whine for the author to erase something I don't like.
>>
>>44263156
Then you have to imagine you're really in that dilemma and think about what choices you would make even if all the options are bad.
>>
>>44263201
Exactly, anon. You can't whine about muh memories when there isn't an "I decline" option.
You just have to accept it as is, and make the best of - in your mind - a less than ideal situation
>>
>>44262929
>Just get over killing yourself.

>>
>>44263201
>>44263347
There is a 'decline' option. The premise of the CYOA is that god and satan are giving you a choice to do this instead of going to heaven or hell.
>>
>>44263178
It's possible that some people think the CYOA would be improved without this issue and thus give their criticism. Is nobody allowed to question the perfect CYOA now?

Not too sure about boons, since they would have to be things you can't do with magic (and magic is pretty fancy right now, so perhaps just a bonus to one of your stats). Or something as simple as choosing one of your schools of magic, and improving it.

You're welcome, SDA.

Now, I am going to go watch Star Wars.

Now that I mention it, I need a word.

I just don't know what to call it…
>>
>>44268229
It's true that there's less customization this way but honestly plinking around with those numbers wasn't that great. I think you're overreacting.

I like the % price decrease for smaller additional ships a lot more than all of that.
>>
>>44268304
Well, I liked it more than the other space one, that's for sure.
It's just… too big for me. I remember not giving a carp about the guns because at that point I had already looked at all the different ship parts.
>>
>>44268334
>I didn't enjoy customization in a CYOA about customization.
Then it wasn't for you, anon. One page choose-a-thing CYOAs still exist for your tastes.

Now instead we're taking CYOAs for people who do like customization and removing all of it for zero benefit, replacing it with generic single choice trash.

No, but the old one is now outdated, and has less outside of the ship section which is gimped in the new version.

I honestly have no idea why you're so eager to gargle SDA's dick and defend all of his actions, though. Is he going to buy you a drink for the service?

>>44268487
It's just a fantasy CYOA, anon. There's nothing stopping you from using the old ship building system and everything else from the new version.

>I honestly have no idea why you're so eager to gargle SDA's dick and defend all of his actions, though. Is he going to buy you a drink for the service?

>It's just a fantasy CYOA
You mean scifi?

And I could tape this CYOA and fucking Dream Princess together. Doesn't mean it's the 'official' or correct way to do it, and that this new ship system isn't generic and inferior.

So you really like being able to pick something generic and be on your way with no customization? If that's the case then this CYOA wasn't for you, like I said originally.
>>
>>44268544
Look up what the term fantasy means.

>'official' or correct way to do it
>this new ship system isn't generic and inferior
Autism.

Seriously, we've been using a mix of versions for like a year now, it's not going to be any different if you keep doing it in your own way. Just do it the way you enjoy.

>So you really like being able to pick something generic and be on your way with no customization?
I didn't think the customization aspect gave us anything that the current system doesn't give us. Except maybe matching ship stats with the ship look you want, if you even considered that.

The new system gives us a much better way to build a fleet of smaller support ships however, and I really like that.

>If that's the case then this CYOA wasn't for you, like I said originally.
Yes it was, I really liked it, and I like it even more now. No need to get *mad* about it.

How about more customization, more room to create your own personal ship with your own lore and taste.

So you only defend this trash because you want a bunch of generic fighters following you? That doesn't mean the main ship system isn't fucked beyond belief.

>>
>>44268651

>>
>>44268637
I used the term fantasy to point out that this is all fantasy, not as a genre designator. It's not real, it's in your head, you're fantasizing about it.

>How about more customization, more room to create your own personal ship with your own lore and taste.
You still have pretty much every significant result you could get before, but now it's in a prepackaged form. Whatever, anon. Like I said the only concrete reason this might be worse is if you want specifically a herald ship with a specific stat spread for example. If you don't care it's from a specific manufacturer then you can get anything.

>So you only defend this trash because you want a bunch of generic fighters following you? That doesn't mean the main ship system isn't fucked beyond belief.
Yeah, but the support fleet system was fucked beyond belief in the previous versions. And the main ship one is not fucked beyond belief, it gives you more or less the same results. So on the whole the new CYOA is superior.

>No it wasn't. If you want generic ship options, then Space Refugee was for you. Not Stardust.

Oh, nice! This looks great. Honestly, the hull system wasn't working that well for me, and as far as I can tell, most of what it did can be represented here anyway. Love the addition of dreadnoughts, as I'm always the kind of guy to go for the mighty glacier build.

As far as the complaints people are putting up about customization, I always just saw the pictures that CYOA creators gave the options as suggestions or as a seed for your own ideas. If I don't like the picture, I find one that I think suits the ship I want to make. *shrugs*

Thanks for the work SDA.

>>
>>44269057
Yeah, the system that got rid of a significant portion of customization is better because it also added a lot of customization that was missing from previous versions while maintaining a reasonable spread of choice similar to the old customization.

It's like if the old system was a 10 in the single ship design and a 2 in the support fleet design, but now the new system is an 8 in the single ship design and a 10 in the support fleet design. Do the math.
>>
>>44269088

Seriously, look at the fucking CYOA. Hull selection is there. Energy selection, shield selection, command mods, hull mods, weapon systems, rooms. Almost everything is still there. Hell a good portion of the old subsystems is still there too, in the form of the command mods and hull selection.
>>
>>44269219
So you're saying the new version is shallow? I agree completely. It's shallow compared to the old one, a kiddy pool at best. It's simplistic pick-a-ship instead of letting you design your own, like a baby version of Stardust.

>>
>>44268145
Didn't you say you also had an updated version of the original page sitting around? Why don't you post that too? If you have both I don't see any reason for you to hide one and preserve this argument.
>>
>>44269279
>Freedom
It doesn't give you any extra freedom, it simply makes it easy for you to be lazy in making multiple ships. This is at the cost of all the customization, and it completely screws over anyone who wanted one good ship instead of a bunch of small drones.
>>
>>44269301
No, laziness doesn't enter the equation. The old system made it much more cost prohibitive to have multiple ships. The most you could get was something like a cruiser plus two decent fighters, and then your money was gone.

>This is at the cost of all the customization
At the cost of a small part of the customization you mean, since almost everything is still there.
>>
>>44268120

Somehow it feels like theirs too few credits
>>
>>44269334
>Small part
No. Being able to build your own ship instead of just picking something generic and being done isn't a 'small part'.

While I can understand updating it to make it easier for you to buy a bunch of cheap shit for your fleet fantasies, that shouldn't have come at the cost of fucking over anyone who wanted one or two ships instead.
>>
>>44269370
Good thing it didn't fuck over the single ship people then, huh? Since you can still have pretty much every final result from before.

You can still give me an example of a ship that you could make before that doesn't have anything comparable in the new system by the way. Try not to go all emo again and say EVERYTHING or whatever it was, since you know perfectly well that's not true.
>>
>>44269422
>Final result
I don't see why this is the only thing that matters to you. Having a 'final result' wasn't the point. Being done wasn't the point. The fun was in building and customizing something. Especially if you only want one ship, the entire joy is derived from painstakingly creating something for yourself. As cliche as it is, this was about the journey, with the destination being nothing more than a cap on it. Again, it wasn't about being finished. By removing the customization of your ship, this system really has screwed over people who want a single ship, because now they don't have anything to do, they choose something, and they're finished. It's over. That's not satisfying, that's not fun, there's very little personal input, taste, or imagination in this. The fact that you don't get it means you're really not qualified to sit here and say that other players should be happy with this, because you simply can't put yourself in their shoes.
>>
>>44269357
To me it feels like plenty, since I have more than twice what I had in previous versions. But then I always took the big titles.
>>
>>44269122
If what the CYOA says is so sacrosanct, then why is shitting all over it to make the author change what it says a better solution than just using a picture of a ship you like?

Like, the best part of CYOAs and TTRPGs and other traditional games is the player's ability to expand their play past what is outlined in the provided materials.
>>
>>44269357

Alright, I can understand that much, I also enjoyed putting together the subsystems and manufacturers and such.

>>
>>44269528
The meat was in building your ship. That's not there anymore. And we haven't gained anything that necessitated cutting it out. That's the most bitter part, there wasn't any need to do this.
>>
>>44269548
The meat of building your ship is still there.

Instead of having three spreadsheets of stats that you could add together, you now just choose one. But the spreadsheet was like 10% of the ship building at best in the first place.
>>
>>44269577
I'm not seeing any ship modules. I'm seeing generic ships to pick from.

The only reason you keep calling it a spreadsheet is because you only cared about the stats. You didn't think about the style, the function, or the purpose of any of the subsystems when building your ship, did you? You only looked at the little pips it had. That's why you can't really understand how vital being able to build your own ship was to all this. You only thing in stats and end results still.
>>
>>44269611
>You didn't think about the style, the function, or the purpose of any of the subsystems when building your ship, did you?
There wasn't any of that there. It was only stats. Literally. There was a price, a name, and a few given stats. Not even a description or anything.

Yes, the first one had a description, but we still have that part in the current version.
>>
>>44264301
In this case though, Quiet Creator was a shit.
>>
>>44269656
>>44269611
In fact, I think the ship hull section is a lot better fluffwise now. Every manufacturer has every ship size nicely described.
>>
>>44268954
>In the end, I think I'll go with the city, but in an unexpected kind of way.
Underground below the city!
>>
>>44268165
So I crunched the numbers and apparently the most cost effective ship in the entire cyoa that gets you the most bang for your buck is the most basic fighter ship, the S92-TMC.

What I did was convert each of the ships attributes to money using the hull mod prices as a reference. For example the hull mod section lists additional spinal weaponry to cost 4m credits. As a caveat, since Hull armor doesn't have a direct incremental mod, I just assumed its a 1:1 conversion. Crew sizes is impossible to quantify and energy use is also not considered because I was lazy.

In order to figure out the overall cost-benefit ratio, I calculated each ship's effective price using the hull mods and then divided that by its actual price. The higher the ratio the more cost effective the ship.

I probably made alot of fucking miscalculation errors or even inputted some of the numbers wrong, I'll recheck my data tomorrow.

But it's dictated. This ship is this. You don't customize or build it. You get this ship that is exactly this way, and you're done. That's not interesting at all to someone who wants to build a ship and not a fleet.

You still determine everything else about the ship.

If this is really too much for you just use the previous version. No, it doesn't matter that it's outdated, your own enjoyment should take precedent.

Had a bitch of a time with money. But I pamper my crew too much.

Very little. It's not your ship anymore. It's the same as everyone elses now.

Then I won't have access to what improvements are there outside the ship building.

thanks

The dreadnaught manufacturers are really fucked up. Dhyana says it should be Triglav in the description, and Mothership says it should be Herald. Meanwhile they're both listed as Hammerhead.

That's not how IQ works
