Oldcron fluff simply didn't go into it. Outside of a few details (short-lived and morbid due to incurable supercancer, technologically advanced, hated the Old Ones, etc.), the Necrontyr were a blank slate to the point where it could even be imagined that they weren't humanoid at all, and the body structure of the Necrons was meant to reinforce their skeletal appearance as a symbol of death to their (humanoid) enemies.

It's an ancient Necrontyr glyph that serves as a reminder of their long-dead and mysterious culture, sh-shut up!

The other Oldcron Lord models and the Immortals had it too, so maybe it's a sign that the C'tan really liked them or something. Imotekh and the 5th edition Overlord also have forehead glyphs, but of different designs, Imotekh's being the top half of the Sautekh Dynasty glyph.

Either way, I have a female necron Lord in my army. She's a conversion from an Infinity fembot. Basically, the fluff is that her programming has degraded a bit and she labors under the delusion that she's still beautiful and seductive. So she constantly tries to emphasize her femininity and use her "wiles" on other Necrons, who don't give a fuck.

In my head-canon, most necron females look and act exactly as necron males and are indistinguishable, except for these rare glitches.

Proportionally speaking, it's all fucked up, from the size of the head compared to the body, to the lengths of arms and legs, or the torso and its number and placement of synthetic muscles, to end with the oversized two headed weapon that also is impractical looking however you would plan to use it.
Conceptually speaking it is out of context: From the fact that eldar and necron are sworn enemies, to the necrosermis skeleton not looking like a skeleton, or the flashy, impractical and useless bits protruding from the weapons for the sole purpose of loading them with as much things as possible, disregarding simplicity as a key quality in concepts development.

This is seriously the edgiest teenage artwork I've seen all year. In a few years you're going to look back on this and laugh.

Work on making your capes swooshier, and try to have any loose wind-able pieces of the design moving in concert together. If his hair is being blown to the side like that, the cape must as well. Try and make more balanced proportions. His legs right now look too short compared to the rest of his body, and his elbow joints take up too much space on the arms. Even for an alien skeleton design, it looks awkward.

The very recent Ghostkeel battlesuit has a female head option for its pilot, which instantly achieved dank status here for going against all the kawaii uguu Tau girl fanart. You might be conflating two stories. The only sculpts where the rights were ever in question, so far as I'm aware, were the first generation Dark Eldar. You know how a lot of places are emphatic that they will not review any submissions from fans? There's a legal reason for this - so they can never be accused of appropriating somebody's idea for a commercial gain. This is basically what happened when Chris Fitzpatrick was hired by Games Workshop in 1998.

Story goes, most of the Dark Eldar range originated from Fitzpatrick's unsolicited submission to the UK studio. Since it was the '90s and GW was still being run like it operated out of someone's garage, instead of tossing it, they offered him a job. Trouble is, they never stipulated that Fitzpatrick had to cede his intellectual property rights to Games Workshop.

Since he had done most of the designs and some of the sculpts before he was on the Citadel payroll, their status was disputed when he ended his working relationship with Games Workshop. Ultimately - and this is entirely hearsay on my part, but the people I heard it from were in a position to know - they ultimately agreed to pay Fitzpatrick a percentage for every one of his models sold; and then they pulled the entire range from stores, overnight, to discourage sales.

Diaz's daemonettes, meanwhile, remained on the shelves and available for purchase right up until they were replaced by the new plastic kit - which was designed in collaboration with Mythic Entertainment for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning - in order to preserve the T for Teen rating, they had to downplay the bare breasted aesthetic of the Slaneesh stuff.

The C'tan God bodies were modeled on the ancient deities of the Necrontyr. They look very humanoid.

By the law of existence human-like like Sci-fi species, sexual dimorphism exists. Thusly Necrontyr tits exist.

Also Necron royalty customized themselves in a manner befitting their status. One would imagine that the tradition and status obsessed Necrons would have different designs for Phaerakh and Phaerons.
