If the issue here is writing prompts aren't game related (which is fair), why do the Wednesday writing threads (which seem equally, if not more, frequent), the Worldbuilding threads and the seasonal NaNo threads not get proportional criticism?

It's good HFY because it uses a credible threat, poses humanity as the underdogs, and relies on a positive interpretation of the human spirit. See also: Berserk.

What it does not do is posit an arbitrarily weak enemy for humanity then let humanity beat that enemy because all humans can run farther or some shit.

You're retarded. Guts needs to rely on an elf and spirit magic, humans are portrayed as weak and evil, and the non-humans tend to be the most sane creatures in the setting.

It's less "Humanity Fuck Yeah" and more "These outlier Humans Fuck Yeah, the rest of Humanity is fucking awful."

Seriously, stop trying to slap HFY onto things when it's clear you're entire thought process is "It's got human protagonists and non-human enemies, that must be HFY."
