Anime series about a bunch of guys and gals who rebel against an oppressive king using giant robots, then go to fight aliens with better versions of those giant robots, until they eventually have giant robots the size of galaxies.

It;s pretty fun, though has poor animation at times and really requires you to turn off your brain. On Netflix instant if you have that.

As I recall, the goggles are actually greenstuffed on to regular Cadian heads, and the guns heavily converted as well. I don't think there was any Forgeworld on them, actually.

I remember seeing the process before, either in a White Dwarf or that old web magazine GW used to put out, the Black Gobbo.
