Got into Firestorm Armada in a big way recently. Can we just talk about how fun it is? That was always Spartan's thing, making fun games, and nice resin minis. With FA 2.0 they seem to have finally nailed the rulebook as well.

Hi Neal, how's fucking FA fanbase over with New Best Thing HALO going?

This post x1000
I'm almost done with my Ba'Kash fleet, just have to paint the SRS. I've got a 2k game against RSN on Sunday. /tg/ never seems to talk about this game.

Cause the company itself does all in their power to ensure no one picks it up. They seem to be firmly in the Matthew Sprange/Mongoose Games line of companies where picking up any of their games is a gamble. All you know, they can be bored of it by tuesday and start a new project to give them the Big Break that want. I love the game and the models, but I loathe the company behind it more than GW.

Shit, really? I've had my eye on dystopian wars for a while (the naval stuff looks great) but that doesn't sound too encouraging.
>>44128563
really? I guess I never got that impression. Hell some of the Spartan guys answer rule questions on the forum, I don't think GW even has a forum. I still have my 40k stuff but maybe get 1-2 games in a year anymore, it's so fucking boring.

Don't get me wrong, the people in the company are (apparently) quite nice, but the company is run like an ADHD convention, at least from my pov as a consumer.
>>44130008
That's too bad. Ah well, I'll continue to enjoy it.
>>44131870
The game is good, so you should have no problem ejoying it, just don't get too attached.
So how is Firestorm Planetfall? It looks pretty cool but I've never played any TTGs of that scale.
>>44127158
Probably just as well as the robots in DW
>>44128931
By all means, get stuff for the game, enjoy it. Just be aware that with Spartan, you can never tell when they're going to release an entire new game and forget about DW/FS:A for a year, until their new game inevitably fails after the initial burst of sales and they come crawling back to the only games they've made work. At least when they do make stuff, they're fairly good at releasing stuff for all the major nations at once, so it's not like you're going to be in the same state as, say, the Dark Eldar were in 40K. Unless it's a minor/alliance nation, which are part of Spartan's ADHD project catalogue.

We do not speak of the Weaponized Stereotype Jaegers.
>>44131870
Just how huge are these models? At first I though they were around BFG in terms of size, but these things look way bigger than I thought
>>44136917
Most of the models are about one "class" larger than BFG equivalent. BB's are about 15-17cm long, cruisers about 8, frigates half that.
>>44135641
What model is that?
I just picked up a Dindrenzi patrol fleet and frigatr group. The models are much larger than I expected them to be. I've not had time to really sit down and figure out how anything plays yet, though. There's another guy in my group who said he was going to buy some Directorate ships, and another who said he thought the Terran ships were interesting.
I never see threads on /tg/ for this game, though. Is it not that popular?
>>44134820
I enjoy it, but it definitely has some balance issues. Armada is far better balanced.
>>44136917
Largest model I own is the Valhalla research station from the 2 player starter box. it is 6.5 inches long, 4.5" tall, and 4.25" wide. My Titan Dreadnaught is 6.5" long, and about 2" wide and tall. They get smaller from there, the smallest are the frigates, which are usually no more than an inch or two.
Have some terrain scans
And some more
Any tips running sorylians? Or is it just rush to close range and broadside?
>>44139538
try to stock up on warwolf gunships, take max number of frigates, hope hard that dice dont fail and with some luck you're draw 50% of your games.
>>44139538
Shunt in the big hitters.
Your Gunships are pretty impressive and will hang around until late game. Tough blighters.
>>44140623
Knowing what and when to shunt is one of the more important skills for a lot of the races. Some things, like Terran Missionaries, are obvious, but others, like the Marshal battlecruiser are less so.

I wonder if that's because there's still a lot missing, or is Spartan just a trial and error company when it comes to game design?
I got into FA a while back, got me a fleet of Terrans which are half painted (I fucking hate painting anything, even if I can make decent colour schemes) and my boss got the... corporate shitters. I can't think of their name. Directorate?
I quite like the universe and everything else like that. I'd be much happier if my boss would actually get his shit together enough so we could have another game. As in second. ffs brad.
