And, generally speaking, the most popular dagger in Northern Europe and Britain for centuries was the bollock dagger, which is literally designed to look like cock and balls and is sheathed right in front of the wearer's crotch.

Why is a penis dagger the most popular or why was it sheathed right in front of the crotch?
1: Everyone loves a good dick joke, and imagine how much you can get done when you're carrying an (fairly lethal) artificial dick right there at all times.
2: With the handle facing up (As if your dagger was the fully erect dick that it emulates), your arms are already close enough to there most of the time to make it easy and quick to draw, since the blade is short.
>>
>>44080981
>they can protect their masters from arrows n shit

Wouldn't they need a shitload of energy to build a electromagnetic field strong enough for that? It'd be easier to zap them with that energy and be done with it imo.

Here is an option, the sword is held by a snap thingy on the belt.

However, I think it'd be fucking crazy to carry your sword with it's edge bare. A properly sharpened sword would most likely injure the person carrying it. Not to mention the wear and tear from being exposed to the elements.

Proper humiliation during rape requires an artificial penis to tell your victim that they are so worthless that they aren't even worth sticking your proper male reproductive organ in them. The tool used to threaten them also being used to forcefully penetrate them just cuts down time and costs involved in the rape by about half.

Keeping the edge bare is more likely to damage the sword than it is to damage you.

Vadi recommended that a fighter only keep their blade sharpener "four fingers from the tip", because hitting lower on the blade (mezza and lower) is more bludgeoning than cutting.

A scabbard is a tool that works pretty well. Actually, it's not even a specific tool, it's the name for the general function. If you stop using conventional scabbards and start using something else instead, you haven't "replaced" scabbards, you've just invented another kind of scabbard.

along with the grain-of-metal excuse for infinite ammo and no magazine (but they had to go and fuck that up in the rest of the series)

Yeah, them adding in heat sinks as an "ammo system" pissed me off so much for several reasons.

1. It was obviously just a move to make the gun-play more like every other shooter when it really didn't need to be.
2. They gave some shitty excuse about how heatsinks increased firing rate since they negated needing to worry about venting and therefore everyone adopted them because "that's what is better" ignoring the fact that
3. They added an entirely new logistics concern to anyone looking to use any heatsink using weapons. Now every armed force would need to worry about constantly supplying their troops with heatsinks alongside other supplies. Or at least they would, except that heatsinks magically grow out of the ground apparently based on how easy they are to find.
4. If you ever ran out of heatsinks you couldn't fire your guns at all. It would be cool if you could have hybrid system guns where heatsinks allowed you to "overheat" your weapon, eject the sink, then go right back to firing without needing to worrying about venting; but no, the guns are incapable of being fired despite them still have plenty of ammunition.

Really? I thought the ammo in ME2 and onward was just regular bullets again.

Still, I wish they stuck with the old infinite ammo ones. You'd think someone would say "wait up, this thing has INFINITE ammo. Why don't I at least use it as a sidearm to my ostensibly-superior regular gun?".

>but they had to go and fuck that up in the rest of the series

You can kinda blame the test groups for that.
They originally had it a combination of ME1 and the rest. You could eject and cycle through heats sinks to instantly restore them, or you could wait for it to gradually cool down on its own.
The people they had play the game would constantly eject the sinks until they had only one left and just used that, completely ignoring all the ammo pickups and crates.
>>
>>44083158
>You can kinda blame the test groups for that.

For all the rough edges on the original Dragon Age, I still liked that the moral choices weren't given as specifically "good" or "bad."
Like the elves/werewolves bit.
Help the dickhead elves by butchering the rampaging werewolves and have elves in the final battle? Kill all the elves and recruit werewolves for the final battle? Kill one dickhead elf to cure werewolves? Can't remember what effect that had on the final army.
But still, both sides had merits and faults and you weren't directly penalized by the game for choosing one over the other.

This so much. They used to do this, then cut it out because I guess it gives the player too much control or something. Then you wind up with fallout 4 making the choices essentially meaningless, since you're lucky to get five words describing a conversation option, all of them express the same idea with a slightly different tone and wording, and the NPC's dialogue is often literally unchanged.

Because it made Hawke just not give a fuck. Ever. He didn't care if you were a demon, a prince, a lord, a beggar. You were going to be insulted.
Thing is, I played Humorous on my second playthrough, and it was like Hawke was in on that, that he knew he was in a rather substandard game. He knew how it all ended, how everyone in his game was being a prick. So he ran with it. Really made the whole experience enjoyable to have my Hawke along with me poking fun at everyone.

If you take DA:II as a kind of meta experience, it's a game about a story being told as a story by a consummate bullshitter and storyteller, then some of the broken bits become more amusing. Instead of it being lazy game development, it's a matter of Varric being Varric.

>>44080932

So the in front of the crotch thing is not necessarily ballock dagger related, it's just a really easily reachable and locatable place to store a knife. If it's at the side, how far along your side is it, will that split second cost you? If it's behind your back, will the time it takes to reach it cost you again?

Then as regards the design, at least in England, bollocks and phallic imagery and other signs of virility and fertility are fucking everywhere in the post-black death era. As far as I'm aware, the church is like "aww shit we need more peasants, better start and add campaign for SEX" So then you get bollock pouches and bollock daggers in 15th-century England, and I've seen a lot of pewter pilgrim badges that are just massive cocks or people bearing such appendages, or phallic necklaces and so on. Apparently that sort of thing gets you in the mood.
>>
>>44081546

>>44091263
