Discussion about Modern goes here.

Could Mardu Midrange ever be a real deck like Jund and Abzan?
Old thread here: >>44038433
>>
>>44078050
Maybe. It shares two colors with each of the decks you mentioned, so it might not be immeasurably different. I think you could just slam good BW removal/ efficient creatures into a deck and then use Oros or Gisela as your win con. I'd probably be almost more of a control deck without the counterspells, which would be kind of a problem.
I think it could be done, but there are probably JUST better options.
>>
>>44078050
Guy I know plays mardu.
Crackling Doom is really good. He uses that big vizkopa dude, I think he's shit but whatever

He's ok, but I wouldn't touch him in modern when I can run Thundermaw, Baneslayer, Grave Titan or even Stormbreath.

Blood Baron? Can't be bolted, pathed, decayed, pulsed, dismembered, detention sphered, blocked by lingering soul and so on. I have never used him but he seems fine if maybe little bit slow.

What do people think about podless pod? Just replaces pods with coco and run the combo but can also win with just value creatures that beatdown?

P&K produces 2 blockers that are bonkers against Affinity and can block and kill an Etched Champion.

P&K has some hardcore recursive value with K-Command and Rise//Fall.

It acts as a worse Grim Lavamancer without needing a graveyard and can effectively deal about 7 - 6 damage a turn if left unchecked.

Also, it's a pain in the ass to get it off the board.

It's Red's own Lingering Souls.
>>
>>44078760
This specifically for Jund, but it gives you two power in the air, which is better than two on the floor. The tokens help against Lingering Souls and can block Etched Champion. Also PnK's ability gives you reach and more removal if you need it. Jund and Grixis control getting that amount of flexibility and value makes it pretty good. Also you can Kolaghan's Command it out of your yard and get more tokens
>>
>>44078626
I have a deck similar to this, it's fun as shit to play and highly interactive, 10/10 budget deck would play again
>>
>>44078761
I don't see ho that card is good, Seek only allows you to get one card from their deck, making it essentially an okay life gain card. I guess it's a versatile SB card for artifacts, enchantments, and burn.

>Expect to be stonewalled most games and forced to dig for the combo.
What did he mean by this?
>>
>>44078050
I played Dega for a while. If you want to aggro, you just end up being a worse burn, and if you want to go midrange, you either take too much damage off bob or you run out of gas.

It needs good cheap creatures in white or black, a card advantage engine, better haymakers, or some weird attrition or combo niche.
>>
>>44079584
For example last night when I played against Melira company with 8rack his only out after a needled Qasali and Bridge was going infinite life since he had more cards in hand but just couldn't find the combo in time and I raced him with Shrieking Affliction. The deck is not a pile of answers and outs a'la Jund/Twin or so.
>>
>>44079584
Expect the be unable to win through combat damage (because the opponents blockers are bigger than your beaters) and forced to combo out to finish.

Why is it whenever there's a disagreement on something in modern the common response is "well you clearly don't play the format if you think that way".

Like, as many times as I've seen that thrown around, that would mean no one actually plays modern.

>>
>>44083911
Or surgical extraction, or thoughtseize it off the bat.
Lantern control can answer answers well enough.
>>
How good is Jund for someone that has never played Modern before? I want to play this deck because it's supposed to be an interactive midrange deck but it also seems like you need to have a good knowledge of the various decks in the format in order to play the deck well.
>>
>>44083961
kek i love peoples faces when i play restore balance and somebody attacks for lethal, only to lose every permanent they have, and then that lets my 2 nihiliths and gargadon come into play. i swear i had someone on the verge of tears once
>>
>>44083959
Ancient Grudge is honestly very annoying, but Lantern Control is stable enough to survive losing one or two artifacts.

Usually I mill the Grudge so they only get one activation, and either negate the second one with a Welding Jar or Spellskite, then get it back later with Academy Ruins.
>>
>>44084001
So that begs the question, what IS the best way to deal with lantern control? It seems like there's always answers
>>
>>44084019
Keep bridge off the field.
>>
>>44084019
There's always a potential answer, but they don't always have it.

Stony Silence is a great answer, but Lantern DOES run lots of removal for it, Nature's Claim in SB and Abrupt Decay MB.

Shatterstorm, Fracturing Gust and Creeping Corrosion are the best counters though, since you don't get to go online again as soon as the silence is gone. They also dodge Inquisition, which is the typical hand disruption.

Of course, I can still Welding Jar my bridge, then start building up again with my Academy Ruins, but hopefully the momentum gained is enough.

Or you can just run Jund and win every game.
Lantern Control vs Jund is hopeless. Oh sure, let me just mill that value card, oh wait heres another value card. Let's mill th- oh right, another value card. There's like 4 fucking cards I want Jund to draw and that's their playset of Goyf, and they too are a nightmare if I don't get my Bridge down ASAP. Even worse is that they run Kolaghans Command mainboard.

>sac fulminator mage, destroy your academy ruins
>kolaghans command, destroy your lantern, put fulminator back in my hand, oh also, fuck you
>>
>>44078050
How should a Modern Mardu deck be built then? Tokens? Burn? Land destruction? Some combination of all three? I love the Mardu colors and I want to make this work.

Why does Verdant Catacombs have to be 50$. Like really I know, I get it, but man I'm poor as fuck.
>>
>>44084109
Midrange, like a mix between Jund and Abzan Midrange. The problem I see is no goyf, and no rhino which is what makes those decks so strong.

I'd see a list being something like 4 Lingering, 3 Butchers, 4 Bolt, 4 Path, 3 Fulminator, 4 Dark Confidant, 2 Kolaghan's Command, 2 Thalia, 3 Terminate, 4 Thoughtseize, 2 Inquisition, 2 Elspeth Tirel, 1 Gideon of some kind, 1 Boros Charm, 1 Dragonlord Kolaghan, 1 Dragonmaster Outcast, 2 Ankle Shanker

Something kinda like that, that controls the board until it can get big stuff out. Maybe do something cute like Avatar of Discord and discard lingering souls or something like that. Please expand on this
>>
>>44084109
Build jund but without green?

>4x bolt
>4x thoughtseize
>3x path
>3x Terminate
>4x fulminator mage
>4x Lingering Souls
>4x bob
>2x kolaghan's command
>4x liliana of the veil
>3x crackling doom
>1x Olivia Voldaren

Really needs some 2 drops.

Also I fail to see why I'd build it with white when I'm giving up Goyf, Abrupt Decay, Scavenging Ooze and Maelstrom Pulse.

There's just not enough important white cards. The best one is Path, but red/black already has ALL the removal, they really don't need to splash white for more.
Which leaves Lingering Souls as the only other relevant card.

If you go the W/B token route, red has no place.

Find some good 2 drops and you could make it work though.
>>
>>44084306
Thalia is a no-go

You're playing extremely few creatures.
>>
>>44084306
>>44084349
So the biggest gap is a two drop? Couldn't Young Pyromancer do well here? I imagine removing your opponent's creatures while shitting out tokens would be a nice way to generate an advantage.
>>
>>44084019
extract lantern or bridge asap
>>
>>44084109
Mardu burn, like naya minus the attarkas (honestly they're nice but it's mostly the anti-lifegain that makes it meta, hello black sideboard) and with the addition of bump in the night.
Or copy the boros burn from 2015 worlds but add bumps. Mardu is viable.
>>
>>44084372
Didn't think about that

>>44084373
The thing with YP is that you basically are solitaring with it when you play it because you just play a bunch of cantrips and free spells, while Mardu really doesn't have that and it would be forced to use key instants and sorceries without the optimal targets to do so, just to try to keep up with other decks.

I think Mardu Midrange fails because green has infinitely more relevant cards than white for midrange. Like what are the mono-white white cards you can splash for? Path, lingering kind of, thalia maybe. But green has goyf and ooze and that's already incredible, not to mention the myriad of dual green/other color cards that are fantastic. Boros charm is the best white/another color card i can think of and it just doesn't work.

I think running Sultai midrange is a more interesting proposition IMO. Delver, gofy, snapcaster, thoughtseize, all work with that deck
>>
>>44084373
You won't be generating enough 1/1's to go wide unless you make a more aggro focused list.

That could work though.

>4x bolt
>4x thoughtseize
>4x path
>3x terminate
>2x blightning
>3x crackling doom
>2x kolaghan's command
>4x Monastery Swiftspear
>4x Bob
>4x Young Pyromancer
>2x Abbot of Keral Keep
>4x Boros Charm
>4x Helix Pinnacle
>4x Goblin Guide

Lingering Souls?
There's also the potential to go far more burn oriented and adding Lava Spike, Rift Bolt, Bump in the Night etc.

Obviously too many cards at the moment, but this would be adjusted down.

Mardu Burn/Aggro?
>>
>>44084485
Eh, Lightning Helix instead of Pinnacle, obviously.
>>
>>44084442
>>44084485
You could run lightning helix and Eidiolon of the great revel

burn seems a better route but then you have to ask, what does it do that other burn decks don't already do faster and more constantly?
>>
>>44078760
It single handedly wins jund and grixis match ups because it can't be neatly dealt with by one card. Even the might Kolaghan's Command leaves them with value by turning their two for one into a 2/3 for one

>>44084442
This list, minus a few shard volley/searing blaze (maybe a skullcrack or a lavamancer if you want to put those in the sideboard, or a helix but I think if you go 3 color helix gets much better)
Then add 4 bumps.
Personally I'd put blazes in the sideboard since some matchups they're a dead draw
>>
>>44084527
The list I posted above is as fast as burn gets, really the only downside is the pain an extra color deals you.
Mardu burn works, IMO boros is the best because it wins the matchup (white for the cheese, only 2 colors for land pain)

Mardu has an edge in control matchups because bump can be recurring.
>>
>>44084643
Also forgot to mention you can get away with 19 lands if you need an extra bump slot.
You get cool sideboard options (radkos charm is neat) and it's the same ol' burn with 4 extra psuedo-lavaspikes instead of, well, whatever you want to trim off.

>>
>>44085287
Gurmag not really if youre running lingering or ghast I'd figure.
Also if you're doing bitterblossom and lingering you may as well just go full BW tokens and I'd figure you have better turn 3 plays anyway. Turn 3 lingering into turn 4 butcher with vigilance and haste could be neat but it needs something to get it to that point

>>44085798
i was going to say that with faithless looting you could potentially pitch souls and bloodghast to get 3 guys to sac to demon by the time he lands. assuming you didn't want to play any removal or discard, you could do: t1 looting, t2 flashback souls t3 liliana pitching ghast, t4 flying hasty lifelink vigilant demon
or you could use turn three to remove blockers/discard opponent's removal to clear the way for a still formidable demon next turn

I would agree that bitterblossom possibly isn't worth including if its only synergy is butcher, even if a consistent token source is appealing for him

>>44086220
i've read that bloodghasts are much stronger with discard outlets but maybe it's fine if you have few other t2 plays
also perhaps consider testing Teysa, orzhov scion if you plan to stick with bitterblossom
also hero of bladehold or hero of oxid ridge might be stronger 4-drops than that sorin

the build looks cool though and i'm interested to see where it ends up
>>
I really don't see the appeal of butcher.

Why in the world would you spend turn 3 making tokens to get a turn 4 hasty creature?

It's better if you pretend the sac isn't there, unless it is to push for lethal damage with haste.

Rather play Olivia.

Now, you know what is a really good 2 drop? That new 2/3 deathtouch chick from oath.
>>
>>44086568
Yeah bitterblossom seems pretty weak, I just edited the deck and removed it and but in 2 Bladehold in over it as a better ramping play. As for Sorin, his second ability is the real reason I put him in. The emblem is really good and if you can get multiples of it your tokens become really scary. An army of 3/1 fliers is nuts and it's like having intangible virtue except it doesn't suck. I was kind of reluctant to include looting because it didn't seem that great. Maybe Confidant instead.

Butcher would be great if the abilities he could get were better, like double strike

from what i can tell about butcher, he can be a bigger life swing than siege rhino the turn he lands, but only if you have the board set up right and he doesn't immediately eat a path. Butcher's payoff is potentially greater but also less reliable. If you can stick him, a 5 power lifelink flier sounds pretty good though.
If you end up cutting the demon, then blooghast loses a lot of appeal although it remains difficult to deal with for some decks

Since this deck is inspired by jund/junk style, it seems appropriate to try a manland?
>>
>>44087475
too slow imo, especially since you need to play on curve to set up into the butcher.

You don't need to set Butcher up for a big turn 4 swing with lifelink, you just drop him and that's it because he's a huge enough threat on his own.

And for people saying Vindicate isn't in Modern, I point you to pic related.

Im building U/R boring ass basic Twin. Should I sell body parts for Misty Rainforests so I can super totally 100% always pinch that Stomping Ground to flashback Ancient Grudge in my SB, or get Polluted Deltas for ~1/3rd the cost and be set for running Grixis Twin anyways?
>>

You don't play Necrotic Sliver in any kind of tribal deck, you play him when you want to play Vindicate because that's literally what the card is.

What do you guys think of Nacatl in Burn? I've seen many lists on MtG Top8 running it. Is it really that good? I don't much like it because although it's a one mana 3/3 it doesn't do anything the turn it comes down and topdecking one can be painful but I would like other people's opinion on it as well.
>>
>>44089131
It doesn't matter how bad of a topdeck a card is in Burn so long as the card fits the gameplan of big fast damage. To that end, Nacatl is a repeatable Lightning Bolt you drop on turn 1. I've been saying Burn should run it since it was unbanned. It's also great in the mirror because it blocks Goblin Guide.

Also out of these three burn lists (spells only, always 20 lands) which seems to be the most solid

List #1
4 Goblin Guide
4 Swiftspear
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel
2 Grim Lavamancer

4 Lightning Bolt
4 Lava Spike
4 Rift Bolt
4 Skullcrack
4 Searing Blaze
4 Boros Charm
2 Lightning Helix

List #2
4 Goblin Guide
4 Swiftspear
4 Eidolon
2 Grim Lavamancer

4 Lightning Bolt
4 Rift Bolt
4 Lava Spike
4 Atarkas Command
2 Skullcrack
2 Searing Blaze
4 Boros Charm
2 Lightning Helix

List #3

4 Guide
4 Swiftspear
4 Eidolon
4 Wild Nacatl
2 Grim Lavamancer

4 Lightning Bolt
4 Lava Spike
4 Rift Bolt
4 Atarkas Command
4 Boros Charm
2 Lightning Helix
>>
>>44089182
I agree with you partially however it does matter that it's a painful topdeck
>later game opponent at 6 life
>have a bolt in hand
>need to draw another burn spell to win
>draw nacatl
>lose
In a late game situation topdecking a Nacatl can and probably will lose you the game where as if you drew one of the burn spells you cut to run nacatl (Searing Blaze, Skullcrack) you probably would have won
>>
>>44089207
I would've said the last one. Maybe swap the copies of Lightning Helix for Exquisite Firecraft.
>>
>>44089232
No, if you drew Searing Blaze there, you'd deal 4 damage. And no one builds Burn expecting to make it to the late game. In your situation, Goblin Guide would provide the exact same situation of only being able to kill your opponent next turn. Should you cut Goblin Guide too then?
>>
>>44088618
Any info where to find him nowadays? dont want to order of some random chinks on aliexpress
>>
>>44089207
The second one
>>
>>44089247
Goblin has haste.
As a burn player I'm not a fan of the nactyls, it's like a vexing devil but with 1 less power.
Also doesn't do shit the turn it comes out, requires a t1 stomping t2 foundry (6 damage), and has the same downside as vexing devil (they can bolt it and go tit for tat)
It's a fine aggro card but I prefer my burn creatures to be guides, monks, a lavamancer or 2 and eidelons.
>>
>>44089430
Boros burn or bust, boys.
Maybe keep a single stomping ground in there for destructive revelry if you want maximum value. Nactyl a shit.
>>
>>44089430
You didn't read my post fully. In your situation where your opponent is on 6 life and you have a Bolt in hand, Goblin Guide also does not get the job done instantly, yet you use this as a reason for Wild Nacatl not being suited to the deck. If you prefer to not use it, fine, but there's no questioning that it fits what a Burn deck wants to do.
>>
>>44082244
PtE son. Immortal is just a word.
>>
>>44089459
Nacatl is not a good card but you'd still be in Naya colors for mainboarded Atarkas Command and sideboard Revelry
>>
>>44089465
The thing is, theres not a single reason you would run nacatl over vexing devil
>>
>>44078363
needs atarka's command and electrolyse
>>
>>44089497
Permanents are a repeatable source of damage, Vexing Devil is just 4 damage for R.
>>
>>44083992
GBx decks are very simple to pilot and it doesn't take long to master if you play enough games. Targeted discard goes a long way in helping you know what and when to play it.
>>
>>44089504
You have: 4/3 on board for 1 mana, or 4 dmg for 1 mana.
Nacatl is 3/3 on board turn 2 for 6 life.
I dont know what kind of decks you are playing against, but usually decks can do something against beaters on turn 2 or 3, the strength of guides and swiftspears is they have haste and can scale
>>
>>44089531
If Burn cared about its own life total, it wouldn't be running Eidolon. I'm not going to bother getting into the Vexing Devil debate, because you're already basically arguing that people should be mainboarding it.
>>
>>44089558
You misunderstand what im saying. The problem is vexing devil is better than nacatl, and that already doesnt see play.
I know burn doesnt care about life, but with eidolon youre trading in 6 to 8 damage for 4 to 6 damage to them. With nacatl youre trading 6 damage for a 3/3 creature which just gets instantly bolted or chump blocked
>>
>>44089465
I wasn't the guy who posed the 6 life question. How about a 1 life situation?
I like to think of burn as a combo deck, where you try to count to 20 by turn 4 at the latest, give or take. Each card should do a minimum of 3, with guides and monks usually putting out an average of 4 damage assuming you drop them the first turn.
Trust me I literally play burn a shitton, and while nactyls can work (they're in every zoo deck) board presence doesn't mean shit all for burn, it's a race to the finish and no haste means one more turn for your opponent. It's just not worth the slots IMO, I'd rather extra shard volleys, but don't let me stop you from doing it since many players go naya nactyl burn with success.
>>44089473
Attarkas are cool and fun to use but I'm stuck on boros.

>>44078976

>>
>>44089531
vexing devil is pretty much trash because it gives the opponent a choice in dealing with it. (i.e. it will only ever do 4 damage against a player who knows what he's doing)
>>
>>44089207
Second one is what I've found myself running often. The extra lifegain prevention is great and Nacatls are too bad for my taste.

Although personally I run 2 Blaze 2 Shard Volley.

Mind if you post your mana base for this deck?
>>
>>44088583
>own everything in Modern bar the enemy fetchlands, Liliana and the Future Sight lands
>ordered 4 Mixed Sets last week

Can't wait. I might also grab a few Legacy sets if I am satisfied with the Mixed Sets.

To be honest I really prefer having the real cards: they go up in value unlike fakes and they have zero risk at banning me anywhere (although who will suspect fake fetchlands when the guy has real MM2 Goyfs with the stamp). Once Wizards reprints the fetchlands in Standard and the other cards in MM3, I will buy them from them.
>>
>>44089459

Its gimmick is pretty much mana ramp and swing with tokens+joraga warcaller buffering but then I noticed lys alana bowmaster and greatbow doyen.

Should I splash lys alana and doyen in there for added ending potential or just keep the deck light (around 60 cards)?

if you're the one playing path, you're either on junk or some kind of UWx (jeskai/esper), so you either want to be outside of burn range while your own threats present a clock of some kind.

Even in UWx, taking licks until you can wrath means the other guy can just kill you with double boros charm, so you have to be very careful, so pathing the nacatyl can still be correct

Yes. In terms of mana production they're slightly superior since you can pay colorless costs for free with them but obviously upgrade to the Canopies after you get to know the deck and feel it's worth the extra 200 bucks

URdelverfag here, any cards that are good at refilling like cruise?
Any new cards under the radar?
i've got a semi-boner for Magmatic Insight but I'm too embarrased to tell anyone

http://mtgtop8.com/event?e=10388&d=259480&f=MO
This guy still rep'd it pretty well so I wouldn't say it's total shit.
>>
>>44101287
*edit I mean he rep'd delver not that meme card, pardon me gents

>2 banana captchas in a row
Its like tasigur is calling my name
>>
>>44101287
magmatic insight doesn't really appeal to me because it doesn't really net you any cards, and you run so few lands that you really never flood on them and can be a dead card sometimes

you could get really cheeky with quicken + days undoing if you really want all the draw
>>
>>44101287
>are there any cards that are so good they need to be restricted all the way down to vintage
lolno
If you still want to play delver though, I think RUG delver may be alright
>>
>>44101358
I don't wanna get goyfs anon, I need to eat!
>>44101354
Days undoing seems neato but I don't like how it refills their hand too when it comes to delver. I'd rather they be topdrawing :o

I think the uncommon symbol is what fuels my boner...
>>
>>44101508
>I'd rather they be topdrawing
Then you want to be playing Jund.
>>
>>44101508
>I don't wanna get goyfs anon, I need to eat!
Funny story, I actually went a day and a half without food once just so I could buy a few cards to finish a deck to compete in a tournament and it was totally worth it
>>
>>44101572
How much do you spend when you eat?
>>
So I am running a 4 color coralknight deck that is more of a hatebears/control shell with 4 bolt, 4 helix, and 4 path and 3 collected company.

Do you see how one or two young pyromancers might be good for the deck? I have Voice, scooze, and pridemage already in my two drop slot, but I have room for a few more creatures. Any thoughts?
>>
>>44101600
I needed to go grocery shopping so it was like 150 and I hadn't gotten my paycheck at that point so it wasn't that big of a deal. Usually I eat about 7 dollars worth of food a day
>>
>>44101624
Do you have Goyfs?
>>
>>44101624
'no'
>>
BW Tokens guy here
What removal should I run? I have 2 Zealous Persecution, 4 path to Exile, and 2 Murderous Cut at the moment
>>
>>44101685
Dismember.
>>
>>44101685
Dismember is always good, maybe another cut and you'd be fine.
>>
>>44101700
>>44101708
Ive found that going to 11-13 turn 2 often loses me the game which is why I dont use the card
Any other options?
>>
>>44101646
$7 of food a day?
Good lord man, i feel bad for ya.
>>
>>44101659
unfortunately not. It is budget.
>>
>>44101740
You're playing black, you can hardcast it.

>>44101747
im not even poor
>>
>>44101740
You hard cast it like a terminate, but it gives you the option of stopping a turn 2 infect win or something like that, as well as only needing one mana open to stop a clutch deceiver exarch. The -5 power is relevant sometimes too, killing a 5/6 goyf with a single token and having the token live.
>>
>>44101559
If I were to go jund I may as well to rug delver or tarmotwin or something. undoing has a home anon but not in mah delver list.
My boner for magma insight is fading since I haven't gotten snaps yet and I just realized that having more than 3 mana isn't that bad (snap an electrolyze)

I do feel like UR delver is in a pretty spot, on the bright side losing cruise means more snap/lavamancer fuel (who am i kidding rip cruise, cruise lite when?)
>>
>>44101988
I play legacy Delver, UR Delver is barely strong enough to be around tier 2 even with true name nemesis
Every time I play that deck in modern, it feels fucking woeful. No brainstorms, no Ponder, no Wasteland or Stifle, no force of will or Daze. You lose to every deck. I played against it with a Tokens list, the guy was forced to hold his hand to deal with Zealous Persecution that he revealed turn 1. It loses to other Izzet shell decks unless the player is very good, it only does ok vs Combo decks because it is a bad tempo deck. The only reasonable version of Delver in modern is grixis, because its creatures are mostly immune to removal and it plays the tempo game with more resilience then UR does.
>>
>>44102074
>Zealous Persecution
Sending shivers down my spine.
Swiftspears help, as does forked bolt.
You could run Shoal as a weaker force of will but I find in modern cards like force are 2-1 card avantage-wise. In legacy it's so damn worth but in modern you could be discarding a roast to counter a goyf.
I find that rug and grixis delver just crammed powerhouse creatures in to fill the power vacuum (and it works)

What better way to deal with a tasigur or a goyf than a goyf or a tasigur?
I'm still convinced UR works, you can answer their shit all day long (until you run out I guess) while your monk/delver/pyro does work.
Snaps help provide the value that cards like Kcommand take away from you

Still looking for the best blue "gas" card (not days undoing!!)
>>
>>44096827
Soulflayer is bad in Standard. The card is just bad, honestly.
>>
Why is the G/R Tron the most popular tron? Most of the decks are only running red for the Pyroclasm main . Meanwhile, white has much better sideboard cards, and Path to Exile. Is there seriously no other color that has a card that does a better job than Pyroclasm, which is dodged by anything past 2 toughness?
>>
>>44102716
I guess they like that it stops people going wide. A t2 goblin deck could rush a tron player but a pyro will shut the deck down. They can deal with the big creatures when their eldrazi come out
>>
>>44102074
I play Grixis delver and it's so much fun. Turn 2 Tasigur is so nice.

>>44102276
Vapor Snag could do the trick, especially for Tasigur, but I am afraid that's the best option.
>>
>>44102716
It's because it's faster than other versions of tron. Plus it used to be a relatively cheap, but long gone are those days.
>>
>>44102716
Pyroclasm can be a 2 mana board wipe. Most creatures in modern die to it. Really helps against affinity, delver, infect, burn, etc.
GR assembles the fastest, too.
>>
>>44102867
I run a single snag for da playz

http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&color=+@(+[R]+[U])&format=+[%22Modern%22]&type=%7C[Instant]%7C[%22Sorcery%22]&cmc=+%3C=[4]

Look at all these awesome cards guys and tell me which ones aren't complete shit pls and ty

Definitely gonna put a swerve/redirect in the sideboard vs burn, what a dank card.
>>
>>44102966
every single one of those except izzet charm and electrolyze are bad

and izzet charm isn't even great
>>
>>44102966
in delver theyre all pretty much trash except electrolyze
>>
Why have junk and Jund fallen off? I'm looking at stats from the last month and they aren't that popular, they're being played as frequently as tier 2 decks.
>>
>>44103008
Counterflux is good sb
Swerve looks cool
Ebin XP-iriment looks cool
Essense backlash, i dunno, seems like the decks that you'd want it against all have uncounterable beefsticks but looks cool
Mindswipe and Schismotivate look baller but are win more cards imo, but damn that flavor is nice. I hope they had a good home in standard.
Stitch in time is not very much not shit half the time
>>
>>44103183
Anyways a flux in the board is nice

I'll probably not try essence, is kinda win-more (if you counter a beefstick that's usually good enough so I won't get greedy with that card), so shit/10

Swerve is still dank imo imma test it vs burn

Stitch for casual play or for grand prix cheesing

And a single epic mbc (yeah it's shitter but look how great it looks)
>>
>>44103162
I have no clue why. With Splinter Twin on the rise, it should be going up too.
Even at locals, it's been pretty tough lately despite how many Twin decks there are. I always get paired against Tron.
>>
Can I kick something that was cast via Cascade?
>>
>>44104012
yes, because you're still casting the spell
>>
>>44104108
Bitchin
>>
>>44104111
if you just put it onto the battlefield though, then you cant, like from a show and tell effect
>>
>>44102716
Modern is fast format and you need a relatively solid shell to assemble tron turn 3 into karn.
>>
>>44094605

There's three different Elf decks in Modern.

Aggro Elves, Combo Elves and CoCo Elves. Aggro Elves plays things like Joraga Warcaller and even non-Elves like Leatherback Baloth.

Combo Elves is playing around by abusing Cloudstone Curio and Heritage Druid+Nettle Sentinel/Dwynen's Elite/Elvish Visionary to get to the wincon.

CoCo Elves plays with Chord of Calling and Collected Company while sometimes splashing for white or black and plays like a middle ground between the two other decks, it can have both an aggro and a combo plan and plays a few more utility creatures as part of a sort of toolbox answer approach with things like Reclamation Sage, Eternal Witness, Scavenging Ooze, Spellskite etc.

Birds of Paradise being able to cast a turn 2 Liliana makes it worth considering in some numbers in place of Noble Hierarch. The Loam, Raven's Crime, Tec Edge/Ghost Quarter package is also a powerful engine in a lot of fair matchups.
>>
>>44104262
Post aggro elves list
>>
>>44104453
If you fetched right in Junk you could cast a t2 Lili with Nobles.
It's really not hard.
>>
What is the melira deck called? I'm trying to find good lists
>>
>>44104488
You mean Pod?/CoCo?
>>
>>44104500
Well pod is gone and I'm not sure if I'm even thinking of a real deck

Combos with finks
>>
>>44104488
Finks+sac outlet (viscera seer)
>>
>>44104457

Don't have one here at the moment but from what I recalled most of the Elves used overlapped anyway aside from a few things. I do remember it running a shitload more Elf lords compared to the other versions like Imperious Perfects and Elvish Champions maindeck and side.

Plays like 4x Elvish Mystic+Llanowar Elves+Elvish Archdruid but if i recall it also played Joraga Treespeaker and Joraga Warcaller. Some lists played Rancor and most would play Garruk Wildspeaker as well. Frankly speaking the Aggro Elves versions haven't been doing as well as the Combo and CoCo variants.
>>
>>44102716

Because it was designed to prey upon Jund decks. It was originally mono G but found itself having a horrible time against aggro so it added the R for being able to run Pyroclasm and other damage board wipes.
>>
>>44102966

Inside Out is a strictly worse Twisted Image but not too bad regardless.
>>
>>44104488

It's like called a bunch of different shit but i've heard it being referred to as Anafenza's Company or Podless Pod or Abzan Company etc.
>>
Has anyone bought Travis Woo's deck building book? I think Travis is a good guy and means well and kinda just want to support the way he's doing things.
>>
>>44104884
What's the point...?

You are much better off finding dedicated forum (probably other than mtgsalvation) to find people who know something about deckbuilding and see those guys' ideas.
>>
>>44105308
Idk to support the guy. Love Woo brews personally. Always does cool archtypes.

>>44104655
Wow I didn't even know that card existed. Talk about a good way of dealing with Birds of Paradise. If jeskai accendancy were everywhere I'd totally rep that card.
