Each province (colored area) on this island needs 1 city, but I'm not sure where to place them.
I would appreciate if /tg/ could help me choose where each city should go.

When I draw maps 70% of the cities are built on bodies of water.
Large mountain range with only one valley going through it? -Build a city.
Naturally defensible bay on the coast? -Build a city.
River in the middle of a desert (like the Nile)? -Build a city.
Defensible yet pleasant mesa/plateau? -Build a city.
Strait/crossing where trade can be cut off easily? -Build a city.

This too. Provinces are based on geography. Show us where the mountains and rivers are and we can point out the best locations.

Alright, I haven't really thought this through. I'm too retarded to create a realistic map and don't have any geographic features. Is this fixable or should I learn how to make a proper map?

Either
A) Throw two random mountain ranges and four rivers at the map and call it a day. The players probably won't care too much.
or
B) Spend eight hours researching and making a map in photoshop.
or
C) Steal a map. Like this one which is a "terriformed" map of Mars. It looks cool and you could do some fun stuff with it.

put them down next to wherever you think a source of water in that region would make sense. If there is no water in that zone that's easily accessible, then there is no city and the place is a badlands.
