I see what you did there.

>albatross

You know, that reminds me. Tell me about your favorite birds, /jc/. From this or any other reality.
>>
...let's try that again.

Have we ever talked about how powerful Eliatropes can be? In the finale of Wakfu's 2nd season Qilby punched Yugo hard enough into a planet that it SPLIT INTO TWO. Then all the other Eliatropes chased him around for a while-and blasted through another planet getting to him.

What's the consensus here? Are eliatrope-native planet just super flimsy, or are eliatrops just that damn powerful?
>>
>>43954778
My favorite bird is a Quetzal.
>>
>>43954778
Turkey.

No reasons why really, it just tastes delicious.

>>43954776
This might be obvious in retrospect, but which Psyker power from A Grand Day Out would you say deals the most damage in an attack pound for pound? Telekinesis, or Pyrokinesis?
>>
>>43954792
Weren't they also really small planets, too? More like decorations for the weird other dimension than real planetoids.
>>
>>43954778
My cute little love birds. They're called that because they feed on it.
>>
>>43954776
Based off of what you’ve written and a conversation I swore we’ve had but that I cant find on the archive, here is how I understand the Winds of Magic.

If you find yourself in a situation where magic cannot be used, you can create the conditions that allow magic to be cast, ie if you’re in a anti-magic zone you can nullify that effect, albeit briefly.

I am under the impression that the WoM perk is /not/ required in order to cast magic in the WHF, or to use WHF magic outside of that jump.

I looked through the archive, as I swore we’ve had this conversation before, but I couldn’t find anything. I’m using the name I’m using to make this easier to search for next time this question comes up.

I hate to ask, because I know you get this all the time, but it was a subject of some debate a week or so ago.
>>
>>43954840
Maybe? They did look like they were made of rock, though. And they were definitely bigger than the 'tropes, though. And likewise I have no idea how to interpret Qilby just...grabbing one and flinging it with his wakfu arm.

I think the one Yugo was blasted through might've been hollow, I don't remember
>>
>>43954778
I'm a falcon kind of guy.
But Merlins are pretty cool too.

Thunderbirds are best cryptid birds.
>>
>>43954792
Well, they can be, eventually.

Quilby has untold thousands of years of experience with his powers, whereas Yugo had thousands of Eliatropes working with him, all of whom were somewhere near his own level.

He also accidentally into godhood in the OVA, even breaking time and making a new race in his own image in both the Dofus Era and the Wakfu Era.

So with enough time, or enough of them working in tandem... yeah.

They've got the purest connection to the driving life energy of the universe out of any race in the setting - after all, the goddess Eliatrope is herself the incarnation of Wakfu, just like the Great Dragon is the incarnation of Stasis.
>>
>>43954837
>pound for pound? Telekinesis, or Pyrokinesis?
Well, one of those deals damage primarily through applied force and one through heat. So, I'd guess Pyrokinesis.
>>
>>43954877
Let me guess-they look like fat kekoos? Because if any bird could evolve to feed off love, it'd be those little assholes
>>
>>43954778
Without a doubt, my favourite bird character will always be Skarlath. He's the sidekick to the main hero of Outcast of Redwall, and his job is basically to be awesome and too good for this sweet earth.

His introduction is basically him tag teaming with a berserker and keeping up, except being way more tactical since he's sane, being fucking terrifying to his enemies, and when he's off the battlefield he makes preserves and cheeses.

Then when his berserking bro gets an army he decides to be a scout and also take out targets of opportunity. Someone gets a lucky shot though. And then makes the stupid ass mistake to wave his dead body in front of the berserker. (This turns out poorly for the bad guy. He is surprised by this.)
>>
>>43954930
Well they didn't BEFORE that suggestion.
It wasn't really a question of evolution, though.
>>
>>43954837
Pyrokinesis starts strong and remains strong, while telekinesis starts out much weaker, along the lines of 'throw heavy thing at stuff', increases as the size of the object you can throw does and then right at the end there's an incredible jump in damage potential when you start messing with stuff on the atomic level. Think the skill in parasite eve ps1 vidyer game that lets wossname trigger pocket atomic detonations.
>>
>>43954778
I'm fond of those early proto-birds from when they were still mostly dinosaurs. A lot of them had four wings, since their legs were feathered and could pivot pretty far. It's debated whether they actually flapped them or just used them as control surfaces, but either way I bet it was cute.
>>
>>43954837
Pyrokinesis is the ATTACK!!one power, but Telekinesis has many more tactical options outside of game rules. That said, I think Pyrokinesis gets to 'burn the soul itself' levels so...
>>
>>43954930
*kekoos, fuck

>>43954907
I see. But...not enough to crack an Earth-sized planet, would you say? I never could figure out how the hell to interpret dem finale eps, nor how Yugo got up and kept fighting after being smacked into a planet hard enough to crack it.
>>
>going psyker
>not choosing based Biomancy
It's like you plebs don't want to follow in the footsteps of da based Emprah.
>>
>>43954883
The only notes I can find just say 'fuck it, skill lets you turn a nonmagic setting into one with magic forever' so yeah, I think the way you've summed it up there is the way everyone can assume it works.
>>
>>43954971
Damn.

I know it would probably end in mutually assured drestruction but would you say in a battle between a top-level pyrokinetic and a top-level telekinetic, the TK guy'd have a slight advantage?

>>43954985
I was thinking of "burn the soul itself", yeah. Never did figure out if all Warp fire did that or just Tzeentch's particular brand.

Come to think of it-Tzeentch's flames mutate things but do the other gods' flames do anything special? Can you develop your own effects and themes for your warp fire if you practice enough?
>>
>>43954837
They are psyker powers from 40k. Since they are not given to be by the benefactor you should not touch either. Stay away from those, implants, mental downloads, and just about everything else available in that jump. Accepting them is a trap. The whole universe is a trap. Not saying it is the jump's fault, the setting is just a trap.
>>
>>43955050
It's more of a 'nobody knows who won, but they do know nothing will ever grow on the spot the battle was fought ever again' fight.

FUCKING CAPTCHA HOW CAN I SELECT THE FUCKING PALM TREES WHEN HALF THE IMAGES ARE OFF THE SCREEN?

lol.

Okay, thanks Babs, and thanks again for the sweet ass jumps. Here, have a picture of Best Ambassador having fun.
>>
>>43955108
There are...two ways you could approach this. One of them is that they aren't psyker powers from 40k, just powers that produce the same effects using an ambiguous power source. So the 40k is a "gauge" for how powerful the abilities are to begin with, but they aren't limited to the 40k limitations (Once you start enhancing stuff with perks you'll definitely break the 40k limit). This is probably the safer, and more commonly adopted interpretation, since...it doesn't involve the Warp.

The other interpretation...is the one you have, which you're well familiar with.

If Babylon wants to dictate one of the two as the official one, by all means, but I don't think anyone has made any official statement regarding it.
>>
>>43955131
You pay CP simply because a mechanic was needed stop people from going "I get everything ever" All of the options specifically come from in universe sorces. A staff, heresy gifts, the captain, and the houses. Not from the benefactor. All are earned in universe, not given before.
>>
>>43955130
By the way, I'm curious-exactly what would the 4 psyker blade rolls ASA got give you?
>>
>>43955255
>Plants
>Animals
What
>>
>>43955279
Or you could say that they get 'adopted' and become as true perks after LoT.
>>
>>43955033
Quick question, does Free Mage Lord apply to one wind and no more, one wind and then discounts on other wind purchases, free all winds, or somewhere in between?
>>
>>43955130
Hey Babs, what would the other alpha level powers be comparable to?

I'm talking telepathy, divination and biomancy.

Also, is it possible to build the ship upgrades with the right tech perks and backgrounds from the other WH40k jumps.
>>
>>43955108
>>43955318
It's been stated on multiple occasions by both 40k creators that choosing psyker is not ipso facto a trap option. Yes, it's 40k so if you act like a dumbass or an unadulterated shonen fucktard it's going to bite you in the ass.

However, psyker is not a trap option regardless of the TT mechanics of 40k rpg.
>>
>>43955355
I meant

>animals a shit
>plants a best
>inb4 funghi
>inb4 viruses
>>
>>43955423
In the other 40k jumps I agree that it wouldn't be. My point is that in a normal jump you have a safety net of sorts with it. In LoT it isn't there, it isn't a normal jump. Because it breaks all the conventions of jumping you are subject to the actual rules and lore of the universe. All psyker powers are technically the Warp in you skull. If you wank something different, then good for you. I said it is the universe itself that makes it a trap. The jump just left you to the whims of the universe.
>>
>>43955512
I don't think anyone can claim fungi are the best. Not when yeast infections are a thing.
>>
>>43955519
Have you ever thought that you may be extremely autistic, annoying, and prone to intentionally interpreting things as literally as possible in the way that makes things the worst for you, ignoring any suggestions or belief to the contrary by other individuals, for no real reason? And that this is bad?
>>

3MB, 427x220px
>>43955241
You seem upset.
>>
>>43955519
Also psyker powers aren't 'the warp in your skull', it's simply you manipulating the warp and the materium themselves through force of will. The reason demons will bust out of your head is because you have a strong, visible soul they can easily find and they use your meat body as a portal. They can technically do it with anyone, psyker or not, if they can find them.
>>
>>43955547
So should we follow what is written in jumps, or just apply our own rules/interpretation? I constantly see people shitting on others because they go against what a jumps says for every jump but LoT. Why?
>>
>>43955519
Just canon that the Warp doesn't exist then. Problem solved. It's your chain, no one will know any better if you make adjustments for something that suits you better.
>>
>>43955598
Everyone else isn't as much of an autistic rules lawyer as you.
>>
>>43955519
>In LoT it isn't there, it isn't a normal jump.
Yes. Yes it is. It has a few different mechanics, but it's just another jump. A well written jump, an awesome jump, but it's just a jump.

>Because it breaks all the conventions of jumping
No it doesn't. There are other narrative driven jumps. It shares some mechanics with gauntlets.

>you are subject to the actual rules and lore of the universe.
No more or less than you would be in other worlds.

>>43955547
Agreed. It's either genuine autism, which I know we joke about but I've run into a few autistics here. One time I had to explain ironic humor. Literally had to parse out, line by line, what ironic humor was.

Anyway it's either that or 40k is his waifu setting and its viriginity must be preserved.

>>43955598
You're the one adding rules to the jump. Nothing you're saying is written in the LoT jump, nothing you're saying is a ruling given by a jump maker.
>>
>>43955630
No actually I think 40k is mostly shit.

Everything about in universe sources that I brought up is in fact all of that good writing in the Jump. The convention broken is the opening scenes spelling out that the benefactor is gone. Everyone just chooses to wank it into not mattering. The jumps is well written, and the narrative is fine. I don't even have a problem with the whole deadlight thing. What it comes down to is that we scream follow the rules in every other jump, but ignore what the jump says in LoT. Unless the maker officially rules that the benefactor is giving you the shit, then it is just wanking the way you want it.
>>
>>43955828
You just sound like someone with a lot of salt and little understanding of other peoples' thinking process.
>>
>>43955828
>The convention broken is the opening scenes spelling out that the benefactor is gone.
Here's the problem, bub. All we know is what's written in the doc; that's it. To my knowledge the jump maker hasn't ruled on the meta aspects of the jump as they related to Jump-Chan. So in as much as you're accusing others of wankery, you're doing it yourself.

You're reading into the narrative, you're making assumptions that may or may not be true, and you're passive-aggressively attempting to make a ruling on it. That's why you're getting shit for this. Honestly, you need to work on your reading comprehension, your arguments come across as an inability to distinguish between narrative-abiguity and personal interpretation.
>>
>>43955828
How is what you're doing not fanwank as well? Can you point to the text where it explicitly states what you're arguing for?

Call her The Lady.

She isn't giving you the shit.

>The Rewards of Heresy
There are a great many things you can obtain here. Your immortal, eternal soul is a small price to pay for such things, is it not?

>You also have access to Grigobretz private Chirugeon, a pre-heresy autodoc capable of granting a number of very useful implants.

>Beyond that, the Staff holds power of Wyrds, those blessed or gifted with psychic power. When wielded
it allows you to distort or even nullify the psychic powers of others, though as with all artifacts of this
sort, care should be taken when wielding it against powerful foes, for the staff may decide they are a
more worthy wielder than you.

>The Merchant Guilders offer more than neural editing - some people are oddly unwilling to allow
ancient, poorly understood machines of dubious maintenance to work on their brains. For these
people, there is a healthy list of cybernetics available for purchase.

>As well as the usual
collection of rare and unique artifacts the Guilders House also has an ancient information
dissemination system that can be used to upload skills and abilities to a persons mind...

Everything you get is from in universe, and not the benefactor. That has been my entire argument. It is written into the header of every section.

I woke up in a cabin on the mountain near the university. Unfortunately, i seemed to be sharing the mountain with the...Samedi? They're the pricks in green who arent hopped up on steroids, right?

Anyway, i ate good that night. After that, i surfed through their memories to see if the Boss had woken up yet. Apparently, the Boss had, and she went after the Ronin first. I was too late to save Aisha, unfortunately. She stopped focusing on them after she killed their second in command, Jyunichi, and turned her attention to the Samedi.

Which was why they were here. Apparently the Boss liked to camp out here on the weekend, and the idiots thought they could take her out. This new information on hand, i decided to wait.

Free Stuff: Run-Down Farm 1 Acre, Single Room House, Barn, Chicken Coop, Well, Farm Tools
Location: Mineral Town
Origin: Drop-In, Age: 20
Perks: Green Thumb (-50), Who Needs Water (-300), Farmer Dolittle (-300), Blessing of the Goddess (-300), Gaia Speaks to Me (-150)
Items: Seeds Galore (-100), House Expansion (-200), Blue Feather (-200)
Drawbacks: Hard Work (+600)

I still have the Safehouse from Infamous and it's not defined in any way, so in all future jumps the Safehouse is a rundown 1 acre farm just outside of town.

Anyway, I'm down to bodymod and stuck doing farmwork, but I am damn good at farmwork. The digimon have taken a liking to raising farm animals, so Chimmy and I work the fields, and occasionally we monster our way around town. The locals were a bit freaked out, but we could talk and sell strange fruit that cures poisons or confusion and buy eggs. It was a hard ten years, farmwork sucks, but we get along better when we work at mundane jobs. Fighting monsters turns me sullen and Chimmy into a demanding asshole. Regular life we get along, make pizza, plant the berries from Pokemon and Sugarbowl, it's not bad.

I don't really have a clue why Jumpchan wants to watch us farm, though. She doesn't seem too annoyed by it though.

Some questions for Stupid Dog re: Supernatural-

If Metatron pulls off his ritual, do you lose access to On The Wings Of A Prayer if you bought if for CP? Would your other powers be weakened?

Since the Knights of Hell were apparently created from the power of the Mark (and thus indirectly from the Darkness) whereas the Anti-Christ was produced from the merger of a human and an angel soul, what would you say could happen if one were attempt to use soulforging to fuse the Knight of Hell Abaddon's soul with that of a human?

Finally, does Smiting have to take place at touching range, or if you have the means to extend/make projectiles of your soul can you project the effect through things like the high energy reactions created by an AT-Field?

Cut him a check. He does way more good than bad. Superman then blunders his way into destroying half the city and he's seen as the second coming.
>>
>>43963526
You ever hear that theory about how in All Star Superman the character of Leo Quintum is Lex Luthor from the future, come back in time to try to make up for all the evil he did? There are a lot of hints that there's some darkness to Quintum that he's trying to move past, and a LOT of parallels drawn between him and Luthor. He even says at one point "I'm trying to escape from a doomed world too, Superman... it's called the past." The theory isn't perfect, but I think it's kind of neat. It means that Superman truly won his struggle with Luthor, not just stopped him from doing wrong but convinced him to do good.
>>
>>43963543
Or he could launch humanity into a golden age. Or he could set up a system which automatically redirects Darkseid'a tubes into a black hole. I'm not particularly picky about what kind of heroism he goes for.
>>
>>43963526
It's more than that, though. Luthor's an egotist. His desire to prove humanity is superior to Superman is rooted in his desire to prove that Luthor is superior to Superman. It's just that Lex sees himself as the embodiment of all that humanity should be, so he tends to conflate those two ideas. What you'd need to do, to get Luthor to be a hero, is to help him work past his self-esteem issues. Only then can he accept that it doesn't matter whether he's better than Superman, and be content changing the world in his own way.
>>
>>43963263
I took the perk that makes me a genius, so I probably have long, in-depth arguments with him pretty frequently about Superman and evil, those types of things.
>>
>>43963702
That sounds like a lot more effort than just convincing him that he should be going about proving himself in a more constructive and more effective way. I mean, there's a lot of people in Arkham who need some serious help as well, and I can't devote my entire time to one guy.
>>
>>43963951
Well, then, be prepared for his inevitable backslide towards villainy.
>>
>>43963951

A Good Lex Luthor is about a thousand times more valuable than any Arkham inmate.

Probably better to just kill him or soulbind him or something though, because he's a massive dickhead and it's rarer for him to change his ways than it is for Reed Richards to be useful.

Er, visit Pokemon Monster Fungeon?

And a question of my own: So there's a perk in Tower of God that halves the power of magic inflited upon you. And Dogs of War has Blessing of the Lady, which has a 70% protection from magic.

Now my question is: Exatly what does being 120% proof against magic entail? Because I'm a genetic freak, and I'm not normal. The numbers don't lie, small joe, and they spell disaster for you at Sacrifice
>>
>>43966631
I think that would be multiplicative, not additive. So you'd be affected only by 50% of the magic, which then has only 30% of its normal effectiveness. So you'd be 85% resistant, not 120%.
>>
>>43966631
I think it'd look a lot like 85% resistance to magic.
>>
>>43966631
It entails only beings far above your level being able to harm you with magic, so as always stay out of high level areas when underleveled. Or you know it ends up working out to be 85% resistance.

10. Avatar: The Last Airbender
Origin: Nomad, Age: 11, Water Tribe
Location: Big Trouble in Fire Nation Caldera

Items: Waterskins, Master's Scroll (-200), Original Master (-200)
Drawbacks: Pacifist (+200), Into The Inferno (+300)

Upon arrival I am nearly immediately surrounded by several dozen of their best firebenders and Azulon is taking the time to monologue before killing me. I can't for the life of me figure out why. Did he just somehow not see Ravemon Burst Mode coming? or MetalEtemon?

Chimmy bitches me out for running when he could have taken them without much problem. I freeze him with waterbending, he uses flamewheel to escape, the process repeats itself until he runs out of PP, at which point I paralyze him and explain the drawbacks I took. He asks why he couldn't have stayed and I can't think up an answer to that. I blanked. I fucking hate that monkey's smug I'm Right face.

I show him the master's scroll and he brings up that he could've taught me Bagauzhang. Then he really looks at it and starts laughing, before organizing the teaching of the Digimon.

Chimmy quickly becomes something of a hero to the war effort, a rebellious "firebender" who nearly killed Azulon, his two spirit allies, and the water bending healer that changed his allegiance. All children, mind, but pulling a lot of surprise victories. I took part in strategy meeting and cared for the wounded.

That lasted until the Avatar showed up and immediately recognized the airbending that boosted Chimmy's flames. I explained the situation nearly honestly, leaving out the powers from most of the other worlds. Falcomon chimed in with how we arrived. It was nice to meet someone with some sympathy for pacifism in a time of war.

Three key ones I can think of would be Generic Fighting and taking the elemental ability to be immune to your element of choice along with being able to make clones of from your element.

Next up would be One Piece and getting a Devil Fruit for lighting so you could be living lightning.

Then Pokemon and going as an Electibuz or something to be powered up by lighting. Also gives you Same Type Attack Bonus.

Maybe hit up D&D and becoming an Elementalist? Possibly the Van Hellsing and Girl Genius Jumps for creative stuff to DO with lighting/electricity?

>>
>>43968693
I'm pretty sure the answer is always going to be something from Toriko. "Monsters that taste delicious" is kind of that world's thing, you know?
>>
>>43968848
It's not just monsters anymore.

They've started going into the fucking afterlife where your Appetite is your Soul.

As in, weaker Appetites just fade out after reaching the realm of souls, while stronger Appetites thrive.

(Not including the universe's origin via the Gourmet Big Bang and the fact that we're going to see the planet being prepared as a bloody main dish at some point.)
>>
>>43968931
Isn't that planet several times the size of earth?

>>
>>43968971

>>
>>43968953
I think it's 600 some odd times the size of earth, or some other ridiculous number. Everything in Toriko is ridiculous.
>>
>>43968511
After a small discussion, which consisted of me saying "I'm a wizard who wants to work for you." and her saying "Fuck yes!", my career as a gangster started.

We focused on the Samedi and eliminating their drug trade for a few months, and i ate that fucker Mr. Sunshine. Took a while because he somehow kept generating more blood, but i eventually poked him with enough holes that he lost more then he generated.

We stopped focusing on them and returned our attention back to the Ronin. We gave Shogo his Texas Funeral, and i had Caim go handle his father. To my surprise though, Caim started to lose and i had to rescue him..
>>
>>43969390
Some fun figures based on this line of discussion, and based on Galactus as well. https://allthecalculations.wordpress.com/2013/07/09/on-galactus-and-the-size-requirements-to-eat-a-planet/

We know in Toriko that there is demon which can eat Toriko's sun like a cookie. So evidently, he should be able to eat Toriko's planet like a meatball. If we falsely correlate based on this statement:
>This means that a person would have to be 277,130 miles tall to eat a planet the size of Earth as if it were a meatball.
and assuming that the following is right
>I think it's 600 some odd times the size of earth, or some other ridiculous number.

Then Toriko's Demon Satan should be about 166278000miles (267598501km) in height. Now I want Toriko to fight him. Let's give Toriko the benefit of the doubt and say he's 12ft tall (0.002 miles/0.0036576 km). This is going to be the best match up in shounen yet.

tl;dr Demon Satan background in Toriko for 2k CP when?

>>
>>43969928
Okay, I will never get this.

Compared to Marvel or DC's universe-ending apocalypses, or some of the other jumps we have, why is DBZ considered special in this regard?
>>
>>43970101
Your build? Interesting enough. Keep going.
>>
>>43970101
It's fun to read. Keep at it.
>>
>>43970118
Well, isn't the Earth usually saved in DC/Marvel? In DBZ every planet that mattered actually got blown up, so that's not great if you're someone that was relying on them to live.
>>
>>43970118
Well, the universe-ending apocalypses usually get averted, whereas in DBZ planets blow up all the time and no one stops it. It makes DBZ seem more dangerous because you expect things to be destroyed. In DC you can rely on Superman stopping the world from blowing up, you have no guarantees of the same from Goku.
>>
>>43970118
Probably because whilst the others have a semblance of plot devices and conspiracies and general metaphysical mucking about, conflicts in DBZ boil down to punching and shouting every damn time. It's less the scale of the violence and more its' inevitability; at least Thanos the Titan might stand down if you, hypothetically, could hook him up with Death.
>>
>>43970118
Because by the end of, like, the first saga, literally ever character (Besides Yamcha) is capable of blowing the planet to smithereens.

>>43970128
Builds are cool and all, but i put some work on the story so i like comments on it.

>>
>>43970213
Yamcha is such a fucking loser. Even Kami said he had potential but he squandered the fuck out of it to play baseball.
>>
>>43970118

Probably because having DBZ as the end jump was the original intent.

However do note that both Marvel and DC are set up so that you won't be there for any of the universe ending and or rewriting apocalypses.
>>
>>43970213
every*
>>
>>43970118
In this case it's being used to say 'this series started small scale, but is escalating to the levels of something a lot of people are familiar with'.
>>
>>43970226
Yeah..Yamcha's walked a long and disappointing road since he was a credible threat to Goku.
>>
>>43970213
Yamcha fucked up and if I ever actually go to DBZ I will force him to actually try to keep up, but does he ever reach Saiyan Saga Vegeta's power level? If he does, then he's perfectly capable of destroying planets.
>>
>>43970213
I don't know if you were here for LucarioAnon's stories, but you just don't get much feedback here. Know that we appreciate it though, even if we don't say anything.
>>
>>43970314
Nope.
>>
>>43970213
>>43970314

Actually even if he never got to that point Yamcha probably could.

Roshi was able to destroy the moon in Dragon Ball, and he's a joke by the time Z occurs. Assuming the relation between Dragon Ball Earth and it's moon is mostly the same the Earth should be four times the size of it's moon.

So assuming Yamcha is at least as strong as Master Roshi he should be able to destroy the planet a quarter of it at a time.
>>
>>43970118
>>43970213 is basically the right answer. For a more involved answer? Vegeta during the Saiyan Saga is capable of blowing up Earth. He's one of Frieza's little guns, and is basically nothing compared to his boss. Said boss is then effortlessly defeated by Trunks, who gets his ass handed to him by the Androids, who are just a piece of Perfect Cell. When the minor flunky of the disk 1 final boss can blow up a planet, you're dealing with a stupidly overpowered setting.
>>
>Yamcha Squandered his potential
He was never going to compete with the later threats or be relevant in combat since Saiyin blood is cheating.
He was smart, he went and lived a successful life.
Krillin was the disappointment.
>>
>>43967255
In addition to the other mentions, don't forget to grab Lightning in Conduit and in MCU if you stack the fitan tree cap with Asgard you get elemental fighting powers in the vein of Thor.

Krillin somehow remained relevant right up until Cell. His disk blew through absolutely everything, including Freeza, and it was only his complete inability to stealth that stopped him from one-shotting people.
Then he retired, got a full head of hair, and spat out a kid with a qt android girl.
I'm pretty sure Krillin won.

I don't know if it's actually canon, but I just can't believe this. Okay, Bulma went for one of the like, 5 people on the planet stronger than him, but with pro sports money, Yamcha should be blowing all other men on Earth out of the water in every category besides intelligence. How does he end up alone?
>>
>>43971048

Unsinking Kyushu and Newfoundland could be just as destructive as their sinking.

The Boss showed up and shot Akuji in the head before i could deal with him. After this, we went to the meeting with Maero confident in our position of power.

He apparently didn't hear about us taking over the city because he was as disrespectful and idiotic as ever. Seriously, fucker might be tall, but that wouldn't stop me from putting a bullet through his head.

Anyway, after that was over, we finished off the Samedi. I let Caim handle the Baron, after getting his ass kicked by Kazuo, he needed the pick-me-up.

Then...we turned our attention back towards the Brotherhood. ...I think the less said about those events, the better. It was smooth cruising for the next few years.

Then we robbed that bank. And then the Zin showed up. I think i'll save that story for another day.

>>43955391
you only get one wind for free/discounted, the rest (if you want them) you pay for.

>>43955409
telepathy, divination and biomancy are kind of on a sliding scale - you can focus on one thing like turning a person into a space marine overnight without any of the faulty organs the different chapters get, or you can go much broader and affect massive areas with much more low level changes as an example there, think curing an obesity epidemic by turning everyone into athletes over half a year.

Is it possible to build upgrades? Probably one or maaaaaaybe two, but assuming you only have the resources in the LoT jump then you'd be using up a lot of resources you really need elsewhere and things would be pretty grim.

>>43957553
This has come up before. For the more extreme stuff you can either assume that changes above and beyond what anyone walking around our world would have vanishes or you can keep it and go through the jump with everyone thinking you happen to be a Chaos Mutant.

>>43959023
Turning armies into kittenpiles is a bit outside what you can get in jump, unless you want to come to an arrangement with one of the Ruinous Powers regarding ascending to daemonhood.

Very, very powerful magic. Think turning everyone in a city to stone, energy blasts that can hurt the leader of the Third Race-who're basically Fae powerful enough to have inspired legends of gods. As the perk says, you don't quite have an actual Third Racer's raw power but you have greater versatility. Raising an island should be in the upper bounds of the magic's feats.

Though now that I think about it, Landbridge from Populus would also do.

11. Shadow Ops
Age: 26, Origin: Drop-In
Location: American Southwest
Magic Schools: Portamancy, Physiomancy
Perks: Incredible control (-600), Raw Power (-600), Extra Degree (-300)
Drawbacks: Probe, SOC's Most Wanted (+200), Latent Grenade 3-Weeks (+300)

So, I had to read the tvtropes page about this to get any information about it at all. It seems that the SOC are pricks, the Natives are pricks, the selfers are mostly pricks, and the small remainder of non-pricks are working with the MC. So, I'm not fit to join the MC but I don't want to stand in his way, either.

Illusion and mind-affecting magic aren't available to latents, so I use the mist with impunity to have the natives hide us until my magicks activate. It's sensible so I pretend my power is lightning and water manipulation, and then miraculously grow two more schools. No one is sure what to make of it until the Black Mountain Gods reveal that only the physiomancy and portamancy are from the source. I spend my time after that healing their wounded and upgrading people while sending out and withdrawing troops to keep the SOC occupied. Word spread fast about the Natives having a portamancer at their disposal, and things really ramp up after that. When Britton gets involved, I vamoose. Vamoosing is easy now that I can ride a motorcycle through hell if I choose. I got a sidecar and a gun for Falco.

Falco spends a lot of time as Varodurumon this jump, Purge Shining the shit out of enemy attacks, basically killing any non-automated enemy offenses before the MC shows up. He vamoosed with me.

Chimmy died a couple time here, in his first modern war. The first time I cried a lot. The second time I cried a little. The third time I smacked him over the head. The deaths were all so sudden that he can't remember them and treats them like jokes. Gotsu was terrified and sad the whole time, even when I told him that Chimmy would be back. He fights like the devil, but without his partner he falls apart.

The void walkers are in small groups around the outer hull so they are never far away, the wargars are concentrated mostly on the port and starboard ammunition dumps, the Kin of Iron are nomads that follow a circular route around the ship, The Pale Sons are lurking down around the engine core and the deep holds, The Redeemers hold what used to be an imperial chapel in the upper superstructure and the aquil lejen live in what used to be a barracks towards the front of the ship, just behind the armoured prow. Depending on how big the ship is, there's generally 10km or so of travelling to get between them due to collapsed passageways and other obstacles. If it's just you and the Spyder and there are no interuptions, attacks or complications it should only take a few hours.

the power and atmospherics drawbacks start almost immediately but are restricted to small, isolated and relatively unimportant areas but over the following 4-6 years more and more systems fail. By about four years in half the ship is down and by year six there's only a tiny handful of safe areas left.

If the Deadlight is broken then the timeframe is compressed massively to keep the complications from just being free CP so they go from years to weeks.

Thank you. My current plan has been to ally with every tribe that I can and take drawbacks to offset the point loss from not taking enemies. Actually convincing them to work with me will be the difficult part, but I Jumped Ace Attorney as a grandstanding lawyer and took theater classes to hone my abilities. At least I'll have an easy time winning the Kin of Iron over with my Necron body replacements. The cold is always there. It never goes away. Never.

How long would it take to repair the Light of Terra in part 1 with the Necron Spyder and all the tribes either working together or not actively working against me, assuming no really bad rolls or a creeping insanity that leaves me an emotionless, deathless robot held together with the conscious fragments of a star god in metallic form. I have Luck of the Damned and Unshakable Faith directed at leaving the Jump. Because there was zero indication whatsoever that breaking the deadlight changes the difficulty in part 1. It has always been that way since it was first released when people were so surprised at how it did change the difficulty in part 2. Him suddenly revealing this is not the case after months is shit, because it makes things possibly go from possible to near impossible or worse for some people's builds.
>>
>>43974211
I think before, most people generally presumed that the same amount of time would be available regardless of whether you had broken the deadlight or not. So 30 years would have been 30 years, rather than 30 weeks as per the conversion. At least now Babylon confirms that isn't the case. I guess from that point of view, you could see it as changing the game? Not sure how failing the objectives due to running out of time would affect things, but I guess in some parts that leads to chain end death if you weren't expecting it.
>>
>>43974299
Not just running out of time, the complications are far worse too, since you have just weeks before you feel the full effects of them, as Babylon details in his post a little above.

>>43974299
It's not a hard time limit, it's how long you have before consequences set in. If you break the deadlight (and are the demigod you have to be to finish LoT with no deadlight) then you can spend all the time you want in the now horrific LoT fixing it yourself as the tribals die around you.

>>43974416

>>
>>43973682
Years to weeks? So you have about 2 months to settle down, and prepare for Chaos? So if you pick other armies to come after you, do they all arrive at same time?
>>
>>43974554
If you're some jumper that breaks it like Red or Val then yeah, it's not really a big difference. But if you broke it because you didn't know of the consequences (As most jumpers did at the very start when it was coming out) or because you just don't want to give up things like appearance or mental perks etc, then it's a pretty massive change considering you now have a hundredth or so of the time you'd thought you had.
>>
>>43974554
So, basically once I finish Part 1, time goes back to normal with Part 2/3/DLC, am I right? Or are the complications in there affected as well? I'm curious, since the "stall Orikan since he'll wait for you infinitely plan" seems to hinge on this a bit.

And why do I have to be a demigod to finish LoT with no deadlight? I didn't see any mention of Orikan reacting to deity tier abilities in particular, couldn't you just treat him like a standard sci fi bad guy? Was Orikan actually this bad in the original 40k lore?

Everyone gets fucked over in Light of Terra, though. All the good stuff Deadlight Keepers get? It makes up for the fact that we have almost no CP because we can't take drawbacks, and the CP we do get has to be spent on things we'd otherwise skip because we need it not to die.
>>
>>43974626
> But if you broke it because you didn't know of the consequences (As most jumpers did at the very start when it was coming out) or because you just don't want to give up things like appearance or mental perks etc,
Wait, didn't Red do it for that reason? I thought she said because she didn't trust herself. You think she's screwed now?
>>
>>43974789
She seems to have those combos that would let her fix the ship up pretty easily though. I was thinking more lower powered jumpers that do it for that reason
>>
>>43974786
>Can't take drawbacks
Since when?
You're also forgetting the opponents Deadlight Keepers face are easier, up to not even having a final boss. Not to mention in general getting better stuff exclusive to them to compensate as well, such as all the race exclusive ship upgrades, the final rewards, the DLC (Particularly in that hive city, where the deadlight breakers get a toaster stolen from another setting) stuff etc
>>
>>43974626
If you broke it just to keep cosmetic perks you were screwed as soon as you got to Orikan anyways. And that wouldn't be a surprise since you can't write a build for the jump without reading the whole thing since it has retroactive CP.

>>43974641
>And why do I have to be a demigod to finish LoT with no deadlight? I didn't see any mention of Orikan reacting to deity tier abilities in particular, couldn't you just treat him like a standard sci fi bad guy? Was Orikan actually this bad in the original 40k lore?
Demigod there was just shorthand for ridiculously powerful. This is one reason I'm uncomfortable with a broken deadlight run despite being how I originally did it because the final boss is basically OC, there's no previous information on how strong he would be at that point but the jump says he's absorbing all the power of the entire Warp and becoming Ultra God.

>You can't write a build without reading the whole thing
Wrong, it's certainly possible, especially if you aren't aware of the retroactive CP thing. It's what many jumpers did as the LoT parts came out, though some did go back to change their builds.
>>
>>43974846
Because if you take the drawbacks, you will die. There isn't a single survivable drawback in Part 1.
>>
>>43974964
Not really. Having years to prepare along with multipel whole tribes of allies, it's nowhere near impossible. Hard perhaps but doable. With just weeks of time, barring being strong enough to do it solo/in a few weeks, then yes it's suicidal.
>>
>>43974875
>that wouldn't be a surprise since you can't write a build for the jump without reading the whole thing since it has retroactive CP.

I guess I just outright did the jump wrong then, since I made builds as parts came out. Same thing with the DLC unfortunately.

>he's absorbing all the power of the entire Warp and becoming Ultra God.

So doesn't that basically mean no matter what a Deadlight breaker is screwed? I thought it was just a case of extreme hyperbole rather than "This is a dead end." I don't see how anyone under 100 - 200 jumps can match the entire Warp given how severe 40k seems to be. It's like this jump was designed so that you had to have a certain minimum amount of jumps in order to take it rather than something that could be done standalone.

Just more and more revelations over and over again.
>>
>>43974888
Eh. Too...Alucardy for my tastes.

My suit is more like one you wear to a meeting or a wedding then that duster/coat.
>>
>>43974917
It forces you to go negative right in part 1, how can you be unaware of it? It's POSSIBLE to go through on your first read but that requires railroading your decisions into filling in your required CP purchases (and breaking the deadlight since that's the first option to pay off the companion) or just gambling your build on ending positive and risking writing an invalid build.
>>
>>43974990
The part 1 drawbacks are "you start out with an entire tribe trying to kill you and your buddy", "you lose access to parts of the ship which you need to repair to win", "all the scrubbers go offline and countless horrible monsters come to eat you", "all the lights go out and a completely invincible murderous shadow-creature comes to eat you," and "the entire ship is filled with things that want to eat you." Remember, you're just a human at this point - and not even a particularly special human either unless you burned up your CP.
>>
>>43975096
And you can take drawbacks in part 1 to compensate, which many people did just that.Pretty easy to assume it worked just like any gauntlet at the time with it's points being gained in drawbacks.

Depending on your companions and your Perks, you'll be able to overcome those drawbacks with every tribe on your side. With Luck of the Damned, you could repair an area and have it snap shut after the power is back on. You won't be able to use it for materials or shelter, but that part of the ship is fixed.

If you have a Tyranid, countless horrible monsters coming to eat you is a good thing. They'll feed the thousands of constantly evolving supermonsters you have waiting in the wings. You have years before it happens, too.

I'm not Babylon, but it looks like all of them have benefits like that. The Tau will make contact with the tribes easier and give you equipment to keep you from dying.

The Necron will repair any parts of you that are injured, including by yourself. You can selectively give yourself Necron parts and get the Iron Kin on your side because you're literally a metal man.

The Dark Eldar will shred and torture everything that comes within melee range, and that's a benefit itself. No living thing will escape his ability to flay people alive.

The Guardswoman could turn the Imperial Guard tribe into an actual guard regiment and gives you lots of points for Perks.

The Mechanicus engineer will be so overjoyed to single-handedly repair the ship that he wouldn't give you work if you asked him, and will turn the Iron Kin into an effective repair force.

The Eldar has anticipated all of this happening already and will generally be ready for whatever comes up. The equipment she gives you is tailored to you specifically.

The Ork is a fucking Ork and will turn any tribes you ally with into a Waaagh that sweeps across the ship repairing everything in sight. Taking him will make part 2 somewhat easier if you pick Orks, because you'll both have the benefit of regenerating soldiers.

Well, he's somewhere on a scale starting at regular Orikan and ending at Ultra God With All the Power Of the Warp Plus Reality. He is in the process of absorbing the power. So if you can kill him quickly you aren't facing the power of the entire warp yet.

Mind you, you don't need to specifically build your bodymod for LoT. I built it for general fitness and dexterity and it would work well with LoT. It's just that to succeed you probably would really need a ton of skills and a healthy dose of paranoia. So don't laze about on the jumps. GO to army and try to not use your powers, get PhDs, go to courses on stuff. LEARN THINGS. Jump any Warhammer 40k thing beforehand to get a feel for setting and its tech so you can know how to do stuff in it without perks.
>>
>>43975814
Nope, perfectly possible. Just need o be powerful enough and it's hardly like the Big E or Horus is anywhere close to the strongest jumpers we have around.
>>
>>43975783
Well, sure, if you can manage to steal and fly a Space Marine Legion Flagship belonging to a Primarch.
Of course, the things are fuckhuge and don't follow you like the Light does, so good luck keeping it while you jump.
>>
For the life of me, I do not know why people get so salty of LoT. It's a good, fun jump. Yes, there are consequences for your choices, no you can't be a completionist and get everything.
>>
>>43975112
It partially depends on what companion you took as well. Carawyn or the Spyder are going to be a lot more useful than Tuesday (also Carawyn includes free decent quality gear). Toby comes with his own army given a couple months, making the choices of enemies somewhat less hard. Although yeah, Deadlight breakers easily get loads more cp, and after the update giving them two ship parts instead of one and Heathen Trail they can get equivalent numbers of special parts to intact runs and free pick between factions. Sky Full of Steel evens it out some because it includes quite a few parts exclusive to intact runs but the breakers still get a lot more stuff.
>>43974846
The Chaos flagship serves as final boss for intact runs. Breakers get 5 more bosses focused on testing personal power, but don't get an invasion. The Intact runs involve a lot more leadership stuff.
>>
In 40k in general but LoT in particular, how dangerous is it to start building construction robots to help you repair things? I know that the Mechanicus basically do this but with cyborgs, but I A) don't have cyborgs handy and B) don't know the blessings they do.

I think someone once mentioned AI was dangerous, but I don't know why or when autonomous repair bots cross the line into 'too risky to make' territory.
>>
>>43975847
Because it has a good deal of problems that go with the good parts, ones that seem focused towards one side more then the other.
