Evo time again
How to play:
• Open an image of a species in MS Paint, or your editor of choice
• Make one evolutionary change to that species
• Save as .PNG!
• Post your new species in the thread with a description of what evolution you've added and why.
• Adding size increments or names is optional.

Notes:
• Unless stated explicitly, no species ever goes extinct. Old species can still evolve, even if they're not on the latest "chain"
• Try to make your evolutions gradual and realistic
• Every 4-5 hours I'll add an update Phylogeny Chart to track changes.
• Have fun

The Setting:
The planet is similar to Earth it's currently mostly covered in pristine oceans and the animals in it are tiny and sightless.

Acid Bulg
Of course, algae is a great food supply for sea critters. For its own survival, bulg evolved to produce a chemical that breaks down most foreign matter. This prevents herbivores from feasting upon it. Most creatures will reel from the pain and go elsewhere, but the occasional creature might get caught in the algae and dissolve completely. Acid bulg currently have no way (or need) of harvesting nutrients from from such captured creatures and still rely solely on photosynthesis for energy.

In order to evade detection, and to render it slightly more difficult to consume, the Marn collects inorganic particulate onto its back, disguising itself as a mass of stone, pebbles, and sand.

These magnetic Eadalls are soon able to use this new ability to navigate across longer distances and still return to the burrows/ gather for mating purposes.

As a result they become slightly more isolated and a new mutation that creates a set of pseudo pods rises in one population.

This change allows them to crawl and burrow more easily through clay/sand/ and silt, though they still aren't quite used to the shallows as their respiratory systems need colder water with high oxygen.
